• Harald (9/5): Tolles Gästehaus für einen Aufenthalt in Negombo - Kleines Gäste Haus, etwas zurückliegend von der Straße und dadurch schön ruhig. Unser Zimmer was geschmackvoll eingerichtet, die Dusche im Bad getrennt vom Rest. Sehr sauber! Sogar mit Balkon! Alles fußläufig entfernt: Strand, Shops und Restaurants. Wir konnten gegen Aufpreis unser Zimmer wegen der späten Flugzeit bis zur Abreise nutzen! Frühstück kann dazugebucht werden. Es war alles top.

• Thomas (10/5): Great quiet stay - Big spacious room with a balcony. Good desk and internet for working. Good location, very close to main roads and beach. But still quiet and private. Very nice. We could park our tuktuk in the yard. We liked it all! To be honest I wouldn’t recommend staying in Negombo longer than 1 day. But if you really have to, this is a good place to be.

• Micaela (8/5): Perla in centro e a due passi dal mare - Carinissimo hotel proprio in Cento e a due passi dalla spiaggia. Molto pulito e curato sia l hotel che la camera. WiFi ottimo e colazione buona con roti, marmellata uova cipolle e pane. Ottimo il distributore di acqua potabile per reunite le borracce quando si vuole. Personale gentile e disponibile. Aria condizionata freddava poco. Abbiamo dovuto usare il ventilatore che era parecchio rumoroso.

• yandy (6/5): Really affordable place to go to when you just arrive in Sri Lanka from the airport. - Breakfast provided was great. Location was wonderful to walk to the beach, shops or restaurants. Room was spacious and the staff helped check us in when our flight was delayed in the early morning. The AC caused a damp smell and the refrigerator was not plugged in, meaning it also didn't smell too great. Perhaps need a new kettle in the room as it was yellowing.

• Companion818866 (2/5): Beware - unless you want to get cheated like me - Do not book this place, I had a confirmed booking, when I arrived from India, initially the attendant, told me there's no booking, after trying to contact flipkart and clear trip whise customer support is equally pathetic, after some time she checked her mail and said there is booking but no room available, later she gave me a single bed room, which was not yhe toom i booked, the lady was continously demanding me to either tale the room or leave the property. As I was tired and there was no support from flipkart or clear trip, was forced to take the room. The room condition is also poor the ac doesn't work, no kettle, wifi is pathetic namesake only. The fan squeaks. Do not book this place, as it was midnight I really had no option the ans from cleartrip and the property attendant was take the room or cancel the booking was pathetic, Just to save a few bucks please do not fall in the similar mess I am in. Stay clear.......
• Katrin (7/5): Good - Good location just off of the main road. Very spacious room with a big bed and good WiFi. The worst thing was that our room was full of mosquitoes; we must have killed at least 15 until late at night and still didn’t catch them all. The walls could very well do with a coat of paint and the room im general with a good wipe down. The quote for a taxi to the airport we got from the manager lady was outrageously high and we ended up spending a third of what she quoted us on a taxi we organised ourselves. Breakfast was interesting/unusual (eggs, bruschetta, hashbrown). Certainly not a bad place to stay, but overpriced for what it is.

We had a good Sri Lankan meal there and the best from our whole trip. It’s a home turned hotel. There were no hand towels provided in bathroom. Lighting in the room was very low and felt depressing. Fan was noisy.

• Katherine (10/5): - I arrived at the hotel at around 5 am and the owner kindly let me check in at that time (I had paid for the previous night) so didn't have to hang out at the airport forever after an extremely long trip to Sri Lanka which I had read was an issue at other hotels. Breakfast was fantastic. Rooms were very basic but clean. There was tea and coffee in the room but no heating kettle, so you couldn't actually make coffee even though instant coffee was sitting there was there which was a bummer. Lovely property. It's just off the main road (about 1/2 block) down an alley, so was hard to find in the dark until we called and the owner turned on a large lit-up sign. Location is easy walking access to dozens of restaurants, souvenir shops, and other stores so was a good location to be at. Easy walk to the beach and very easy to catch a Tuk tuk on the main road to go into the heart of town or the airport. It's maybe a 15-min drive to the airport. Would def. stay here again and would recommend to others.

