Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (4/5): Terrible place - The beds are like rocks was there for 2 nights. The room was dirty. I went to the store and bought cleaning products. They advertise a pool which is non existence. They give you a sheet to sleep with no blankets in room. The walls have not been clean in years. There was a hole in the ceiling in the bathroom that thru popped a fan vent over. The bedroom the sun shines right in with blinds closed. The pictures online are made up it is not at all like it. You cannot hang a towel anywhere. Ants in room. Sink did not drain. They charge 250 a nite not worth it.
- Victoria (2/5): - No pool, bedding was dirty, room was dirty, there were roaches, shady people standing out side on balcony all night. I was very disappointed and disgusted i will never ever go back again!
- Ellen (4/5): - Bed sheets are clean but the nonsmoking room smells smoke. However it’s close to Shop Rite and restaurants and have enough parking space.
- Luz (6/5): - Good for one night
- Marie (2/5): - The owner are rude and they make fun people with disabilities
- Torin (2/5): Nightmare - So I had low expectations going into this place because of the price, but I didn’t realize the plumbing would back up and stack pipe water would be over flowing from the base of the toilet the next morning. I woke up 6:30am stepped onto a soaking wet floor. Called the office they did come right over with 2 towels lol the floor was soaked. Then he comes back with a sheet half ass wipes it up and leaves basically saying you’ll get a new room later. We couldn’t shower because the water was overflowing from the toilet the moment you turned it on. At that point I packed up and requested a refund for the second day because I was out of there before 8:30am. They claimed they would refund for the second day so we shall see.
- Brian (2/5): Infested - We found beg bugs in our sheets and in the mattress. Burn holes in the sheets just overall disgusting
- Michele (2/5): Dont Believe the Pictures! - I read the recent review about the filth and overwhelming air freshener smell too late to cancel, so we went and I hoped for the best. Check in was like an interrogation and very unwelcoming, as we were asked how many people and if we had animals twice, as if we were not believed. The air freshener smell was indeed overwhelming. The bathroom door didnt shut, the toilet seat was dirty, the dresser reeked of mildew when you open the door and drawers. The pillows were dirty and smelled like dirty hair, the lamp shade has what appears to be blood splatter on it. We tried to leave and come back, tried keeping the door open and after a few hours we checked out and went elsewhere. When I checked out, it didnt seem to matter. We hadnt even left yet and two employees were in the room. I would think if someone checks out after a few hours, and they dont rent by the hour, then they would be curious and ask if things are ok? I turned the AC unit off to see if that would help with the air freshener, but then it smelled of mildew. I knew I wasnt booking a fancy place, and I dont even care about it being run down - but so much air freshener my eyes were literally burning! We had headaches, and could not breathe. Everything was filthy. There was a random door to somewhere that I had no way of insuring it would stay locked. The pics indeed are not accurate. What are they hiding with the air freshener?
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible Experience - This is terrible motel. There were people with drugs and the cops came here twice. Please do not trust the pictures of the motel. The rooms are very dirty and they smell of urine.
This place was not safe and every now and then the police were there. The sheets and towels were horrible. Since the rooms smelt so bad, they had put an overdose of room freshner. I would never ever ask anyone to book this place even if it is cheap. I am shocked that hotels.com has even listed this place. When i reached out to hotels.com they washed their hands and did not want to help. I did not expect this from a reputed site. I do not want anyone else to go thru what i went thru and its best to skip this place. I just could not stay there and when i asked hotels.com for a refund i got no help.
- Henry (10/5): - Friendly staff and comfort.
