• Michelle (10/5): Wunderschöner Aufenthalt mit herzlichen Gastgebern - Unglaublich nette und hilfsbereite Gastgeber in einer wunderschönen und ruhigen Umgebung. Sie haben uns zudem den Transfer nach Kandy zu einem sehr fairen Preis organisiert. Besonders schön war es, nachts zu den Geräuschen des Dschungels einzuschlafen – ein echtes Highlight. Auch das Frühstück am nächsten Morgen war sehr lecker.

• Catalina (10/5): Fantastic place, run by a wonderful familiar - Everything, the room and toilette were just perfect, location as well, far away from the chaos of the city, but above all, the family that runs the hotel were just fantastic. I was having problems with my belly and the mother of the owner prepared me her "secret" medicine and it worked just fine. Thank you for such a great stay. Nothing to say.

• Laura (10/5): Wunderschönes Homestay mit toller Gastfamilie! - Oshan und seine Familie sind unglaublich gastfreundlich und hilfsbereit! Wir wurden sehr herzlich begrüßt und fühlten uns absolut wohl in ihrem Homestay. Das Zimmer ist sehr schön und komfortabel - der Balkon mit Blick ins Grüne ist ebenfalls ein Highlight! Das Frühstück war fantastisch! Wir sind den Pekoe Trail gelaufen und Oshan hat uns viele Tipps gegeben und uns den Transport des Gepäcks organisiert. Das Homestay ist eine absolute Herzensempfehlung und wir kommen jederzeit sehr gerne wieder!

• Joachim (10/5): Ruheoase etwas außerhalb des Zentrums - Das war wohl die gastfreundlichste und netteste Familie, welche uns bisher in Sri Lanka beherbert hat! Oshan war immer gut drauf und hat uns alle Wünsche (Tuc Tuc, Tanzshow u. Weitertransport) zu sehr fairen Preisen erfüllt. Die Ruhelage mit der Aussicht von der Terrasse ins Grüne kann kaum übertroffen werden. Eine Oase auf einem Hügel außerhalb des stickigen, verkehrsintensiven Zentrums von Kandy. Oshan vermittelt einen ebenfalls netten Tuc-Tuc -Fahrer, der einen jederzeit um 500 Rp. in 10 Min. Ins Zentrum fährt und auch dort wieder abholt! Frühstück und Dinner von der Mama schmeckt auch vorzüglich! Danke Oshan u. Familie für den schönen Aufenthalt

Sie haben uns viele Tipps geben können für Restaurants und Sehenswürdigkeiten. Auch bei der Weiterreise waren sie uns behilflich. Frühstück war sehr lecker und das Zimmer sehr schön!

• Darko (10/5): Perfect! - Everything was perfect, the apartment was spotless, the owners were so friendly, we had a lovely conversation, they have found us a tuktuk driver for the day that took us everywhere we wanted to go and shown us every place to see in Kandy. The breakfast was amazing also! If we could give 11/10 we absolutely would! /

• Wendy (10/5): Home from home... - Back again for the second year running. That says it all. A lovely 😍 family (Oshan and his wife and son, with mum and dad) and outstanding hosts. Friendly and knowledgeable advice on how best to spend your time in Kandy (you need two days). Arranged our pickup from Sigiriya and then our onward taxi to Nuwara Eliya. Also sorted us a tuk-tuk to get us into town for the cultural show and to the botanical Gardens the following day. Delicious and plentiful breakfast. Highly recommend. In brief nothing. The hillside position of this homestay means it can be windy, but don't let that put you off. Also tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be an added bonus, and give mum some time off! ❤️
• Erik (10/5): Wunderbare Unterkunft in Kandy - gerne wieder! - Oshan und seine Familie haben uns herzlich empfangen und uns nicht nur tolle Tipps für unseren Aufenthalt in Kandy gegeben sondern diese auch organisiert. Wir haben jeden Morgen ein leckeres und abwechslungsreiches Frühstück bekommen. Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber, man hatte im Zimmer ausreichend Platz und der Blick vom Balkon war sehr schön. Sie liegt minimal außerhalb auf einem Berg, mit dem Tuktuk ist man aber innerhalb von wenigen Minuten im Zentrum von Kandy. Dafür hört man den in Kandy lauten Straßenverkehr nicht. Wir können diese Unterkunft wärmstens empfehlen.

