Guest Reviews

- Nancy (9/5): A lovely hidden gem of a hotel - The Decu Downtown is an oasis tucked away on a quiet, safe street about a 10 minute walk from the Gran Plaza and historic sites. It has a lovely pool, surrounded by palm trees and the sounds of birds, and offers 24/7 coffee, and healthy included breakfast. Meals were delicious and served in a small, airy setting. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the whole ambience is of a courtyard unlike a typical city hotel. WiFi signal in the room further away from the main entrance was less strong.
- Yvette (10/5): - Heel smaakvol ingericht, vriendelijk personeel en superleuke stad!
- Houda (10/5): -
- Louise (10/5): - The location was wonderful near the center of Merida, we loved our time there. The rooms are so beautiful and comfortable, with great air conditioning and toiletries.

- Laszlo (8/5): -
- Diyan (7/5): - Extremely beautiful, comfortable and beautifully located hotel. Unfortunately, very low level of service. At breakfast, a lot of staff, and you wait half an hour for a sandwich, which is served to you...cold. I do not recommend buying BB, there is only one choice of breakfast, the rest is paid for.
- Yadira (6/5): -
- Mikaya (10/5): A Great Hotel - The location, the rooms, the staff and the food was excellent. Nothing
- Sarah (10/5): Exceeds Expectations - Wonderful stay - the hotel is beautiful, the staff are so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was refreshing and filling and the pool was a delight. I recommend the Decu Downtown very highly.
- Bernadette (10/5): Stunning hotel!! - The property was one of the most beautiful boutique hotels I’ve stayed at. And I’ve traveled to many places around the world, Every single detail was thoughtfully designed. The rooms were serene and the service was impeccable. I can’t wait to return!!
- Adrian (6/5): - Goteras dentro del cuarto. Atencion del personal de primera.
- Alexandre (10/5): - All good will be back
- Maria Grazia (10/5): -
- Joshua (10/5): - Warm and attentive service, clean and aesthetically pleasing environment.
- Catherine (10/5): Beautiful, tranquil place near the old town. - Beautiful and peaceful hotel in a restored home. Quiet just off the center of the old town but close enough to walk. Everyone there was welcoming and helpful.
- Marc (10/5): -
- Marius (10/5): Stunning stay in a beautiful area of Merida - Stunning hotel, wonderful side. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. My son has a food allergy and they were so sweet we and careful the whole time. It’s cleaned every day of the stay, and the location is ideal for exploring downtown/old town. Delicious breakfast made to order. We would absolutely return. Nothing. It was great.
- Maria (9/5): Superb -
- Alex (10/5): Met expectations - Everything was superb! The staff is by far the best thing here along with a beautiful space
- Sebastian (10/5): Exceptional - Very very niceley decorated and a cool courtyard
- Paulina (10/5): - Nos dieron un trato increíble a nosotros y a nuestros perros <3
Un muy bello lugar
- Gamaliel (8/5): - Beautiful place in safe convenient central location in downtown Merida. Staff was friendly but a bit disorganized.
- Aamir (7/5): Good -
- Mcmullen (10/5): We had a great time and stay at Decu downtown, the staff, the property and location were amazing! - Amazing staff, location and property
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Priscila (10/5): Beautiful place with lovely staff - Beautiful colonial house with modern touches. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home, especially Natalie. Walking distance to a bunch of cool bars and restaurants.
- 321beth (10/5): Beautiful Hotel - This hotel lives up to the hype. I was in room number one, the room closest to the street, but it was totally quiet and restful. They let me do an early check-in for a fee which was great. I was visiting in the hottest time of the year, but their air conditioning worked really well. The free breakfast, their ceviche for a quick lunch, and all the drinks I had were great. The pool is a really nice way to escape the heat too. The mattress is a bit on the hard side for my personal taste, but the pillows were perfect and a fantastic room overall. The location is great too, right in between some major sites, and very close to calle 60. The staff were super kind and helpful. I can't wait to come back soon!
