- Marguerite (8/5): Helpful courteous staff. - Breakfast very good. Coffee was out at 5:15 am and helpful with early breakfast when catching 6 am ferry. The cook was a sweetheart. Very kind. Exterior needed sprucing up.
- Robert (9/5): We enjoyed our stay at glacier hotel. - Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was good.
Our room was clean every day during our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good location close to everything around Valdez. We we’re staying on the first floor too much noise from upstairs stomping on the floor. The smell of Lysol spray was so strong we have to open the window to let some air in and get the smell under control. The shower water pressure was like a fire hose.
- Steve (8/5): Overall nice stay - Great breakfast
Great location
Nice staff Could use a bit of updating
- Crystal (4/5): Good enough for one night, but not recommended. - The staff was nice. The beds were hard , the facility was really dated and the room was clean but the restroom was not.
- Daniel (10/5): Great place to stay if you’re on a budget without wanting to compromise. Walking distance to everything. - The front desk is very friendly and breakfast was amazing. Great value for money! Loved all of it.
- Stephen (7/5): - We were disappointed in the gluten free options. Needed to be updated
- James (8/5): Overall it was a great stay! - How clean it was. The TV in room 204 did not work. Staff would still bother you, even with the Do Not Disturb on the door.
- Denise (3/5): 1st and last time staying there - Dish TV was and has been down and not working, front desk told me to just deal with it and maybe it will start working again.
No offer for a solution from the front desk.
Hotel smelt bad, overuse of Lysol disinfectant spray.
- John (9/5): -
- william (7/5): - coffee maker in room
- Sara Marie (7/5): A simple and convenient place to stay in Valdez - The location was convenient for getting to an early ferry departure. Staff rather eccentric but friendly. Nice that there was a coffee/tea station for guests. There was quite some noise from the hallway when a tour group was arriving.
- S2628FCtylern (2/5): Took my money and didnt cancel my reservation - I made a reservation for this place and had to cancel a few minutes later. The date was a month away from the time I booked it. I spoke with the manager on the phone and she said she canceled it. A month later I got charged for a no show and upon asking for a refund. I wasn't given a refund and they were extremely rude about it as well. I do not recommend this place.
- YANYI (10/5): - Super clean
- Gage (10/5): - Excellent breakfast
- Stäubli (6/5): - Ruhe Einrichtung
- Michael (7/5): Average. - Location was very good. Cleanliness, more comfortable beds.
- Jennifer (2/5): Bedbugs, bites, bloody sheets and no refunds. - The mattress had tons of what looked like black pepper and blood stains all over it, it was covered in bugs. My daughter got bit all over. I tried calling downstairs and no one answered, I went down there and no one was there for over 30 minutes. The lady even told us that if we got locked outside at night, she would buzz us in. That was a lie because she wasnt at the desk to let anyone in! We werent able to find anyone to tell them the room had bedbugs and we left an hour after checking in and never got a refund! Never stay here! You can tell how old and outdated everything is at this place. An ice maker from the 80's, lamps and bedding from the 90's, 10 year old mattresses and 15 year old TVs in the room and nothing worked. Absolutely terrible experience and I was charged for just being there an hour or less because the front desk goes to sleep after 10pm.

- Cheryl (8/5): - The room was clean and comfortable. The facility was easy to find and the harbor is within walking distance. The breakfast was amazing! Lots of choices and delicious.
- Kevin (8/5): - It was fine, it's just a basic motel. Breakfast was quite good, the beds were quite hard and springy.
- Ivy (2/5): - This is not a pet friendly hotel. They do not allow pets. We paid, went all the way there and were turned down because we had pets. The staff was AMAZING and referred us to another hotel with availability bit....definitely NOT pet friendly
- Vera (8/5): - All in all nice hotel.
- Scott (8/5): - I stayed the night with a friend and everything was perfect except for one little thing: when taking a shower, the water would, without warning, suddenly turn very hot, go back to normal, then turn ice cold. Other than this, the rooms were spotless, well maintained, and the service was excellent.
- Robin (8/5): -
- Robert (8/5): Good Stay in Expensive Area - Enjoyed good breakfast. Room was reasonably sized. Being in far end of building.
- N265ANwilliamh (2/5): Not a good place to stay - Front desk people were rude and hotel was dirty. I would not stay here. Breakfast was cold and was not very much of it. Not worth the money.
