• Andrew (2/5): Give the Boutique hotel the boot! - On the night of our arrival for a one-night stay the hotel was closed for refurbishment. We had not been told in advance, and had a frantic search for alternative accommodation. The Boutique Hotel has to date not replied to our e-mail, so we are currently out of pocket.
• Verified traveler (2/5): - Schlechtes Management und ungeschultes Personal! Uns wurde trotz Bezahlung bei Expedia das Zimmer ein zweites Mal berechnet. Da bei der morgendlichen Abreise nur der sehr schlecht Englisch sprechende Nachtportier da war, haben wir das Zimmer ein zweites Mal bezahlt. Leider ist das Management innerhalb drei Wochen nicht in der Lage die Doppelzahlung zu verifizieren und das zuviel gezahlte Geld zurückzuzahlen.

Shame that dinner was not offered in the evenings. This service seems to have been ceased for some reason, nobody could give us a reason. Our trip and stay here was very pleasant.

This hotel charged me for the stay even though I had prepaid with you. This means that I have double paid. Despite my request to the hotel for reimbursement, they were unwilling to do so at the time we checked out. Please will you contact the hotel to ask them to refund my money?

A very clean comfortable room, good breakfast included All the staff were friendly and very helpful. Tea/coffee facilities in the room would have made it perfect. The village has a pleasant atmosphere and a number of bars and restaurants that offer excellent quality food far cheaper than Funchal.

Pas de nuisances dûes à celui-ci car le trafic est peu important La chambre est de grande dimension avec une salle de bain très agréable. Prendre le petit déjeuner ou un dîner au rooftop (6ème étage) avec vue sur la mer et sur la ville est un plaisir incomparable. Le personnel est très compétent et toujours avec le sourire, que ce soit à la réception ou au petit déjeuner.
• Chivvy (10/5): - A lovely small hotel close to the beach. Very clean, good sized bedroom and excellent views from the balcony. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a good selection for breakfast and eating on the roof top terrace was great. If I were to be picky then it would have been nice to have had a tea/coffee facility either in the room or from a vending machine in the hotel.
• Mike (10/5): - We stayed here for 10 nights and had a lovely time. The view from the beach facing rooms is stunning so try to get as high a floor as possible. The room was very comfortable although it would have been nice to have had more drawer space for clothes and extra hangers for the wardrobe. The bathroom was very modern with a walk in shower space and “drench” shower head with lots of hot water and plenty of pressure. Breakfast buffet was tasty if a little repetitive but set us up nicely for the day. Evening meals were very good and all the staff were helpful and friendly. The village itself is fairly quiet with plenty of restaurants and coffee shops to chose from and the promenade is a popular walk taking you from the lido at the western end to under the end of the airport runway at the eastern end of the village. Talking of lido’s there are 2 in Santa Cruz but while we were there the western one was not open at all (maybe it’s just open in the summer months) and the lifeguards at the other only operate up to the end of September although the area was still available to use during our visit which was until 8th Oct. The beach itself is very rocky so not comfortable to lie on but there were large boards to stretch out on if you want to catch a few rays. It’s worth pointing out though that the boards were being collected in on the day we left so it looks as if they are a summer thing too. We had a lovely time in Santa Cruz and certainly intend to return.

• Constantin (10/5): Modern hotel very close to airport - convenient, modern hotel within walking distance to quite a few restaurants, good bathroom, balcony with sea view, nice personal, drawback: due to the airport being very close planes regularly fly over the building, thus noise level can be quite high, but it also means the airport can be reached by car within minutes
• Eric (10/5): Nice boutique airport hotel on beach - We spent one night at this hotel before moving to our timeshare trade in Funchal. We especially enjoyed the lovely dinner and included breskfast on the scenic rooftop restaurant. Everyone at the hotel from reception to the restaurant staff were helpful and nice. The hotel is right onnnthe beach if you don't mind rocks or bring water shoes. The water is very refreshing!
• Ally (10/5): Cute hotel with good location to airport - We stayed in the Santa Cruz Boutique Hotel for one night when we arrived in Madeira. We arrived very late at night (4am), and they were kind enough to have the security check us in since the front desk staff had gone home. The room was clean, the beds were comfy, and we had a nice view of the beach. The breakfast buffet was delicious the next morning. I'd definitely stay here again.