- Ricardo (10/5): - Great property. Clean and with an excellent location. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Vicente (10/5): Gran propiedad y excelentemente ubicada.
- Mikaya (10/5): A must stay! - This spot easily makes one of my top favorite stays. Imagine your ultra-cool, celebrity friend saying, “Hey, come crash at my fabulous vacation home for the weekend.” That’s exactly how this boutique hotel felt. It’s stylish, intimate, and totally relaxing. There’s even a speakeasy just for the hotel guest!
The location? Super walkable. The vibe? Effortlessly chic. But what really made the stay unforgettable? The staff. With only eight rooms, the service was next-level—like they read your mind before you even knew what you needed. BIG SHOUT OUT to Natalia, Angel, Alex
Jorge, Guetta, Evelyn, Elena, Sofía, Elsy, Don, Jorge and boss chica running the show Mercedes!
Every meal was a hit, the cocktails were delicious, and the design of the rooms? Chef’s kiss.
One heads-up: some rooms don’t have windows—but that’s part of the charm. This isn’t just a hotel, it’s a beautiful authentic home that’s been lovingly transformed into something truly special. Having to leave!
- 392susanneh (8/5): More 3,5🤩 than 4. Beautiful hotel. As in really beautiful. Kind staff but they cannot assist you. - The Deco is beautiful.
The staff was very welcoming.Great.
We needed some guidance about Merida. Quite difficult to get.
The Deco boasts of a Michelin star. There are a lot af Michelins in Mexico. We had drinks and drinks…
And breakfast. Far from what you would expect.
Would I stay again? Hrm. Perhaps because of the hotels beauty and if returning the staff must have found out where to go in Merida😊
- Hamza (10/5): An excellent luxury hotel -
- Iain (10/5): Great location, comfortable stay with excellent service - Location, characterful, comfortable, clean, excellent service.
- Galina (9/5): Treasure box - Gorgeous property, well maintained and clean. Staff is very kind and friendly. Natalya and the hotel manager were especially great helping us not only with Merida but also Mexico. The shower was not getting hot, but only warm. This needs to be fixed. Also the pool area needs a shower. This is especially useful if you are checking out and still have a flight later. It is hot in the city and it would have been amazing to take a shower before heading to the airport.
Saying this, we would still 100% recommend this hotel and its friendly staff.
- Anne (10/5): Felt like our very own hacienda! Beautiful accommodations. - Great staff! Beautiful pool. Incredibly clean.
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carolina (8/5): - Amazing service
- P6994XXrachelh (10/5): Just wow! A stunning boutique hotel in the heart of Merida - I couldn’t recommend Decu more. From the friendly and helpful hotel staff to the great food, comfortable room and stunning pool area and interior courtyard, this is the place to stay if you like a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city for your holidays. If I’m ever back in Merida, this is where I will be staying!
- Ivan (10/5): Amazing Place with Incredibly Helpful Staff - The place is magnificent, beautiful, well located, and I would give 10 stars to the staff if I could.
- Yigal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (10/5): - Very small intimate hotel with lots of open spaces to chill. Rooms are very quiet.
- Santiago (10/5): - All good
- Dominique (10/5): Nicest boutique hotel! - This boutique hotel was exceptional. The staff, the the style, the smells, the small touches in the room itself, everything. It’s right in centro so we were able to walk to restaurants and shopping. Despite being in centro it was super quiet in the hotel. I highly recommend this place to any type of traveler. There is absolutely nothing negative I can say about the place.
- Soiti (10/5): Exceptional -
- DPET (10/5): Gorgeous! - What a gorgeous hotel. A real little gem in a fabulous location minutes from many cool bars and restaurants.
We stayed in room 7 near to the cute pool and it was great. Such a comfortable bed and nice shower room.
The staff are superb. So friendly and always on hand.
I can’t wait to go back!
- Emily (7/5): It’s a nice place but not a luxury hotel. More of a very clean stylish b and b. Overpriced - breakfast nice. fresh fruit and juice lovely.
would have like coffee machine in hotel room
hotel design and rooms very clean and looked after
quiet No parking - had to park close by at a very dirty horrible place.
