Guest Reviews
- jeffdL8042YX (8/5): A glimpse of history - The design is old but well-maintained. The
ambiance and lighting are awesome, and I really liked the floors. Both the front desk
staff, housekeeping and the guards were accommodating, making us feel very welcome. The room also had a nice flooring, and the numerous hanging chandeliers were a big plus. Neither the hotel nor the swimming pool felt crowded.
Although the pool is small, it's quite nice and offers a view of Manila Bay and the ships.
However, we have a few observations that need to be addressed. First, I saw a large black rat in the buffet area, which was very alarming. I informed the kitchen personnel but she simply said they couldn't control it. Second, the front door was difficult to open and we were only provided with one key card. There were no shavers and shaving cream on the first day. My room lacked a refrigerator and had a broken cabinet door. The telephone was also faulty, interrupting my calls to housekeeping. Finally, our room did not have a good view. Despite these issues, it is generally still a good hotel to book.
- kenichin2026 (10/5): Best Hotel in Manila - Stayed here for 2 nights had i had a great stay at Rizal park hotel. Front desk receptionists are very accommodating and warm especially kurt and rushdee. Housekeeping also did a great job at cleaning my room. I will come back to stay here again
- jsJ2409BR (2/5): No TV or internet. - No internet or TV for most of my stay. Staff very friendly but not capable of assisting. Management clearly missing. Only 1 elevator works.
- ProCritix (2/5): Horrible Experience - Terrible hotel. Poorly managed. Water was dripping from the ceiling in many places. It may have been a nice property in the 1970s, but is totally run down now due to lack of maintenance and care. Staff are oblivious to the situation. See my photos, which speak for themselves.
The restaurant does not belong to the hotel and you have to pay your bill separately there, can't charge to your room. The hotel has no bar or lounge where one could have a drink.
I had to check out two nights early due to a political rally that resulted in road closures in the area, and I would have been stuck at the hotel. Despite promises to refund the unused nights, after more than three months I have not received the refund. The hotel remains unresponsive. Stay away from this property.
- 691rjv (10/5): Lucky to have booked my stay here - Old World Charm located in the heart of the country. Clean, orderly, well apppinted rooms. Quiet. Far from the noise of the boulevard. Food is great.
- juliusb894 (2/5): Extremely Poor Customer Service – Impossible to Reach Front Desk - I called this hotel multiple times to cancel my son’s reservation, but no one answered the phone, which is very disappointing, especially for guests calling from another country.
When I finally reached a clerk, I explained that my son, who is in the United States Navy, had a reservation from January 26–30, 2026. His ship was unexpectedly diverted to the Persian Gulf due to the Middle East crisis, so he asked me to contact the hotel on his behalf to cancel, reschedule, or request a refund, as he couldn’t do it while deployed at sea.
The clerk directed me to Agoda.com, where the booking was made. Agoda then instructed me to contact the hotel directly for a refund or reschedule. I called again, only to encounter the same issue—no one answered the front desk.
This has been extremely frustrating. I hope the hotel improves its responsiveness, especially for guests with urgent or special circumstances.
- grenv2024 (8/5): Great stay - My wife and I have stayed here before. We love the location and the value for money was worth it. The Housekeepers were lovely, there was a particular gentleman who went out of his way to help us get a fridge and a safe, i feel bad because asked his name and I've forgotten it.The Front and gate securities were really helpful and friendly. Front desk were amazing, specially John. The Chinese Restaurants staff weren't as friendly though. The other restaurant staff opposite that though were actually amazing specially a boy I was speaking to.The gym and pool staff upstairs were exceptional. Rizal Park Hotel has a historical vibe. We really love the room and the ambiance. All in all We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to our family and friends.
- GlennN961 (10/5): Manila’s Hidden Charm 😊 - We had our wedding reception, preparations and pre-wedding video shoot here. All was streamlined and well-coordinated. The staff members especially with the banquet section have been very accommodating and sensitive of our vision and requests. Thank you for such a great experience! Kudos to Ms Adel and Ms Lorelie Joy for being hands-on always. 😊
- Ruth111111111 (2/5): Misleading about facilites and Beware of the breakfast buffet. - Pool was not free for the whole stay even though lead to believe it would be.