- meganrX54GQ (2/5): Stay Somewhere Else - My husband and I were on vacation and visiting Valdez, AK. We got a room at the Glacier Hotel. We checked in and went sightseeing. We came back in the evening to relax in our room and get some sleep. At 11:00 pm, someone tried to enter our room. Thank goodness the door had a chain or they would’ve gotten in because they had a key to our room! I asked who was there and a man said “Sorry! Wrong room.” I was concerned about the door almost opening and woke my husband. In less than two minutes the door opened again only being stopped by the chain. This time I got up because the door didn’t close and a lady was hollering. There was a lady and two men at the door. The lady wanted to know why I was in this room. I told her we checked in that morning and this is the room we were given. She hollered and stated this is not my room and again asked why I was in there. I told her the same thing. She kept hollering until my husband gave me our room keys in the paper pouch with the room number written on it. She then stopped hollering and said “Oh, I remember him” pointing to my husband. She then said she would look into this and left. My husband went to the front desk and she said she was the front desk manager and she figured it out. What?? After hollering at me that I was not to be in that room and waking a baby down the hall from us with her screaming all he got was she figured it out?! What was the end plan here? She was going to kick us out of our room at 11:00pm and put someone else in it after we had been in there all day and sleeping in the bed? The next morning my husband went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. Again, the same lady, the front desk manager, told him the manager wasn’t there. She was very rude to him and told him she figured out what happened. No apology……nothing! I joined him downstairs and she said she tried to call us last night but no one answered. The phone was right beside my ear and it never rang! She then stated she knocked on the door before trying to enter. Another lie. Both of us were awake after the first man tried to enter our room. She then stated she would refund our money due to all the commotion and hollering the night before. Another lie! We have tried to get in touch with the manager/owner to no avail. The people who work here are very unpleasant, not helpful, and will lie to your face. The place is not very clean and not worth the money to stay here, especially if you’re traveling and want a good night’s sleep. I highly recommend staying elsewhere.
- Clea Sol (10/5): - Perfect location
- sizemore (6/5): -
- HollyAnne (4/5): Looks can deceive - When I walked in the room, smelled clean (like bleach) and looked clean- I turned on the heater and then my room had a smell so awful I slept with the window open all the way -despite the rain- and the bathroom fan on all the time. There was trash under both beds.
Across the hall my co-worker had mold on the ceiling of his bathroom. They did come clean it with bleach that night, and the next day sent maintenance to cut out the mold and replace the sheetrock....not a great experience.
- Patricia (6/5): Do not recommend - Breakfast was the best thing about the stay
Beds are uncomfortable, outdated rooms , no coffee for convenience in the rooms , carpet was dirty & needed upgrades
- Dmitry (8/5): - Хорошее место, отличный персонал, нам очень помогли. Разнообразить завтраки
- Susan (8/5): Some concerns - The hotel is somewhat run down. However, looking at the other hotels in Valdez, which also appear rundown, this hotel was average. The baseboard heater made it hard to adjust the room temperature. The largest issue we had was that the mattress is actually about 6” larger than the frame underneath. It caused the edge of the bed to fold over. This should be fixed by replacing the frames with the correct size.
- Grzegorz (9/5): Dobra lokalizacja - Obiekt położony w samym centrum Valdez. Wszędzie blisko. Miły personel. Coś tam można wybrać w ramach śniadania. Przydałoby się odświeżenie obiektu
- stanley (8/5): - Our stay was pleasant. You are only a couple of blocks waking distance to restaurants, food trucks, harbor and other activities. We felt safe walking.
But beware, if you get a front room the traffic is very noisy. The double container trucks roll by all day and into the night. If you open the window you can't hear the TV. So bring ear plugs.
- Kunning (8/5): - Kinda old hotel but clean and cozy
- Anne (6/5): - The room was dated but clean. The hotel is in a good location with free parking on site. We didn’t like the breakfast, it had limited healthy options.
- Ellen (6/5): - Convenient location, but the hotel is a little threadbare and the amenities, such as a limited breakfast selection and the lack of a coffee maker in the room, are just average. One shelf of the refrigerator was broken, making the refrigerator of limited use.
- John (10/5): - I'm assuming the room was newly renovated and it was in immaculent condition. The breakfast is way better than the standard continental breakfast at other hotels.
- Goetzke (8/5): -
- zhaorongm (6/5): Mixed Experience - Good Amenities, Poor Customer Service - The Good: The hotel room was clean and met expectations for the price point. The complimentary breakfast offered good value and quality.
