Guest Reviews
- Kenny (10/5): -
- Lori (10/5): Great!! - Overall just amazing. Great location. Excellent breakfast!!! Friendly staff!! Will be returning.
- Debbie (10/5): Great place to stay in Athens! - Clean & convenient It was all good!
- Jennifer (10/5): Phenomenal experience - Very well maintained. Comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast None
- Debbie (8/5): Good trip. Parking was terrible. - Clean& convenient The gate to enter the parking deck is problematic. It never worked correctly while I was there. Pls fix this!
- Jamie (10/5): - Everything its so nice and staff amazing
- Aimee (7/5): Pretty expensive considering it was just a Hyatt property - It had a great location to the downtown. The price was pretty expensive and the hotel was full of kids running around including in the elevators. There was some sort of kids convention going on and they were practicing in the hallways between rooms. The kids ran in front of us to get in the elevator first. The kids really were not being supervised.
- Willie (10/5): Excellent. Beyond my expectations. Great staff. - My room was more than expected. Clean spacious and plenty of privacy. No negative comments about my experience at the Hyatt.
- K6331OOzacharym (6/5): Average HP with poor globalist recognition - Very typical Hyatt Place with inferior globalist recognition. I know the price is reflective of the location, but I expected this hotel to be somewhat elevated at nearly 4x the points cost of similar HPs. I was not recognized as a globalist during my stay and was not upgraded to even a high floor room despite high floor rooms (and suites) clearly showing as available. When I checked in, the clerk did not give any information about the amenities (time for breakfast, parking details) without me asking directly. She did not offer water. When I requested water later in the day, I had to haggle with the clerk to get two bottles (she stated I was entitled to one).
- Michele (10/5): -
- Z166ILstephanied (8/5): Bereavement stay - In town for a funeral. Very nice hotel. Room was clean. Breakfast was very good. Only thing I didn’t like was no microwave in the room.
- Carmen (10/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Andrea (8/5): It was a decent stay, and the rooftop bar was a 10/10. - I enjoyed the scenery of their rooftop bar. Cleaning staff did not come at all during the weekend trip, ran out of towels :(
- JING (9/5): -
- TrailBlazer503310 (10/5): Exceptional Service from Rock and Megan – A GSEF Success! - I recently stayed at the Hyatt Place Athens/Downtown for the 2026 Georgia Science & Engineering Fair (GSEF), and I cannot say enough about the phenomenal experience we had. While the hotel itself is beautiful and perfectly located, it was the staff—specifically Rock and Megan—who made our stay truly unforgettable.
Traveling for a major competition can be stressful, but Rock went out of his way to ensure my son’s stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. He has a natural gift for hospitality and made us feel like VIPs from the moment we arrived.
Both Rock and Megan went consistently above and beyond to make certain we were pleased with every aspect of our stay. Their attention to detail, warmth, and proactive service are the sole reasons we will be returning to this location in the future. It is rare to find staff who care this deeply about the guest experience.
We have already begun recommending this Hyatt to others booking trips to Athens, GA. If you want a stress-free stay with a team that treats you like family, this is the place to be. Thank you, Rock and Megan, for being a part of our son's big week where my son placed Top 5 in his category!
- William (9/5): Pretty good place to stay. - Breakfast Tools in front of an elevator on the 9th floor floor for an extended period of time.
- 921sherryj (10/5): Perfect location for downtown access - Perfect location for easy downtown access. This is our go to hotel for visits to Athens. Breakfast is great and included. The roof top bar offers gorgeous views of the city. Rooms are clean spacious and up to date. TV was the only thing in the room that could be updated. Using points makes this a GREAT value!
- Brooke (10/5): - Convenient to everything downtown. It took a while to actually get a room. We had to keep going up to the desk to check to see if our room was ready. We ended up having to go get an early dinner while we waited. It was well after check in time.
- Laina (10/5): -
- Nomad736572 (10/5): Excellent Hotel - Amazing hotel: Great location! Large, clean rooms, excellent breakfast, easy parking and rooftop bar is a plus if not too crowded. Perfect location for downtown Athens events. Next door to Classic Center/Akins Ford Arena.
