Guest Reviews
- Christina (8/5): This is a lovely inn in an adorable little Vermont town. It was comfortable and a great value for my short stay. - The Vermont House was in an excellent location, walkable to restaurants and coffee shops. I was on my way to Maine from NY so it was the perfect stopover. The room and bed were very comfortable. The bathroom was updated nicely. Check-in was remote but easy and communication with the host was very prompt. The property sits right on the main drag through town. It’s historic, it’s beautiful but the whole house shakes when a truck passes by. I slept fine but light sleepers may not.

- Robert (9/5): Great stay in downtown Wilmington! - Location is fantastic. Short drive to Mount Snow. Walking distance to several worthwhile eateries including Dot's (great breakfast!), Anchor Seafood (friendly service and great food with lots of options) and Valley Craft Ales (live music on Saturday nghts, along with great pizza), as well as many others that I look forward to trying on future trips. Free parking across the street. If all you need is a warm, comfortable bed, nice bathroom and TV, then this place is for you! For previous stay, our room faced the street so it was a bit noisy with snowplows going up and down the street but we stayed toward the back of the house this time and it was so much quieter. There isn't much space to eat inside the rooms, unless you lay your food on the bed, but there is a main area on the first floor with some high tables and stools to eat at (along with a microwave, if needed).

- Robert (9/5): Wonderful! Will likely be staying there again in the near future. - Room was perfect. Beds were comfortable, Unit was easy to access; password and instructions were provided 24 hours before arrival. Communications with property owner were great. Free parking across the street. Close to shops and restaurants in town and a short drive to Mount Snow. Only negative was noisy trucks traveling through town, with window right next to street.
- Bryan (8/5): -
- lynn (9/5): great location, responsive host, comfy bed! - Great experience! The Inn is along a main road so truck noise is real. Room was clean, spacious, and the location was great!
Convenient to Mt. Snow (15 minutes)
Bed was very comfortable!
Had a few good meals at the anchor Inn, yum!
Host Haley is very responsive and helpful! Big trucks barreling down the hill at night. Our room was in the front and the room would vibrate when a big truck barreled through!
- Rachel (10/5): - It was a quick drive to Mount Snow, and we were able to walk to restaurants in the evening. The staff were responsive.
- Nicole (7/5): -
- Tommy (9/5): -
- Lauren (10/5): I wish I could have stayed longer - No breakfast available It was perfect 😊
- Kelechi (8/5): -
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Quiet and comfortable. The cost jumped from around $150/night last summer to almost $200/night this summer.
- martin (8/5): -
- Hayden (9/5): - The room was clean and stocked. The staff was friendly and helpful when I had questions about the property. The building was within walking distance to all the places in town you would want to go
- Katherine (8/5): - Location and the room was a nice size I was looking for some vending. A snack and beverages would have been nice.
- Ryan (10/5): -
- Oleksandr (8/5): -
- Rich (10/5): -
- Hans-Ulrich (8/5): Nette Unterkunft - Zentral gelegen
- Bernard (8/5): Excellent for our short stay - super clean. - No breakfast. The property was pseudo Airbnb (summer may be different), but Ms. Haley monitored our arrival and gave excellent instructions to enter the property and parking.
The room was very clean, and everything works, except the TV which we did not know how it worked and there wasn't any instruction. Ms. Haley was great to make sure we're taken care of. Road noise as it happened snow plowers were going frequent and traveling fast with frequent loud noises form the blades.

- Sarah (9/5): A perfect place to stay on my journey - The Vermont House was in the perfect location. I could easily park my car. Communication with the staff was great. I could walk to restaurants. We had a front room over looking the street. My dog who normally barks at every strange car going by, was ok after I pulled down the blinds. I would say if your a light sleeper- ask for a room in the back if possible. It is an old building so street noise does come through the windows. I was on a second floor front room. I was ok as was my dog but for those who might not be, just ask. Also, do note (as they mentioned) no elevator just stairs. It's fine for many but if you need an elevator this is not the place to stay.

