- Suzanne (9/5): Nice person at reception, no issues, clean, great hot water and towels, easy breakfast -

- Frank (6/5): -
- Edwin (10/5): - Location and clean Outside main door was locked on arrival, no code, had to call attendant, she was awesome
- Rhonda (8/5): We enjoyed the stay and found it very comfortable. - The room was very clean and comfortable, although a little small for two. The layout of room 201 is a little odd but no issues at all. The stairs to the room were narrow and curved which could prove to be a problem for some people. Large suitcases would be difficult and should be mentioned if booking the upstairs rooms.
- David (10/5): Great place to stay - We stayed in the Inn but it was on a campground. For us we enjoyed that very much as we used to have a RV and it felt like old times. There was wood for a fire in the firepit, ice cream store, mini golf. The room was comfortable and clean. We will definitely stay there again when we are in the area.
- katharine (10/5): loved it - i'm so pleased to find a new place in the area! it's clean, user friendly quiet and comfortable.
- Christine (10/5): Beautiful room with great facilities - We arrived late, left early. The room was so comfortable, clean, easy access and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
- Peck (7/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Homey room with great shower and AC - At the front of an RV campground and putt putt golf resort is a house with 3 self-check in rooms. The private room with ensuite bath and AC was a perfect spot to rest before heading to pick up my child at camp the next day. If one stayed longer, videos and popcorn were available. It was hard to figure out where to park.
- W5189HZmonicah (2/5): Terrible customer service! - If I could give them a zero, I would. On the day of arrival I called the office to let them know I would be arriving late. They left the information that I needed to check in, in an unsecure location. First red flag! If the door code had worked, anyone could have been in my room!
The door code provided was supposed to be the last 4 of my phone number, but the code in the paperwork was completely different. I tried both and neither worked. I was not able to get into my room. They provided no after hours emergency phone number. After multiple attempts and multiple phone calls that went unanswered, we left and checked into a hotel down the road. I called the next morning, again unanswered, and left a voicemail, hoping to have the issue resolved. That was a week ago. I never even received the courtesy of a call back. I had reserved a room at the inn so I could tour the property in hopes of reserving for a large group next year. Their loss. We will definitely go somewhere else. I would not recommend this property to anyone. Their service is awful and they don't seem to care at all. I can't believe that after a week, no one has called me back. Thankfully I booked through a third party and was able to get a refund. If I had booked directly through them, I'm sure I would have been out of luck.
- Linda (8/5): Very good -
- Bruce (6/5): Tolerable. - Close to a venue we attended I didn’t find this as nice as the pictures. I am sensitive to smells and there were cleaning products used and an underlying moisture problem.
- Sandra (8/5): The mgmt made sure I knew were to locate my key for my after hour arrival. I appreciated the call! - It was quiet and very comfortable. For an older building, the room was very clean and well decorated. I also like that there were snacks, cereal and milk available just outside my door - Thank you! The stairs were very steep and narrow and it was difficult for me to carry my luggage up. The bed was a little soft for my liking and very low to the ground.
- Kathryn (7/5): Clean and comfortable accommodations for brief stay - Price, accommodation had fridge, coffee maker, corkscrew. Clean. Comfortable bed and linens. Not fancy but very adequate for place to sleep and have home base while visiting neighboring towns. Pretty basic and plain.
- Stephan (8/5): It's a friendly comfortable place and I would definitely stay there again. - A restful and quiet stop away from the busy highway but easy and quick to access. Reception was friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable. It was a good stop on our trip home to northern Vermont. Time to replace the carpet on the stairs to our room on the second floor.
- Megan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (9/5): Superb -
- Bill (8/5): Very good - Quiet. Very clean. Comfortable mattress
- Patrick (8/5): Very good -
- Amy (8/5): Very good - It was a cute, country stay. There was a pool, fire pit outside the room and a grill to cook on. The bed was a little hard for me, but most might enjoy. The spiders trying to get into the room at night were horrible. Also a kid puked in the pool as I got there so they closed the pool.
- Gail (9/5): Very convient. Secure location. Lovely room - Unique and very new and clean All good
Minor note: step stairs to second floor
- Scott (9/5): Superb - I very much enjoyed staying with you all. I was thinking it would have been nice to have access to the pool later in the evening. I was working and thought having a little dip in the pool would have been great after my day.
- Amy (6/5): The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bedding was very comfortable and I’d stay there again! - I loved the bedding, it was so soft! The conditioner was half used.
- Benny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachlin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maryanne (10/5): Perfect getaway in a stylish, comfortable, and quiet room! The host was so nice, too! Made us feel welcome! - So clean, quiet, comfortable, convenient, and hospitable! We liked everything!