Breakfast buffet was terrible and the most expensive in all the places we stayed.
Suspicious looking white stuff and dried edges on what I think was cold meat to replace bacon(no bacon in a place where Pork is served everywhere), burnt omelette, dried brown slices of apple was the only fruit offered in a country known for its variety and great taste of fruits, no juice, bad coffee with powered milk and no other option to this, weird dry canapes? instead of ingredient options to have with eggs, condiments lacking and traditional Philippine options didn't look great. Thin walls, could hear a concert for 2 whole days form park nearby, we had to leave the hotel or have earphones in to get some peace. Really disappointing experience.
- Bouke Daniëlle (7/5): Genoten - De locatie is top. Bier bijvoorbeeld.
- DG ERP (6/5): -
- TheButler15 (2/5): Unfortunate experience - First of all, the 1 star I gave is only for the hotel staff. They were polite, accommodating, and welcoming. That’s it.
My family and I booked a 2-night stay to celebrate New Year’s, mainly because the hotel is near Luneta and we expected to watch the fireworks. Upon arrival, the staff welcomed us well, which gave us a good first impression.
However, things went downhill once we headed to our room. The elevators were not working, so we were forced to use the fire exit stairs while carrying our luggage and with a child with us. We had no choice since we were already there.
The room itself was actually nice spacious and clean. What we liked most was the balcony with a mini garden facing Luneta, which made our New Year’s celebration enjoyable, especially during the fireworks.
Unfortunately, on New Year’s Day, we experienced another major disappointment. Around 9:00 AM, the room started to feel very hot, and we later found out that the air conditioning was turned off. Seriously? On top of that, we planned to go swimming, only to find out that the pool was closed.
So to sum it up:
No air conditioning
No pool
Broken elevators
There was simply nothing left for us to enjoy. Because of this, we decided to cancel our second night and check out early.
It’s really unfortunate because this could have been a 5-star experience if we hadn’t gone through all these issues.
- Sabate Anton (5/5): Centrico pero no corresponde a 5 eatrellas - Centrico . Trato personal Instalqciones antiguas. Piscina no operativa. Desayuno no adecuado a 5 estrellas
- Preeti (1/5): Friendly staff but inefficient service - Beautiful architecture and the reception staff was friendly. They agreed to a late checkout as our flight was late night. Terrible housekeeping, the aircon in the room didn’t work and the temperature was set to 30 degrees and we had to call the maintenance person to fix it at 2.30 am, only got fixed after 3 am in the night. The restaurant in the hotel is absolutely terrible service, the staff didn’t know basic things on the menu, kept coming back and saying things were not available. They gave us the bill before we were half way finished with our meal. Although the restaurant staff was friendly but wasn’t able to help with some basic information. Additionally, the pool was not functioning during our visit which was bit disappointing
Outside the hotel they had some strikes going on, so it was impossible to get cabs to the property. Consider long waiting times.
- Ali701 (7/5): -
- Baylon (5/5): The front desk staff during our check out is not properly train in communication costumer concern - the room is clean no ref
- Natalie (10/5): -
- Agnela (1/5): - The front facade is the only thing that is beautiful... the rest is bad... First the hotel is OLD and shanty and their food is as old as the hotel... its cold, dry amd definitely not palatable!!! They don't charge cheap so it is very depressing to have that experience for that price. totally dont trust the photos!!! If you're expecting a hot shower you'll be disappointed.. we let the front desk know and promised to have it resolved in 15 mins and hours after tried calling them again promised to change our rooms where theres hot water running but never happened. There's more to say but i leave it at that.
- Natale Mailey (10/5): Great Hotel, Stunning Building, Amazing Staff - Stunning Hotel, reall old colonial vibe and lovely clean rooms with amazing shower. The surrounding area is a little far from the centre of Manila, so not great for walking to the shops, the hotel will arrange a Grab for you, however 😀
- Christian (6/5): -
- Cheryl (7/5): Location was great for seeing Rizal Park. - The history was incredible. The kitchen was filthy and we were not served. The floor in front of the kitchen was so greasy that it was dangerously slippery. Then during breakfast they were painting the walls around the food.
