Guest Reviews
- Allison (8/5): - We did find the lighting very dull. There need to be extra lighting in all the rooms.
- Ingrid (10/5): Beautiful location, private and quiet in nature. - Beautiful location and view from our room. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment for cooking or a braai; the stoep had a braai and hot tub with a stunning view to enjoy. Our room was private and quiet, perfect for a romantic getaway. The hot tub takes very long (almost 3 hours) in winter to heat up even with a good fire, so plan ahead and leave enough time for preparing the hot tub.
- nicolas (5/5): déception. - le calme l’odeur de fumée froide dans le séjour ce qui nous a contraint de dormir dans la chambre d’enfants, pas de soleil dans le logement.
- Jessica (10/5): -
- CarDanTheNomad (10/5): A Gem of a Holiday Stay! We'll be back! - An absolute gem of a property, ticked away at the bottom on the Langeberg mountains. Most beautiful views from Oak Cottage - with hot tub! We loved our stay and will definitely be back. Manager Craig and all staff super friendly and kind, cottage very well equipped and comfortable, shop on site had most of what you need except fresh produce. Their breakfast and break baskets were delish! Note: No MTB trails on the property. Wonderful restaurants in the area - recommend Succulent & The Lab! And do not miss a visit to the succulent nursery down the road, incredible variety! Wifi mostly intermittent or didn't work
- Carola (9/5): -
- Shaun (9/5): Cape Farmstyle Chic - Breathtaking location.
Refreshing dam.
Child friendly pool.
Very private
Friendly efficient staff/ management.
Well stocked small shop.
Grounds are well landscaped and cared for
Cottage was well equipped with all the necessities
AirCon (for hot summers)
Comfortable beds. Crisp white linen.
Outside hot tub.
Indoor jacuzzi bath
Hammocks (x2) (for relaxing with a book or glass of wine).
We stayed in "NightJar" Exclusive Cottage (not the AfriCamps glamping tents)
Nice Touch:
Management Wazzaped info pack prior to arrival
Offered to pre-stock wood for braai/hot-tub A good 2+ hours drive from Cape Town (but worth it once you arrive)
Pool is a bit small (if there are lots of guests)
Pedantic about checkout time
- Hester (9/5): Serene mountain escape - Beautiful surroundings. Great braai baskets. Spacious and comfortable. Our cottage, Hadeda, did not have great views. The trees are quite overgrown. It is great for privacy but if you want the mountain views, request another cottage.
- Brett (10/5): -
- Donald (8/5): - Very peaceful and relaxing , off the beaten track
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Lukas (7/5): - great place, love hiking there. strange experience though with cows escaping the kraal and moo'ing throughout the night twice the cows and calves seemed to be left on their own moo'ing throughout the night two nights in a row. i had to go herd them myself. would've thought a caretaker would hear it and address the problem
- Francois (10/5): -
- Annerie (10/5): -
- Roshan (10/5): Stunning getaway! - Loved the serene atmosphere. The staff was wonderful. Safe, nothing to worry about. The place is absolutely fantastic! Nothing to dislike! 😁
- Wendy (9/5): Lovely 2 night stay - Pretty setting. Tranquil and relaxing. No real negatives - toaster could do with an upgrade maybe.
- Hannelie (10/5): We really enjoyed it and will definitely be back! - The view was superb. Facilities was perfect.
We loved the hot tub as well as the inside fireplace. We could not negotiate a little later check out time without an additional charge
- Elsabe G (9/5): Enjoy mountain magic and unwind in nature at Pat Busch - Tucked away at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, this mountain reserve provides balm for the soul. Far removed from city noises, with just the birds and beetles providing background music, this is a true gem. The chalets were well-equipped, and all facilities were great, and the friendly staff members were always willing to assist. Sitting in the hot tub under the canopy of stars at night was a highlight. The mountain trails are all very challenging - perhaps the owners & management could look at creating a 1-2 hour trail that is less strenuous for those of us who are not seasoned mountain hikers.
- Carel (9/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): A piece of heaven in the countryside! Nature and relaxation is the order of the day. - The hot tub was fabulous. All the facilities were perfect.
- Jano Schoeman (9/5): -
- Robin (10/5): -
- David (8/5): -
- Daniel (9/5): Peaceful, lulling landscape, couldn’t have asked for a better getaway - can’t wait to be back - Amazing location
Very peaceful and quiet
Lots of animals Needed some guidance for indoor fireplace
- sarah (8/5): - Great getaway. Nice a quiet. Lovely scenery. The inside bathroom was good. The outside hot tub took forever to heat up and was slimey. Needed a good clean out. We didn't actually use it in the end.