The Problem: I encountered a billing issue due to a duplicate booking made through a third-party app. Despite my efforts to resolve this before my stay, the situation escalated into a frustrating experience.
When I noticed the duplicate booking, I immediately called the third-party to cancel one of them. They explained they needed email confirmation from the hotel. At check-in, I informed the front desk staff about this requirement. The agent checked her email and provided me with one room, seemingly resolving the issue.
However, I was later charged for both reservations. The third-party confirmed they had sent the cancellation request to the hotel but never received a response. When I contacted the hotel directly, I spoke with two different representatives on separate occasions. Both promised to investigate and call me back, but neither followed through.
Ultimately, I had to dispute the duplicate charges through my credit card company to get resolution.
Bottom Line: While the hotel's facilities are adequate, the poor customer service is concerning. Future guests should be especially careful with third-party bookings and ensure any issues are fully resolved in writing during check-in.
- Francesca (7/5): -
- Elisabeth (8/5): - The breakfast was good and cooked in a kitchen vs reheated in a microwave.

- Charles (8/5): -
- John (10/5): Fifth stay here! - This hotel is my go-to place in Valdez! Clean, comfortable room. Great shower. Friendly staff. One of the best breakfasts I've had at a motel. They even tody up the room and bring fresh towels everyday. This is a great place!

- Douglas (8/5): - Breakfast buffet was very good!
Wish refrigerator had a freezer compartment.

- Ming (10/5): - Clean and nice service. Breakfast is convenient
- Terry (10/5): -
- Giulia (9/5): -
- Trevin (8/5): Nice basic hotel for 1 night - Nice bed and breakfast options High price for basic hotel
- trevor (10/5): - Thank you Marie for finding the jacket I lost and posting it to me 😊😊😊😊
- Gabriella (4/5): Good position but not recommended. - Good position, bed comfotable. Breakfast basic level served in an orrible room. Old hotel dirty carpet: to be completed renovated. Not recommended.
- Nick (8/5): Basic hotel but done well. - Stayed two nights with my family, good sized rooms (we had 2) clean and tidy though one room had no view to be delighted with, the other looked over a snow capped mountain and the street outside. Beds soft and comfortable. Breakfast was basic but good, coffee, hot chocolate and chilled water always available in the reception area. Very happy and exceeded expectations.
- Douglas (10/5): - None
- celiah333 (8/5): Very pleasant - Doesn't look much from the outside but we enjoyed a very comfortable stay here. The room was pleasant and spotlessly clean, good bathroom and fluffy towels. Above average complimentary breakfast with eggs and sausages and waffles on request
- Kevin (10/5): -
The owner and the staff were so kind, and they even helped us with the glacier reservation. Anyway, their kindness was just outstanding.
- Richard (10/5): - Enjoyed our older hotel but very clean, awesome shower and breakfast
- Alessia (7/5): -
- Emily (8/5): - A conventional hotel in a convenient location, across from the Valdez Museum and a short walk to many food trucks. A hot breakfast is included but it’s not particularly healthy (need more fruit options than just bananas). The bed was comfortable and the towels were fluffy. No gym. Plenty of ice. The decor would benefit from an update. The only odd thing was that the hot and cold faucet was reversed at the bathroom sink, but we got used to turning it counterintuitively. Fine place to stay for two nights.
- Cheri (10/5): - Valdez is such a beautiful little town, old but beautiful
- Douglas (10/5): - Nice people.
- Brett (7/5): It worked out well. - Hotel was clean and quiet. Breakfast offered was good. Staff was very friendly and responsive to any needs we had. Bed mattresses were very soft. We tend to prefer firmer mattresses, so we did not sleep very well.
- anna (7/5): - Esternamente non si presenta bene. Le stanze sono però spaziose e pulite. Colazione un po’ misera.
- Jessica (8/5): - Very clean very nice staff The bed was extremely had as a rock in room 110. we had to get an air mattress to act like a bed topper.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Great location and friendly staff
- Walter (9/5): - The breakfast was good.
- Robert (10/5): - The place is older but well taken care of. The breakfast was the most I was impressed of. Real eggs, potatoes, and sausage. Biscuit and gravy with fresh coffee all day. Be sure to bring ear plugs it helps not only in this hotel but others alike. It will help you sleep better because Valdez doesn't.
(annyeonghaseyo) is Hi in korean
(gamsahabnida) is thank you