- Traci (10/5): Love the Hyatt - Convenient, clean, friendly, Hybar, breakfast The bathroom door is sometimes hard to lock
- Heard (10/5): -
- Kenneth (10/5): - Great facilities. Great breakfast. Great fitness area. I would stay again. N/A
- FarAway18751077369 (10/5): Great Hotel! Great Location! - We loved this hotel! It is in a great location. Our room had a great view of downtown Athens. It is modern, clean and the staff was friendly. It is close to shopping and dining..we could walk everywhere. Walkable to the Akins Arena. They do need to work on their elevators as they are pretty slow, but we had a great experience.
- Lowpro (6/5): Confusing elevator system. - This is an adequate hotel, but I must say it has the most messed up elevator service I have ever experienced. Registration is hard to find, so I parked in the 15 minute spot and began my search. Once found it was time to move my car and park. The elevator from the parking garage was not working when I arrived so I shlepped my bags up to my floor. There is a completely different set of elevators for the hotel than for the parking garage! When I came down for breakfast the next day I was met with two sets of buttons in the car, one a push button and one a push screen. Both work, but only sometimes. My first attempt I was denied access to the main floor! I took it to the 2nd floor and walked down. Finally after two days there I figured out the elevator. Room was fine, food was fine, but probably won't be back.

- PitaJr (8/5): February 2026, 2-night stay - Had a private reservation for the GMEA All-State weekend at the Classic Center. Convenient parking deck, good breakfast. Cleanliness was okay. Check in was a little chaotic due to large groups checking in. The entrance door to our room had damage - looked like someone had tried to break into at some point. The room has definitely been well used and was showing some age/wear & tear. Overall clean, but then we found a carpet beetle in the bed our last night there and started questioning cleanliness. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to speak with a daytime manager before they left to discuss this.
- Charles (10/5): -
- Randy (8/5): Great place to stay for concerts at the akins Ford arena - Nice location. Good staff. Great breakfast Broken elevator
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Jackie (10/5): - Breakfast was excellent. Room was clean..location wad great!
- Jennifer (6/5): Ok hotel. Great location, but not worth the amount of money we paid - Great location. There was no hot water in the morning for showering. The elevator was broken, and the parking deck was covered in ice.
- heathj509 (10/5): Nailed it again! - I always enjoy staying at the Hyatt in Athens. Very convenient to the Classic Center and an easy walk to downtown Athens.
- 905melodyc (8/5): Usually good, but not this time - Room is nice and clean. Breakfast is wonderful. It is usually very good, but this trip was not. No hot water on Friday morning before we had to go to a meeting and the garage elevator wasn't working at all. Only 2 of the 3 elevators in the hotel were working. I have stayed here before and it was a wonderful experience, so I'm not sure what happened this time.
- Tiara (10/5): Very clean very comfy. - Everything the main thing I like is you have to use your key to use the elevator that’s the best.
- Christeen (10/5): - Staff was exceptional! Accommodations were very good.
- Gina (10/5): Comfortable, parking was great and staff was great - Friendly staff, very comfortable beds, location was perfect It was NYE and booked solid. One of the elevators was out of order. Things happen, it just took longer waiting on an elevator . I’m sure it was being addressed
- Lori (6/5): It was ok - The breakfast and the room Cold shower and the dinner. One elevator was down so took some time to use it
- Nela (10/5): An outstanding stay with excellent service, comfort, and location—I would absolutely stay here again. - Everything about this stay exceeded expectations. The hotel was spotless, modern, and very well maintained. The staff was incredibly welcoming, professional, and attentive, making check-in and the entire stay seamless. The room was comfortable, quiet, and thoughtfully set up, and the location was perfect—close to everything while still feeling peaceful. Honestly, there was nothing to dislike. Everything was handled exceptionally well.
- Mary Lee (10/5): The stay was nice - The breakfast was great !! Daryle at the front desk was wonderful. The cost is alot for the city of Athens. This is a good hotel but for that price I would expect LUXURY. When you pay a mortgage payment for 2 night I expect more. And the elevator in the parking garage was broken and you could not get to the roof top bar.
- Robert (10/5): - Excellent location for downtown. Walking distance from everything. Nothing
- Kimberley (10/5): -
- Rhonda (8/5): - Breakfast was great . Our room didn’t get cleaned.