- Anthony (4/5): - Nothing even remotely special
- Verified traveler (2/5): Absolutely the worst place. - I’m all our years of traveling for work , have we experienced such a rude , unprofessional, and so poorly kept establishment. Our experience started by the front desk calling us to ask what time we where gonna check in. We proceeded to tell them that we would be checking in late due to the fact that, we were in town working a concert at the beach that ended late. We received 3 follow up calls, from the front desk saying that if we didn’t come in 10 mins they would give our room to someone else. Even though it was already paid for via hotels.com. Once we arrived we were told that we would have to pay $100 for the extra person in the room. So we did with no resistance. Once we enter the room is where the real fun begin. The room was absolutely disgusting it smelled of foul body odor the sheets that were supposed to be white or yellow we proceeded to call the front desk to ask for clean sheets and they told us to F off a because they where already sleeping. and if we didn’t like it that we would be free to go with no refund. The next morning upon leaving we received the phone call saying that our credit card would be charged and additional fee because we had damage their air conditioner in refrigerator which we did not even use the place was so disgusting nothing in the room was touched. This place is should be inspected by the local health dept. Dirty, Foul smelling, poor service.
- Hector (10/5): - Nothing special just a place to stay after a long trip!
- Marlene (4/5): - Very run down motel by a busy street. Dirty sheets and bad bed. Would not stay here again
- Jose (6/5): - Overall ok , but no central air so the other bedroom kind of warm 95 degrees during day . Bathroom sink clogged, enough to take quick shower ..
- paul (2/5): - this place is like a septic tank explosion ...it must be seen to beleive
- Carlos A Guerrero (10/5): - Very nice rooms and very clean
- isabelle (6/5): - The owner is really friendly unfortunatly the aroma of potpourri in the room was too much.
- Henry (10/5): - Clean and convenient.
- Jaime (6/5): - Room was clean and comfortable, but ask for a room AWAY from the road. Sirens and those stupid loud mufflers those idiots are using these days will keep you up all night.
- John (6/5): - This is a low budget "no frills" motel. It's basically a dive but the rooms are priced that way. The bathroom would not pass safety code inspections today. maybe it's grandfathered in.
my room was clean, i didn't see any bugs. no odors or smoke smell in the room either. bed was comfortable.
the towels and linens were very old. the toilet paper was like cardboard. no shampoo or toiletries. seems like owners are trying to save every nickel they can.
if they charged an extra buck per
night maybe they could give you a new towel and shampoo?
- Arlindo (10/5): - Double rooms perfect for fishermen looking for a place to stay while coming into NJ busiest fishing port capemay
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Checking in were 123. However my nights were terrible. I am a traveling nurse, who works 16 shifts. When i get to my hotel all i want to do is shower and go to sleep. On my way to my room there were guest hanging out smoking. I woke up at 2am coughing from smoke from other guest disgusting smoking habits and noise. The place needs a make over steps are dirty . Floors needs sweeping.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Toilet doesn’t flush
- Kaitlin (6/5): - Honestly it wasn’t a bad stay. The few things that I didn’t like was a really hard mattress, which I woke up with a back ache in the mornings. Also when I went to take a shower the towels in the room smelled old and musty with stains on them. I called the front desk to ask for new towels and he brought them pretty fast. The guy at the front desk was helpful and friendly. The room itself was clean as well as the bed. I was worried but it wasn’t that bad of a stay! Will I stay again probably not, but it was a place to sleep while visiting.
- Mericia (10/5): - Great little motel! Very clean!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Don’t bother - Dirty floors, dirty shower, no fitted sheet on bed, no tissues or ironing board or shampoo and conditioner, wobbly toilet and front office smelled like hot sausages.
- Trista (2/5): Do not stay - The rooms are very run down. Violent registered offenders live on the property. Drugs are present. Not a place for family’s. I was approved to put a room in my name for someone off the street. If I didn’t have my service dog for protection I would have never stayed the night.
- Robert (2/5): Stay away. I wish I had. - They take photos of your ID with a camera, wasn’t in love with that.
Once I got into my room I placed my bags in the back room which had a bigger bed. The front room had a queen and the back room had a king. I didn’t specifically ask for this set up but this is what they gave me. I then left the hotel to go see some friends. When I returned I found that someone had gone into my room handled my personal belongings without my permission and repoed them to the front room with the back room now locked. Given the overall vibe this hotel had I didn’t know what to think. But my main concern was that there was someone else sleeping In that same room with the door locked.
I talked to the front desk; English was not their first language which didn’t help. And it eventually got to the point of me threatening to call the police before they begrudgingly agreed to open the door up for me so I could verify there were no other individuals camping out in my room behind a locked door.
