- Atishay (10/5): The perfect getaway from Chiang Mai - Unique, cosy and very peaceful. We really enjoyed our stay here and a big thank you to our host for being so accomodating. More than worth the price!

- Marek (10/5): - Wystroj i wyglad obiektu to.wlasnoreczna robota wlasciciela obiektu i robi wrazenie. Mnostwo roslinnosci oczko wodne, basen ,pelny relaks. Goraco polecam Brak
- Malwina (8/5): Close to nature - Very nice and quiet location, away from traffic and right next to the river. At night you can hear frogs and cicadas. Far away from any means of communication, sometimes it was difficult to get a taxi and had to rely on our host to give us lifts. You can hire a scooter or a bicycle though.
- Jean Marie (9/5): Bonne prestation - L emplacement Rien
- Richard (7/5): - Nice and peaceful. Good pool. Everything is a bit old and could do with a refresh. The shower was poor.
- Stephan (9/5): - Lage, Pool, Garden, houses
- Andi (10/5): - A wonderful garden. Relaxing atmosphere. Pool inside garden. Riverside spot with views. Not far from Chiang Mai and Sticky waterfall. Nothing
- Philip (8/5): Magical and quirky - Charming place.
Little bridges over streams, quirky architecture.
Very nice Swiss owner, a long-time Thailand aficionado who has slowly built the resort up over decades, who knows everything about the area and always has good advice for day trips.
Great location in a very magical part of Thailand.
Lots of water, the river, the channels directing water to the fields, the enormous reservoir upstream. Magically misty in the mornings as the sun comes up over the fields.
Dark skies at night, great to have a drink and ponder the stars.
Loved it.

- Matthias (10/5): Like in Paradise - Top freundlich und professionell, super Restaurant
Nichts
- christine (9/5): - Beautiful gardens and pool. Lovely bungalow. Local villagers very friendly. Lots of nice outside sitting areas. All good

- Isolde (10/5): Jederzeit gerne wieder! - Alles!
- Karine (8/5): -
- Andrii (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice and comfy place, strongly recommend
- James (9/5): Superb - The grounds, owners and feel of the resort. Close to many attractions Bed was abit firm. Everything else was perfect
- Rebecca (6/5): Felt very unwelcomed here - Unfortunately we didn't get the room that we booked. We paid for a room on booking with terrace, large space and close by the river. When we arrived there, the owner welcomed us with a very hostile energy, and brought us to a mini room on the road, the only view we had was on the owner's truck parked right outside of the window, with zero privacy nor balcony or any of the things shown on booking's pictures.. It even said it had a bath in the listing and when we tried to point this out he told us we misunderstood the meaning of the words "bathroomwith bath" in english (my friend is from england -.-'). Checking out with the wife was a completely different experience, very nice person.
- Christian (10/5): Surprisingly good - The park where the bungalows are located is a dream.
In the mornings, the hard-working helpers come and look after it like a pearl.
Finally a pool that is big enough for swimming and not just for splashing around. Lots of Swiss guests, some of them could practise some more easy going.
- Volodymyr (9/5): Superb - A great place for relaxing and relaxing together. I recommend house number 4, with a small veranda and view of the river. There are several meters to the river. There is fish, you can catch.
The magnificent owner of Didier always hears you and is ready to help on all issues that may arise during your residence.
The pool is perfectly refreshing. The territory of the resort is green, on the territory of a magnificent pool. Every day there is a cleaning in every corner of the resort.
- Svenja (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hsin (9/5): Superb - Atmosphere, swimming pool
- M.a.h. (8/5): Nice! - Nice location and friendly owner. Restaurant is nice.
- Anglada (7/5): Good -
- Eline (7/5): Fine for a short stay on your way through - We liked the location, close to some magnificent sites and beautiful roads. Rooms and facilities could really use an up upgrade, feels a bit dated.
- Jevgenijus (8/5): Very good -
- Kean (10/5): Nice cosy and value for money stay - The place is clean, quiet and reasonable price. Overall very pleased with the place.
