Guest Reviews
- Richard (10/5): - My fiancé and i had a wonderful time here. right in the heart of Berkley Springs, is is convenient to shopping, galleries and the famous hot springs.
Tom was a 5-star host! He greeted us at the door, guided us to room and couldn't have been nicer, more friendly or professional. We both felt like family here.
The room was elegant, with a gas fireplace, comfortable four-poster bed, and private bath.
Breakfast was wonderful, off a patio where Tom grows some of the veggies that find their way into our omelets. Tom, it turns out it's also a great cook!
The establishment has a lot of religious artifacts on display, part of a vast collection assembled by the previous owner, Maria who used the building for a restaurant. Tom and Marie, his wife took over after Maria couldn't run the restaurant and turned it into a B&B.
I do recommend this property especially compared to the traditional chain hotels in the area that charge about the same price for a whole lot less ambience.
- Michael (10/5): Weekend get away - The B & B was situated in the heart of Berkeley Springs. Shops, restaurants and the springs were within a 5 minute walk. The owners were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great , all fresh local produce. If visiting Berkeley Springs i would highly recommend this place.
- Stephanie (6/5): - Amenities were non existent, from tissues to shower cap. My husband had to hook up hot water in our room.
Lightbulbs need replacing, so reading in our room was difficult.
Tom was gracious and works hard, but seemed to be juggling his many roles.
- Katrina (10/5): - That owner Mary was extremely personable and kind as was her husband. The Inn was clean and breakfast was fantastic.
We would definitely stay there again.
- Candace (10/5): 40th Birthday bash - Mary is phenomenal she made my sister's 40th birthday more special. I appreciate Mary and her hospitality and kindness. Will definitely stay here again!!!
- AnnMarie (10/5): - The most wonderful aspect of this place is the proprietor. She really goes the extra distance to make sure you have a wonderful experience. Took me under her wing, brought me to her favorite restaurant before it closed so I could eat. Very sweet and attentive.
- Lawrence (10/5): - From the very first moment of our arrival Mary was such an excellent host. And our room, "chef's kiss, a big comfy bed and a beautiful bathroom too. Very clean and well kept. And the breakfast followed suite with everything here. Super fresh and well prepared. If you are staying here in town at Berkeley springs I would definitely stay here.
- Colin (10/5): - Wonderful stay wonderful hosts great breakfast!
- Erik M (10/5): Fantastic Inn with Amazing Food - Maria's Inn, run by Mary, is an excellent choice to stay in Berkeley Springs. The establishment is an excellent B&B, and Mary makes the best custom breakfasts each morning from 8 to 9am, with any special dietary requests honored. The inn is part of a fantastic restaurant specializing in vegetarian meals, but with fantastic dishes of all varieties. The location makes it easy to walk to the Springs, most major restaurants, and the entertainment areas of town within 12 minutes. The inn does have separate, but designated bathrooms, for each room, and there are stairs to get up to the rooms from the ground floor. Parking in on the street nearby, which may be challenging on Friday and Saturday evenings for some. Overall, the stay was fantastic and I hope to stay again when I return. Thanks!
- Deborah (10/5): What a gem! - Super comfortable and hands-down the best breakfast ever! The town has some nice restaurants, we've learned from past visits, but dinner here was inventive and yummy so glad we circled back after checking the rest. Mary has a true gift for hospitality - and cooking, along with her team. The hotel's location can't be beat and has nooks to hang out, play games, chat, sit in the garden (very welcome in the record heat). We'll be back, and thank you!
- Mary (10/5): - Maria's Garden is warm and welcoming. We had a beautiful corner room, the street was very quiet, and there was a lovely porch (and patio) to enjoy our morning coffee. Mary as available to answer any questions we had and the food was delicious.
- Borys (8/5): - If you're fans of B&B it's great!
- Glen (10/5): - Mary was a phenomenal host restaurant was fantastic food breakfast was great very clean. Felt like I was at home. Highly recommend.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Right downtown and walkable to everything. Visit Mineral Springs Trading around the corner!
- Luke (10/5): - Unique experience, we enjoyed the personalized service.
- Tildon (10/5): - Nice, attentive staff. Food is good. Be nice if the room had a closet or armoire. Internet was slow.
