Guest Reviews
- Katinka (8/5): -
- Gregory (10/5): Great experience. - Cabins were very comfortable, private, and quiet. Owner Fabrice was fun to talk with and owner Sabrina cooked excellent meals. The garden is beautiful and it was fun to see the rescued monkeys.
- Vicki (10/5): - We loved the ambiance of the property and the owners were friendly, helpful, and gave great service. We also loved our private bungalow tucked into the jungle setting. Communication was also excellent prior to arrival. Nothing
- gianfranco (10/5): -
- Carole (6/5): - We enjoyed the meals and the staff were great The grounds were unkept, the pool needs attention and cleaning. The rooms were pleasant but we had cockroaches. The showers were cold.
- christine (4/5): Déçue - Hôtes gentils Aucun confort
Lits durs
- Jody (6/5): - The dogs and the grounds.Dinners were good. There was a smell of sewage by our cabin. Breakfast was always the same.
- Daniel (8/5): We enjoyed our stay and would go back. - Loved the abundant vegetation, real jungle feel, the monkeys were nice to look at. the home made lasagna was delicious and the staff went out of their way to serve us. Breakfast was very good and copious. Cabin was a little small for comfort and the noise from the nearby highway was pretty bad at times, took away from the magic surrounding. The pool is not easy to get out of, very big step for bad knees.
- Victor Alfredo (6/5): -
- Diego (8/5): Good but a bit pricey - Friendly staff, cozy facilities, great food A bit pricey for the offering
On entend l'autoroute située à 500 m continuellement.
- peter (2/5): Not worthwhile. - Unfortunately the Monkey Lodge is not a jungle lodge nor even a decent place to stay. Located next to the highway, one hears traffic day and night. It is a kind of large green garden with wooden cabins. The hotel has no infrastructure, doesn’t serve lunch and with a kind of zoo area, where some monkeys are helt. Excursions are standard, offered by the local tourist services. No need to stay at this lodge for them. Not worth it. Almost everything.
Super accueil! Je recommande vivement
- Mia (10/5): BEST TROPICAL STAY! - Can’t miss this!!! The staff is so fun and friendly! Getting there was so easy with the reference video they sent. The food is delicious , Yoga classes are a must, and the tours were amazing, we saw a lot of animals!! Full Nature contact, relaxation and good vibes! Thank you for everything!!! WE LOVED EVERYTHING
- Kelly (10/5): - Beautiful lodge with secluded casitas. The lush surroundings and wandering trails around the property make it a peaceful retreat, and several areas to watch the monkeys in the trees and playing in the yard. Relax by the pool or outside - it's very tranquil. I'd recommend the lodge next to the monkeys so you can watch all day The monkeys weren't as playful as 10 years ago, but definitely worth seeing again.
Petit déjeuner copieux (œufs, pain, pancakes, fruits frais, et the/café a volonte)
- Antonio (1/5): Mala experiencia - El sitio tienes posibilidades Cucarachas, muy caro, toallas sucias sábanas sucias, cama rota, personal desagradable….
- Sebastiaan (1/5): We left in the middle of the night, slept in car, they cheated us! - We waited for over one hour, they did not open the door, no answer to phone call, these people are mad !!!
- casey (5/5): We only stayed for about 2 hours. We didn’t feel welcome or comfortable. - Nice private garden setting in rainforest. Buildings rundown, beyond being rustic which is what we expected.
- Henricus (8/5): Very nice - Good food, very nice surroundings and garden
- Trindle (8/5): Very good - Very picturesque and a good pool
- Elena (3/5): Not worth the trip! - The bed was quite comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. Monkey Lodge is remote, with no nearby food options. The owner was rude on arrival, the room was basic with a dirty shower, and the pool was filthy—with dogs swimming in it. No WiFi or phone signal, so don’t expect to stay connected. You won’t see monkeys unless you pay $250 for a tour. Totally disappointing.
- Danger-k (9/5): Superb - The vibe, the hosts and the dogs. The pool and the room were also very good. A very chill place to spend a few days and just relax. Kinda hard to find and the dinners are not great value, but considering there are not really any good options around, it's a decent deal.
- Hanna (4/5): Dissapointing. Attention: 4 big dogs - The outdoor area is quite nice with nice chairs and a pool.
