Recommended for bagpackers
Owner is very friendly and humble
Very clean and well maintained
- Mohamed (1/5): Bad - Absolute nothing that was the worst place I have ever stayed in. The hostel is very dingy, everything was covered by dust and spider web, insects and mosquitoes everywhere, the beds have bugs. The place is not safe at all, the toilets and washrooms are very dirty, no one was at the hostel to help you and they were not answering my calls. Worst place ever don’t even think to pass by. 15/9/2024
- Yohannes (1/5): Bad - You will be asked to pay more than double you see on booking. I spent 300 rupees to get here from train station only to meet an old scammer guy tell me the price has gone up and i need to pay more. It is still cheap but i wasn't happy about him trying to fool me and steal from me when i met a lot of honest people that didn't have much. His son told me his father didn't know the price but from other reviews i can see that the father enjoys scamming people. Waiting for my flight back at the airport i realized he is the only bad person i met in my two month stay.
- Baddary (5/5): Passable - Fair value for the price, flexibility of the owners No safety at all
No privacy
Need more maintenance and cleaning
- Thansy (1/5): Unpleasant Experience at Central City Hostel - I recently had a disappointing experience with Central City Hostel, and I feel compelled to share my feedback to help others make informed decisions.
I booked a Central City hostel for my journey, only to encounter significant issues on the day of my arrival. Despite making all the necessary arrangements, I received a call asking me to cancel my reservation. This unexpected request, especially mid-journey, left me frustrated and inconvenienced.
This is the second time such an incident has occurred, and I find it unacceptable. If the hostel is not prepared to honour confirmed bookings, it raises questions about the reliability of their services. Why open for bookings if they are likely to ask for cancellations later?
I strongly discourage others from choosing Central City Hostel for a peaceful journey. This establishment appears to be more of a showcase, attempting to appear as the lowest-price option without delivering on its commitments.
I urge Booking.com to take appropriate action against this deceptive establishment to prevent others from facing similar disappointments.
- Ali (4/5): Disappointing - The place was dirty and felt like nobody was there and the location not really near from the center
- Gal (10/5): Exceptional - 👍🏻 nothing
- David (8/5): Cheap overnighter. Could do with a clean and cleanup. was fine for a couple of nights. - Good value.
Good location.
The old guy was nice, and happy to help where he could.
Hot shower ^^
- Jayasinghe (7/5): It's good & we plan to come again. - All are good Nothing
- Svyatoslav (10/5): Exceptional - Nice hostel. Large area, spacious. There are storage boxes, hot water and kettle 😄. Good location, to the left of the hostel there is a local store (50 meters) where you can buy breakfast rolls. On the right there is a store (100 meters) where you can buy fruits.
The host helped us with various questions.
- Kate (9/5): Nice place - All good
- Celso (7/5): Good -
- K (3/5): Poor -
- Thomas (7/5): Good -
- Sandun (1/5): Bad - nothing the hotel managements are rude.they give my room to another person when i did go to the hotel.. so poor
- Andrew (1/5): Just no. - Nothing about the actual property besides it’s location was good. The only thing that slightly made up for it was the owner who was really pleasant and friendly. The place is a literal dump. None of the doors(the front doors are just fences so it’s bugs galore)lock so literally anyone can stroll in at any time. The shared beds are just in the middle of the main room, which is fine for the price but you’ll be eaten by bugs. One of the showers had a stream of ants from top to bottom, not to mention the endless cob webs.no wifi. I left a day early, on booking there is another hostel for the same price which has free wifi, lockable doors and is clean. Go there!
- Kirish007 (5/5): It's ok. No extra favourablecomments - Price is ok No WiFi, fan is not enough for all bed
- Eric (7/5): Good - Very quiet hostel. Good location and very nice and helpful staff.
- Liu (4/5): Disappointing - The actual situation of this place does not provide WiFi. Although they promised to provide it in the booking, the staff attitude is bad. After confirming that they cannot provide WiFi, I propose to pay for one day first. I need to think about whether to check in the next day. The staff directly asked to leave on the morning of March 18, no longer provide accommodation from March 18 to March 19, and tried to charge a higher price than the order. In the end, I checked in according to the order price. March 17th,and they just Canceled the entire booking saying I wasn't in
- Carlos (8/5): Very good -
- Pedro (1/5): I couldn’t stay there - The owner paid my tuk tuk to move to another accommodation that I had to book last minute. - Everything very dirty
- The room that I booked was not available and they tried to move me to the shared dorm, that there is no one, because it’s dust to everywhere
- The staff when I arrived couldn’t give a solution, so I had to wait for the owner
- The hostel is very cheap ($2/night), but there is NO ONE there. I would suggest to close the place till it’s possible to have a different management of the place, because it waste the time of the travelers and of the owner/staff.
- Werapitiya (10/5): Price is very reasonable. Very clean and tidy. -
- David (10/5): Very cheap but you get what you pay - I paid $ 2.5 for one night. It is very cheap and it is that equipped and clean for that price.
The location is very good. You are on foot in the city within less than 15 minutes.
The owner is super nice and helpful and can give you good tips on what to look at or which bus you have to take to get your next travel destination. It's not that clean. But pillowcase and duvet and duvet cover were fresh washed and completely clean.
- Tea (6/5): Pleasant - It was very, very cheap, and the view from the terrace is nice. And I liked the guys I met in the hostel. Without them my stay would be totally scary, because hostel seems like nobody was there for ages. If owner put just a little bit effort in maintaining the hostel, it could give very charming and sweet atmosphere. My first impression was very bad, there is no reception, it's very unclean and facilities are dirty. Like ghost town. But the owner brought clean sheets, and lucky for me there were 2 other guys so it didn't feel so scary, otherwise I would cancel my stay. But if you are travelling in pair or group, this is perfect hostel for very cheap money!
- Coalacamp (6/5): Pleasant -
- Hamad (4/5): Disappointing -
- Maryam (1/5): Hostel beyond dirty and terrible - Nothing was good. It doesn't look like the picture. It's so dirty and old that the roof might fall on your head Even though I had informed in advance that we were coming, nothing was ready, it was extremely dirty, not even good for a one-night stay.
- Kavishka (1/5): Worst place to crash in. -
- Ilkin (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone
- Stephen (5/5): Passable - Hot water for shower. Close to one of the monasteries. Walter was very nice to talk to and his son Prabath was very pleasant via WhatsApp. Extremely dirty, cobwebs everywhere and mildew on mattresses. The whole place needs a spring clean and mattresses need replacing. There is no WiFi. Some kind of animal roaming the hostel at night time. The hostel could be nice again, it just looks as though it has been left for a number of years without any maintenance or cleaning.
- Atthanayake (4/5): Disappointing -
- Nimal (5/5): Lot of Value for money. Kandy centre, but please arrive during daylight ! - Oh Yes , the Price ! The toilet and shower looked clean and good. Ideal for a group youth travel. No lighting to show the deep steps for a night arrival. Host more interested in the cash rather than settling in the guests.
- Muhammad (1/5): Bad -
- Kalhara (6/5): Pleasant -
- Yi (9/5): Superb -
- V_bo (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and helpful manager
- Mohammad (10/5): Place is really interesting and near to city center and good maintenance,i recommend anyone who are - Amazing Dormitory facility. Everything is good nothing Bad at all
- Dhanushka (1/5): Bad -
- Akash (1/5): Not a good place to stay.... Unsafe... - Bad Condition... And unsecured place to stay... Better to stay any other place...
- Muhannad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aamir (8/5): Very good -
