- Roman (10/5): Relax in luxurious ryokan - Yufuin Onsen Toshoan is a wonderfully serene retreat nestled among mountains, offering scenic views right from your room terrace and from its private open-air onsen fed by natural hot spring water. The atmosphere is calm and deeply relaxing, perfect for escaping the busy sights of Yufuin. I highly recommend booking dinner—the meal itself is an unforgettable experience. The walk to Yufuin’s charming village center takes about 20 minutes and is both easy and picturesque. I only wish we had stayed one more night to enjoy the peaceful surroundings longer.

- peichi (9/5): - 晚餐真的很好吃，而且擺盤非常漂亮。還可暢飲清酒，清酒的酒瓶跟杯子非常漂亮，也都冰過，非常好喝。房間非常大，溫泉比較起來小了些，稍微舊了一點，但乾淨。房間可以看到山跟火車，也有免費提供2罐礦泉水、膠囊咖啡機跟幾種啤酒，玻璃杯還冰在冰箱，讓人感受小地方用心。房間內的免費飲品是有定額的，後面水一罐要收110元日幣。雖然地點必較不方便，但旅館的服務非常好，入住會先有咖啡或茶，美味的晚餐跟早餐，早餐除了九宮格小配菜，也有美味的鮭魚跟豆腐和粥，最後也有咖啡或茶。搭火車旅館有提供計程車來跟回2趟接駁，計程車司機會直接去櫃檯請款。非常推薦去放空，但地點偏遠點，去溫泉商店街就不方便啦。

- Winnie Choi Wing (10/5): - The hotel is located just a 5min drive from Yufuin Station and the room has an amazing view of the mountain and the train tracks. There is a hot spring bath in the room so you can enjoy the view while soaking in the bath. The food was amazing, I have a dairy allergy and they do accommodate allergy restrictions if you let them know ahead of time which is very nice of them as some accommodation does not do that. The only thing we did not like was the bean pillows in the room, there are 2 pillows on the bed and one of them has beans on the bottom. We are not used to having pillows with beans in it so it hurt our neck and shoulders when we sleep.

Es gab ein Willkommensgetränk und auf dem Zimmer auch Getränkemöglichleiten (Tee, Kaffee ...) Das Essen war besonders gut. Taxi zum Bahnhof wurde vom Hotel übernommen.

The breakfast and dinner kaiseki are tasty and well presented. There are no service slippers. Extra bottles of water and coffee capsules are not free of charge. The onsen and the window blinds could use some upgrading. They look kind of worn out.

- YUN (3/5): I hope the management reads this andif they care, which I don’t think they do , because it feels like a complete scam. N - The location is quiet and the room is quite with privacy, they call you taxi when you check in and out but they didn’t reply to my message to manage my pick up, and it cost noting so I rather stay somewhere with better experience and pay for my own taxi. I really wanted to like this place, but it was disappointing from the start. The staff were clearly overworked and few in number, doing everything from check-in to serving meals.. The food was fine but way too expensive for what it was, and I was surprised to find the onsen wasn’t a natural spring, just heated water that didn’t feel very clean. I even found a few dead insects in the room. The atmosphere in the dining area was loud because of other misbehaving guess, and there weren’t any proper facilities beyond the room itself. What made it worse was being charged extra just for bottled water and even for setting up the futon, things that should really be included. After staying somewhere else nearby, I realised how overpriced and poorly managed this place is. I honestly regret spending that much money here.

- Hanna (10/5): Wonderful onsen stay with super tasty dinners and a lovely calm vibe - Wonderful onsen ryokan in the outskirts of Yufuin, with incredibly friendly staff and a beautiful view of Mt Yufu. The food is soooo good! We stayed for two night and had two different dinner courses, both of which were lovely. The outdoor bath in the room Botan was a highlight as well — so lovely to relax in the bath with a view of the valley and mountains. Location is a little tricky to find with the narrow street, but anything is possible with a gps so we didn’t really have any problems. And their slippers were very small — not adapted to a tall man’s feet. But this didn’t take away from the overall experience at this lovely hotel.

