• Carol (9/5): Excellent Stay - The location was excellent, just inside the south gate of the Ichan Kala in a quiet residential area but only 5mins walk from all the main sites and restaurants. Accessible by car. The staff, particularly Abdurahmon, could not have been more attentive or helpful. Breakfast was a buffet style with a great variety of food on offer. Very tasty and they also had a coffee machine. The rooms were spacious, clean with a good working air con. Beds were comfortable and water was hot. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I return to Khiva. There was nothing not to like!

The hotel is located right in the middle of the Old City, just a few steps away from all the main historical sights. Rooms: The rooms were spotless and the beds were very comfortable, which ensured a great night's rest. Service: The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. We are especially grateful for their help in organizing our airport transfer, it made our trip so much easier! Breakfast: Delicious! A great variety of food to start the day. Rooftop Terrace: A huge bonus! The views from the terrace are stunning and it’s the perfect place to relax. If I ever visit Khiva again, I will definitely choose this place without hesitation. • Jeroen (9/5): Genoten van dit hotel - Khiva is een geweldige plek om te zijn. De medewerkers (vooral de Jongen aan de receptie) zijn super vriendelijk. De kamer is erg ruim wat fijn was en wordt elke dag verschoond. Cash het verblijf moeten betalen blijft een ding in Oezbekistan. Het dakterras is niet functioneel en dat doet het plaatje wel vermoeden.

Down side was the owner just felt he was not nice guy and I have to say the apple does not fall far from the tree his son was the same just worried about payment and no appreciation of their staff shame . • Kerttu (8/5): Excellent location - This hotel has excellent location inside the old town but directly in front of one of the gates: easy to access by car, no need to drag luggage in the inaccessible heart of the old town. Also, the street is silent and there is no excessive touristic activities such as dance shows that go on daily in heart of the old town. Young receptionist was extremely kind, helpful and effective - warm thanks to him. Hotel helped to arrange airport transportation. With payment there was information cut (we were asked to pay for the hotel, what we did, but then the driver and owner were asking us to pay again at the airport. However, finally they recalled that payment had been made already the day before). Breakfast space is impressive and very unique. Nothing major as this is perfectly nice hotel. As notes for future travellers the following could be shared: This applies to most hotels (if not all) I stayed around Uzbekistan: there are no doorsteps so you can hear everything happening in hallway or the beautiful breakfast space directly to your room. I recommend earplugs for those who want to sleep longer than 7 am. Otherwise, the hotel was calm and silent. Do note that credit cards are not accepted even the booking.com confirmation mentioned that payments by card are accepted. Also, the terrace in the pictures is not in use ("under renovation" according to the receptionist but reading the earlier reviews, we knew to prepare for this). However, within 100 m from the hotel you have several lovely rooftops cafes and restaurants to choose.

• Christine (8/5): - Hotel Shaherezada is een heel mooi hotel. Het houtwerk en schilderwerk in het gebouw is prachtig. Het is ook zeer goed gelegen binnen de vestigingsmuren van Xiva. Het is een plezier om te ontbijten in de prachtige ontbijtzaal. De badkamer van onze kamer viel een beetje uit de toon. Na al dat mooie houtsnijwerk en schilderwerk in het hotel verwacht je wel een inspirerender badkamer.

Good value for money. - Location super-convenient: cars can get there (so, no troubles when arriving and leaving with the suitcases) but 2 min walk for all the monuments. Owning family very friendly, very good breakfast. Very spacious room. My room was very close to the reception and in front of the breakfast room: it has been noisy in some moments. Maybe because of the rain, but at times there was a bad smell in the bathroom.

The bathroom was large and there was ample space for the three of us. Breakfast was tasty, with eggs on demand. Would recommend to anyone coming to Khiva.

Colazione non molto varia né abbondante. Tende sporche e copriletto tappezzato. Sciacquone con scarso getto d'acqua. Il ragazzo alla reception al nostro arrivo è stato molto carino e disponibile, ma purtroppo non lo stesso per il suo collega. Al momento del checkout, dovendo partire al mattino molto presto, scendendo nella hall ci siamo accorti di essere letteralmente blindati dentro, con tanto di maxi - lucchetto alla porta d'ingresso. Per poter uscire, siamo dovuti andare a svegliare i gestori, all' arrivo del nostro taxi, che erano visibilmente scocciati. Alla faccia delle norme sulla sicurezza!

• Susan (10/5): A great hotel in the historic center of Khiva - The Shaherazada Hotel was wonderful and clean clean clean and has a helpful staff. My room was spacious and very comfortable. I loved the location inside the inner walls but a little away from the crowds. Two reviews concerned me when I booked. One said cleanliness was an issue. That was not my experience at all. To the contrary, my room and the common areas sparkled and I do not know what more could be done. The other said the walk to the hotel was dark and he seemed concerned about safety. While it was a little dark for a very short distance, there were always people around and lights from shops illuminated the walk. I found Uzbekistan to be so safe that walking a few feet in the dark is not a concern. I talked to other people who also loved the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel. It is a great value.

Die Lage ist sehr gut - in 5 Minuten erreicht man die Hauptsehenswürdigkeiten. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Ich hatte mich sehr auf die Terrasse gefreut, musste aber dann leider feststellen, dass diese nicht wie auf den Fotos ausgestattet und daher nicht nutzbar ist.

The room was nice and clean, breakfast was also nice We asked the staff and there is no access to a terrace so the picture is misleading. Our room was overlooking the hotel entrance where there is an outside bed and some of the hotel staff was laughing and shouting outside our window until late at night

We arrived before check-in time and they allowed us to go into the room. The location is perfect. Very close to the south gate which is convenient for airport taxi drop at the hotel front door, but in a quiet area of the Ichon Qala so there is no noises at all, and feels very authentic. The hotel is spotless clean. The decoration is so beautiful and peaceful. The room was clean and spacious. The beds very comfortable. and the breakfast had plenty of options for all diets and tastes. Nothing to sit on even. Could do with the breakfast ending a bit later than 9am. The room lights are way too bright. Some option between complete darkness and dazzling spotlights would be great. Also would have been great to hear hello, thank you and goodbye from the reception staff. Be mindful that in Khiva there’s a city tax on top of the room rate.
