• Cecile Herzl (10/5): Great and relaxing stay - We really enjoyed our stay at Mikro Livadi! We were very warmly welcomed by our hosts and Angelica was very friendly, had great advices for us and talked about the local traditions with us. That was what made our stay so special and relaxing. We can also recommend the restaurant, most of the vegetables were from the own garden and the dishes tasted deliciously! The appartement was large and luminous and very clean. We especially enjoyed the large terrasse. We'll definitely come back :)
• Roland (10/5): Wunderschöne Anlage in sehr guter Lage, mit super Küche und liebevollen Gastgebern. - Mikro Livadi ist eine relativ neue, top-moderne und gepflegte Anlage mit 6 (?) Appartments. Eingebettet in einen schönen Garten mit Pool (für den es uns aber zu kühl war). Wir hatten jeden Morgen ein wunderbares Frühstück, mit frischem Orangensaft, Avocados und Tomaten, verschieden zubereiteten Eiern, Sandwiches mit Käse und Schinken, einen frischen Pfannkuchen, gefüllt mit Käse oder frischem Fenchel, köstlichem Käse... Es hat an nichts gefehlt. Und alles in hoher Qualität, zumeist aus dem eigenen Garten. Dazu sitzt man wunderbar, überdacht und doch beinahe im Freien und schaut - im November - in den sonnigen Garten. Unsere Gastgeberfamilie hat sich rührend und stets aufmerksam um uns gekümmert, herzlich, ja liebevoll. Wir hatten mit dem Appartement Dafni ein großzügiges Appartment, modern eingerichtet, mit allem, was man braucht. Gekocht haben wir nicht, meist unterwegs gegessen. Man kann sich aber unkompliziert am Morgen für den gleichen Tag zum Abendessen anmelden, was wir dreimal getan haben. Die Eltern kochen dann topfrisch verschiedene Gerichte aus denen man wählen kann. Wir haben das sehr genossen. So leckere und frische Calamari habe ich noch nirgends gegessen. Wir waren in der zweiten Novemberhälfte die einzigen Übernachtungsgäste, aber abends waren immer Gäste zum Essen da. Die gute Küche ist offensichtlich gut bekannt in der Gegend. Wir hatten zwei wunderbare Wochen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. So herzlich sind wir noch nirgends empfangen, bekocht und versorgt worden. Zum Abschied haben wir sogar noch ein Care Paket mit einem großen Stück Käse, Honig und anderen Leckereien bekommen. Wir waren sprachlos. Und dann brachte die Mutter noch frische Avocados aus dem Garten! Herzlichen Dank an diese lieben Menschen! Als Basis für die Erkundung von Westkreta ist die Lage sehr gut. Wir waren mehrmals in Rethymnon und in Chania, aber auch im Süden und im Hinterland, haben uns Museen und archäologische Ausgrabungen angeschaut. Nichts. Es war wirklich alles top!

• טלי (10/5): מקסים! מושלם ! - מלון משפחתי מושלם, ממוקם בכפר קרוב לחוף נפלא. חצר מטופחת, בריכה נעימה, לצד מטע זיתים. המלון מנוהל על ידי משפחה מקסימה, שקיבלה אותנו ברוחב לב ונדיבות אין סופית. הדירות גדולות ומצוידות היטב. אני מאד ממליצה על המסעדה שלהם- מנות יווניות מסורתיות, גדולות מאד, הכל מוגש באהבה ונדיבות, את האוכל הם מכינים בעצמם, מתוצרת שהם מגדלים בגינה ובמטע. גם ארוחת הבוקר נפלאה. הרגשנו פשוט בבית. חופשה בלתי נשכחת. נשמח לחזור לשם.
• EVMORFIA (10/5): Amazing accommodation, great people!!! - The location was amazing in a quite part of the village, the rooms had all the amenities and appliances, very knit and clean. The owners were very friendly and nice, this is the famous Cretan hospitality that sticks to your heart and cannot forget the feeling!!
• Michaela (8/5): Herrliche Ruhe, überwältigende Gastfreundschaft - Die Gastfreundschaft der Gastgeber ist außergewöhnlich – man fühlt sich sofort willkommen. Die gesamte Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und sauber, der Pool lädt zum Entspannen ein. Auch das Essen hat uns gut gefallen, und die Freundlichkeit der Gastgeber macht den Aufenthalt besonders. Die Unterkunft liegt recht abgelegen, ein Auto ist daher unbedingt zu Die Klimaanlage war recht laut und schwer zu regulieren. Im Bad war kein Fenster. Eine Duschstange und ein -Vorhang sowie mehr Haken wäre sehr hilfreich. Das Frühstück fanden wir im Verhältnis etwas teuer. Mit kleinen Verbesserungen könnte das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis noch stimmiger sein.

