Guest Reviews
- Tim Carr (9/5): -
- MALCOLM (9/5): Usk - Friendly staff, great food. Good location. Plenty of pubs to visit in area, this was most probably cheapest and more choice of beer's. 7 minutecwalk to castle and about 4 to the jail. Nothing didn't like about place
- United kingd (7/5): - Very friendly welcome by staff.
- David (10/5): - Everything about this place is amazing staff, food and accommodations Nothing
- Laura (7/5): -
- Fred (6/5): Food was good.Room and facilities weren’t - Nice location. Bed was very comfortable. Food was good. Room was very tired. Coffee machine didn’t work. Twin room and three tea bags. Bathroom basin had a shelf above it and was not possible to wash your face because the shelf was to low.
- white (8/5): Over all it was good - The breakfast was very nice , the bed was comfortable staff were friendly . I did not like the steps down from the shower it was very dangerous as I missed it and struck my head off the frame of the door and cut my head .
It's very easy to forget its there.
- Rhiannon (8/5): - Lovely breakfast, evening meal & comfy bed. Very cosy, friendly pub with real ales, real fire & welcoming atmosphere. Very good location. Would definitely stay again & recommend to others. The room was smaller than expected but the bed was very comfortable. The room had all necessary amenities.

- Gary (9/5): Really good value for money, we would stay again ! - We were told there would be no cooked breakfast on the morning, due to staffing issues, but the continental breakfast we had was lovely. Nothing
- Lyndon (7/5): Pleasant and jovial. - Breakfast was enjoyable and the staff and locals very friendly. The area is known to me and getting around by car is essential but rewarding if you are going to Bannau Brecheniog or local outdoors. Net curtain was broke but fixed immediately.
- Angelina79 (10/5): A great value place to stay in Usk - I spent a couple of nights here over the Christmas period, and really enjoyed my stay. Not only is it a lovely pub to drink in, but I found my room to be cozy, comfortable and very warm. The price I paid included a cooked breakfast, (which was done really well), and therefore, great value. The location is also excellent, as it's right in the centre of Usk. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. Thank you to Stuart, Lee and the whole team for a lovely stay. Nothing to add here - everything was great.
- Peter (10/5): Just right. - This is a great little inn. Perfect stopover. The staff were really kind and helpful. Stuart is a great host. Thank you!
- Williams (9/5): My Usk stay - Friendly staff and helpfull Noise outside
- Jacqueline (5/5): Nice building, lovely town, lively bar, but no check-in until 5.30pm and no breakfast on Day 2. - I had booked two nights with two breakfasts. The first breakfast was excellent. The second one was cancelled because the chef wasn't well and there was nobody else who could cook eggs and bacon! It is inconvenient that one can't check in until 5.30 pm. I don't like driving in the dark and so wanted to check in at 3.30pm. That was not possible.
- Yorke (8/5): New court inn twin room. - All went well, clean and comfortable. Wonderful breakfast, attentive and enthusiastic staff. I would stay again. Nothing much, the door handle on the guest front door could be better, I caught my thumb on the frame. I did mean to mention it but I forgot.
- Neil (10/5): -
- Elaine (10/5): This was not our first stay here and it won't be our last - The breakfast was perfect There was nothing we didn't like
- Gary (10/5): - Warm, welcoming. Room was warm and it was exceptionally cold outside. Breakfast was amazing. Great character friendly owner.
- Anthony (10/5): The owners went the extra mile and did an early breakfast for me as I had an early customer appointment - will definitel - Nice old traditional inn with masses of character with log fires - for a cosy evening in Nothing
- Justine (10/5): - Wonderful food and ales. Clean and comfortable room. Great staff.
- Nadav (10/5): -
- Peter (8/5): -
- Coral (8/5): Pleasant and charming with delightful staff. - Staff were very friendly. Old period charm Couldn’t get in at the required time. Room was a bit cold and in need of an update. No food served on a Monday.
- Paul (10/5): Great - would definitely stay again. - Welcoming and friendly staff. Great food, freshly prepared.
- Neil (10/5): -
- Howard (8/5): -
- Michael (9/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): - Everything, The staff were warm, friendly, nothing was too much trouble.
Immaculately clean throughout.
Food exceptional, clearly freshly cooked to order, with minimal wait time.
Good selection of both non- alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.
Room , was exceptional clean, well decorated and well stocked with tea, coffee etc. Nothing to dislike.
- gary (8/5): Pleasent central hotel -
- Doug (7/5): Comfortable !! - Location was great and staff were accommodating and helpful. We stayed for two nights but disappointed with the fact that the room never got touched while we were there,
- Neil (8/5): Pleasant stop off on our way through Wales - Good location in centre of nice quiet village. We parked right outside. Good breakfast you order the night before by filling in a form. Cramped bathroom (rm4) with a sink that is almost unusable it’s so small with a shelf right above. Maybe remove the shelf…
- Joseph (10/5): Great people, place and location. - The room, breakfast and staff were first class. I I would not hesitate in using the Inn again. The shower unit was dated and could do with being replaced.
- john (9/5): 👍 - Took great care of our bikes.