- JulesR1 (10/5): A perfect getaway in beautiful nature - Fantastic, well stocked & furnished old farmhouse in beautiful nature. Loved everything
- Ferouza (7/5): Very peaceful - The pool The hot tub, takes a long time to heat up
- Rudi (8/5): Overall the stay was enjoyable and we would love to return and give the Africamp tents a try. - Nice tranquil location in between the mountains. Loved the birdsong in the mornings and throughout the day. The access road to the accommodation inside the resort was not in the best condition. The jeeptrack from Nightjar cottage to the main road in the resort was badly eroded in places and the main road inside the resort could benefit from grading with a grader or at a minimum filling in some of the corrugations.
- Nadia (9/5): Superb -
- Calista (9/5): Superb - Stunning property, we had a lovely stay.
Kitchen had everything we needed. Rooms were very comfy.
- Dilley (9/5): Incredible natural beauty, great location and excellent service. - The manager, Johan, was very hands on with our inquiries, which made us feel looked after. Great management & service! The overall cleanliness was okay, however the bed side tables were slightly dusty.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - We had a beautiful, quiet weekend! Everything was so clean and comfortable. We loved the little cottage with a fire inside, so cozy in the winter.
- Shelly (8/5): Very good -
- Andrea (9/5): Superb - Everything is always superb With all the wood available around the property and knowing how long it takes to heat up the hot tub, every other facility we have gone to either get the hot tub going, or they offer a bag or crate of wood with the stay. One would think they would supply at least one crate of wood for free to get the hot tub going considering it takes almost 3 crates of wood to get it started.
We also expect the facilities that is used most to be cleaned properly before we arrive. The bath still had old candle wax on it and was not cleaned properly, that is really a big no no for others coming in and have to clean before using. Because of that we washed all the cutlery, dishes and mugs before we used them just in case.
- Florence (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, above expectations
- Dantè (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dewald (8/5): Very good -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - My partner Rosa and I stayed for three nights for our mates wedding at this glorious location. I cannot give enough praise for how beautiful PBMR is and how welcoming the staff are here.
Such a chilled and relaxing place to stay. Would come back to stay here every year if I could, just to be away from everything and "exhale".
Well done and many thanks to you all at PBMR ❤️
- Dale (8/5): I don't want to come home. So beautiful and peaceful. The units are well equiped for self-catering. - Needs comfortable chairs on the patio.
- Mark (8/5): Very good - Location and Tranquility
- Christa (9/5): Lovely outdoor experience in private sanctuary - Excellent location, swimming opportunity and strenuous hikes. Loved it A bit outdated furniture, slightly dark. Adjacent house with shared wall.
- Morris (10/5): It's absolutely worth the stay... - Loved the hot tub, the braai facilties, the ambiance, and location, and absolutely loved
the fishing... Our stay was too short. I
could have done with another 2 nights...
- Elton (10/5): Exceptional - Nice peaceful and relaxing. Awesome scenery. Nothing to add here
- Sandra (9/5): Wonderful stay in beautiful location - will definitely be back! -
- Bruno (8/5): Very good - Great character. Two great hikes on the property. Beautiful views, peaceful, total silence other than bird songs, the wind in the branches and on top the hills. One feels so close to nature. A great place to recharge one’s batteries.
Proximity to Robertson and other little towns. Wifi is not good. Barely any access in the cottage.
- Shawn (10/5): Beautiful mountain getaway - Magnificent nature, especially the lake. Super friendly staff.
- Richard (10/5): Really special stay in a beautiful location - Beautiful location
Very well equipped cottage.
Hot tub
Spotlessly clean cottage with quality bedding.
Friendly staff
Small shop onsite very convenient. We liked everything!
- Jackie (7/5): Good -
- Shan (8/5): Very good -
- Robyn (10/5): Exceptional - Clean environment and well thought out cabin tool, extra firewood and the cabin is private. Nothing
- Chane (9/5): Superb -
- Elisabeth (9/5): Peace & tranquility with lovely accommodation! - We had a lovely comfortable cottage, nice and private with good views. Great shower, well stocked kitchen. The Braai & breakfast hampers were brilliant. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub too. Everywhere was immaculate and the swimming pool & area was lovely. Nothing
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about the property and our stay was amazing. It's the perfect spot for those wanting to break away from the everyday and unwind and reconnect in nature. With limited signal and no TV in our unit, we could truly switch off.
- Nadia (10/5): perfect stay away from hustle and bustle - Tranquil
- Abrahams (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was amazing Everything was amazing
- Anna (8/5): A brilliant place to chill and relax - We ordered a breakfast basket which was delivered by 8.30 and contained everything needed including fresh fruit cocktail.