- Pourya (1/5): If you want a place without responding to your request go for it -
- Michael (5/5): Price was way too high for this property. One place I would never recommend or stay again! - Nothing Very disappointed! It was an old house divided up into rooms. Located in a campground. Had to go through coded gates and drive around dumpsters to get to rooms.
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional - Staff was so nice, personally reached out to check on arrival time, so things could be ready for us. Super clean rooms and comfortable beds. Shower pressure could have been a little stronger but enough to get the job done.
- Emsellem (1/5): Bad - DO NOT USE BOOKING.com to stay at this Kampfires Inn. If you need to cancel after the *first day* you made your booking, you are charged full price. I discovered that we needed to cancel 10 days before our stay. The confirmation email I received from the Inn the day I booked said "A $25 cancellation fee applies to all cancellations Deposits are refundable, less a $25 cancellation fee, up to 5 days prior to check-in date."
I called that day to confirm that they had received my booking.com request to cancel and the gentleman on the phone confirmed that I was cancelling for $25 which seemed reasonable. However, I kept receiving notices that my booking was confirmed. I called the inn, and the friendly person on the phone, Crystal, let me know that I needed to call Booking.com. I called booking.com, and they said the inn had to respond to their message. Rinse and repeat for the next 10 days, until finally I got a text from the owner stating, "We are not waiving the $275. That is what she agreed to at booking. If she wanted a $25 cancellation fee she should book direct. This is the consequence of booking via a 3rd party."
I'll take the $275 lesson from the owner, Amy, despite the fact that the answer contradicted the information the Inn sent and the time and effort it took to get a straight answer. Never using Booking.com again.
- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- Janice (10/5): Exceptional - The property reached out to us regarding what time we would be arriving to make late arrival arrangements. The suite was warm, cozy and extremely clean. Nothing!
- Druann (6/5): Pleasant - Comfortable beds. Clogged sink. Dated carpet and furniture
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (8/5): Good location for a One Night Stay - We were a family of 4 adults, en route from Maine to New York City. This was a 1 night stopover. The room was a good size for 4 adults, including our luggage. The air conditioning was very welcome and we noted it was quiet with a constant fan setting during the night. Breakfast was a self-serve buffet or cereal, fruit and pastries situated just outside our room, to be eaten in our room. This was valuable as we all showered and got ready for the day, rather than a sit-down more formal setting.
There was plenty of car parking near the entrance to the Inn. The area was very quiet, probably due to a storm all night.
We drove to a restaurant 10 mins away for our evening meal, but there was a food truck located on site. However, due to the storm it was closed.
- Robert (10/5): Terrific, lots of fun, restful and relaxing. Wish the weather could have let us enjoy more of the a - Everything was clean, ready for checkk-in. Staff helpful and friendly.
Nice to have snacks available at all times. Steps to front porch entrance a little difficult to navigate with uneven steps and some mud because of rain.
- Malgorzata (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean room and facilities. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great overall for couples or families. Highly recommend!
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Schleifer (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was clean and ready when we arrived. The beds were comfy and the staff was very accommodating when I needed to stay an extra night. Oh and the ice cream..... Yum Couldn't open the windows. Not a big deal. Good ac
- Hen (8/5): Very good -
- Travis (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- JBThompsonNJ (10/5): Loved It! - My wife and I stayed in the Inn at Kampfires. Our room was clean and cozy for our 3 night stay. We enjoyed our private firepit and played horseshoes. The room had a blu-ray player and there were tons of movies to borrow. Loved it! The site was a short drive to downtown Brattleboro and local attractions so that was also a huge plus. Amy was wonderful and made sure we had a great stay. We will be back.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Great location on a budget - The Inn is very quaint. The bed was incredibly comfortable -- probably the most comfortable bed we've ever experienced at a hotel. The room wasn't as clean as I would have hoped. The doors to the bathroom fold, and didn't really close all the way. The advertised mini golf course is incredibly run down.
- Beth (10/5): We really enjoyed it! - Convenient Only thing I can think of is the steps going up to the porch area is way too high
- Adam (7/5): Comfortable rooms - Rooms were very simple and clean. Foam mattress was extremely comfortable after several weeks of using stuff hotel mattresses. They had snacks available for our kids and the mini golf and pool were nice to have. I didn’t quite understand from the photos that it’s an RV park with a very nice set of rooms connected to it.