I have stayed In hundreds of hotels, but I have never had someone go into my room after check in and rearrange my personal belongings.
The people that run this place were rude from the start, they photograph your identification, and they will enter your room while you’re gone and handle your personal belongings (*not housekeeping, main staff)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I arrived and checked in the room was nice, clean. It was a 2 room unit with a full size bed and a king sized bed but only had 2 towels in the bathroom. We had the room reserved for 4 adults and a child. She seemed to get alittle mad when I asked for the extra towels. We were there all week they never collected the trash or replaced the towels but came into the room several times while we were out and turned off the air conditioning. Overall if the need arose I would stay again for the money we paid but not for the rate they charge if you book with them. ( the flamingo motel)
- James (2/5): ROTTEN - Where do I begin we checked in and went to room and when we entered it smelled bad like something died. So I went next door to shop rite and got air fresheners and a candle. We had no lighter so I went and told management about the issue with smell also at that time the toilet was leaking and she brought a bath mat for the fix. She brought a lighter to the room and lit the candle . So we sprayed and the smell kept returning. About 9 pm I went to warm some leftovers in the Microwave and that was when I found the ROTTING Chicken looked like hard boiled eggs and beets and KFC mashed potatoes… We told management and they started yelling that we brought and no refund at this point they were acting like idiots so We left. The worst experience ever!!
- Melanda (2/5): NEVER AGAIN! - For starters, horrible service and location and they charge you $15.00 per night per pet. The couple at the front desk were creepy. They looked like the animated version of the Addams Family from Scooby Doo. Slow thinking and hard to understand and obviously I was difficult to be understood. The room had no iron or ironing board, no phone, no clock and only one tiny bar of soap, despite being asked a dozen times, “how many we’re staying in the room.” The bathroom sink had poor drainage, filled up quickly. And to top it all off, no ice bucket. When I asked for an ice bucket, Gomez gave me a bag of ice in a bag that looked like he found it laying around somewhere, and where did the ice come from? For all I knew he used his hands(probably didn’t bother to wash them) to put the ice in the bag?! One last thing, when I asked for things that should’ve been in our room, he said this is an Independent hotel multiple times. OMG!
Believe my story or not, take my advice/heed my warning and…STAY ELSEWHERE!
- jose (6/5): ok - hotel needs to be updated location was good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay but no pool
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This property is horrible and disgusting. Expedia should be ashamed of themselves.
- Jessie (2/5): Murder at my hotel smh - The hotel it’s self wasn’t really dirty which was good but when we pulled up we cops we’re everywhere we found it was a murder investigation and the cop said it wasn’t the good area or best motel to stay at I was very disappointed to start my stay to being talked to by cops about a murder in the motel I was staying very scary and uncomfortable smh
- Tara (6/5): - When checking in the lady that owns th
- JEANNETTE (8/5): - Was good stay
- Nylka (6/5): - When we first got there I was a little nervous because of the type of people hanging around. The shower was great and the bed was comfortable. All in all our stay was alright.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place was terrible the staff was rude, they knocked on our door an hr before check out to rush us out, the pool was closed, and it was filthy!
- Frederick (10/5): Great - Great staff, fast service, clean and organized, would definitely stay again!
- Melissa (2/5): TRASH!! OWNERS ARE RUDE - The owner was very rude & instead of talking she yelled. After being at the beach, we came back to the room to change, 2 of our friends came to change as well but they were not staying & we let the owner know that but she said visitors could only stay for an he, we stepped outside to smoke since it is no smoking & she yelled about that. She harassed us to the point that we asked to be refunded because we were abiding by all the rules there yet she continued to come to the room & yell at us! There is a way to talk to ppl & that was not it! Especially when we did nothing wrong, she had seemed to be already arguing with others there & took it out on good paying customers. I would NEVER recommend this place! TRASH!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Property was old but in good condition and was within expectations for the price we paid. Beds and bathroom were old but clean. 10yo complained of smell but ad
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was okay. We stayed here one night as it was the only place available for a wedding we attended nearby. The only time we spent in the room was to sleep. Overall the room was clean. The towel mats in the floor were stained but other than that it was fine.