• Telma (10/5): Dreamy Stay - We can only say good things about our stay. Everyone was so kind and warm to us. Our room was perfect. The cleanliness was impeccable. The breakfast was abundant, fresh and delicious. One of the times we even got specialty cakes from one of the best spots in Rethymnon as a very sweet and generous gesture. We had some meals besides breakfast that were brought to our terrace and the food was a true Cretan experience. Absolutely delicious. We had a great time at the pool with the beautiful backdrop of olive trees which was just picture perfect. We would like to thank Mr Aetos, Mrs Malamatenia, Angelika and Natasha for your kindness and just making us feel like we were part of your family. We took all of you in our hearts. Mr. Aetos, Mrs. Malamatenia, Angeliki, and Natasha welcomed us as if we were long-lost family. Every meal was a journey — dreamy dishes crafted from ingredients picked fresh from their own fields, each bite carrying the warmth of their care. It was, without doubt, the finest home-cooked food I’ve ever tasted. But it wasn’t just the flavors — it was the people. Kind, open-hearted, and generous in spirit, they turned our stay into something unforgettable. Our children woke up each day eager for the surprises that awaited them, and when the time came to leave, none of us truly wanted to go. If Crete is calling you, trust me: follow it here. Close your eyes, take the leap, and you’ll discover a place that feels like home from the very first moment. There wasn’t a single thing I didn’t enjoy.
• LudwigS. (10/5): - Nette und zuvorkommende Gastfamilie. Für jede Familie weiterzu empfehlen. Saubere Zimmer, Top Service. Die Lage der Anlage liegt nur 150m vom Strand entfernt. Leckeres, traditionelles Essen im eigenen Restaurant möglich. Oma kocht selbst. Die Strasse zum Strand ist stark Frequentiert. Es ist aber ein Übergang im Bau und somit nächstes Jahr wohl fertig.

• Gjergji (10/5): Exceptional - This was such a lovely, peaceful location! The rooms were very clean and well equipped for any needs during our families stay. It is a family owned business and they went above and beyond to take care of us. They were so friendly and warm and made it feel like a home away from home. The food was really from farm to table and it was very delicious! We would heavily recommend to any thinking of visiting.

• Maximilian (1/5): I strongly advise against booking this property, especially if you have children or like bright sunny rooms. - — Not as described – no response from hotel, case under review The accommodation differed significantly from the description: no bathtub, smaller than stated (it stated 82sqm, but it wasn’t even half of the stated size), fewer beds, and a much greater distance to the beach than advertised, at least double the distance. There was no view at all, and the windows were tiny – a far cry from the bright, open space shown online. The rooms were incredibly dark and gloomy. At check-in, we were offered a “free upgrade” – which turned out to be a downgrade. When we asked for the room we booked, we were told that all other rooms were under construction and that’s our problem. I contacted the hotel in writing on June 3, 2025, detailing these issues. Despite setting a deadline and expressing willingness to resolve the matter amicably, I have received no response to date. Booking.com is currently reviewing the case. Their portion of the payment was promptly refunded – the hotel, however, has shown no willingness to resolve the issue.

• Maciejdz (9/5): We had a fantastic holiday. - We had a fantastic time in Mikro Livadi Hotel. The family that owns /runs it, really is very helpfull and sweet. We ate several times at the hotel's exclusive restaurant and every time the food was excellent, fresh and often from their own farm. We had meat, seafood and some vege pies, plus all side veggies that were availlable I guess :), although we would've been just fine with their cheese, bread and olive oil ... haha. Much like mama's kitchen, I would say. The apartment we had was clean, spacious, had everything that we needed. Just outside the terrace there was an array of beautiful plants, among them a lime tree, lavender bush, and jasmin. Oh, the scent !!! I once stayed half a night reading a book on the terrace just intoxicated with these aromas. There were clean towels and sheets every few days, plus a set of pool towels too. The pool was great, just perfect size and depth to swimm and for kids to have fun. The beach is just few minutes away, large, with beach bars and showers. There aren't any shops within walking distance, which was not a problem for us, but if you need some supplies it's best to get a bus or a taxi to the town.