It was nice to see the monkeys that close. Even they are in a cage, they seem to be treated nicely. There are for dogs. Two of them seemed to be of the race fighting dog. They might be nice but nevertheless we were scared of them and I had a panic attack as I had a very bad experience the day before with a big dog. We have two small children (the youngest is 1,5 years old) and due to the fact that we were scared of the dogs - also because of the fact that we had two small children which are not used to dogs - we
asked one owner if it's possible to keep the dogs inside while we are around but he neclegted. That was really unprofessionell of the host.
Hence, we felt really uncomfortable these three days and avoided the lodge during the day. It would have been nice of the owner to listen to us and keep the dogs inside during breakfast and dinner!
Until we came there, we had no idea about the dogs. Neither in the discription, nor in the fotos of booking the dogs are mentioned.
Our room was close to the monkey cage. In the evening, when the monkeys also went to sleep, it was awkward to sit at the terrasse and listen to e. g. the washing mashine of the owners as the kitchen was close by.
We had a big bed which was ok, but the two mattresses of the bunk bad have been really bad and thin! Adults or older children can not sleep in it properly!
The pool area seemed a bit dirty and we saw a cockroach in the pool.
We have been really disappointed as we looked forward to this lodge for our last days in Panama.
- Miroslav (8/5): Very good - In the nature Not enough water in the swimming pool
- Kimberly (7/5): Good - We didn’t end up staying long enough to really appreciate the place. We didn’t have the breakfast nor did we try the pool. Rooms were fine. Basic but did the trick for a night’s rest. The owner was helpful to us particularly as we arrived later than planned and departed very early in morning.
- Betsy (10/5): The owner was very friendly and accommodating and helped with tours. - The property was very private! The huts were spaced away from each other that the only time you saw other guests was at meals or the pool. There was no chair in the room to sit.
- Nico (6/5): Pleasant -
- Charline (7/5): Secured but not authentic enough for us - The room was clean and spacious! We had a good dinner and breakfast and the dogs were cute! Nothing to do by feet around the hotel and maybe no luck but the pool was not clean when we were there. We didn't like to see monkeys in captivity, without any explainations if it was a rescue or not.. it was our last night in Panama and we had hotels with free monkeys around, no fence, really in the Jungle so for us it felt sadly not authentic.
- Anne (10/5): Beautiful jungle setting, very friendly and accommodating host, delicious breakfasts & dinners. - In a beautiful jungle setting. Hosts are very friendly and accommodating. Breakfasts and dinners are delicious In an off-the-beaten-track location, and no decent town nearby.
- Marta (9/5): Superb - Nice place on beautiful garden. Monkeys are locked on small area but you can see them. Bungalows are quite big. Trips were very expensive.
- Caryl (10/5): Best Hosts Ever - The grounds are lovely, tucked away in a private piece of jungle. The pool is very clean and nice, and the units provide opportunity for solitude with ample privacy. The very best thing about Monkey Lodge is the family that runs it. They are so accommodating and kind, and have a great deal of knowledge. We had tours with the father and son, and both tours were incredible. (take their advice and get up and out early for tours) I had some confusion with transports to other locations, and the family was incredibly helpful in straightening out my mess, even after I departed the lodge. It was a totally awesome experience, and I will return for a visit. I liked everything!
- Beyza (10/5): Exceptional - We had a very nice and cozy stay at Monkey Lodge. The hosts were very friendly to us and genuinely great people, they have several rescue monkeys they take care of on the property and also four lovely dogs! Also, we took the Gatun Lake tour and opted for homemade dinner offered by the accommodation— both were excellent choices, would highly recommend!
- Steven (9/5): Superb - Ambiance, atmosphere. Personal touch. The daytrip on the lake and canal .the host was our personal guide .