Ein wunderschöner Balkon hat zum Verweilen eingeladen. Die gesamte Familie ist wahnsinnig nett und gibt einem gute Tipps für die Umgebung! Das Frühstück war definitiv das Beste dass wir in unserem 3 Wochen Sri Lanka bekommen haben. Man fühlt sich von der ersten Minute an willkommen und wohl! Vielen Dank für den tollen Aufenthalt und die neuen Gespräche! Absolut nichts!

• Irati (10/5): Excelente - Solo pasamos una noche aquí, pero desde el primer momento nos sentimos muy bien acogidos por esta familia tan simpática. Fueron muy amables y siempre dispuestos a ayudarnos con el transporte, recomendaciones de restaurantes y la organización de visitas y actividades. El desayuno que nos prepararon fue excelente y también ofrecen servicio de lavandería, lo cual es muy cómodo. La casa es preciosa, en un entorno tranquilo, con una habitación amplia y un baño elegante. Pero lo mejor de todo fue el gran balcón con vistas a la naturaleza: despertarse con el canto de los pajarillos fue simplemente mágico. Aunque la estancia fue corta, nos hicieron sentir como en casa. ¡Muy recomendable!

The rooms are spacious, clean, and equipped with everything you need to feel comfortable. But the real highlight was Oshan and his family: incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. They made us feel at home from the very beginning. Another big plus is the food: both breakfast and dinner were delicious, freshly prepared with care and high-quality ingredients. • Isabel (10/5): Exceptional - We had a very nice stay at e-stay in Kandy. The host family was more than friendly and it felt like home to us very soon and easily. Our room was big, clean and had a great view from the nice balkony. We had a very good breakfast. We wished that we could stay for another night. The e-stay is not in the city center but it is only a 10 minute Tuktuk ride and wasn't a problem for us. It was a quiet and peaceful place. Be careful in the shower, the floor can be very slippery ;)

The location is on the hill, so it generally took longer and more expensive to get a taxi / tuk tuk. However, it wasn't a great inconvenience.

Oshan was a great host and he and his family were so welcoming and friendly and spoke great English. Great traditional breakfast too. Would definitely stay again
• Kyriakou (10/5): Exceptional - A very peaceful location which is a blessing which is not in the very busy centre. 10 minute tuk tuk ride from Kandy, really is not a problem. Beautiful room overlooking trees and if you are lucky you will see the odd monkey. Morning sounds you hear are the birds so beautiful. Breakfast first class just like a Hotel. Oshan and his beautiful family are such wonderful people, so friendly nothing is too much trouble for them. You can actually walk slowly down the hill into Kandy with the beautiful views at the side of the road if you wanted to. There is nothing to dislike about this accommodation! First Class.
• Geoffrey (10/5): This is the perfect home stay with a lovely family. - Oshan and his family made me feel welcome even before arrived. Oshan arranged for me to be picked up from the train station and offered dinner after I arrived. The guesthouse is located in the peaceful hills above Kandy and Oshan’s father is a very keen advocate for the surrounding environment. A highlight for me was hiking the first stage of the Pekoe Trail with him. All of the Sri Lankan dishes prepared by Oshan’s mother were delicious which made eating at the guesthouse a great option. Oshan is keen to assist with his superb local knowledge, arranging tours and helping to organise travel from Kandy. This type of assistance makes travelling in Sri Lanka so much easier. The room I stayed in had a great balcony overlooking forest which was a lovely place to sit and relax. Nothing

• Michael (10/5): Lovely stay in Hanthana, Kandy. - Oshan and his lovely family were extremely welcoming, warm and friendly. They offered assistance and advice about things to see and do in Kandy, and sourced tuk tuk drivers whenever we needed one. The room was extremely clean and tidy and well appointed. We especially loved the balcony and being able to see across the tree tops and observe the colourful birds in the trees. The breakfasts were delicious with a wide range of Sri Lankan food like roti, curried vegetables, hoppers with eggs, range of juices etc, yum yum yum ! We ate in the family dining room and chatted with his family who were so friendly. It made us feel very valued as guests. We would definitely come again 😁. We enjoyed the quietness and being away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Some tuk tuk drivers had a little trouble finding the house...we had to direct them so advise guests to take a mental note of the location and local signage to help. Not a big issue as they always got there !
• Wendy (10/5): A home from home in Kandy - Cannot praise this place highly enough. Modern clean and comfortable en suite room in a family home. The room feels separate from the home so you don't feel you're intruding & have privacy. Oshan and his family are warm, welcoming and easy going. They are full of knowledge and advice to make the most of your visit. The home is located high on a hillside over Kandy a short tuk tuk ride from the bustle of the city. We really struggled to find any negatives. All we can say was the 2 nights we were there were very windy making it difficult to enjoy the private balcony and quite noisy through the night. A very small negative in a lovely stay.