They only had one bottle of white wine for the whole hotel - had to ask them to order wine for the next day).staff friendly but not a five star or luxury hotel standard.
pool not clean and not enough seating or shade for guests.
- Jessica (10/5): Can't wait to come back - I finished my first trip to Mexico with a 2 night stay here to unwind and relax and it delivered. The staff was lovely, the property lush with greenery and beautiful design. I look forward to visiting again once the speakeasy is ready for patrons!
- Elvira (10/5): Hidden Gem in Merida’s downtown - This hotel is a hidden gem, an Oasis in the middle of Merida downtown area. The hotel is beautiful, every single detail of the architecture and interior design is stunning and unique.
The staff are always welcoming and very friendly and professional.
The location is perfect! A few block from downtown main square and a few block from Paseo Montejo and el corredor gastronómico.
- ElviraAlger (10/5): Hidden gem in the city - Hidden gem in the city!!
This hotel is an oasis in the city. Such a beautiful hotel. The architecture is stunning, all the rooms are stunning.
But what really makes special this hotel is the staff!. The staff are super friendly, professional and welcoming.
Continental breakfast is included and it is delicious.
The hotel has an excellent location, a couple of blocks from downtown, the gastronomy street and Paseo Montejo.
- Jammy (10/5): Exceptional - The Hotel: A beautiful property with stunning original architecture and decorative details—truly candy for the eyes! The magnificent traveler’s palm trees in the courtyard were absolutely striking.
Room: Very comfortable overall. Good a king-size bed, a spacious bathroom with enough amenities.
Quietness: Despite being on a busy street, the inside of the hotel felt completely insulated from the noise of traffic. Room is very quite ( without the AC on)
Location: Quite good. While the street itself isn’t particularly interesting, the hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the city center. The walk is safe, even at night.
Parking: A paid private parking lot was available at another property right next door , and the cost was quite reasonable. The AC is a bit noisy, but acceptable
The mini bar's pricing is Switzerland level.
- Cesare (9/5): Excellent stay in Merida - Very good location. A nice old house nicely restarted . Mix of old and new. Close to the areas you want to visit Rooms ( most of them, ours ) have no windows. You can just open the top part of the door which is on the court. Strange feeling at first . We stayed 3 nights. Not a big problem.
- Loek (9/5): Superb - Pretty hotel, very kind staff, good location Breakfast was nice, but very basic, only fruit with granola and yoghurt and a sweet bread.
- Jeff (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): Fantastic small hotel in central location - Excellent location, gorgeous rooms and building. Staff are excellent, friendly and helpful, even arranged a driver from Mérida to our next stop in Quintana Roo. Breakfasts provided are tasty and fruit is fresh and delicious. Water always available in the lobby. Beds large and comfy. Shower is gorgeous with it's own skylight. Mini bar prices not crazy if you don't fancy the trip to the shops. Great stay in centre of town a short walk from a number of restaurants and the cathedral WiFi was slow on some days and we had issues connecting to the TV.
- Jenae (10/5): This place was the perfect refuge to rest and recharge. - The location was very central. It’s a small hotel so we often had the pool to ourselves. The staff was very helpful and when we experienced some hiccups in our trip and were not able to use a train they were able to help us hire car allowing us to continue with our plans.
- Sato (10/5): Beauty, serenity, and relaxation. - Absolutely beautiful property built around an elegant old colonial home and extended into a modern hotel. There’s a beautiful terrace restaurant/bar overlooking the pool and we found it completely relaxing. The continental breakfast was delicious and if you want more choices, you can order separately from the menu. Also, the staff went out of their way to look after our comfort. We would love to return some day!
- Georges-alexandre (9/5): Superb - Property was very beautiful, encompassing modern design in a traditional house. It was very well located.
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Vanessa (4/5): A rip off and not worth the money even with the "discount" on booking.com - The public areas are good. The rooms do not have widows you can open for starters. They over charged us x3 for wine when the couple with two screaming children were allowed to order a delivery pizza. We left the hotel for another much much better that is on Mr and Mrs Smith and the same wine was 65% cheaper.
