Guest Reviews
- Simon (2/5): *** READ THE FINE PRINT FIRST *** - I'd written a long review but the damn thing got lost when I submitted it.
Watch out for hidden 3.5% surcharge on your card which is only mentioned on you have confirmed your booking - and after they've taken your money. There is a $105 cleaning charge which is ok for a long stay but not for a few nights. There is no service during your stay.
Make sure you ring the 'onsite manager' (yeah right - they are at least 10mins away). Dont bother trying the Hotel staff they wont want to know as it is a private apartment in the hotel building, nothing to do with the hotel (no room service, cleaning etc), but you can use the pools and sauna. Ive written more in a photo I've uploaded as I ran out of text space in my original scathing review.
- Verified traveler (4/5): One to avoid. - Getting the keys was ok received a text in advance with instructions. The room booking was for my parents, retired, from out of town for a concert. Keen for it to be a little special for them. However all disappointed to find the room was filthy. Crumbs and hair in crevasses of couch cushions, hairs on the basin and rubber seals coming off the shower, fingerprints all over the chrome, it all felt very grubby. Parents sat on blankets on couch. To top it all, in the fine print of the reservation was a hidden cleaning charge of $105!!!! Outrageous. Definitely one to avoid.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The location was good, great balcony but not very good condition of outdoor furniture. Beds were comfortable. Older apartment but everything you need. Unfortunately the dishwasher was leaking when we arrived and continue to leak all over the kitchen floor the whole time we were in the apartment despite ringing to let them know.at least twice. Also asked for extra towels to mop up the floor continuously which didn't happen.
- Andrew (10/5): - Great location. Easy to find and check in. Great car parking facilities.
Would be good to have tea and coffee in room, or at least know it was not there. Not a major and definitely did not upset our stay.
Great rooftop pool area
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great central location. Room was large and had everything I needed
- Lorna (8/5): - Check in needs to be addressed. We waited in the hotel foyer for 45minutes before being met by the “onsite” supervisor who checked us in.
The apartment was very spacious and faultlessly clean. No complimentary tea or coffee but the free wifi was a very pleasant surprise.
Maintenance needs to be improved. The light above the vanity did not work, nor did one of the two lights in the lounge which made it very dark. There was a bulb missing from one of the bedside lamps.
There was confusion over the parking as we’d been told the supervisor would organise it. She told us there’s was none but we could use the public car park next door to the hotel. As it was the weekend we were lucky to get a park on the street which was cheap and convenient.
Guests have full access to all the hotel amenities which is a definite plus. Walking distance to the city centre and the vibrant viaduct. Overall very good value for the money and we would definitely stay here again. Next time, we’ll check the lighting before the supervisor leaves.
- Rowan (10/5): Coming back for another visit & bringing friends! - Value for money, venue was amazing, clean & welcoming.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Terrible communication and misleading advertising - I booked at what I thought from the pictures was the Heritage Hotel in Auckland. It turned out that while my apartment was in the building it was privately run. This was not at all clear when booking. When I went to check in the hotel had no record of me as I was not actually booked there. There was nothing on my itinerary to tell me how to check in and it took a phone call to wotif and then a wait for the person to turn up. All in all the check in took me about an hour from the time of my arrival. It then turned out that I couldn't get room service as I was not actually part of the hotel. The next morning my key no longer worked and when I contacted the agent she was out of town and wasn't back until 9pm that night. so the poor hotel staff had to keep running up and down to let me in which they didn't have to do. The agent promised that she would arrive at 9pm to fix the issue she didn't turn up and that meant I was still stuck with asking hotel staff to let me in. This also meant I couldn't use the facilities such as the gym. I felt ripped off. There was also no tea/coffee or milk which you would expect at a hotel so I had to purchase my own.