Oshan and his family are exceptionally welcoming and friendly hosts. We appreciated that they took the time to visit with us. We felt at home during our stay. Oshan arranged a driver to take us to our next destination. The breakfasts were excellent as was the dinner we ate on site. Kandy is a very hectic city so staying a short distance outside the centre was a gift. Oshan arranged tuk tuk rides into town and back, so the location was perfect. After staying for four nights ( we enjoyed the place so much we extended our stay) we felt like we were saying goodbye to new friends when we left. We hope to return. Nothing.

The room was simple but nice, and had a fabulous balcony with a great nature view. They made us a very tasty dinner which they let us enjoy in the balcony. Would definitely recommend you stay here. It’s a bit out of Kandy on a hill, so only accessible by car or tuk tuk.

They recommended a tuktuk driver who we used him most of the time and he drove us to Kandy. Ask for him. He is reliable. • Robert (10/5): Our stay was very pleasant and we would return if in Kandy again. - We enjoyed meeting the lovely family. The breakfast was excellent, healthy and tasty. The room was spacious and comfortable. It would have been good to have somewhere to hang our clothes and also a hand towel and bath mat. A kettle with tea/coffee making facilities would be an added bonus.

Oshan and his family went out of their way to make us welcome and help us with our planning, including booking taxis for our onward travel and advising us about where to visit in Kandy. They were kind enough to do our laundry as well, which was becoming an issue after a week of backpacking in Sri Lanka. By the end of our four night stay, we were really sorry to leave! The room we stayed in was large, extremely clean, and very comfortable. We enjoyed very tasty and varied breakfasts, and Oshan’s family even prepared hoppers especially for me on a second occasion as I had enjoyed them so much the first time round. Nothing - it was wonderful!

Nothing I didn’t like but one thing to note is it’s not in central Kandy, it’s a 10 min drive but they provide a cheap Tuk tuk service and it’s actually nice being out of the hustle and bustle in the mountains

• Deborah (10/5): Wonderful stay - We had a wonderful stay at this homestay in Sri Lanka. The room was clean, quiet, and very comfortable, providing everything we needed for a relaxing visit. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, going out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. One of the highlights was waking up to the peaceful sounds of birds in the jungle—it was such a lovely way to start the day. The location is a little outside the city, but that’s exactly what made it so special. The tranquil surroundings allowed us to fully unwind while still being close enough to explore when we wanted to. I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay.

• Roni (10/5): Best hospitality you’ll ever get! - What a family! Amazing Oshan and his amazing family treated us like royalty. From the moment we walked in we felt at home with lots of smiles, welcoming drinks and biscuits and Oshan information about everything you need. The room was big clean with a big balcony overlooking the green trees, the most comfortable bed I had is Sri Lanka, they even provided me with a thick duvet which was so cozy as it was cold at night. The bathroom modern big clean hot water, amazing shower heads. The breakfast made with full of love by Oshan mother, every day she made something different so we could try Sri Lankan food, and western as well. Golden hands! Location - in the mountains 10 minutes tuktuk ride into Kandy town, the road is winding and dark at night but not scary. A word about Kandy - it’s a big city, it’s hectic with lots of traffic and not alot to do, that’s why this location is perfect because believe me you don’t want to stay in town - really not nice there.. Oshan gave us perfect recommendations for food and attractions. Thanks again Oshan and dear family for everything - your hospitality is above and beyond. We will be back for sure!! That we didn’t have more time to spend with this amazing family
• Volha (10/5): Exceptional - Very beautiful and quiet location among nature, it takes about 10 minutes to get there from the center by tuk-tuk. Oshan, the owner, and his family are very hospitable and kind people. They serve tasty traditional srilankan breakfast, and it's also possible to order homemade lunch or dinner. Oshan also helped us to find a taxi to Ella. It was a short but enjoyable time there and we would love to stay longer.