- Niles (8/5): Tosyan – perfect if you are looing for no interactions and good privacy - Location: if you are looking for getaway, stay at room all day, this is the place. Room: very big enough for 4 persons. TV has little channels. Private onsen: superb nice, overlooking the Yufu mountain (see pictures). Location: it’s 30 min walk from the center city. So you will have to drive down to center city and the parking is quite expensive, 200 yen/30 mins (some place with a cap of 1000 yen). Room: every room comes with private onsen and I believe they don’t have public onsen (as they never introduced when I checked in). The only weird thing is I stay in the western room but it turns out every package that comes in this room doesn’t include breakfast (which is quite extraordinary) and breakfast is like 20/30min walk away. Every other room comes with half-board (mandatory). I don’t know why they did that but I only found out when I checked in that there will be no breakfast (I paid 36,000). Compared to what I paid in minamioguni, 47000 for half board private onsen, I would actually prefer minamioguni, more private, more escape from city.

- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - The room and views look exactly like the photos. Booked the Standard Twin Room with mountain view and thanks to the great weather, the views were spectacular. The accommodation also has very good facilities and amenities. Meals were very good too - definitely worth to book with half board included! Staff were very welcoming and polite too. Will definitely be back! Beds can be more comfortable.

The breakfast and dinner are both so good. I will definitely stay there again if I am going to Yufuin. Keep up the good work. There's a really very nice male staff who take good care of us and our needs. Always smiling. Great job.

- Pearl (10/5): Wonderful place to rest, recharge and experience a traditional Japanese inn stay. - We received a very warm reception from the moment we arrived. The team helped us with our heavy bags down the stairs and patiently explained the details of our stay e.g. the meal times & housekeeping frequency. The lobby is not big but very cozy with all the wood furniture. The pictures you see are accurate. Our rooms were all on the second floor and accessible only via stairs, so do take note when traveling with older folks. For reference, our rooms were Std Twin Rm with Mountain View (superb view indeed and you can truly see the train), Twin Rm & Std Twin Room (a little bit darker cos the windows are in the bath area). There are also rooms on the first floor. Our highlight were the meals - so carefully prepared, very good quality and delicious. We enjoyed both the breakfast and dinner. Highly recommended to get your room with meals. The rooms were traditional but clean. Having a private onsen in all 3 rooms was convenient and very enjoyable. Our stay was incredibly restful and peaceful - a wonderful place to recharge. We are used to the modern comfort of having the shower area right next to the toilet, so it took a bit of getting used to have to walk across the room from the toilet to the shower/onsen area. But this is just a minor inconvenience. Do take note that the road leading to the hotel is a little narrow and we initially thought we had driven to the wrong place.
- Andrew (10/5): A traditional Ryokan that offer excellent service! - The hotel offer superb Japanese hospitality, the meals are delicious. Service are polite and excellent ! It is a very traditional Ryokan with an in-room onsen bath. The hotel does not offer a communal onsen bath. Our room faces mount Yufuin and the view is very nice. Hotel does not have a shuttle service, however, it will pay the taxi driver when you hail a taxi to go to the hotel, on check out, hotel will get a taxi to get you back to the rail station . The stay was very relaxing and of value.

- Mun (10/5): Wonderful memories - Service and food were exceptional. Staff were patient and friendly. They did what they could to make our stay a great one. We stayed for two nights and the variety of food was good. They remembered our food preferences. The room we stayed was huge. Nice view from the bath area overlooking Mount Yufu and the train track. Although the location was a little far from the main area, taking a taxi to the sightseeing spots was quite reasonable. It cost about 800 yen to get to Yufuin station and 1500 yen to get to Kinrin lake. It would have taken us 30 minutes to walk to the station. Ryokan paid for one taxi ride from station to ryokan ont the day u check in and one taxi ride to the station when u check out.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - 가이세키가 고급 다이닝같이 플레이팅도 예쁘고, 맛도 좋았어요. 특히 야채를 아주 잘 조리하시는듯…! 프리드링크가 좋았고, 사케를 주문해서 먹었는데 달지 않은것 추천받아 주문했는데 달더라고요.. 직원이 술은 잘 모르는듯. 대욕탕이 없는게 좀 아쉬웠고 프라이빗한 것은 좋았습니다!

Special thanks to Jesik Lama who prvovide excellent service make two days wonderful dinner. However in this room the bed is too soft and the Onsen pool and the window curtain need to be upgraded. After all the food with the viewis so incredible and worth everything.