- aida (4/5): (not so happy) New Year's Eve staycation - 1. the staff were all very courteous, accommodating and very responsive to all our complaints.
2. parking was very spacious
3. nice and cozy lobby, hallways and interior design of the hotel was a breather. 1. no cable tv during our stay and for a new year's eve staycation, if the hotel has no activity to offer like fireworks display or treat for their clients, at least a working cable tv is essential.
2. unfortunately, the elevator going to the swimming pool viewdeck was under maintenance, we have to take the 3-storey stairs to watch the fireworks over the metro.
3. no personal ref in the room
4. buffet breakfast has limited choices
5. towels need replacement
- Joyce (7/5): Nice ambience at lobby, room is quite run down, bad location, not value for money - Ambience and vibes of the lobby Location. There are many events held at the premise and we got caught in road closure and I was late for my work appointment.

- Aleksandar (1/5): One of the worst hotels in Manila - Nothing Extremely poor hotel and very bad service provided. Dirty areas, very bad smell everywhere. The hotel looks very old and the breakfast was awful. We even saw a few cockroaches in the bathroom, one even died in the room!
- SUKUMARAN (8/5): - good
- Janeen (6/5): Maybe a heated pool would be nice. - The building itself was aesthetically beautiful since it has a history. Clean. Comfortable and accessible to nearby attractions. Plus, the view from the pool, the sunset was very nice. Pool is not heated. My daughter and cousin got sick bec of too much cold water. Telephone is ringing but no one is answering and it took time to respond to our request, we had to go down the lobby to personally ask for our needs. My mom also got locked inside th bathroom since the knob is broken, and it took like 30mins before someone went up to assist us. I also understand that weekend is packed but I asked for late check out since its my daughter’s birthday but the lady in the front desk didn’t allow us to extend just for an hour. Too bad we were not able to go to ocean park which is the main reason of our stay since water in the pool is too cold we travelled from San Pedro, we were tired, but my daughter was very excited to jump in the pool. Sadly, she got sick bec of it.
- Kaplan (3/5): Not good - Not much… Out of three elevators only one was working
The whole place seems to be fouling apart Very limited breakfast
You get only one towel no heard towel
- Michael (5/5): -
- Guest (8/5): Feels like home. - I like the ambiance because it’s an old structure that was previously renovated. Feels like home although during my stay i already noticed a lot of areas that need to be maintained. An entertainment area like a casino or bar should have been reopened. The building near the American embassy has to be restored and maintained properly. I just had one encounter with a girl staff at the reception who booked me to a musty old room at the back even though i purchased the room accommodation 3 months prior to my stay. But i was re assigned by another male staff to my dedicated and reserved room during my complaint.
- Thomas (7/5): -
- Paz (9/5): Elegant hotel - Nice, clean, friendly staff Breakfast not enough selection of food. Overpriced!
- DENNIS (10/5): Great - All None
- T (5/5): -
- Leonie (6/5): A nice-looking hotel with several comfort and service issues — overall average and not somewhere I would book again. - The hotel itself is nice, well presented, and visually appealing. The rooms were clean and the property has a pleasant overall look. From a tourist perspective, the location isn’t great (although this isn’t the hotel’s fault). The hotel appeared to be short-staffed, and there was a strong damp smell in the ground-floor lift area. The rooms were extremely cold and difficult to regulate, even with the air conditioning turned down or switched off. The shower water temperature was only just warm, and the room service and food quality were disappointing. At check-out, a room inspection was required, but we weren’t informed when it had been completed. This left us waiting while our taxi was already outside, and we had to go back and ask, which was inconvenient.
Nema toga
- Francesco (2/5): - Colazione pessima
Struttura vecchia decadente
Anche no
- Carlos (8/5): Old historical and spectacular hotel. Must have been prime in its day. - The reception and front area staff were great, always made us feel welcome. The hot water availability in the shower was super. No mini electric hot water heater that malfunctions every 2 minutes. The location was nice as it was easy to get to from just about anywhere in Manilla. The breakfast was not very good, I got egg shells in the scrambled eggs twice. No chiller / fridge in the room.