- Steeve (7/5): Good short stay - The breakfast was great. Location was ideal. Rooftop was not open on Sunday
- Paul (10/5): Great experience -
- Greg (10/5): -
- Matthew (9/5): - Paying for parking. I really think it's a scam to charge to park if I'm already staying in those expensive rooms
- Allen (10/5): - The property was clean and well done, a good value for the ate. The staff was courteous and the breakfast was very good. of note was the clerk at check in who remembered me from my stay the previous week and gave me a little "welcome" snack bag that was appreciated. Everything was good and everyone was courteous and helpful.
- Jennifer (10/5): Great stay, last minute choice! - Great location
- Thomas (9/5): -
- O4874FOcarrieb (10/5): Very impressed - Wow. Can’t recommend this hotel enough. We usually stay at other chain hotels but this one was much cheaper this time. We loved it and will stay again. Very clean, updated, great location, and the breakfast is the best hotel breakfast we have ever had.
- Scenic15392916569 (10/5): Great Experience - It was a clean, quiet stay. Staff very friendly and I requested no services during my two day stay. I have relatives in the area so I will be back.
- Lenicia (10/5): -
- Chris (10/5): - Our stay was wonderful. We attended a concert next door and loved the convenience. N/a
- Cinae (10/5): - The room was clean and inviting. The staff members were all so nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet had a lot of options, and the hotel was right next to the venue I was going to for New Years Eve.
- Michael (8/5): -
- Karim (7/5): -
- Tyler (10/5): -
- Mya (10/5): -
- Teasley (10/5): This is my go to place when I’m staying in Athens. I’d highly recommend it! - I enjoyed the proximity to downtown and it is always a great stay whenever I come. There was only one elevator working.
- Johnson (10/5): Good and enjoyable! - Clean and staff was very kind! N/A
- Odyssey21245122794 (10/5): 5 stars for the staff! Beautiful roof top bar - Had tickets for a local show. It was a COLD Friday night and the coffee shop near the venue was closed. Stepped in to get a cup of coffee or directions to another coffee shop. My GF and I were greated by super friendly staff and offered complementary coffee. Made small talk with the staff and then SISSY asked if we had ever visited their ROOF TOP BAR. We had not and SISSY took us on a tour to the rooftop. The view from rooftop bar was beautiful and we will definitely return when the weather warms up. If you have not visited the rooftop bar please do so. If you want to meet a wonderful represenative of the Hyatt find SISSY. She made our night.
- I4975XHerich (6/5): Nice hotel with some mindless buffoons running it. - The room was very nice and clean. The breakfast staff was top notch. The front desk was polite but ineffective. Management? Does it exist at the Hyatt downtown?
- Debra (8/5): -
- K3816OHjenniferg (4/5): No Hot Water! - I stayed at the Hyatt for three days for a music festival with my 12 yo daughter. The location was perfect as we could walk to all her sessions and the restaurants downtown. However, when we went to shower in the evening and in the mornings, there was no hot water! When I called the front desk I was told "there was nothing they could do. Just let the water run to see if warms up." For a company that promotes being echo friendly telling guests to watch gallons of water run down the drain in an effort to get hot water is disappointing. Even cheap hotels provide hot water for their guests. For the price I paid for this room, I expected a hot shower and better customer service!
- CINDY (10/5): - Breakfast was wonderful. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Staff was very nice and professional.
- Daphne (10/5): -
- Jordan (10/5): By far the BEST complimentary breakfast at any hotel Ive stayed at - It’s always clean and professional I didn’t like that the elevator in the garage didn’t lead directly into the hotel but it will not prevent me from coming again!
- Wang Brian (10/5): -
- Amanda (9/5): - Very clean. The elevators always seem to be out of order or slow when we are staying at this hotel.
- witherspoon (9/5): Other than my issues with the bathroom it was okay. - It was cozy, clean & quiet. I’m not fond of the bathroom doors being glass and the bathroom not having a fan/slash some type of ventilation.
- michellecG1015JB (10/5): Great Game Day Experience - Perfect Location, Walking distance to the stadium and restaurants. The front staff was very nice and accommodating. Was able to check in easily.
Just couldn't find the microwave in the room?
- Jason (10/5): -
- FAIL00 (4/5): Robbery in Athens - The rooms are grossly overpriced only to be outdone by the gross breakfast that is "served" daily. If you like stale toast, rotten eggs and coffee stations that aren't maintained well...then this is your dream hotel.