• Steffen (10/5): - Das Hotel hat eine hervorragende Lage. Es hat eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das überaus freundliche und durchweg hilfsbereite Personal! Sie haben für uns den Aufenthalt noch mal angenehmer gestaltet, wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Hervorzuheben ist die Frühstücksterasse, sie hat eine außergewöhnlich schöne und imposante Aussicht. Fast alle Zimmer haben Balkon mit direktem und freien Meerblick. Die Zimmer sind großzügig gestaltet, auch das Bad. Der in unmittelbarer Nähe gelegene Flughafen hat uns nicht gestört da man die anfliegenden Maschinen fast nicht wahrnimmt, weil man sie nur sehr kurz hört. Wir können das Hotel uneingeschränkt empfehlen, wir würden da sofort wieder einchecken. Die Landschaft Maderas ist für Wanderer ideal, das Klima war zu unserer Zeit im Süden schön, im Norden sehr windig, neblig und kalt. Aber mit wetterfester Kleidung kein Problem. Sehr zu empfehlen ist ein Leihauto von einem der zahlreichen Verleiher auf der Insel. Es macht den Aufenthalt dort wesentlich einfacher, besonders da die Wanderstrecken ( Levadas) fast immer etwas außerhalb liegen.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice little gem close to the airport - If you are looking to stay somewhere near the Funchal airport, you can't beat this place. Only 4 min away by taxi and will set you back EUR 7 for the ride. The hotel is clean and upscale facing the town square and the ocean. Considering that there are few flights into Funchal, there is not much noise from the airplanes and it's cool to see them land (they don't pass by here when taking off). The staff were pleasant and the room clean.
• Thierry (8/5): Bonne adresse pour une halte - Nous avons fait escale une nuit dès notre arrivée à Madère. Hôtel à 5 minutes de l’aéroport en taxi (6€). Accueil très aimable et chambre spacieuse et propre. Nous avons eu une chambre avec un balcon qui donne directement sur une place, le marché couvert et la mer. Plein de commerces autour et à 2 pas du centre de la ville. Petit déjeuner dans la salle du restaurant au dernier étage avec une belle vue panoramique
• Grace (8/5): Nice hotel - The hotel was nice, clean and modern. The staff were friendly and they had a luggage room and printed our boarding passes for us as we had changed our flights. Breakfast was on a beautiful rooftop terrace and the food was fine. We did have to pay a €2 tax even though we had paid taxes online but that was not a big problem. The actual area it's in has nothing to do really, but it's only 10 minutes from the airport.

• Sue (10/5): Lovely new hotel in excellent location - surprised that the restaurant was closed for anything other than breakfast, no bar facility or snack menu forcing people to eat outside of hotel every day and evening
• SueandPeter (10/5): Would definitely revisit - The hotel is in a great position in Santa Cruz. The staff are all friendly and helpful and the rooms of a good size, really clean and all seem to be sea facing. The breakfast is perfectly good (despite some reviews suggesting otherwise). Because we were there in February the restaurant was close in the evening, a little disappointing but a good few bars and restaurants are nearby to the hotel. Parking is in the car park next to the hotel at .80 € per hour for all 24 hours, however you can park on the streets (blue line marked places) for .40 € an hour, only payable 8pm to 8am. Tip: if you overpay before 6pm or buy a ticket after that time it gives you the relevant amount of time after 8am the next morning so you do not need to rush out too early to buy a ticket. We would recommend this hotel and definitely return if in Madeira.
• Guilherme (10/5): Preço fantástico e instalações impecáveis - O hotel é bastante novo. Os quartos são amplos, muito limpos e conservados, e a sacada para a praia é um diferencial interessante. Os banheiros são muito grandes e limpos. A cama é bastante confortável e as roupas de cama e banho eram boas e estavam limpas. A TV do quarto era de um tamanho bom. O WiFi era de boa qualidade. O staff do hotel estava bastante preparado e todos os funcionários eram bastante prestativos e educados. O hotel fica bastante perto do aeroporto e fica próximo a bares, restaurantes, padarias e supermercado. O café da manhã era de qualidade e estava bem saboroso. O ar condicionado funcionava corretamente.
• Nicholas (10/5): Excellent small hotel. - This is the first time we have stayed in Santa Cruz and we're aware that we would be more or less under the flight path - this may not suit some people, but we actually enjoyed seeing the planes in ( it's not Gatwick after all). The view from our 2nd floor room was about 75 yards from the sea, overlooking a square. We had a balcony which was well shielded from the winds. (The weather was not particularly good for our stay). The hotel was immaculately clean. The reception, bar/restaurant staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfast was OK, but if critical, it could have been served a bit warmer - there was plenty of choice. Air con in the room was efficient and quiet enough to be on overnight. The shower wa excellent, with very good water pressure. The views from the 6th floor restaurant would have been lovely in better weather. We paid £45 per night for B&B and would definitely stay again. Santa Cruz is a lovely little village/town, with quite a few restaurants and bars. Has a good atmosphere.

• mary (8/5): 2 night stay. - Exceptionally clean with sufficient facilities. ..Friendly staff...Good breakfast... evening meal was not so good... husband had to send steak back, too chewy but they were curious... we were put in room 14 overlooking sea, just beautiful until about 6am when the taxi drivers arrived and parked up, scrambled out of their cars and spoke in such a Hugh pitch on both mornings , t would waken the dead... On holidays over Christmas it is exceptionally unpleasant to be woken u at this hour and it never stopped... only for this we would have given a 5 star rating.. great location
• Heather (10/5): Can not fault this delightful little hotel. - On booking in the staff were welcoming and genuinely warm. The room was excellent with huge picture windows onto the balcony overlooking the market square and ocean. It was the attention to detail that we loved. The corridors were like comfortable rooms with hidden lighting and small wooden framed prints on the walls. They didn’t feel utilitarian. The lift was clean and smelt gorgeous. The bed was huge and comfortable with “proper” pillows. The power shower had two heads and was instant and hot. Breakfast was excellent and the staff charming. There was always something to watch from the balcony in this delightful Madeiran town.