- Haley (9/5): Superb - This place is a hidden gem! We loved our stay and even extended by a day. Didi had bikes we could rent, which we did for two days to explore the country side. He suggested great places for coffee, temples and the national park. Great food in town and on the property.
So many fish, butterflies and frogs live in the garden making it such a peaceful place to be in nature.
We took a grab out to the resort from Chiang Mai, though could not get one back into the city. The owner helped us arrange a cab back to Chiang Mai. Consider booking a return trip on the app before you leave the city if using grab app.
I could have spent weeks here, you will love it!
- Niamh (6/5): - Lovely owner & lovely grounds. Sadly the shower cut out every time we used it resulting in a blackout of electricity. Sometimes this would return after 2 minutes sometimes 10 minutes. We stayed 9 days.
- Gil (8/5): Very good - A piece of paradise just outside of Chiang Mai. Booked spontaneously the night before arriving, and could not have picked a better place to spend 2 nights. Lovely owner, was attentive and helpful. The water pressure of the shower head could be better.
- Anne (10/5): Perfect, beautiful getaway - Extremely beautiful property, the jungle garden is exceptional and even as a non-gardener you can see that so much work went into it and it's still being cared for very carefully. The pool is huge, it's so quiet and peaceful, all you hear is birds and frogs. The owner is incredibly kind and hardworking, very helpful because he speaks Thai, German, French, and English, a handyman with all the local experience. Everything is super clean, and you can eat in the resort's restaurant delicious home made food
- John (10/5): Exceptional - swimming pool clean rooms are a good size and clean nothing
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely bungalows, garden, hosts and a special swimming pool. A perfect place.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - A peaceful green oasis just outside a small village right by the river gives almost a jungle feeling. Very friendly and helpful owners. Great home cooked food which you will enjoy as there's not much to choose from locally. Good access to nearby nature attractions, if you have your own transport, although the hotel can also organize all day trips for you.
- Kristi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (6/5): Pleasant -
- Blanca (8/5): Beautiful garden - The hotel bungalows are located in the middle of a beautiful garden, if you like plants you will love it! The area is quiet and the views from the restaurant overlooking the river were just lovely. For breakfast there is a menu to chose from. We were allocated a very small bungalow by the main gate. The bed took up most of the floor space and although the description mentioned a sitting area outside there was none, the gardens being so lovely it would have been nice to have had a couple of chairs to sit outside and enjoy the view without having to go to the restaurant area.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent service, comfort and location. Would also recommend restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Thanks Didi.
- Joanne (9/5): Well worth a visit to Riverside - Fabulous place to stay - great restaurant service for breakfast and dinner, very reasonable and excellent quality. We would definitely return. We don’t have a comment to make as enjoyed all aspects.
- Alvin (10/5): I loved my stay and am thankful to have stayed here - I like the beauty of the garden and river which made me feel very relaxed and in touch with my nature side. I liked the staff and watching how they work and treat others kindly. In some ways I liked I was in a village area, and also did not like some of it as well. I did not like that I was far away from the city (like 1.5 hrs away), not something I am used to, but it did open my eyes. That has nothing to do with the resort, but more of a personal preference.
- Bart (9/5): Fantastic hideout on the countryside - Resort is a good name! We felt super relaxed arriving here. Are we in Asia or Africa? We lost track of time sitting at the swimming pool or in one of the hideouts near the river. What a fantastic garden and so well maintained. We got the chance to rent 3 super bicycles (MTB) and discovered the beautiful area. The friendly owners helped us to plan activities. Restaurant is very good, offering many choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Rooms are very clean and nicely decorated with a personal touch. Android tv was nice for Netflix. Good airco. Clean bathroom. Room was cleaned every day. Clean sheets. Thanks a lot for this fantastic place! We come back ... But dont know when :). Nothing.
- Caroline (10/5): Tranquility - Didi and his staff were welcoming, generous and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble. And the resident bird kept us amused!