- Kim (4/5): Clean. - The room was clean, the bed linens were nice, bed was comfortable, the bathroom large and clean. There was no one there at the Inn. If I were traveling alone, I would not have stayed there. The semi tracker trailers roared through town all night and the building shook each time one went by. Way too noisey!
- Narda (8/5): Comfortable - The location was the best!
- Sue (3/5): Nice property in beautiful old town, very busy road. - The property was traditional and the room was large, comfortable and warm. Nice bathroom and good shower. Although the house is in a beautiful town and lovely street, the road was very noisy and unfortunately the house seemed to shake every time a truck or large lorry passed which went on through the night.
- Kathy (7/5): Beautiful but noisy traffic - Dry convenient to everything in town! It was very very loud at night with trucks going by !
- Theresa (5/5): Disappointed. - The bed was comfortable. The carpet in the room was very dirty and not vacuumed. No towels in one bathroom. Overall, very shabby for the price.
- Colleen (9/5): Lovely stay in a great location - Great location. Wonderfully responsive hosts Would be nice to have access to ice and bottled water either complimentary or for a fee. More towels should be provided. In room refrigerator did not work
- Myla (9/5): This place is amazing. So beautiful and overall feeling of peacefulness - Absolutely stunning Closest to the busy road
- Noble (6/5): -
- Joey (10/5): -
- IRINA (10/5): Прекрасно - Отличное местоположение, уютный, чистый, красивый снаружи и внутри.
- Fred (8/5): Great little hotel but road noise a problem. I am a sound sleeper, so all good for me. - Clean and up to date. Great shower, comfy bed. Road noise. The town needs “speed bumps” in the worst way.
- Kelly (8/5): Adequate - Interesting historic building. Location- easy to find. Nice town to walk around & explore.
Bed was comfortable- although, weirdly- very tall (seriously, very high off the floor). Bathroom & shower were particularly well done.
Windows open - with screens- which I like, for fresh air.
Walking distance to shops & restaurants.
The diner - Dot’s - was great.
I really enjoyed the rocking chairs on the upstairs front porch - carried my cooler out there & had my dinner there. If you’re a light sleeper - the traffic outside is tough. Heavy trucks roll through town during the night-passing right by the Inn. They hit some kind of strip in the road right in front of the inn , & it shakes the whole building- at least on the side I was sleeping on-& I was even on the 3rd floor. Not the Inn’s fault but it’s a lot. Plus: Light flashing on the heating unit (on the wall above the head of the bed!) -& a buzzing from I couldn’t figure out what (the maid’s closet on other side of wall??)- all night long.
- Amy (9/5): Lovely hotel in a great location - Very clean and modern room. Good communication from property. Great location. Amazing bathroom and and double bed. The spare bed could have been made up for us before we arrived.
- Anthony (8/5): OK - Clean, comfortable and reasonably priced Never saw any hotel employees. You should advise people that they have no one watching anything.
- Dante (10/5): -
- Joey (5/5): -
- Robert Allen (5/5): Right along the thoroughfare. - Good size room and nice remodeled bathroom. Even though the location in the town is great, the Vermont House is right on the main east/west street in Wilmington, with our room being along the street. Anytime a semi rolled through town, which was often, the whole building would shake. It was loud, to say the least. There was also a funky moldy/mildowy/saturated pot smoke odor in the hallway permeating from the danky carpet.
- Nagisa (7/5): Good. inexpensive. - Although daily house keeper didn't come, but when I text the manager for the fresh towels or a suitcase rack, he (or house keeper) brought the items. That's nice. The room ceiling light was SOOO dark. I don't know why they keep the light so dark. It should be more brighter, and hopefully, dimmer on the switch. Remodeled bath room were so bright. So the room should be more brighter.
- Judy (5/5): - Location No staff on site, no elevator, smells moldy
- Hoover (10/5): -
- Diana Nichols (4/5): - Location, bathroom, cleanliness AC unit right above bed. Bed too soft. No staff available.