• Gunasekaran (5/5): Passable - The place of the hotel is very near to the beaches and all must-see places in negombo. 1. We are not used to showering - hand showers would have helped the guest, but there are no hand showers. I had two kids We had to make them bath, which was very difficult as it had only showers. A tap with a bucket filling would.have helped but there is no provision. 2. When you are occupying the room, make sure you ask them whether they will provide towels on a daily basis or we have to use the same towels for 3 days. (I quote as they explained to me "The hotel will clean the room once in three days, and no towels will be provided and you have to use them as long as your stay is. ) 3. If you ask for an extra towel make sure you are ready to pay LKR 250/- per towel. 4. Only one 500 ml water bottle is provided for our entire 3 days, as they don't have a policy to give the guest water bottles. I went out and bought 5Ltr bottle to make us comfortable for the rest of our stay 5. When I asked about basic hygiene should be provided for the guest like towels on daily basis or atleast when guest request. (I quote the reply "sir, we are 2 ⭐ hotel, if you need towels on a daily basis you have to stay in 5 ⭐ hotel ) 6. When I saw the feedbacks of various guest i felt like the admins and the manager of the hotel is good, but it is totally different. (If you are thinking of hygiene and basic needs - this is not the hotel to be staying, rather look out for a hotel who provides basic needs ) They are very adamant on the timings even though the hotel is not fully occupied, in fact we were the only guest staying in the premises asked to vacate. They are not flexible with the timing. So please don't think they are very polite in the timing of entry and exit.

• Yijing (4/5): It's the worst hotel I stayed in Sri Lanka. - The location is very good, and it takes 3 minutes to get to the beach It's the worst hotel I stayed in Sri Lanka. The manager of the hotel actually asked my driver to take my luggage to the room instead of the hotel staff, but I paid service fee. The air conditioner couldn't work well，and fan makes big noise, couldn’t sleep well. The power socket is loose and unsafe. The water bottle has been opened and feels unsanitary. The most depressing thing is that we booked a triple room (one big bed and one small bed) on the website, but only gave a room with two small beds, and the charge was the same as that of a triple room. The front didn't apologize for the mistake,but only argued irrationally. Bad attitude.
• Timbo77 (9/5): Great value option by the beach in Negombo. - Great hotel only metres from the beach in Negombo. Room was clean and comfortable, with an excellent AC unit to keep me cool. Breakfast was delicious, and cooked to order. Great value for money. V highly recommended. It would have been nice to have a fridge in my room. The power is turned on using a key fob, I suspect so that guests don't leave the AC running all the time when they're out. I needed to charge several items ahead of my flight back to the UK, and could only do this when I was in my room.

• Robert (8/5): We enjoyed the hotel and the area. The response to any requests was quick and helpful. Would recommend this value for - Lovely room, helpful management and staff. Close to beach, shops and restaurants. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Sharmen was very helpful and made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. Which it was. It was very good value for money despite some minor things mentioned below. We stayed for 7 nights. Did not fully meet Booking.com description of facilities. I.e there was no safety deposit box, had to request a fridge which was delivered the following day but was not a mini bar. Tea, coffee and milk were not replenished unless asked for, this was also the same for towels and room cleaning. However the response was good.

• Marta (2/5): Unpleasant - Shanelo is not recommended. Drivers couldn’t find the place, poor address and signage, didn’t answer phone after 4 tries. Internet only on 1 of 3 days. Cold, inhospitable staff who are not helpful. Booking says they take credit cards but couldn’t take a credit card. Woman says, “that’s not my problem.” It shouldn’t be my problem! Place not recommended at all.
• Christina (10/5): - What a great place! Nicely furnished, clean & comfortable. The owner is FANTASTIC & she makes a yummy breakfast every morning. Everything that you need is nearby, restaurants, bars, live music, shopping. The beach is directly across the street. You can also use the facilities of the resort across the street for 2,000 rupees per day. This includes beach chairs, towel, pool, wi-fi, restaurant & bar. I would definitely stay here again if I ever return to Sri Lanka.

Was in twin room and was bitten by bed bugs or dust mites until i had to switch bed. Would be helpful too if shampoo, conditioner, adult size bath towels were provided.

• Christopher (10/5): A lovely stay! - A really nice hotel about fifty yards from Negombo beach. It is in a little alley off the main road and is well situated and clean. The staff were lovely also. A tuk tuk will take you to the main sites in a few mins for about 500 rupees. The locals are really lovely - almost everyone will stop to speak to you or to say good morning. A really nice start to a month in Sri Lanka!

• Lenka (10/5): - I can only recommend this place. The owner is absolutely lovely, she communicate all the time. she tried to help us as much as possible. THe room was nice, clean and no smell. That was one of the best things. Even when we stayed in other places including 4* hotels, the smell was terrible. So for sure I would return to this place anytime. Highly recommend it.