- Baccay (3/5): DISAPPOINTING!! Dont carry the name of Jose Rizal it’s embarrassing!! - The new building area (room is Ok), amenities Ok, pool n sauna Ok.
Old or vintage feel is Ok Junior suite view is the concrete pavement. Embarrassing. Holes on the ceiling because of water dripping.
Breakfast venue not good reception, ambiance not good, food not good, servers/cooks for omelette are kids - maybe OJT.
- Karthiga (6/5): - Some of the staff were great in looking after our stay. I really appreciate their sincerity. There was a protest happening on the day of our arrival near the hotel. We couldn't be dropped off any where near the hotel. We had to drag our luggages after a long flight to the hotel for about 30 minutes. I do think the hotel should have communicated with us about this. Also when we informed, the reception didn't take this into account.
- Marvin Salvador (6/5): -
- Guest (4/5): Hotels old & very tired - Nice and quiet location The hotel is dated and falling apart
- mizon (5/5): Would think twice - Staff were very pleasant and the reception area was done up very nicely with a christmas tree that looked stunning. Fairy lights outside the building looked awesome at nighy. Building and rooms are very old and tired. There is a bad smell of dampness in many places throughout the motel, with water ingress and mould evident in several places and water buckets placed on the floor collecting drips from the ceiling. Many floor tiles were loose in our room and also throughout the motels walkways. In the attached restauarants there was often more staff than patrons and the service was usually reactive rather than proactive. The included breakfast buffett at the cafe was very limited and not many options for those not Philippino.
- Ashara (8/5): Good location if you are visiting Intramuros - The swimming pool in the rooftop terrass is lovely, and the location in front of Rizal park and a 15 minute walk to the Intramuros (old town in a Spanish style). The SM shopping mall is also close (best with a taxi or Grab or tuk tuk). The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The hallways could use a coat of fresh paint, but its good value for money. The breakfast was limited and the eggs are deep-fried in too much oil- better try the breakfast noodle soup.
- kylejurecki (2/5): Not a good stay, urgent refurb needed! - Recently visited this hotel for a 1 night stay, and needless to say I was disappointed with this stay.
When first arriving at the hotel, the outside looks good, could do with a paint however a very nice building! However, once you get inside, there is a pungent damp smell throughout the hotel. This is clearly caused by frequent damp patches on the roof which is surround with black mould. You could even see wet drips on the floor under these! The wallpaper is also falling off the walls. I have heard it’s been like this since last year so clearly no effort to fix these issues! Desperately needs refurbished as the buildings currently a waste!
The halls which were very long I could only describe as creepy, the old decoration and dullness looked out of a horror film.
Breakfast, I have to say was disappointed with this as well, food just wasn’t great.
Electrical issues also throughout the hotel, no safes are working and also issues with air-conditioning. 1 of the 2 lifts also not working.
Our balcony door locked, however, didn’t seem to lock well. This had shared access to a garden with other rooms which could easily be accessed by them so it didn’t feel overly safe.
On a positive, the staff looked extremely smart in suits, and were also fairly helpful and welcoming.
So overall, not a great visit here, definitely will be better options in Manila so would avoid here until refurbishments take place.
- shirlic2025 (2/5): Awful hotel - Where do I start by saying thankfully only a 1 night stop over stay.
Opted for this hotel as looked different and had a lovely old fashioned vibe.
Hotel roofs leaking everywhere you go, even had a drip from ceiling land in my breakfast plate so needless to say didn't eat it. Wallpaper falling off walls, carpets thread bear
Lifts broken
Foosty/damp smell throughout
Pool area no sunbeds to relax only broken chairs
1 toilet roll , 2 small towels, 1 small shampoo and conditioner
Dated rooms, no fridge, midnight flight and not allowed to keep room on, safe not working, patio doors don't lock
Breakfast awful, no where to buy even a juice, no bar
Rooms were noisy from road and moving around hotel
Please look elsewhere so not book this hotel will spoil your holiday.
