• auran001 (10/5): Best Japanese hotel! - From the moment we arrived it was 100% service. The valet parked our car and took our bags to our room without us having to say or do anything. The front office team were very helpful and spoke english very well. We were given a convenient traditional japanese room. We booked the couples private onsen which we enjoyed immensely both were clean and luxurious overlooking the river and nature. Our bedroom was massive! and the tatami floor was so comfortable it was the best sleep we had in japan. We were given complimentary champagne for our honeymoon dinner. The food was all traditional Japanese there were over 8 courses and breakfast was just as interesting. I was very nervous that the hotel might smell of cigarette but it did not! This was the perfect Japanese experience thank you for such wonderful service I would recommend this to everyone.

• R (8/5): - 虹の部屋に宿泊しました。エクスペディアには部屋のグレード書いてませんが、虹でした。タオルは浴場にもあるため好きなだけ使えます。洗面はベッド横にあり、大きな2連ベッセルボウル。トイレはタンク式のウォシュレット、小さな手洗器付き。部屋の外の廊下にもトイレがあるのは嬉しいです。部屋についてる浴室はかなり古めのUBです。あまり使いたくない感じ。無くてもいいかも。部屋に浴衣は大中小各2枚ずつ初めから置いてあります（2人で宿泊しました）。空気清浄機も置かれてます。ただ加湿器はないので非常にカラカラです。お茶は緑茶とほうじ茶がお茶っぱであります。2Lのペットボトルが冷蔵庫の中にあり、飲んでOK。部屋に少し段差があるので、バリアフリーじゃないとまずい高齢者にはNGだと思います。窓際に立つと川が見えます。エレベーターの待ち時間は許容レベル。 温泉は広いです。露天風呂からは川が見えます。お風呂に浸かっていると川は見えないですが、音は聞こえます。タオルが風呂場に入る所に置いてあるので助かります。 夕食、朝食共に美味しかったです。温かいものは温かく提供してもらえました。一品一品がそんなに大きく無く、揚げたての天ぷらを自分の腹具合をみておかわりをお願い出来るのか良かったです。ご飯とお味噌汁が出てくるのが遅かったのが少し気になりました。 送迎を加賀温泉駅へお願いしました。金沢からの電車の便に合わせて調整されてるわけではないので、特に帰りは1時間弱くらい駅の待合室で待つ必要があり、そこは残念でした。時刻表を30分変えて欲しいです。行きはピーク時は30分に1本迎えに来てくれるのが他の宿に比べて良いと思います。ただし事前予約制ですが、当日遅れそうで電話してお願いしたら空いてた為、時間をずらして頂きました。 金沢自体の観光客の年齢層からか分かりませんが、若い女性が多いです。20〜30代。若いカップル、若い女性グループ、若い男女グループ。関西の方の方も多そうでした。小学生低学年くらいのお子様は1人見ました。おばあちゃんおじいちゃんはあまり見ませんでした。外国人も見ませんでした。 総じて満足でした。有難うございました。

• MartinI630 (6/5): UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE STANDARDS - This Ryokan has a superb location , excellent rooms , great food and Sake , but ruined by stupid and rude staff . The Japanese Ryokan experience should be tranquil and stress free - that is what it is all about, and has been for centuries . Two issues - on check in, even as Japanese speakers , which we had made very clear , we were told in broken English , that between 4 to 6 pm outside the Ofuro Baths “free” beer and snacks would be provided - impression given at least more than one glass would be free . When I asked for a beer refill I was told bluntly , and in a very rude tone, just one word, “dekinai “ - not possible. If I had been told more politely, then no issue - but who is the Customer here? Then at dinner time , just half way through the meal, rice and soup suddenly appeared - this is a never no way without the Customer requesting initially , as this part of a Japanese meal always is served at the end, unless you are having a bento box meal. To be fair , the rice and soup were taken away and replaced later, but still poor service. To some readers maybe these are small points, but to long time gaijin Onsen visitors an unacceptable dilution of service - when the price remains pretty expensive. We will not be returning.