- Daniel (8/5): - The owner of this property is outstanding;) Talked with her many times...The property is unique. Her vegetarian bistro is wonderful. Breakfast was awesome! Wonderful experience!
- Clyde (10/5): - We were lucky to run into super hosts at Maria's Garden Inn. The accomodations were excellent and the breakfasts were very tasty. I would also recommend eating at Maria's Garden Inn restaurant as the food is amazing! We had a fantastic stay and we will return often!
- Bridgett (10/5): - Mary was waiting at the door to help us and show us around!
Great area of town.
- Indrek (10/5): - It was a nice facility. The decor could be changed up somewhat, though it was charming. Having bathrooms in the hallway was awkward, but one gets used to it. THe breakfast was excellent.
- K (10/5): - This was a great weekend getaway spot; Mary & Tom were extremely kind & provided a wealth of resources for activities from dining to spa/massage. Definitely recommend staying here & will certainly come back again!
- Dalia (10/5): - Tom and Mary were great hosts! Both were very friendly and Tom made an Incredible breakfast!
- Gary (10/5): - Lovely and warm welcoming. We enjoyed our stay -Tom's breakfast were fantastic, unfortunately we didn't get to try Mary's restaurant but we heard it a amazing. Short walk (two blocks) from the hot springs/spa.
- Virginia (10/5): - Mary and Tom are amazing hosts. Lovely property, clean, welcoming and cozy. We will definitely be back!
- Antonia (10/5): - The property has a lot of character and some unexpected surprises. It is very close to the State Park and has good dining options near by. The one staff we met, Tom, was personable and helpful.
- DAVID (10/5): - In nicer weather the porch would have made a great place to relax.
- DAVID (10/5): - the hosts were friendly and helpful with resturants in the area. Breakfast was excellant, a parfait was a delicious way to start the breakfast. Omelette was full of sausage and veggies. The room was cozy, the bed was very comfortable
- Joyce (2/5): - We were unable to check in! Signs were posted for a number to call for check in but were disconnected. Area around apparent in was not maintained well. Had to find a different location for the night.
- Kim (8/5): - Nice room but you had to go outside of room to reach your private bathroom Friendly staff. Just note you have to climb 2 flights of steps to reach rooms I am 70 and could not carry luggage that far. Had to remove some items and put in bag to carry up. I was only there for one night so that was not an issue. Breakfast was fine and the location is great.
- Elisa (8/5): - Our room (2 beds) is very comfortable. My husband enjoyed the in-room tub very much. Owner Tom was extremely friendly. Breakfast was very good for a B&B. We offered some suggestions to enhance the guest experience, and Tom seemed very open-minded about them. We will stay at the property if we ever are back in the area (Berkeley Springs, WV).
- Masato (10/5): - The breakfast was wonderful, and the owner was very kind!
- Raymond (10/5): - Being born in the 50’s, this place brought back a lot of memories. My best description of the whole place would be cool and eclectic!
- james (10/5): - Friendly service. Great accommodations and food.
- William (8/5): wonderful place - a beautiful old building, very comfortable room, friendly and helpful service, wonderful porch to sit on
- Jinelle (10/5): I’d love to go back. - Great stay! Highly recommend. Staff is fantastic. Breakfast is wonderful. There are so many shops and we were able to get an apt at the olde Roman bathhouse. All within walking distance. There was a concert going on at an art coop down the street
- Keturah (10/5): Maria’s is amazing! - I loved everything! The owners are so friendly and the house is adorable. I felt more like a houseguest than a paying guest. I strongly recommend Maria’s. Breakfast was amazing and they are happy to direct you to other local businesses and sites.
- Carter (10/5): - Lovely property and friendly proprietors.
- Lisa (8/5): Clean, comfortable, and quiet - The new owner of this inn went out of his way to make sure I was welcomed at check-in, comfortable, and felt taken care of. The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. The only drawback was that the bathroom, though private, was a few steps down the hall. Breakfast was well prepared with fresh ingredients.
- Michael (10/5): - Mary and Tom provide delicious breakfast, thoughtful conversation, a sharing spirit and a passion for making Berkeley Springs a special experience. They are working hard to maintain a standard of quality hospitality while updating a charming and unique established location. I look forward to returning and seeing them grow.