- Barrie (9/5): -
- Tyler (8/5): - Staff were lovely and the food was great, really enjoyable stay. The room was a little small, however it was comfortable enough
- Laura (10/5): -
- Melania (9/5): - Excellent freshly cooked food, hence the slightly long wait but well worth it and with such good beer on offer, why hurry? The triple cooked chips were a particular delight. Breakfast cooked to order and served with a homely touch. Room a bit small but well equipped with a comfy bed.
- Clare (5/5): No milk in my room! no one around to ask! - Bed was comfy. There was no milk in the room for morning tea. I had to leave early at 730am. so disappointing .i looked for staff to ask, but no one around. I asked if I could have an early breakfast in advance.but It was not accommodated for.
- Anna (10/5): Good location, great breakfasts, pub was cozy and room had everything we needed. - Breakfast, even tho it looked small, kept us suprisingly full for a while, everything was tasty and the choice provided would let everyone find something for themeselves.
- Jacqueline (8/5): I would certainly stay there again. - The staff were really helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was good. The location is excellent and parking outside was very easy. The dinner menu had chips with everything. A salad would have been welcome.
- Stephen (8/5): The New Court in Usk - Lovely pub/accomodation in the great community of Usk. The New Court was good value for money and the staff friendly and helpfull. The bed was comfortable, however the bathroom could have been a little cleaner. All in all it was a good stay.
- Jess (3/5): Could do with a facelift - Location was handy for the wedding. Breakfast was good. Although we were able to let them know in advance we only needed one room, they charged for both. Room was dated, cramp, uncomfortable mattress, broken shower doors, windows kept open by blocks of wood. Kept awake all night by fire exit lighting and extractor fans. Sorry guys but we've stayed in top London hotels for less.
- Rebecca (10/5): Proper pub. Just the ticket. - Lovely town, hosts, food, pub, room It was perfect
- Jackie (10/5): - Rooms were comfortable and were clean. Staff are really friendly and the breakfast was amazing
- Cara (7/5): Perfect for a one night pit stop. - The staff were welcoming, the property was clean and the breakfast was lovely! The rooms were definitely dated and the decor / painting etc was tired / shabby although this didn’t detract from the comfort.
- Peter (10/5): -
- Piotr (8/5): -
- Debbie (6/5): Great staff and a lovely village. - The New Court Inn was in a beautifully place called Usk. The staff we encountered were both absolutely lovely - very friendly and helpful. The room was fine. It was quite cramped and lacked enough power points but had a very comfortable bed. I think it should be clear that you need to be there before 7pm on a Sunday before you pay. The New Court Inn did message us several times to highlight this point. We did appreciate this but we would have booked somewhere else had we known.
- Gill (9/5): -
- Catherine (9/5): -
- Denise (8/5): Friendly and welcoming. - Really comfy bed, great bar meal and breakfast, friendly welcoming staff. Decor a bit worn around the edges. No problem with Internet connection. Easy parking on street directly outside. Good real ale choice at the bar.
- Barbara (8/5): - Food was great. Staff very friendly and helpful
- Sharon (5/5): -
- Adeline (7/5): Great country hospitality - but needs air conditioning in summer! - Excellent location, ample parking, friendly staff who let me check in early. I had the best breakfast - delicious! Worth going for that alone. It was very hot and difficult to sleep in the room despite having the window open and a small fan going all night! I suspect the hot water pipes (the taps are hot to touch in the bathroom) and humid summer weather doesn’t help. They really need more efficient cooling for summer.
- Neil (10/5): -
- John (8/5): - The staff, bar and meals were really good and we enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are small (which is to be expected in buildings of this age) so be aware. We didn’t read the check-in details so be aware that 5.30pm in the earliest you can do this.
- Susan (10/5): Great start to our trip - It was a central location. The host was very friendly and helpful. The food was good. Would stay again if passing through
- Russell (8/5): Great pub, nice room, friendly staff. Recommended. - Excellent breakfast. Coffee machine in room was a nice touch. Usk is a beautiful town.
- John (10/5): Very comfortable and very friendly staff. - Delicious freshly cooked breakfast-first class. Lovely chef!
- Stephen (10/5): - Friendly owners, excellent breakfast, comfy bed
- Martin (7/5): A lovely, friendly pub in Usk - Adorable Pub in Usk with loads of character. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. The only problem was we stayed on the hottest night of the year so far and it was very nearly unbearable. Not the New Court Inn's fault.
- neil (10/5): 2nd stay here - Second time staying here , facilities are great
Food is excellent
Room is comfortable and spacious very good night sleep
Location is perfect.
Staff are friendly and very polite.
Overall excellent again
- Kevin (10/5): - Stayed a few times always great people in the bar area and staff are spot on
- Nikki (10/5): -
- Pete Russell (9/5): Great, will return. - Great breakfast. Very comfy bed. The shower worked !! Nothing I disliked
- Janine (7/5): - The Breakfasts are excellent
Tassimo machine in bedroom with coffee and hot chocolate great.
Location perfect
Bar for drinks/food downstairs great Room 4.