- John (3/5): Disappointing stay due to maintenance issues in classic historical building - I am sorry to give this fine old building a poor review, but the former Army and Navy Club needs some repair. There were buckets collecting water dripping from the ceiling in the corridors! I know the management is tackling this problem.
The staff ( with the notable exception of trainee, Ryan) are not as well turned out or enthusiastic as some of their counterparts in other local hotels.
The breakfast buffet is poor. Very little fruit available and what there was, looked tired. Mainly caters, understandably, for local tastes. The location is fine for visitors wanting to visit Old Manila or who have business in this area. Otherwise, stay in Makati.
Staff tried their best.Poor value for money.
- Rose (8/5): - Tasty breakfast. Courteous staff. Amazing sunset from our room with a sea view. Great to have a pool and gym and stay in a beautiful historic building. The Internet was down for part of our stay.
- Tristan (6/5): Fine, not great. - Great location, friendly staff. It was pretty run down and old building , it needs a lot of maintenance. There was a kinda damp smell throughout the hallways and a couple walkways. Staff were friendly albeit abit slow.
- Navares (9/5): Feeling truly satisfied and grateful! - Since 2023, I have been visiting Manila annually to attend a convention, which has allowed me to stay at various nearby hotels, including some of the more upscale options. I chose Rizal Park Hotel because of its proximity to M Hotel, where the convention is held.
Upon arriving at the hotel entrance, I was greeted by exceptionally courteous staff. Everyone welcomed me with a warm smile. The Concierge team was very approachable, and the check-in process was swift. They even offered to bring the receipt upstairs to save me from waiting long at the ground floor, which I found very thoughtful.
The room was clean and cozy, and I really appreciated the interior design.
On the second day of my stay, my colleague transferred from another hotel to Rizal Park Hotel. Upon his arrival, three staff members immediately assisted him. That sense of attentiveness and teamwork creates a truly positive feeling.
What truly stood out to me was how peaceful and quiet the place was, giving me the restful, undisturbed sleep I needed every night. It made my stay all the more comfortable and refreshing. None

- Anne (2/5): Never again will never recommend - Not much It was old and not maintained had a horrible smell about it wet mould paint pealing and noise of a drill for days and still after we complained left the accommodation with a week payed up no questions from anyone as to why we left early no refund mentioned
- Jack (7/5): A bit of a mixed stay, inside room was fabulous, but outside room not so good. - Beautiful heritage building, comfortable large bed, large bathroom with huge shower and good water pressure. Gym was very new and modern, pool area was great. Lovely staff. Overall a decent stay, they are doing renovations so it will be a great place to stay once all is complete. No wifi, which they said was unfortunately broken. Smell of mould throughout hallways and common areas, gym was very hot, terrible buffet breakfast

- Laura (6/5): Pretty on first appearance but plenty of restoration still required - Rizal Park Hotel had some good features. 1) Location: We chose this hotel because it was within reasonable walking distance of most tourist attractions in Manila, including: Rizal Park, Intramuros, Manila Ocean Park, National Museums of Natural History, Anthorpology and Fine Arts. This allowed us to explore the area by foot and at our own pace without getting stuck in traffic. Note however, that on one occasion, we ventured by car to the Uptown Mall and it took 2.5 hours in rush hour (4:00pm-6:30pm). Whereas normally it would take 45 minutes. 2) Building: The architecture of the Hotel looked impressive. While the foyer was pretty incredible, the rest of the building was in a state of repair and restoration. In hindsight, we would have perhaps just visited the building and stayed elsewhere (noting the below areas for improvement). 3) Comfiness: The beds were very comfy and the bed linen was really soft. We had some good nights' sleep. 4) Staff and Availability: All staff were very welcoming and friendly, including the doormen, housekeeping, gym receptionists and guards. The Housekeeping let us borrow a converter to use for our electronics, though didn't clean our room the first day of our arrival so we recommend putting your door sign out to help facilitate. The Reception was open 24/7 so we could check-in late with no isues. 