Our bungalow was spacious and clean.
The menu varied and tasty. We particularly liked the banana pancakes with honey for breakfast.
Everything was good value for money, including the rental of bicycles which we used to get to Sri Lanna National Park.
The garden is beautiful, and it's clear to see the love and attention it's given. Listening to all the birds sounds and watching the butterflies was wonderful.
If you are looking for tranquility, and a place to absorb nature, this is the place to do it. This is not a dislike, but as others have mentioned, the location is rural, so be mindful that getting to the Riverstay, or visiting tourist sights requires your own transport, or a private taxi booked in advance.
- Kayla (10/5): Highly recommend staying here and enjoying the peace and beauty of the countryside! - The room was clean and comfortable.
The property was beautiful and the hosts were always working hard to keep it so nice.
The hosts were really kind and had both bicycles and a motorbike to rent us.
The value was really good, we were really excited our tight budget could allow us to stay in the countryside.
We were really grateful for the bottled water given to us daily!
Something to keep in mind, there is a key deposit for 300b. We didn’t go to the atm before arriving so keep some extra cash on you for the deposit. Transportation to and from the property was the most difficult to figure out. We took a grab taxi to the property for 500b. Leaving, grab doesn’t have drivers in the area. We had to walk 20 min to the closest busy road, flag down a tuktuk, and take the white pickup truck bus in Mae Taeng to Chiang Mai - whole trip 175b for two // but stressful.
We were offered a ride from Riverside to Chiang Mai, but it was a bit expensive for us. Taking into account that it would be a private ride it wasn’t expensive in general, just for our budget specifically. We appreciated the offer though!
- Adrien_35 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bahaa (10/5): it's just fascinating place ! - If you want to isolate yourself from people, stress, you've come to the right place.
The first moment I arrived I felt 100% connected to the beautiful nature and silence and the river next to the room. I stayed there for three days, next time I come to Thailand I would stay a week or more.
You can rent a motorbike there and reach the market, city, waterfall and other beautiful places. Just driving around and discovering the place without Google Maps is so much fun.
The pool is very clean and big, the food is great and the price is good. If you have a special dish or request, they can prepare it for you.
it's just fascinating how much effort and love the owner put in this place - well done DIDI and see you next year :) The Internet is not the best but its fine... who want to come to such place, should turn off the phone anyway and enjoy the moment without phone and internet :)
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nir (2/5): Very poor - Nice location, friendly staff Rooms were run down, smelled as if they were not ventilated recently, facilities looked bad. Although we booked it for the night and paid in advanced, we didn't stay for the night a went to a different place.
the The accommodation's response in not trow and Disrespectful
. we were not Impolite or rude.
we thankd them and left the place.
- Michelle (8/5): Very good - Beautiful setting, quiet and relaxing. Great break from cities The towels and linen need updating
- Jonathan (9/5): Superb -
- Colin (10/5): Excellent - Nice location. Quiet. Very helpful staff who arranged a taxi service. Very nice food.
- Ward (8/5): Very good - Lovely outlook in a stunning garden setting overlooking a beautiful river. Very quiet and relaxing spot.
- ssa1928 (2/5): Worst Host in all of Thailand, owner does not have a nice personality and was not helpful. - DiDi, Swedish owner did not give me a nice welcoming, he was in hurry to go on an outing with resident. When I told him I wanted to change rooms, we got into a very bad heated discussion, then finally he said ok in a very harsh way. Since then for the remainder of my 5 days DiDi was not helpful, very poor response when texting him, refused to return my calls, and avoided answering questions I had about my stay. Poor Wifi all around property. Poor housekeeping for room, never changed the bed linens (during 4 N stay); daily had to ask for clean towels and to empty trash in rooms. Rooms were out dated, extremely worn old towels. Extremely HARD mattress. I had large room w/ sitting area n kitchen, but kitchen had no supplies (no dishes, no utensils, no microwave) only refrigerator. When asked for a dish, bowl, fork, his wife told me No, then I walked to kitchen and she went to get items. Communication w/ staff was extremely difficult (only spoke Thai) n had to call DiDi abt. my concerns. Severe problems with Ants 🐜 in bathroom n kitchen areas n kitten cleaner brush (used from previous customers) was smelling, dingy, n owner should have provided new one. I asked DiDi to for help to find a driver he said it was difficult for drivers to come there n I should call Grab (Uber like service) which does not come to the area. I ate at the restaurant 1 time, food was too salty n not very good, so I ate the rest of my meals at outside hotels. DiDi , the owner said he had lived here over 30++ years , but he has decor, towns, bed linen dating back to those years.
