Guest Reviews
- Lance (10/5): - Fantastic property, the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great ! Beautiful surroundings and a unique experience being raised above the sand. From our room we could see the dunes, the estuary and the sea in one view along with the bird life. It offered us everything we wanted and was good value for money, would definitely stay again !
- Samantha (10/5): - Great funky place to stay and good view of the sea, camels and flamingos.
- Keri-Ann Marie (10/5): Unique hotel with great staff! - This is a such a unique hotel! Beautiful location - walkable to Swakopmund restaurants and sites, but still secluded. We could see flamingos, camels, and the ocean from our room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to the area!
- Andreas (8/5): - Breakfast was very good
- Lindsay (10/5): - Quirky, extremely comfortable and very well appointed accommodation, with stunning views.
Easy check in and checkout.
Well located - easy walking distance to whatever we needed.
Breakfast was stupendous, great choices - and the coffee was absolutely to die for!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
- Claude (10/5): - Every thing all right
- George (10/5): - A great mid level hotel, within walking distance of the centre of Swakopmund (15 minutes). Something different, as it is all on stilts (hence the name), with lovely staff and set overlooking the beach / sea and the local flamingos. The rooms are large, ours had 2 bedrooms, one with 2 single beds and the other with a double, and a bathroom with shower. Towels are provided, as is shower gel. There is a mini fridge in the main bedroom, which also functions as a living room. There is a small balcony. Breakfast is included, and is in a large communal area.
- John (10/5): Great location - Great location on the beach. It was very fresh - we could hear the waves crashing and the air was fresh and salty - a very magical place. The hut was next to some pools with flamingos.
- Joshua (10/5): Magic - I can't say enough about this place. I was on a long trip and at first was sad there was no TV. But the window facing out to the desert, I've never had such a beautiful or amazing view in my life. I can't remember what type of room i had to book for that view, but book it. I sat on my bed, and watched the flamingos in the river. I watched the sand dunes. The cars in the desert. The locals walking their dogs as they chased the migratory birds. I've traveled all over the world, and the view from my bed in this place, is one of the most magical experiences
- pam (8/5): - Lovely location. Lodges have all you need for an overnight and breakfast. Walk to town. Provision of blankets and heaters appreciated as it was cold when we visited.
- Ralph M (10/5): Unique Accommodation - The Stiltz is currently the most prestigious and exciting accommodation in Swakopmund. Located at the quiet end of town and built next to the sea it offers breathtaking views and up-market comfort.
The idea of accommodation on stilits is not new but mostly found in Asian travel destinations. To re-enact such a set-up in Namibia is gutsy but will pay out in the long run as guests will come to appreciate the distance to your neighbours and the unique views from the units.
The interior of the double-storey "Villa" is functional and tries to blend in with the African woods used, but it seems quite empty given the excessive space where 6 people can stay in three double rooms without bumping into each other.
The bathrooms are spacious and the decor is tasteful, again complementing the Africa Safari feel. The amenities lack a bit of spirit and thought but the remainder of the Villa is equipped with everything a traveller would need, except maybe a TV that should be standard, but the high-speed internet made up for it.
The breakfast is also served in one of the units on stilts and represents a rich standard for this class of accommodation.
The service throughout is friendly although reception retires early and the guard becomes your biggest asset as he can orgabnise wood for the fireplace, even drinks and can also wash your car if he is not patrolling below the units through the bush.
In summary: a stay at the Stilitz is highly recommended and adds one more memory to your trip
- neil (10/5): Great spot - Fantastic place, great location and friendly helpful staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Positives: Cool concept: a hotel on stilts! Walking distance to town. Good breakfast. We could hear waves crashing all night. The staff is good (if a bit pushy) about booking local excursions. Still really helpful staff overall.
Negatives: Room a bit shabby, could be updated. Limited parking (you may be forced to park on the street outside). Not all rooms have ocean view -- be sure to book one that does. Top to bathroom was open meaning (i) you can hear everything going on in the bathroom and (ii) when someone went to the bathroom in the night it lit up the entire room. Shower drain clogged.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay - Nice bungalows. Comfortable and close to the restaurants of the city. Good breakfast
- Fanie (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. No noise. Friendly staff. Breakfast good. Parking area is too small.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Interesting and peculiar layout - Quite unique hotel with good services and breakfast, but the room neded some maintenance and a bit better cleaning
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful location, Beautiful accomodation - We were greeted by a very helpful man as we drove in who assisted us extremely well.
Reception staff were also excellent .
Our room was superb and the breakfast also excellent.
An excellent place to stay in Swakopmund