- Mrs (7/5): Not for everyone, as long as you are prepared. - There is a small bar, restaurant on site next the pool, which is pleasant and surrounded by greenery. The evening meal on offer, as there are limited opinions, served between 7pm - 8pm, was delicious and clearly prepared by a trained cook. Unfortunately, this doesn't extend to the breakfast included in the nightly rate, as this was very basic and disappointing on both mornings. The five monkeys on site can be seen through a large fenced off area, which was entertaining. Both the hosts were friendly and always available to help. Originally, my husband and l were booked into a standard cabin, but were very disappointed at quite how basin this was. We had stayed in similar rustic cabins, in a natural environment, throughout 5 weeks, travelling around Panama, for 40%, less, but this accommodation clearly didn't match the website photos, even for a rustic cabin. The cracked concrete floor wasn't a good start. We then upgraded to a family cabin, the only option available, at an extra cost, which was a little more comfortable, although a few basic touches would go a long way. Reading lights or lamps and towel rails. But l feel l must mention the noise. Firstly, from the dogs' rescue home next door with what sounds like packs of dogs barking at different intervals day and night. Then, there are the constant noises and horns from the large trucks and cars on the nearby busy road, again day & night. I would recommend ear plugs for a good nights rest.
- Greta (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (9/5): A great chance to relax and experience some rainforest recuperation. - Monkey Lodge is very secluded and difficult to find after dark. Not a criticism, but try to arrive during daylight. The bunglows scattered through the property are lovely. They're not at all basic, but air conditioned (if needed), with fan. The bathroom facilities were good. It was a great place to relax and have a quiet time. The pool was great for sitting around in the evening and early morning. Food was brilliant - home cooked and excellent. The tours offered are incredible, in that they are relaxed, it never feels like there's a time agenda and everyone is accommodating. It very much feels as if everyone loves what they are doing - probably because they are. I can't honestly think of anything that I didn't like...
It's a very quiet place and probably best suited to couples. But having said that I didn't feel out of place as a single person and was made to feel absolutely welcome.
- Zorana (8/5): Cute Bungalow, nice garden, loving dogs - Super nice garden with a lot of nice places to chill at or take a dip in the pool. Tasty breakfast with some affectionate (well trained) dogs around. They also take care of some really curious and cute monkeys that you can watch for hours. They also helped us find a way to a nice trail and saved us part of the entrance fee as we arrived with their guide. We can't say anything about their tours as they were a bit out of our price range. Due to the remote location it's fairly convenient to have dinner at their location, which did not meet our expectations compared to the price asked. As the place is close to nature we found multiple 6 legged visitor's in our bathroom.
- Iannone (9/5): Superb - Excellent food, friendly staff in a smaller setting. Nice excursions. Great dogs!
- Marion (7/5): Nice stay in a rustic but beautiful setting - It is rustic but peaceful and lovely, well maintained and the food is excellent. The room was fine, basic but clean and had A/C. Hot water was iffy.
The host is delightful and the attention personal.
The tour as really great, loved the waterfall hike and swim, some tubing and the Embere village visit. Excellent guide. The hot water
- Ermelino (3/5): Not like expected - All what a like was the silence but the rest not like i aspected Piscina
Breakfast was all days the same 😩
Price too high , more expensive than a Marriot hotel in a city center.
Location
Nothing to do all the day.
- Nilka (10/5): Fun, it was close to our party ! We love it , I will go back - The green plants, is like a jungle in the city of Panama The hills
- Luca (10/5): Paradise - I loved loved loved sooooo much this place. If you wanna have a great jungle experience then come here, you won’t regret it. The host were sooooo nice and willing to help. Special thanks to Mia who helped me soooo much during our stay. Would definitely recommend and would totally come back if in Panama
- John (8/5): Great family run business mother and father were great hosts and son provided an amazing tour. - I liked having the monkeys right there, and the food was great. I didn’t find anything I disliked about the property.
- Rhiannon (10/5): Incredible. - Monkey lodge is a real gem - the family who run it are wonderful, and the food was wonderful. The setting is incredible. They organised transfers for us, and we paid extra for a boat tour where we got to hand feed monkeys - a once in a lifetime experience.
- Jennifer (6/5): Pleasant - The cabanas and pool area were very nice. The food was excellent. Despite reading reviews to the contrary, the owners were not very friendly. Food was very good but a little overpriced. If you don't have a car, you are really isolated. No where to walk to.
- Mónica (10/5): fabricio and his hospitality and her wife “the chef” made these 2 days an awesome stay - excellent spots, beautiful place, good attention, excellent food! all good
- Mónica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Virginia (1/5): Bad -
- Diego (1/5): Bad - bad smell of animal poop. too expensive for what it is. 160 plus taxes for a room without a finished floor, without tv, with a strong fecal
smell in the facilities. If it cost about 50 per night the expectation would have been different
- Gregory (10/5): Exceptional -