Twin room for 2 female guests
Bathroom was problematic. Tiny sink, difficult to brush teeth or use properly. Large step up to shower. Small square shower cubicle with difficult to move sliding corner doors. Only one large towel between two, two other towels very small for bath towels. Toilet roll holder too close to side of toilet pan to be easy to use, cramped. No bathroom mirror light.
No long life milk to make tea. Could only make coffee using Tassimo machine.
- Karen (8/5): Excellent value stopover - Well located on a quiet street. Friendly staff and an especially good breakfast. Easy parking on street. Light sleepers may dislike the single glazed windows.
- ZHIZHONG (9/5): A very nice trip and stay. - Breakfast is great. Staffs are all very friendly and kind. If the distance between the washbasin in the bathroom and the shelf under the mirror were a bit larger, it would be much convenient to use, such as brush teeth etc.
- Stewart (5/5): - Breakfast was excellent. Split levels in the shower room made it awkward.
- Karen (8/5): - A warm welcome from all the staff. All the food was beautifully cooked. Lots of eco friendly touches.
- Judith (8/5): - Great location. Room was very compact. No room to swing a cat in the shower. Strange layout to bathroom, shower built on 3 half steps, could be a huge fall risk.
Annoying green light from emergency lighting shining in the room all night.
Breakfast was delightful, however i would prefer my toast to be served the same time as the eggs, not the same time as the cereal. Toast and crossiant cold by the time i came to eat them.
- Joshua (6/5): Quaint and realistic stay in a decent location with very friendly staff, but rooms haven't aged well - Breakfast was fantastic, parking was easy, staff was very friendly, beds were comfortable, and Usk is a cute town on a river with an easy drive to the Big Pit and Brecon Beacons. Sheets in one bedroom had stains, bathrooms were very tight and uncomfortable and required a step into a walk-in shower. Very tiny sink in one bathroom in which you can't wash your face. No airflow to the rooms so they got pretty stuffy, and the fan provided was very weak.
- Cartwright (8/5): Nice short stay with good food, nice ales, helpful staff in a pleasant atmosphere - Food was very nice with a nice selection of real ales, staff were very helpful and friendly An earlier check in time would be appreciated
- Matt (9/5): -
- Shelley (10/5): - Lovely cosy atmosphere, very welcoming and friendly staff and a fabulous breakfast
- Josh (9/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): A really nice 2 nights. Generous breakfast. Comfortable bed. Pretty little hotel. Helpful staff. - Comfortable beds, good meal in the evening, generous breakfasts, very helpful staff. Little niggles. Toilet seat was a bit too low for older knees. A mobility toilet seat raiser in the bathroom would be an easy fix for those who would want to put it on top of the seat. The bathroom mirror is too close to the sink. Apart from that, perfect!!
- Lee (9/5): Nice b and b - Great Sunday roast
- Michael (9/5): -
- Hilary (9/5): - Very nice room with everything I needed and breakfast to die for.
- Tracy (3/5): Pretty dire. - It was very run down, dirty and thread bare in places. The toilet didn’t flush which was immensely unpleasant. Windows tied open with string, broken and dirty blinds, carpets worn threadbare. Billed as 4 star but would be hard pushed to get more than a 2 star if reviewed. Good food only upside but overpriced and in the space as run down as it was not that pleasant.
- Graham (7/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): One to revisit. - Stayed a couple of times now. Food is great and good choice of drinks at the bar. Rooms are clean and have everything you need. Also fresh milk given for your room and not in packets or individuals.
- christian (8/5): Ok -
- Ms V (7/5): We enjoyed the break away. - Breakfast was lovely. Fresh cooked food for all meals was really tasty. Staff are friendly. Cobwebs everywhere. The blind in the bathroom did not reach down straight/fully.
- Stephen (7/5): Excellent - Wonderful breakfast Smallish room
- Carol (9/5): Excellent place - Very warm & welcoming. Host couldn't do enough for us
Good location, in the middle of town
Clean facilities. Bed was comfortable & we both had a good night's sleep
Breakfast was excellent. Fresh ingredients cooked well. Very delicious
Dinner in pub on the night. Husband had scotch egg & triple cooked chips. I opted for mini fish & triple cooked chips. The meals were off the 'mini grazing' board. Both meals were excellent & just enough
Would definitely recommend & we would stay again
- Tom (10/5): Friendly staff. A warm welcome, comfy quiet room . Perfect -
- Janet (8/5): Very friendly staff excellent breakfast - Breakfast excellent. Location OK as there was on street parking outside the property. Rest of usk nightmare to find parking spot
- David (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed out weekend with you - Excellent breakfast !
- Mark (7/5): - Location was ideal, quiet street & ample on-street parking
Lovely welcome by landlady.
Lovely open fire & comfortable seating.
Breakfast was lovely & tasty, with attentive staff. No heating OR hot water (major disappointment being in middle of winter...brrrr!r!!!). in morning, towel rail & toilet roll holder loose, internal en suite door handle came off in hand! & loose screw snagged knuckle.
- Ingrid Stinstra (7/5): Leuk hotelletje in leuk oud plaatsje - Mooie lokatie Veel spinnewebben