- David (10/5): - Incredible eclectic space. Owners very welcoming. Breakfast beyond outstanding (wish I could share photos). Look forward to a future visit to catch up.
- KERRI (10/5): - My husband and I just spent our anniversary weekend here. What an amazing place to stay!!! Mary and Tom are the new owners and are great people (as were the previous owners from my understanding). They went out of their way to make our stay special. Mary left us some of her delicious chocolate cake in the refrigerator with some champagne glasses (we had brought our own champagne), and a beautiful rose with a nice note wishing us a happy anniversary. The breakfasts are all fresh, homemade and absolutely delicious. They ask if you have any dietary restrictions before you come and try to accommodate them. Mary’s vegetarian restaurant is on site as well, and we highly recommend it. Gourmet food that even if you aren’t vegetarian (I am not!) you will love! The avocado spring rolls are to die for! Mary and Tom are going to be updating some things, and make some great changes while keeping the spirit the previous owners instilled there. I highly recommend staying here to f you are planning to come to Berkeley Springs! It’s within walking distance to everything in town.
- KRISTA (10/5): Family-like Atmosphere - Curtis, the inn keeper makes his guests feel right at home and took the time to get to know each of his guests.
- Lynne (10/5): Relaxing Stay in Berkeley Springs - We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Maria’s! The room was perfect for our weekend stay. The bathroom was detached but private. We had to walk a few steps down the hall, which wasn’t a big deal. The breakfast each morning was great-coffee (only instant decaf), teas, juice, bagels. One morning was French toast and eggs, the next was blueberry pancakes and eggs. It’s located right in town so we walked to the shops, restaurants, and spa. There even was a Fairy Festival in the nearby park. It rained on Saturday afternoon so we lounged on the covered porch for two hours. Such a nice weekend!
- Mark (8/5): - Proprietor/owner Curtis is a very friendly person, who interacts with the guests on a daily basis, not overbearing, just they’re more like a friend. Tom/Mary that help in the kitchen were also very warm people. The inn does show its age, rooms aren’t very big, well the Blue room isn’t, maybe some are larger. It would be tough for a person with compromised abilities to climb the steps. We really enjoyed our stay, location is in the heart of town so you can walk to a lot of places. All rooms had private bathrooms, some in hallway such as ours, but still private to us, and had all that we needed. Thanks Curtis 👍
- Duane (10/5): - The innkeeper, Curtis, was great, very welcoming. The history of the property was interesting and the entire area was friendly and charming.
- Eric (10/5): - Curtis (innkeeper) & Mary (chef) were very welcoming, friendly & helpful- wonderful breakfast served! Lounge with fireplace was warm and comfortable.
- Scott (8/5): - Very friendly and welcoming owner. Customer service the old way with pride. You just seldom see it anymore.
- Melissa (10/5): - Curt was a great host and I loved this house and our room. There was also a big living room to hang out in, many games to use, snacks and drinks available, and the place was beautiful as well as very clean. Curt made us feel so welcome and comfortable there. Then he made us a delicious breakfast in the morning. My husband and I were biking the C&O trail and Curt picked us up in Hancock so we did not have to ride out on our bikes. That was so great! We easily walked from Maria's to a nice place for supper in Berkeley. The town was lovely. We biked back to Hancock & the trail the next morning but I would not recommend it on skinny tires as we ended up riding on the stones off the paved shoulder because the trucks did not move over when passing us. Fortunately we had mountain bikes and we were able to deal with it. We highly recommend Maria's Garden and Inn. Give Curt a call!
- eric (10/5): Quite stay - Wonderful stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - An extra ordinary place! we enjoyed our conversations with Curtis and the other guests.
our boys liked the pancakes. the chapel is peaceful. central location, convenient to the springs.
Well done! we will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Host was on top of details. There were no issues.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked proximity to town, cleanliness, friendliness, food, and other things. I didn’t appreciate that the bathroom was on a separate floor.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The B&B is a mix of historic and contemporary architecture. Inside it's a warren of whimsical renovation, which I found charming. Housekeeping does not clean rooms while they are occupied. The restaurant is permanently closed, replaced by a spacious common area and a connected tea & alternative health shop. The innkeeper makes himself available to you without hovering or intruding in any way, and will happily tell you of his family's long history of hospitality in Bath. If you wish to avail yourself of the fridge, be sure to bring cash! It's on the honor system, so be honorable! Masks are tolerated but not encouraged. The most convenient walking distance to the springs, shopping, and to 7-Eleven. Plan breakfast ahead of time. If you oversleep and miss the included meal, there are limited eating options in the immediate area in the morning.