- John (10/5): Amy was very welcoming and even picked me up from Brattleboro rail station - comfortable rioom nothing
- Miranda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laurel (4/5): Disappointing. - Friendly staff, comfortable bed, location. Public area leading to the room was not clean, no hangers in the room, the refrigerator did not work, smaller than it looked in the photos, informed it was an Air B&B, didn’t see this in the Booking.com description, this would have been a deal breaker for us, live and loud music played directly below our window for 2 hours in the evening, storm window was ajar, so, we had nothing between us and the noise. It was a wonky and eccentric place, the description needs to be more accurate and honest about the Air B & B status. We use Booking.com a lot and this fortunately was an aberration, but we were not happy. We left after the first night and stayed at a real hotel, not booked through Booking.com.
- Cloaninger (10/5): Clean and Comfortable - Clean, comfortable rooms. Very comfy bed. The breakfast options were good. Thank you for the whole milk option for cereal! The ice cream stand was a nice plus. Best value in Brattleboro. I was traveling for business, so I mentioned to my wife when I got home that we should return for a vacation and do some exploring in the area. Brattleboro is really nice!
- Paixao (10/5): Affordable great amazing property!! - We loved staying at the Inn at Kampfires!! It is such a kid friendly family destination!! The rooms at the Inn are clean, cozy, and comfortable!! We loved the fact that we had our own little campfire spot outside of our room, with our chairs and picnic table! The prices are very reasonable for the amenities that you get! The only thing we wish is that we could keep our little 20 lb. Dog with us at least if we camped on the campground part. The Inn area we totally get it, it's too nice & a dog could bark and annoy other guests at the Inn!
- Amelia (5/5): you need to fix your description of things included ... it is not sound proof - the bed was comfortable there were cobwebs
the bathroom doors were hard to manage
the neighbors walked upstairs and you could hear every step
there was no microwave even though it said there was
there really wasn't any property manager there was a teen girl who served ice cream and they were not even fully stocked on ice cream
there was hardly any snacks left out even though it said there were plenty available
- P3969UUalexs (10/5): Very impressive!! - We stayed here to get our heads down for 1 night whilst exploring Vermont road-tripping.
The room was larger than expected and VERY cosy. What hit us first is how lovely the room was decorated to create a relaxing and homely ambience. The beds were SO comfortable and just what was needed after hours of travelling. We slept extremely well.
The Inn itself is in a scenic location which looked very appealing in the Autumn colours and the room comes with your own area outside for having a campfire.
We thought the staff at the reception office were exceptional in making us feel welcome and were very friendly.
There was a big TV, fast wifi, and even a small complimentary breakfast which had a great selection for travellers. Bathroom was well stocked with towels and the entire room was very clean.
The only downside is - we wish we could've stayed longer! We had to move onto our next BNB but wish we had spent another night here instead as it was so cozy and comfortable. I highly recommend this place as it is great value for money especially when compared to other stays in the area which wouldn't have been as good as this! Truly a gem.
- Christina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (8/5): Enjoyed - Cold breakfast items were in a hallway. We stayed in the house. Bed very comfortable. Only wish our weather was better so we could have had a campfire and used pool. Will go back one day. Liked the Kuerig in room. Couldnt get the tv to work on cbs channel. Had all the streaming for TV.
- jtg1961 (10/5): Kozy Inn in a Kampfire Setting - This inn provides you with a campfire setting in the comfort of an inn. They provide each room with their own picnic bench, two chairs and a firepit with wood provided for a nightly campfire. Our room was well appointed and included a continental breakfast. The campground has many amenities and activities on site and provides a nice walk in the woods along its grounds. The staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leaann (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Was a great place to stay. Have recommended to friends and family. - Check in was very efficient. Great staff. the Inn was clean comfortable, and well stocked with snacks, coffee, and neccesities.
Would highly recommend. All was good!
- Lalonde (9/5): The best of both worlds - The room was great! The beds were comfortable. The pool and mini golf were nice. The fire pit with table and chairs and complimentary firewood was a nice touch as well. The coffee maker in the room did not work properly.
- Alberto (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice place!!! Everything was perfect
- Ian (9/5): Superb - The room was nice, a bit cozy but cool and quiet. The fire pit and provided wood were amazing to have since we could have our baby asleep in the room and sit by the fire with the monitor. nothing!
- Sheila (10/5): I had a lovely ti.e of with friends. We rented 3 rooms and socialized together. - The room had comfortable beds a table and chairs, a small refrigerator and a kurick. Healthy beakfast items were available at all times.
The roo s were clean. The shower was clean and large with large and soft bath towels . Quiet surroundings with activities available . I will return Leaving
- Kara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (10/5): Very Good - clean, happy place. food truck on premises was I’ll prepared- most of the menu crossed out.
- Julie (10/5): excellent - There was a lot for my four year old to do! everything was good.