• taeeat (8/5): 川沿いの露天風呂 - 今回、結婚記念日のため温泉付きのお部屋にアップグレードいただいたのでとても広々した川沿いのお部屋でありがとうございました。あいにくの天気でも、快適に過ごせました。 金沢観光の後のため夜の到着で駐車場係が今ひとつ案内がわかりにくくよくなかったのと、食事が出てくるのが異様に遅くてさすがの主人も怒ってましたが。 湯上がりのビールサービスなどちょっとしたおもてなしが嬉しいです。よく泊まる共立リゾート系のよう。 その後伊豆吉祥亭に母と親子3世代で泊まりましたが同様のサービスがあり、同系列と知りました。こちらもまた本格的なエステサロンなどとてもよかった。 加賀に行くお友達には是非こちらをオススメします。

• Verified traveler (8/5): - 桜が満開の四月初めに泊まりました。渓谷添いの眺めは素晴らしく、流れの音にも安らぎが感じられました。すぐ近くのこうろぎ橋を渡っての早朝散歩も新緑の中快適でした。食事は個室でなく、程よく開放感のある落ち着いた場所で、特に渓谷を眺めながらの朝食は良かったです。露天風呂は、今年の大雪のため屋根が壊れ、補強してあるのが少々残念でした。周りにも館内にも派手な施設はなく、山の中の温泉の情緒が味わえて満足でした。