- jodi (8/5): Ok last minute stay - Very old and needs updated, but only slept there for 1 night. It worked in a pinch and was ok, but if I had a choice, I would not chose to stay there again.
- Shirleeta (2/5): STAY AWAY - I wasn't expecting 5 star quality but this was worse than imagined. They should have paid us to stay there! The mattress cover under the sheet was filthy, the room was old, worn with peeling paint and peeling floor tile, the bathroom was tiny and had to sit sideways on the toilet. The room reeked of cigarette smoke although it was suppose to be a non-smoking room, had to wash all my belongings as soon as I got home. The check in was stressful, the staff person was not friendly and there was a significant language barrier. The towels were dingy, there was no telephone or other amenities like soap, shampoo, etc. And the pool looked like a cesspool! We stayed for one night and slept in our clothes. Would not stay here again even as a last resort! IT WAS HORRIBLE!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The major problem was that the receptionist had difficulty understanding us and we had difficulty understanding him. Even after speaking with the owner, we were not satisfied that we were on the same page. Additionally, the receptionist did not follow through as indicated on the confirmation notice. They would not accept my credit card, but used the one used for the call to reserve. The room was charged using the wrong card. He used my card but my provider had not received the order to hold, so we were not sure what was going on. The confirmation notice indicated that the charge would be made upon checkout. It was not.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Sheets stain, no water pressure in shower
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Note/pool is under construction & does not look close to being ready for summer. A shady seedy element of people who MAY be longer guest then the traveler stay there. Nice thing is police station is right next door, & the owner is SERIOUS with the security cameras that do work. We only stayed 1 night, anything longer I would not have felt comfortable to stay longer. Owner was professional, don't expect sunshine & smiles. I specifically called b4 making reservation to confirm dog was ok, other reviews commented they were happy u could bring the dog, the owner tried to tell me no pets, I said that isn't what you told me on the phone, he just said OK, pay separate, cash $15. Rooms are Old!! but clean bathroom toilet u had to sit sideways. Sheets & linens OLD but clean. They don't use fitted sheets which ALWAYS grosses me out...come on spend the few extra dollars don't be so cheAp. Lucky had a king size comforter in my car & it made me mentally feel better I had another layer of protection between me & the mattress (which did have a protector on it). There was a mystery room in my room, locked but a dirty exhaust fan was at the top of the door and you could see sunshine coming from the other side...just was odd and my dog kept sniffing it like there was "something" on the other side. Bottom line this hotel was CHEAP and it was close to Cape may. I have no desire to stay here again, but it doesn't mean it was not a good enough place for others.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It’s was no like the pictures on Expedia the pool was not in service looks like they are not fixing it.. just the motel over all I was very disappointed.. not my top choice motel
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It was pretty gross but that’s to be expected for that price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Backache the next day horrible bed - I got a backache the next day my left arm hurts like crazy it's not that clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice location. Cute room.....room pleasant. All was lovely, except day of
Checkout. I was due to Checkout at 11 am. I clean up prior to leaving.
Between 10 and 11 am, as i was reading emails, 3 times desk staff
Banging on door. 3 times i politely stated im cleaning and will leave at 11.
The third time was the woman desk attendant really yelling in.
I travel all over the world, my entire life. Im an experienced traveler. This
Last morning was obnoxious. My entire 3 days i was really quiet, just myself, i did not need the morning headache.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - it was nice.
- Tracey (2/5): - Nothing was special about this place the staff are rude and they charge for stuff that u already paid for
- lisa (4/5): Drug addict clientel and mold in rooms - Horrible mold on the shower ceiling with a huge hole used soap never cleaned from previous people. People who were staying in the ajoining room you could see into their room they could look directly into our room. The doors didnt fit properly. Ceiling above the bed had mold on it. They must of been mandated by the state to house homeless. Allot of drugs used needles on the property. Owner was trying to husle me with the pet fee and refused to let me put on my credit card would only take cash. Place is shady would not recomend or ever go back.