- Joyce (10/5): Very Clean and Comfortable Room! - We LOVED our stay in the Michael room. The room was very clean and allowed us room to play cards. Thank you, Curtis. We will be back. Breakfast was Yummy!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Over all feeling of safety and Tranquility. That old town home feeling. Great Staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a very nice stay at Maria's. Everyone was friendly, amenities were excellent, and the stay was relaxing.
Shower this morning got a little hot because of the plumbing being used by others, but this was the only (very minor) quibble.
Will definitely return when in Berkeley Springs (Bath).
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It’s a quaint place to visit People are friendly and they have a great breakfast.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The service and breakfast were wonderful. The room was not at all what I expected based on the pictures on the website, and the bathroom was down the hallway-not in any way connected to the room.
- Natalie (10/5): - Very friendly owners and everything was very clean. The breakfasts were wonderful and tasty.
- Pierre (10/5): reat place to relax - Great place to stay right in town very zen no stress place to stay and breakfast served by the owner himself Curtis
- W&E (10/5): - Curtis, what a wonderful host! Awesome homemade breakfast, and hot chocolate. Comfort and cleanliness in the room, as well as public areas making guests feel like being home. All the displays in the building, the serene chapel, and beautiful patio.....
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nuce to be among great people - Management was great and gave a tour of B&B. B&B has some old era charm and a great religious stance. The whole experience was wonderful.
- Kim (8/5): Nice old school boutique hotel - The owner was fantastic and very friendly and accomodating! The guests were all very quite and respectful. Only shortcoming was low water pressure in the shower - the bathrooms are across the hall. Very unique place - nice location - park your vehicle and walk where you need to go!
- Wendy (10/5): Wonderful! - My husband and I loved our stay at Maria's! Walking distance to just about everything. Our host, Curtis, was very friendly and breakfast was wonderful. We will definitely be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Truly unique the furniture selection for each of the rooms...also since the location was an inn and actually part of a old home, each room had an individual bathroom/shower which was labeled with locked with a room key. The entire house was tastefully decorated embroidery pieces in frames/photos showing original home and additions/ paintings.
The innkeeper offered several possible breakfast selections ....all delicious.
Separate room for guests offered a seating area/refrigerator/coffee etc.
Will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great cozy B&B with a great location so close to downtown Berkeley Springs. Curtis checked us in quickly and made us an excellent breakfast the next morning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owner is so friendly and adds a personal touch to your stay. The whole building is full of quirky character that sets the stage for a perfect weekend in this beautiful town.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient place to stay. Good breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I highly recommend Maria’s. Curtis treats his guests with lots of friendliness and hospitality. Breakfast was great. My room was very comfortable and homey. All around, a very nice stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great breakfast - Great breakfast
- Christina (10/5): Wonderful experience - If you are looking for new and modern, look elsewhere. I would even perhaps call this place a bit quirky. But, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed my stay here. The location was convenient to everything. The included breakfast was the bomb --- almost anything you could want cooked to order and (although I'm not usually in to this sort of thing) I got to spend time with the other guests, who were lovely people. The manager/cook went out of his way to make you feel like family. We dined outside on a gorgeous morning. The food was delicious. The company was excellent. One of my best vacation experiences... ever.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Everything. I would not recommend this place to no one
- Lorrie (10/5): - Everything was beautiful and wonderful!! Wish I could spend more time there!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was quiet and unique. There’s a restaurant downstairs and a garden to sit outside or you can sit on the front porch. Inside there’s a sitting room with a TV and games. Also a little kitchen area
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was quaint and very clean. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant was very good. I loved the front porch and sitting out there in the rocking chair. This place is right on top of everything downtown. You could walk to the shops and the State Park. The only thing I didn't like was having to leave my room to use the bathroom down the hall, but I am glad we didn't have to share it with anyone else. I would definitely recommend this place.