Although i arrived earlier than my check in time they allowed me to use my room for which i was so grateful. Staff were so informative and helpful they assisted me in finding a tuk tuk for a full day tour which was great. The location was great for seeing so many sights. • Narelle (9/5): Warm, welcoming home stay with amazing hosts - Oshan and his family are outstanding hosts at this property and they make all the difference. They are warm, welcoming, friendly and answer any of your questions. They are very helpful and Oshan always welcomes you back on the afternoon with a cup of tea and biscuits. Our room was very comfortable, with A/C and fan and a lovely balcony looking out to the trees and adjoining jungle. We had dinner there 2 nights and Oshan’s mother cooks a fantastic meal for under US$7. The breakfasts are included and so amazing- egg hoppers, or omelette or fried egg or pancakes with fresh fruit, juice, toast and tea.- very delicious. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The only drawback is it is 3.9km from the Kandy city centre, so a tuk tuk ride is always needed to go anywhere. Oshan rings the driver and it is all very easy and costs 500LKR each way. The benefit of the location is it is very peaceful and there are a lot of birds and animals in the trees.

• Ryuu (10/5): Tranquil Hilltop Retreat with Exceptional Hospitality - I loved the cleanliness and the quaint atmosphere. E stay is situated on top of a hill in Hanthana away from the bustle and the congestion of the kandy city. The host and his family were very sweet, absolutely prepared to cater to your every need. They even found us a wonderful ride as we went to Pekoe Trail stage 1, who came and picked us up from Galaha and dropped us by the train station. From food perspective, breakfast was arranged at 5.30AM on request and it was very filling, got an egg hopper, 2 plain hoppers, 2 piece of toast, fruit, orange juice, tea and water which was all neatly laid out on the breakfast table. For dinner we brought in a few instant noodles packets thinking we could make it in the room but they kindly offered to cook it for us and served it with plates and water which was such a sweet thing to do under no extra charge. Absolutely loved the experience and will definitely be back!

They organized not only transportation but also a full-day tour, recommended great places to spend time and dine (the recommendations were excellent). The jungle view from the window was incredible; we loved spending time on the balcony listening to the sounds of the jungle. Highly recommend this place. It's quiet and peaceful, away from the city's hustle and bustle. P.S. They also arranged a trip to Nuwara Eliya for us at a great price with a tour. + very good internet 👍

Location a bit out of Kandy, but we saw that as a bonus being away from the hustle am bustle. 8 mins tuk tuk ride and you're in city centre. Really nice comfortable room and balcony. Highly recommend e sysy Can't think of anything really...maybe the photos of property were a little different from the reality,, but nothing to complain about really.

• Zhansaya (9/5): Superb - It is located almost in the middle of the jungle, so you hide from city noise in this place. Host was friendly and gave advice on must visit places in Sri Lanka.
• Noa (9/5): Superb - Oshan and his family are the nicest hosts, they were so welcoming and helped us book tours and transportation. The room was very clean and the view from the balcony is amazing. Location can be a bit tricky, it was sometimes hard to get a tuktuk back since it's up in the hills, but it's worth the clean air and the quiet environment.

The location is a short drive from town but Oshan was great at organising tuk tuks. The room was clean and spacious with a lovely bathroom. Delicious breakfast. Nothing!

I messaged Oshan ahead of our stay and he helped coordinate a great itinerary, including a city tour, hike near knuckles conservation area and a trip to Pidurangala Rock and Dambulla temple. As others have said, the house is a tuktuk ride from central Kandy, but once you arrive you'll realise why that's a very good thing! A return trip was 1,000rps (c. £2.50) and we managed to have the same great driver each day - thanks Siril! Breakfast was delicious with a shout out to the coconut roti and the hoppers were the best we've had and inspired me to buy a hopper pan before returning to the UK to try and recreate them! Nothing at all. Tip for anyone doing a city tour, avoid the Spice Gardens in Kandy and instead go to the National one just south of Matale if you are interested in that kind of thing and heading north to Dambulla/Sigirya