- Angela (6/5): separate bedroom early checkout time - It was great having a separate room for the kids
There are no shampoos and such
Checkout time of 10am is too early
Especially when checking in late
Most places are 11-12 standard checkout times with no issue to extend an hour
- Verified traveler (6/5): Its fine - Basic needs met. Staff friendly & helpful.
Main complaint: "Rio Grande" is in the name of the motel. I thought it was the address & that would've made this place lots closer to the beach. I should've looked closer.
- Sheri (2/5): Not impressive to say the least - Room dirty.. bathroom had mold at sink & tub areas .. after 1st night stay we needed up turning in key & booked another room at another place nearby. When your traveling with our family not something you take lightly.
- Rick (4/5): - The things we did not like are the noise level of guests, the height of tables because I am handicapped.the lack of more electrical outlets.
- Alla (8/5): Nice stay - Last minute booking. Motel is next to shopping center and supermarket. Nothing fancy but we had all we needed. Quick easy check in, comfortable bed and clean linen. 10 min to Cape May center and beaches. If you are looking for a budget 1 or 2 night stay, it is a good choice.
- CarlosAcevedo (10/5): - Our stay was great the room was very clean. For a pet friendly place it sure was very clean . I’ve stayed in many pet friendly places but this one sure didn’t look pet friendly due to the cleanest .
- Richard (6/5): Decent - They're not really any good hotels/ motels at Wildwood. So in comparison to the area and price it's good.
- Vicki (2/5): - Read my other review!!! Horrable!!!
- Vicki (2/5): No - In one word should you book here No. We booked 3 one night stays (they were nonrefundable) , but under the circumstance very Disappointing. We were unable travel due to Covid 19 Need to quarantine for 2 weeks. Both the motel and hotel.com were contacted. The motel manager call to say stop calling him we booked through hotels.com it's up to them. Hotels.com says it's up to the no them, Just the way the motel left a message says it all. I will not book there or through hotels.com agsin (cold, mechancial customrr service
- Dawn (2/5): - It was horrible in 90 degree weather The air did not work.
- Julia (6/5): Good for the money deal - The bed was comfortable and huge! We got clean new towels everyday. The air conditioning was awesome! Especially in a heat wave! Close to walk to shoprite. The room had a good fridge and a big 40 in tv! Bathroom had good hot and xole water!
- Jason (8/5): - Late night check in was easy, we arived around 11pm on the night of check in and it took less than five minutes to to hanle the process price was great and the location was perfect for us. I would not hesitated to use them again.
- bigray (8/5): - It was a great location. It was close to shops, restaurants, main highways. Very friendly staff. It was a very enjoyable stay.
- Jennifer (6/5): - Just a quick stop for a weekend get away. It was just a spot to sleep.
- Robert (6/5): Not so good... - Scratchy towels, a toilet under the sink and an extremely hard bed... probably not going to stay there again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Room was so uncomfortable the beds were not comfortable what so ever There was no shower pressure at ALL! I definitely will not be staying there again . I had back pain after I left there . Not recommended.
- Andrew (4/5): Paying too much for a shabby motel - The Indian guy showed no motion, greeting whatsoever...The room king size bed room has only one light, no night stands. No WIFI, false description on internet. There is a fan link to the room adjacent to mine, no privacy at all, suspected there may be camera or eavesdropping somewhere. The AC unit too loud, good luck with sleeping. The toilet is facing the sink, didn't know how to do you business if you were a big person. Only cheap soap on the sink with 2 shabby bath towels. This establish should be listed in motel.com, not hotel.com. Only pro about this room is smells nice. Not sure if I got bitten by bed bugs as I found several tiny pimple rashes on my foot. Good luck with your stay!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - needed fresh paint and different decor...power wash the steps
- ana (2/5): - Bad clean
- Joseph (8/5): Tiny bathroom - The hotel room was clean. Staff was friendly. The only problem with the room was that the bathroom was to small meaning that the shower was to small and the toilet was to close to the sink
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Room was small paint chipping off walls. Staff was not nice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was nothing unique to this motel. Walls were dirty, furniture was beat up, the bathroom was TOO small, and the shower had cracks in it.