I was 110% unhappy and disappointed with how I was subjected to rudeness and inhospitable manners by DiDi the owner. I’ve traveled around the World and never have experienced disappointment as I did with owner, and property.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO COME HERE, if so be aware of what May transpire during your stay.
- Vonny (9/5): Superb - Beautiful garden, good food, nice staff, lovely location. Heavy metal rock music around the pool and in the restaurant, the bedding.
- Aileen (9/5): Beautiful accommodation - Everything looks so beautiful. Our house that we stayed in, but even more so outside. I think without your own transportation, it would be hard getting around.
- Malvoisin (9/5): Superb - Really beautiful and cozy place, well taken care of -luxurious nature-. Respect of privacy and off the beaten track just an hour from Chiang Mai. Lovely family running the place. Riverview from the balcony is a plus. Great countryside.
- Kay (9/5): A lovely peaceful stop between Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai, within easy distance of Srilanna NP & Lake. - Set in a peaceful location with a beautiful garden area. There is a nice swimming pool although we didn’t get chance to try it out.
The host was really warm & friendly & gave us some useful information about what we could do locally. Breakfast & dinner were really good with a good choice on the menu.
The room was stocked with coffee & water daily. There wasn’t anything that we didn’t like, however the bed is a little firmer than I am used to.
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Edwin (10/5): It was a relaxing time at the Resort - A quiet location
Rooms all close Nothing to disagree with
- Michel (9/5): Superb - Beautiful setting in nature
Lovely owners
Big swimming pool No problem for me but my mom didn't like the very hard bed, even for Thailand it's hard.
- Anita (9/5): Stay in a self-built paradise! - We had a fabulous stay in this self-built paradise. From our bungalow we were overlooking a river. Brilliant for sunseekers, silence hunters and those who are interested in a quiet, different piece of Thailand. Great Swiss-Thai owners!
- Matt (9/5): Superb - Great location. Didi and his staff were helpful. Beautiful surroundings.
- Marleen (10/5): Paradise garden at river Ping - Excellent location with private balcony overlooking the Ping river. Beautiful garden with large swimming pool. Nice talks with owner. Would have loved to stay longer. None.
- Black (10/5): Exceptional - This was one of the most incredible places we have ever stayed. It really is a hidden gem. A beautiful paradise in the countryside. The host was nothing short of amazing. There is a restaurant with proper home cooked food and drinks all reasonably priced on site. You can hire bikes and scooters to visit the local attractions. (I recommend the sticky waterfall). The locals are so friendly and happy and we also visited the weekend market which was so cheap in comparison to the bigger cities. The bungalow was so cosy and the garden and pool was breathtaking. 10/10. Will definitely be back.
- Oscar (9/5): Great value stay in quiet town near beautiful mountains - Beautiful garden with fish and hundreds of plants
Air con works well
Motorbike rental is offered. He has Honda Click bikes available and charged us 250 baht per day for them
Bed is comfy
Room big enough for 2 large suitcases
Food is offered
Host helped us to find the local taxi to Chiang Mai (100 baht per person)
Host offered suggestions on where to visit nearby
The locals in the town were very friendly
Picture is from a nearby village to the East The first time we flushed the toilet, ants came with the water. They didn't come back or cause us any issues though.
Pool didn't look clean enough to swim in (maybe because it's off-peak season?)