- Julie (10/5): excellent - The accommodations are perfect. clean and spacious- lots of thoughtful touches like hooks for hanging wet clothes, split AC system that is quiet and effective, “snack attack” options for breakfast or whenever. my daughter loves the pool and the playground. it’s perfect. everything is great.
- Joseph (9/5): The place is different in a positive way. Not a cookie cutter corporate product. -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Robyn (9/5): Superb -
- duetraveler (10/5): Perfect Room! - We only spent one night at Inn at Kampfires, but I wish we had more time here. The room was perfect. The beds were AMAZING! They were memory foam, not too soft or firm, just right. I seriously slept the best here. I then compared every other bed we stayed in to these, none were even close. The room was a great size for a family of 4, (kids 8 & 10) 2 queen size beds. They had a nice (although slim) DVD and book selection we borrowed from. We did not get a chance to use the pool or mini golf. It was raining and chilly the one night we were there. There is also a designated fire pit with 2 Adirondack chairs and a picnic table for each room. (4 rooms total) We did get to use the playground set a little bit. It was a nice way for the kids to run off some energy after being in the car most of the day. There was so much to do on this one small property.
There was a small snack bar with a few breakfast selections on the landing outside our room. It had cereal, yogurt, several juice options, milk, creamer, individual chips and granola/cereal bars. It was fine for a quick breakfast bite before we moved on to our next stop.
We spent 8 nights touring Vermont/Montreal, this was by far my favorite place we stayed. It was SUPER clean and the room was so comfortable. IF you are passing through Brattleboro, do yourself a favor and stay here! A fantastic value for the money.
Also, try Whetstone Brewery. It was overlooking the river and right near a cool bridge. Less than 10 minutes from the hotel. (It is somehow connected with the operator of Kampfires, but it was delicious and made for a fantastic dinner sitting on the patio)
- cyno503 (10/5): Super Comfortable B&B - My family of four (2 boys - ages 9 & 6) spent one night in the Two Queen Bed Guest Room #202 on Aug 26, 2018, and we absolutely loved it! We were on 1 week+ road trip from NJ to ME, otherwise we would have spent at least one more night to enjoy the comfortable lodgings and the nearby sights.
The check-in process was quick and easy. We drove straight from a Family Float river rafting tour in the Berkshires and arrived shortly before the main office closed for the night. They were awaiting our arrival, so we had our room key within 5 minutes.
Room #202 is on the second floor with the snack area right outside the door, which my milk and cereal addicted son loved. (The area was well stocked with cereal, fresh fruit, granola and a mini fridge with bottled water, yogurt, juices, milk and half & half.) The stairway is a bit narrow, so be careful if you have large suitcases. Since we knew were only staying one night, we had prepped a smaller overnight duffle bag to use along our road trip, which was especially helpful at Kampfires.
The room was spacious for our little family to sprawl to watch tv or read/browse tablets as well as a little table for pre-bedtime snacks. We stayed in a total of 6 hotels during our trip, and the beds at Kampfires were by far the most comfortable. Sheets were VERY soft, beds were just the right firmness and plenty of pillows.
The TV uses Roku instead of traditional cable, which was absolutely fine for us, as that's what we regularly use at home. The complimentary wi-fi is limited to two devices per room, but my kids could have watched their YouTube videos on the Roku, if they wanted (but they didn't). I used the wi-fi for internet browsing to research our sightseeing activities for the next day, and the speed was more than adequate.
We were the only guests at the inn for the evening, so we had a wonderfully quiet night's rest. Had we not been so tired from the rafting trip, we would have definitely taken advantage of our room's dedicated campfire area beside our dedicated parking space or the inviting inground pool. We did, however, get to enjoy a round of mini golf before we left which we all enjoyed.
The campground also offers guest laundry facilities which is very helpful for families on the road for extended trips. I didn't get to use them myself, however, because the posted hours begin at 10am-8pm.
If I had to note any criticisms it would only be that the water pressure in the shower was a little low and there isn't much shelf space in the bathroom, but those are the only negatives I can think of, and they did not diminish our opinion of the inn at all.
One final tip... the owners also own Whetstone Station Restaurant and Brewery in downtown Brattleboro, which we went to for lunch before leaving the area. The location is absolutely gorgeous and the food is wonderful. I highly recommend stopping there for a bite if you can.
- discotrek2 (10/5): Beautifully styled inn with lots of comfort! - The hosts thought of everything to make one's stay relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable. A real feel good experience. Our room was super clean as was the entire inn and grounds. The pool was great and the ice cream stand a cool bonus! Will definitely be back.