- Julie (8/5): Auckland CBD apartment - Very disappointing checkin
Key was not available on site & there was no one there to meet us even though we had advised our arrival information
The apartment was not what we had chosen and was unsatisfactory
We had to stay there the first night and we were moved the next day which was disrupting
This apartment was much nicer but still no balcony, no bath and only a queen bed
- Erlyn (10/5): Highly recommended accomodation - We are very pleased with the apartment. Centrally located close to restaurants and bus stops. We loved the indoor pool, spa and gym. Kids loved the Netflix. The apartment has fully equipped kitchen plus a washing machine.
But as this is a privately owned unit in a hotel there is no housekeeping. Overall, it was a great experience staying in this apartment and would definitely recommend to friends.
- J (8/5): Right In the CBD - Great location, handy to everything CBD. Walking distance to Spark Arena. Nice apartment. Pool, sauna, spa access rooftop pool.
Thanks 😊
- Lawrence (6/5): - Great location and easy access to the hotel. Apartment was spacious and self contained including washer/dryer. I found it a little “tired” in decor, bedding etc.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Relaxing 4 Days - Had a fabulous stay and the apartment was amazing. A full kitchen with everything you would need including a large fridge, great for the wine and water. Large dining and living space with an office work area, wooden floors. Large bathroom with washer and dryer. Spacious bedroom with room to put suitcases etc and not trip over them. All this in an amazing heritage building. Walking distance to Al Browns Depot and all the other restaurants in the area of Federal Street. Viaduct easy walk for meals at Giraffe and Hanoi.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent place - Amazing - roomy, easy access to the CBD (including Sky City).
- Verified traveler (6/5): City apartment - Nice apartment and very comfortable beds!
No complimentary tea or coffee.
No glass top on outside table to be able to eat on the amazingly large balcony.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Hotel was centrally located in the downtown core and the apartment unit was very comfortable and spacious. Would certainly recommend to others. Some miscommunication about parking led me to an offsite parking garage for 2 days, which ultimately cost me double the parking charges if I’d left the car onsite.
- Andrew (6/5): Room not as described - Getting the keys was a hassle. The apartment is in a hotel, but the hotel does not have the keys. You have to call and wait for the keys to be delivered. No parking at the hotel where you can wait for the keys. Cannot even park out the front as you get pushed along as it is an unofficial, and unsigned taxi wait area.
The shower mount bracket was missing so had to hold the shower head by hand. Reported it missing the day after arrival. Was told that they knew about it, but it would not be fixed. Very hard to shower when you only have one usable hand!!
The advertisement on hotels.com said the room had a king size bed and a combo bath/shower.
It didn't. Was a queen and a shower only. When we reported this the next day was told that the ad was a generic ad. We needed the king size bed and the bath/.shower combo.
Very disappointed that no attempt was made to fix the shower.
Very disappointed that the room was not as described and the contact did not even attempt to fix it.
The room description says limited cleaning. We found that limited cleaning = no cleaning. They will clean after you leave. We were there for 9 nights. More misleading descriptions.
- Logan (2/5): the booking did not exist - on arriving at hotel reception from overseas with our family (3 young children) we find that there was no booking with the hotel. The accommodation is not a hotel room but a privately owned apartment within the hotel building not managed by the hotel at all. the hotel reception staff were excellent, confirming that we had the correct address but that they had no details of our booking, despite showing them our confirmation email. then we tried to call the number on the Wotif booking confirmation. the number was incomplete had so I could not contact anyone. There was no contact information given at all (including no email or mobile). I am absolutely disgusted that Wotif would allow this booking to occur without any vetting of the accommodation provider. We still do not know who the accommodation provider or manager was/is. Do not ever use this accommodation, particularly if coming from overseas. I will never use Wotif again as a result of this experience.
- LeauBabe (6/5): Shower or not - The shower head wasn't stabilised and therefore difficult to shower. The sink in the bathroom wasn't made for short people (i.e. it was a struggle to brush you teeth over the sink). The television in the living room wasn't working. On our second night, there was a leak from the ceiling and not sure where it came from however it did stop when we turned off the dryer and the air conditioner. The bed wasn't a King size as it claimed to be.
- Hog (4/5): location the only positive - Check in was an issue due to late arrival of owners representative.
Hotel staff not interested as this rental is outside of hotel operations.