- Isabellav (8/5): Lovely Boutique Hotel (not a 5 star) - Location is wonderful, really close to everything. The room was very clean, the pool was lovely and the bartending staff who made drinks were delightful . It is an oasis from the outside noisy streets. Room service was poor, food cold and not tasty. I think some of the staff is very young, inexperienced and definitely not schooled in the hospitality business, it basically felt like a bunch of kids running the hotel. Not a 5 five star experience, I'd say a solid 3 star.
- Franel123 (10/5): Perfect - The Decu is a beautiful oasis in Merida. The staff are so helpful and friendly and will go out of their way for you, I cannot praise them enough. The food was fabulous and the breakfasts also very nice. My only two suggestions would be please put more light or a magnifying mirror in the bathrooms as it was hard to see yourself. The rooms can also smell a little damp. Merida is a beautiful town and I wish we had given more time to exploring it.
- Amy (10/5): Excellent stay. Well taken care of. Staff was exceptional. - Decor Ringing the doorbell to enter
- rhinocar (10/5): High design oasis in the heart of the old city - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Decu. It is in a perfect location - quiet but only 10 minutes from most of the main sights, squares, cool restaurants, and landmarks in Merida. Made it easy to pop back to the hotel for a few hours to cool off by the pool. The rooms are big and very nicely designed. There are 8 rooms - four in the old part of the hacienda and then 4 in a back section that appears newer and more modern. We were in room 3 which was nice with super high ceilings. Our friend was in room 1 and it had beautiful floor tiles. Every design choice is well done and perfectly fits together. Although the hotel was full, we barely saw anyone. So you have this small staff who is always there to help. In some ways, it felt more like a B&B than a hotel (which we liked). But whenever we needed anything like a coffee or a drink, the staff were quickly on it! I can't imagine a better hotel in Merida where a lot of the hotels seems kind of dated (at least from outside appearances).
They also arranged a private tour guide to visit Uxmal and the experience was excellent. They also arranged for a welcome gift for our friend who was celebrating his birthday.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martha (10/5): Great experience - Loved the building but the staff made it super special Nothing
- Carlos (10/5): Bien chido! - Everything was splendid. The staff was super kind and the food and drinks on the pool area fantastic. Great getaway for couples. Only minor thing is that you need to knock for the hotel to open you the entrance of the premises
- Gony (10/5): Amazing place! - Everything- especially the staff who are awesome and caring The only thing i think can be improved is the breakfast, would be good to have more options available (not in an extra cost)
- Anahi (9/5): Superb -
- Jimena (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice hotel , the beds are so comfortable!! All the attention to details make it so beautiful. Great location with good restaurants with in walking distance. The staff was very friendly ☺️
- Melvin (9/5): Superb - Beautiful hotel! Fantastic service! We booked the room with double bed.
The beds very hard and uncomfortable.
- Paulina (10/5): - Excelente
- Paola (8/5): Nice stay in a luxury b&b - Great decor luxurious feeling. Lovely helpful staff, great breakfast, really good food for dinner albeit a bit limited menu. Relatively Expensive. The room was not really clean when we checked in, although it was cleaned much better afterwards. There were humidity stains on the wall and a big stain on the floor. The pool needs to be cleaned.
- Manuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edwina (10/5): Loved this hotel. Total oasis - Beautifully designed. Super peaceful . Very quiet . Nothing
- Dcharme (10/5): A Charming Boutique Hotel - We had the loveliest stay recently at Decu. It is the perfect dog-friendly boutique hotel. It's like a small paradise in a busy city. The bed was comfortable, bathroom was big with a large shower and lovely scented soaps. The room itself was spacious. Fantastic A/C! A breakfast of fruit, granola, coffee and other items were provided on an open air terrace. Felt like I was in a movie scene. Just heavenly. But where this boutique hotel really shines is in its employees and services. Hands down the greatest service ever provided at a hotel.
- kassandra (10/5): - Beautiful! Sad to leave