- kayla (10/5): -
- April (10/5): Wonderful Parents’ Weekend with our favorite UGA student - Location, comfortable room, great pillows, quiet mornings, BREAKFAST 👍👍, and the Roof Top Bar ❤️ We had a great time with no problems.
- Tina (10/5): Excellent stay, very close to starting line for GA Ath Half, great location - So clean, easy to get to, breakfast was awesome Can’t think of anything
- Melissa (9/5): -
- Veronica (8/5): -
- Gabriel (10/5): Enjoyable - Everything was smooth and the staff did an amazing job making us feel welcome.
- Hunter (10/5): Very good - Everything was smooth and the staff did an amazing job making us feel welcome.

- jeremyn896 (10/5): Weekend Stay - Stayed at the Hyatt Homecoming weekend at UGA. Breakfast offerings were great. This was a busy weekend in Athens and I think the hotel was completely booked. Only thing to work on was the parking garage was a bit chaotic at check in. May need an employee to help out in that area during peak times.
- jannatolleson (10/5): Always great! - 2nd time staying while in Athens. Will be my top choice for each visit. Considering the amount of traffic that comes through this hotel it is impeccable clean and neat.
- Allyson (9/5): Enjoyed the stay, will more than likely book again - Breakfast was good. I bit over priced
- CaroCBM (10/5): Love this place! - I have stayed multiple times at the Hyatt Place in Athens. It’s always my first choice. Has an excellent breakfast! Very nice place to stay!
- keasoyc (10/5): Love the Hyatt! - Everything met my expectations. I loved the breakfast. Hate the elevators. Room was clean. I slept well. Will definitely book anytime I am coming downtown Athens!
- N8809QWcourtneyp (10/5): 5 Star Review! - I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at the Hyatt. Rooms were very nice and clean. I got a good nights rest - didn't hear any sirens, car horns, etc. Breakfast was delicious and staff very polite!
- Samel (9/5): Great breakfast buffet and very clean. Great location for the objectives of my travel. - Great location near the university, dining and walking/hiking trails and nature area as well as cultural venues. The television consistently lost it's signal interrupting the viewing. This was not exclusive to my room as other guests reported the same annoying problem. The issue also happened on multiple days as well as the televisions in the lobby area.
- Amanda (10/5): Great location, wonderful staff, yummy breakfast and fun rooftop bar - Staff at front desk were friendly and helpful, breakfast staff were so kind and top notch. They went out of their way to make sure everyone had what they needed and never stopped cleaning. Breakfast was also surprisingly yummy, especially the potatoes and bacon. Location is perfect for walking downtown or to campus. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Loved the rooftop bar for conveniently meeting up with friends or grabbing a drink before dinner.
- Deborah (10/5): - I called Expedia and the hotel ahead of time to make sure that my son could check in since I was not arriving until later. They allowed him to check in easily once they notice that in the comment section they had added his name to the reservation. The next morning my daughter arrived and she needed a key and was given a hard time by the check-in desk saying her name was not on the reservation and they would not let her in. She had to call my Son to come and get her a key to the room. My son was already checked in and their names were on the reservation but the check-in desk said they weren’t there on the list
- Erica (10/5): - The hotel is great. Great location downtown; it is on the east perimeter so you are easily downtown but it isnt loud.
However, the food at the rooftop restaurant is truly horrible. Drinks/bar are good. We got margarita flatbread that had the consistency of less than a cracker, and an unbearable quantity of balsamic vinegar drizzle that really made it inedible. Someone else got the sliders medium; it came very well done and and the cheese wasn’t even attempted to be melted on….it was Cracker Barrel cheese squares added at the last minute when put on the bun.
- WHITNEY (10/5): - Everything was wonderful! Clean, comfortable room. Breakfast options were amazing! Staff was super nice, 10/10!
- Gazale (9/5): - Breakfast was great. Floor was loud. I did not sleep on September 12.
- Shaunte (6/5): - Sean was so rude and smug. I spoke with Amanda the manager upon checking out. She was very nice and professional and helped to remedy the situation. Sean definitely needs some customer service training.
- L4743XVmaryt (10/5): Conference at Classic Center - This hotel location is ideally located in downtown. It has an onsite rooftop bar and is super close to tons of restaurants and shopping.
- Andrew (10/5): - The staff service was very good and they were informative about the time the restaurant was open and parking. Very easy to find the hotel and it’s close to the Classic Center and restaurants in downtown Athens