• Miracosta (10/5): Wonderful stay! - We stayed one night for Hokuriku hopping trip. There is a hotel shuttle sharing with the sister hotel Kissho Yamanaka and comes to Kaga Onsen station every hour. Bus schedule is on their web sites and you’ll need to reserve pick up ahead if time. Shuttle schedule said to take about 25min but it felt much faster. Room was not the nicest/newest, it was ok. But service was amazing and great views of gorge/river from the room. Public bathroom has beautiful outdoor bath which overlooking river. Property is walking distance to downtown “Yuge Kaito”. There’s a beautiful bran new spa at Kissho Yamanaka, hotel will provide free shutte indivually which was great. Spa is still new and menu can be difficult to understand but we managed to reserve a couple (called”pear”) massage room and it was very beautify. Location is only few ministers to Yuge Kaido, hiking trail is just behind the hotel, great location.
• sunbeamrn (8/5): Interesting Hotel build on a cliffs - I I drove from Fukui to Kagari on national road 364, the driving route to fun. I drove thru some road running along the side of the mountain and long tunnels. The view was spectacular. Love it! Coming on this route, Kisshotel is on the right of the car. For a distance you will hardly see any building. On the road , once you see building and school and recreation center on the right of the car, you will need to slow down, else you will miss the hotel. From the view in the car, the hotel is just a one story build just after a Y junction. The parking is offsite, there is no parking space in front of the hotel. Once inside the hotel, i felt very welcome. Its a very topical Japan Osen hotel. The hotel is build downward. All the rooms have a good view of the river running below the cliff. The room we had was a Japanese type Tatami Mat room. Its very huge in size and well appointed.Each room comes with it own attach bath tub. There are 2 indoor Osen pool and a outdoor pool. The Outdoor pool is very nicely design and on a chilly night, it very comfortable to enjoy the outdoor pool. We had a set dinner at one of the inhouse restaurant. The food served was great , specially the beef . The service in the restaurant was good too. As they serve mainly Japanese guest. We had some issue with communication, but the resturant manager was very patient to explain every thing to us from the food to how to eat using his limited English. We appreciated his afford ! It took bad that we did not have time to explore the surrounding, but I will be back to stay for more then just one night. The is a small town which I see that there are many things to explore.
• EELSM (4/5): Great view and good outdoor onsen but that was all - The Kagari Kisshotel looked much better on the website. The lobby felt more like a tour bus shopping stop at first glance with their gift shop right up front. Our room was not ready so they just left our luggage in front of the counter with rope tied around it. So much for a ryokan which costs almost as much as the high end hotels in Manhattan. However, the view was nice looking out but it was there before the hotel was so I consider it part of the nature. The room was a acoustic nightmare as one can hear movement of anyone getting up in the middle of the night. The bathroom was very dated which we avoided taking showers and had to use the public bathing area. The in room massage chair upholstery was torn, our balcony had a huge pillar in the middle so one had to get around it to converse with another . The private cypress bath which I thought was a nice feature when i made the reservation had mold growing all around the edges. It is the small things that turn off guests and never return. Unlike the sister hotel we stayed, the lobby area was aesthetically inferior without welcoming touch such as complementary beverages and free snacks which is almost a norm now in any upper end ryokan. Dinner was a mess to the point of hostile. We were assigned a table in an open area sharing one server with half of the dining hall. Our plates were left there uncollected after several courses. Although food just kept coming but apart from hot pot which we had to cook ourselves, there was almost no dish came out from the kitchen. I doubt if this place even has a chef. The only saving grace of this ryokan ( I paused to use this term here) was the view and the spacious public outdoor onsen area which was almost adjacent to the creek with soothing sound of running water. I got up at 6am to avoid the crowd, it was the best decision I made as the mountain spring water was warm and the place was serene A Ryokan should be homey and welcoming which sets it apart from a commercial hotel, unfortunately, I had not such feeling being a guest of this place.
• 100christina (10/5): Excellent hot spring hotel - It's not a five star hotel but our group of 12 had a great time here. The hotel is situated on a cliff overlooking a creek. We took a hike in the trail along the stream. Very fun hike with lots of stops and lot to see (meaning creek, salamander and bugs). Make sure you bring some water with you if you visit in Aug bc there's no bathroom or water once you go on trail. We also rented yukata at the hotel. Hotel charges a little over 500 yen to rent one for the night. Room is tatami floor and spacious enough. We got dinner packages. Food was good and buffet breakfast was great. It's a short walk to town. Hot spring pools were not crowded and outdoor one was really nice. Only two downsides, bathroom was really, really tiny and I could hardly turn in it. No one except one gentleman from Portland, Oregon speaks English. Other than that, I would recommend this Onsen.
• AnthonyT418 (8/5): Comfy and high quality Japanese onsen hotel - Hotel shuttle pickup from Kagaonsen Station. Have to make booking 3 days in advance and it took a good 20 minutes. The checkin was quick and the staff speaks little English. We have a Japanese style room with private onsen . The room overlooks a river and the running water noise was there all the time but was not annoying to the ears. The decor of the room was up to standard and the heating was strong. One drawback was the shower room is next to the onsen and both are in open air under cover. We visited in February. The toilet is inside though. Breakfast and dinner was included and the quality was high. Kagaonsen is only 30 minutes away by train from Kanazawa, about the same time the shuttle bus takes to reach the station from the hotel. Haha. There is a great walking track along the river opposite this hotel. Must try.
• Miketlyangdenbosch (8/5): Relaxing and friendly Staff for hot spring hotel in Japan - This hotel is a branch of the main hotel in Japan's Yamanaka hot spring in the Ishikawa Prefecture. About 30 minutes by train and another 20 minutes by shuttle bus from Kanagawa City. Another 2 and half hours from Ueno station by bullet train. Room- We were allocated a big room next to a running stream. Food-- With 10 Euro per person extra, you have a buffet with local ingredients for dinner. Hot Spring: We have enjoyed 3 times during our stay. Very enjoyable. It is next to the main street of this little village. Staff-- Their English level is not the best but they do the utmost they can to make you comfortable. If I have a chance, I will definitely visit this nice little place again!
• MrDurden (8/5): A very Japanese experience - This hotel is a large, slightly dated, but still classy, ryokan situated in the spa town of Yamanaka Onsen. It's perched on a cliff overlooking the river below. This area is a bit off the main tourist track for English speaking tourists. Our party spoke only a little Japanese, and whilst at checkin they assigned a staff member to us with very basic English skills, we may have been a bit lost without our Japanese speaker. Dinner was a sumptuous multi-course Japanese banquet, heavy on the seafood and featuring a few menu items that may be a bit confronting for Western palates. There was also a lavish buffet breakfast with both Japanese and Western elements. Most rooms appeared to overlook the river, and are traditional Japanese style with minimal furnishings. The bathroom facilities did seem quite dated and out of keeping with the hotel's luxurious ambitions. There are Japanese baths, both indoor and outdoor, although perhaps surprisingly the outdoor male bath is not really screened at all from the walking track on the opposite side of the river which may deter more modest people at busy times. Free beer was served in the afternoon. We arrived by train, but although the hotel offers a bus service from Kaga Onsen station, the first bus was full and we had to wait an hour for it to return. The main centre of town is only a couple of minutes walk away, and features another public bathhouse as well as craft shops, tea houses and so on. The walk by the rushing river past several bridges is worth doing.
• Punn283 (10/5): A nice place to stay - The ryokan is located in a beautiful scenery along the river. The staff were nice , friendly and helpful. Food was nice. The best part of our stay was that we were kindly offered an upgrade to a room with private onsen. It was more than happy to enjoy onsen while listening to the gentle stream of the river. The free shuttle service to kaga onsen station made the stay more convenient.