- Bridgette (8/5): Nice, centrally located Inn. Great communication from owners. We would recommend & we would stay here again. - Perfect location for walking to shops and restaurants. Also, next door to the bookstore which we loved. The room decor was very good. Tasteful, clean, a nice mix of modern & rustic cottage comfort. Plenty of hangers and storage for clothing. Nice bathroom. The twin beds were squeaky…..comfortable mattresses, though.
The mini fridge in our room could’ve been cooler, too.
- Rein (10/5): Comfortabel en goed! - Zeer mooi huis, stille en comfortabele kamer met goede bedden
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adrienne (9/5): Superb -
- Denise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kossoff (5/5): it was fine - location bed was very high, we did not recieve fresh towels,
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional - Location and value No free cancelation, but that only matters at specific times.
- Brisson (10/5): Cozy gem!!! - Really enjoyed this town, we were at walking distance to 4 different restaurants and got a chance to chat with guests from different rooms which they also agreed how cozy and clean this place was!!! I would definitely stay again!! Can't think of anything major. Maybe a TV with better resolution.
- Trip611198 (4/5): Wilmington was a bit of a let down so decided not to stay. - We booked one room here this past week. We had driven through Wilmington several years ago and thought it looked like a cute town to visit. So as we were headed home from being on vacation we decided to stop for an overnight. When we got there around 11:00am and only a few shops were open and the town did not look like it did when we came through before. We asked a couple of shop owners and the person at the chamber of commerce visitor center what was going on and no one could tell us anything. There was a weird vibe when we would talk to anyone. After about 30 minutes of walking around town we decided we would just move on. We called the number given to us, since no one was at the property and explained our issue and hoped she would be understanding since it was just noon and let us cancelled our room. We were told she couldn't do that since she had just cleaned the room but we couldn't get in the room for a couple more hours. It was pouring rain and with no other place to go we went to the next town about 30 minutes away and found not much to do there either. We received a text eventually that our room was ready and where to find the key. Also in the text, places to eat dinner and breakfast were mention but it said you should check first because some of these may not be open. We decided just to head home and eat the cost of the room. The photos look like the rooms are nice and clean and while we don't like to be negative and cause issues for a business owner trying to make a living, it was disappointing that more understanding couldn't be given to our situation. The chamber of commerce needs to have some heart to heart discussions with business owners about how to treat visitors. I personally feel the town website is a bit misleading. Perhaps our experience would have been better if shops were open and we felt more welcome. I have read reviews dating back several years here on Tripadvisor and many had a good experience staying here.
- Paul (10/5): Comfortable, enjoyable, safe and clean! - No breakfast provided. Everything was great!
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helina (9/5): Great central location! - Wonderful communication with Haley. Easy check in and check out. Easy walk around town. Not really a negative but could’ve used more large towels
- Jessica (9/5): Superb -
- Kevin (7/5): just what we needed good for the price - great location for everything in the town/ walking distance to everything in town there was little to know staff during stay..they had everything we needed but little to no live person to speak to. Everything was done via text or phone call
- Rhonda (10/5): Will definitely return to this great place. - Owners are quick to respond with any questions. Clean building and spacious rooms! Highly recommend!!
- Jessica (9/5): Superb - The property is clear
- Paul (10/5): A totally pleasant surprise ! - Totally quaint and hospitable and modern environment ! Easy to access and it exceeded my expectations for sure ! Can’t think of anything !
- Deborah (9/5): Really nice place to stay, worth the cost, and we would stay there again. - The room was very nice, with a very comfortable bed. It was also very nice to be able to walk two places such as restaurants. Part of staying right in town is the town traffic, which was to be expected. After about 830 at night things quieted down quite a bit though.
It did take a while for the water to warm up for a shower.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hien (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mcquiston (10/5): Great clean and modern in a vintage Victorian bldg, close to all the activities, reasonable cost. - Location was great - central to and walking to restaurants etc close to ski areas. Hotel was very clean and well kept - with modern bathroom. Checkin by text and great communication with off site staff. Parking was just across the street but a bit hard to find at night - easy to unload and load infront of hotel.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