Shower ran a little bit colder than I like, but it's ok in hot weather
- MamaSanChiangMai (10/5): Just delightful! - Even though we appeared to be the only guests, we were warmly welcomed by an impeccably clean cabin, beautifully manicured gardens and a very genuine smile. The property is comfortable and perhaps best visited during the warmer months when the pool can be appreciated more. Various size cabins are on offer, each painted individually, making a lively and colorful display, with an overall feeling of magic. Nice!
- seasonedtraveler28 (2/5): Unfortunate Stay - I had booked and paid for 2 nights here but chose to leave after the first.
I did not feel welcome or comfortable here. As a solo female traveler that is really important, especially given the isolated location of this spot. I'd chosen it for that reason, wanting a quiet escape from the city at a jungle oasis. Based on previous reviews I made my booking.
I did not experience any of the friendliness or welcome others did unfortunately. Nothing about the property or area was explained to me and I constantly felt like an intruder. I never got a smile from the staff, just blank stares. I'd been traveling for 4 months and used to overcoming any language barriers with smiles, laughter and hand gestures, the staff here were not even willing to try.
The lighting in the room was so poor I had to use a flashlight to read, the sheets were used children's style Hello Kitty sheets and if I turned the hot water heater on in the shower it reduces it to a drizzle. After breakfast I couldn't find anyone who spoke English to address my concerns so I simply wrote a note saying I was uncomfortable and choosing to check out. I didn't throw a fit, didn't demand my money back, I just wanted to leave, While waiting for pick up the owner sped up on his motor bike and confronted me about leaving. He kept claiming I was the first to be unhappy like that made it not true. This was the first time I'd ever left a property having already paid for a room and paying for another elsewhere so this was unexpected for me as well and I'm traveling for this whole year so every dollar is super important, but more so my well being. He was very aggressive and I told him at least 10 times I didn't want to argue about it, I just wanted to leave. He finally left me to wait for my pick up then came back later to tell me the driver had called and would be an hour late and claimed if he gave bad service he would have never came back out to tell me this and proceeded to try to argue with me more about my feelings of being unwelcome and uncomfortable. This would have been fine if he wanted to have a calm productive conversation about it and actually hear me but that wasn't the case. He kept cutting me off and not listening at all and kept trying to convince me I was wrong. Again, I wouldn't forfeit the nights rental fee and book new accommodations if what I was experiencing wasn't very real and very unacceptable.
I booked because of the rave reviews, I don't think this is a bad place. It was an off day or a bad fit and unfortunately my experience differed greatly from the others. I don't recommend this for solo females. It's the way the owner handled it that was the most upsetting.
- patriciahD9470LW (10/5): Lovely relaxing friendly homestay - Riverside Homestay just past Mae Tueng is a lovely break away from the city for a few days. The proprietors of this establishment are lovely friendly people, very relaxed and very helpful. It is right on the river and there are many, many trees to give shade. Swimming pool is a delight and the food is all home-cooked and delicious, meal times are whenever you want to eat. Close to Bua Thong waterfall and the scenery is beautiful. Close to Chiang Dao town - which is not impressive, we went to the handicraft market on Tuesday morning and this turned out to be cheap Chinese tat! Riverside Homestay highly recommended for a few days relaxation.
- naomih705 (10/5): Brilliant villa, super pool & great hosts. - I would recommend Riverside Homestay to anyone looking for a relaxing break/ holiday. The hosts are very friendly and the food is delicious. The gardens are amazing and the pool is brilliant. It's easy to find and only an hour from Chiang Mai. Our villa had a lovely balcony overlooking the river and bird song can be heard all day long. Our two small dogs were very welcome and allowed to cool off in the pool. Excursions to surrounding highlights are available but as we had our own wheels we explored the Hot springs and waterfalls ourselves. The food in the restaurant was very good and reasonable prices. All in all an amazing place to stay and relax and unwind from the post Songkran madness of Chiang Mai.