We were so welcomed and embraced by Melamatania, Angelika and Anastasia , with heartful support, love and energy. What a great place, what a great Family ! And of course the food, which is Excellent ! Farm to table indeed ! Nothing. It was perfect.

• Kerry (10/5): Beautiful calm setting and delicious food, where we felt like one of the family - From the moment of arriving, and throughout our stay, we were so warmly welcomed by Angelika, Anastasia and her mum that it felt like we were visiting much-loved friends or family. We loved everything about this holiday: the exceptional service, friendliness and kindness of the hardworking owners, the delicious fresh-cooked food every day (both breakfast and dinner), the peaceful and serene location with immaculately kept gardens, large clean and welcoming apartment with lovely views from the terrace, superb salt-water pool. There is free parking on site, and the accommodation is less than 1 hour drive from Chania airport. We were sad to leave, and recommend this place highly for both the restaurant and the accommodation. It is the epitome of warm Cretan hospitality, away from the tourist crowds. Not a problem for us, however it is probably easier to get there by car, as we did. The nearest beach is a very short walk away, however there is a busy road to cross.

• Frederik (9/5): The stay with Angelica and her family made our stay memorable, making us feel like we were coming home to a great dinner - Not only the location to visit the Rethymno region is perfect, the facilities with restaurant and swimming pool, and the room overlooking the mountains ( a real treat in the evening) are excellent. However, what makes the real difference is the family atmosphere: Angelica and her mother take really good care of you, and you feel like a cousin invited to a home. The food is made with local materials and we would recommend you try the Fennel pie! Breakfast keeps you going for most of the day, brunch style ! NA

The owners are hard working people with big hearts. I felt at home. I wish I could use the salt water swimming pool, it was too cold in the season for me.
• Itay (10/5): Amazing place to spend your time in Crete!!! - Words can not describe! This is such a wonderful place. Everything about it is just exceptional. The room we had was huge and spacious with a fully equiped kitchen, a seperate bedroom, cosy living room and a huge shower area. There is also a very nice private sitting area around the room to start your morning in. The family who runs the place is so nice and welcoming, you immediately feel part of it. The natural salt water pool was nothing short of amazing and we spent a lot of time around the pool area. Located just 300m from the main road and the beach, location was great and easy to find, having a private parking space is a plus. The in-complex resturant serves home cooked food made intirly of stuff they grow on pramise or buy from local farmers. The food was very good and the prices are... just normal (cheap like the rest of Greece). The surrounding area is as beautiful and wild with some great views all around. We are definatly coming back next year! If I have to neat pick, the WiFi experience wasn't amazing in the room, but you probably don't need it - go outside.
• Dina (10/5): One of the most welcoming and fantastic places that we have ever stayed - There was nothing that we didn't like, the apartment was large, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very quiet. Malamatenia and her family were so kind, welcoming and friendly, the cooking at their restaurant was outstanding with lots of veg and meat from their own farm. They were so welcoming and always had a smile, nothing was too much trouble. The beach is only 5 mins walk with lively tavernas, the area is very pretty, not overrun with too many tourists. Their salt water pool was gorgeous and spotless too with great views of the mountains. It was so relaxing staying at Mikro Livaldi we would definitely go back. Special thanks to Angelica and Anastasia for their kindness, smiles and knowledge of their beautiful island. Had fun at Lake Kournas swimming in the beautiful clear water and diving from the pedalo. We absolutely loved everything about this place, couldnt fault anything. There was absolutely nothing to fault.

• Nina (10/5): Exceptional - I very rarely post reviews, but we had such a wonderful time at Mikro Livadi, that I wanted to write in. The lodge is run by a a lovely family, who cook amazing authentic meals and were always attentive to our needs. there was a deep kindness to them that is rare these days especially in the hospitality industry where everything feels so affected. The apartment we stayed in was great, kids loved it too. The grounds are beautiful, the pool is lovely and great to jump into after a long day of sight-seeing or beach time. The beach at a 2 minute drive from the apartments is beautiful and so much more tranquil (and attractive) than the ones in Rethymno. I can't recommend enough!