5) Wifi: the free internet was very good and we didn't have any issues with connectivity. 6) Pool and Gym: The rooftop pool and gym were lovely and clean. There weren't many people at the hotel using the facilities so on most days, we had the areas to ourselves. Pool towels were available upon request. 7) Nearby restaurants: There are a good variety of food outlets. We particularly enjoyed the seafood at Harbour View on the pier, the Syrian restaurant on Roxas Blvd and the Shawarma Snack Center. Rizal Park Hotel has several areas for improvement: 1) Water Leaks: The Hotel was constantly leaking with water in the hallways, scattered with buckets and caution signs. There was black mould on the roof and one lift/ escalators out of access. Most areas smelt of moisture and mildew. We wouldn't want to be staying there for a long time, particularly with breathing/ health issues. There were no leaks in the room but each day we were dodging the water drips going in and out. 2) Breakfast: The food selection was not good and most items were cold or not fresh. The fruit selection was minimal and there weren't many breakfast items for westerners. The milk was also not appealing. After the first breakfast, we decided to go hunting for breakfast elsewhere. We can recommend Advocafe which sources local coffee and uses Milk Lab milk, in addition to Starbucks for safe food and drinks. 3) The room's facilities: While there was a TV, there were no channels or ability to connect to Netflix. The safe was locked so we couldn't store anything in there. There was no bar fridge. 4) No spa: the hotel used to have a masseuse but we were advised she was away. Thankfully, there was a great professional massage parlour not far: Thai Royale Spa on UN Avenue. 5) Noise/Construction: We encountered daily banging and noise from upstairs, with some construction starting at 8:45am. This was not great for those travelling to the Philippines from afar and recovering from jetlag or fatigue. We appreciate that restoration needs to happen but guests should be advised of this before booking with reduced rates offered. 6) No Food/Drink at Pool: there were signs at the Pool noting that no outside food could be brought in. However, there was nowhere to order food or drink from the hotel so this could be improved. 7) The View: While it was nice to look out on the water, there was a tip area to the right and carparking below which detracted from the view.
- Nomad678859 (2/5): Bad service - We are very disappointed with our experience at Rizal Park Hotel. We booked six rooms in advance, but the service and accommodations were unacceptable. Some of the rooms had no air conditioning, while others were not even provided despite our confirmed booking. We were told that we would receive a refund, but until now, we haven’t received it.
What made the situation even worse was that we had PWDs and children with us, yet the staff did not provide proper assistance or consideration. This caused us great inconvenience and discomfort. We expected much better service, especially from a well-known hotel like this.
We booked 6 rooms prior.
Im so disappointed.
- 81czc (6/5): More misses than hits - At first glance, the hotel looks stately and grand. But if you look carefully, you’ll see the issues.
For example:
1. the carpet is tired and worn
2. Wallpaper is peeling in many places
3. The playground on level 4 has rubber tiles that are warped.
4. the hot water in the room shower isn’t warm
5. Even after we told reception that the water wasn’t warm, they said they would send an engineer to fix, no one came. And there was no follow up
6. The room safe doesn’t work
7. Bath towels are thin
8. Even by 5pm, the room hadn’t been made up though we had been out since 10am
9. Scotch tape at random places in the room, such as the air con controller.

- PEDROWINE (10/5): Oasis in Manila - Perfect stay. It felt like a fresh breath amidst the chaos of Manila. Yes, the hotel and the rooms are dated, but it is all compensated by professional warm staff. Excellet gym to work out. No complains. Everything great

- Mary Abigail (7/5): A heritage place that I've had a privilage staying at - I liked the ambience, however, upon going inside, there were a couple of hallways and areas that are ongoing construction. I wish they'll be able to fix it because the place has soooo much potential.
I LOVED the staff. Very accommodating and courteous 🙂 The dining hall floors were a bit sticky. Other than done, I understand that the place is under renovation.
- PESCADERO (8/5): -
- Renard (10/5): - Breakfast was great, but coffee was a little water down. Pool area is great and close to the gym.