Loved the dam to swim in.the wood fired hot tub was a good experience
- Jan (9/5): A Little piece of quiet in a noisy world - This is a super reserve in a fantastic location. The cottage was large and well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, and it was super quiet and relaxing, we wished we had booked longer, there is so much to do in the area, and we had some great meals in the local restaurants. Lots to see and do in Robertson and plenty of vineyards to visit Nothing
- Kerrigen (9/5): Superb - Beautiful setting with very comfortable cabins - all attention to detail given. Food baskets were excellent with generous portions and lovely produce No detailed map of hiking trails
- Gaylene (6/5): Relaxing but on a budget. Not 5 star. - It was rustic, and relaxing. The facilities could do with an upgrade. Chipped crockery, kitchen knife so blunt it was not possible to sharpen it.
Numerous bugs that bit me 😵💫
- Chris (10/5): Eccellent Stay - The setting and location of the cottage, surrounded by birdlife, amazing. Quiet and serene. The friendly people, well greeted by Johan. The outside setting is uncomfortable. Suggest more comfortable seating with cushions and back rests.
- Verona (9/5): Superb -
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Marion (8/5): Loved the location and break away! Feel refreshed and rejuvenated again. Will be back thank you! - We enjoyed the hot tub!
Absolutely loved the break away from City life, very friendly lady at the Shop and spectacular views. Missed the hammock?
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Henry (10/5): An incredible getaway for pure relaxation. - We loved the small touches. The electric blankets, the kitchen was well stocked, the hot tub (including the valuable instructions!), the shop and the staff.
It is so private and the perfect place to relax. The fact that we weren’t able to stay longer.
Other than that, is was perfect.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Demi (8/5): Very good -
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Van (9/5): Superb -
- Manuel (8/5): Very good -
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (8/5): Very good - Beautifully maintained with exceptional views. The bungalow had everything you need and we throughly enjoyed our stay.
- Camryn (10/5): It was a perfect, peaceful and tranquil stay. We loved the hot tub and the views the cottage had to offer. - How detached it was from everything. The peace and quiet allowed one to relax from all the noise that the city usually has. Additionally, the hot tub was the best asset of the property.
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional - Very peaceful and beautiful surroundings.
Cottage is cosy and had all the necessary items and amenities. They even had electric blankets.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. Johan came to help us when we had queries regarding the gas stove and even brought us an electric kettle in case we needed it Nothing. Would definitely stay here again
- William (9/5): Superb - Stunning views on the hiking trail. Hiking trail maintenance could be better. Poor signage at various places on the trail.
- Davids (10/5): Exceptional - That there was no tv
- Maxeen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dariol (10/5): Awesome.. ill definitely go back,, my first time but definitely not our last - Comfort ,, cleanliness and the secludedness I enjoyed myself so much
- George (10/5): Very lovely stay! Beautiful place and very cozy. We will be there again! - Beautiful unit between the mountains! In the middle of a storm, but the unit is well equiped and was not cold for a day! The indoor fireplace makes a lot of noice when it is windy.
- Aideen (9/5): Superb -
- Caitlin (10/5): Exceptional - We went away for my boyfriend's birthday, and it was everything and more what we expected, from the friendly staff and beautiful cottage we stayed in , not to mention the amazing views . Would definitely be back soon 😁😁.
- Christiaan (8/5): Very good -
- Pieters (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ernest (8/5): Great little breakaway - We loved that we could braai inside (winter) and enjoyed the cottage. The lawn with jungle gym was also nice to get out to when the kids didn't allow a longer outing. Enjoyed the hot tub too, even though it took much longer to heat than expected.
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ranjitha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (5/5): Passable -
- Christine (5/5): Passable -
- Van (10/5): Exceptional - The hot tub was the best thing! My husband and I enjoyed it in the rain and the cold was so peaceful, the bed was very comfortable, the scenery was beautiful , the walks up the mountain were beautiful, and I would most definitely go back! Absolutely nothing!
- Germishuys (9/5): "Just what the doctor ordered " - We never had the breakfast.
Serounding was perfect, quiet just what we needed. We liked everything. Weather did allow us to use the hot tub. Disappointed 😞 ⁷
- Edward (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirstin (9/5): Short and sweet! - I like the fact that it’s not a crowded holiday spot! The sound of nature and the quiet walks was lovely! We didn’t have hammocks as per the pics, but it wasn’t a big deal.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional - Our quiet, comfortable cottage had everything we needed for a breakaway weekend.
- Jayde (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tracy (10/5): Excellent all round - no privacy - Superb Location, exceptional natural features - accessible mountain stream, hour hike to top of a smaller mountain with views forever, dam with jetty and canoes/ paddle/boats and swimming in dam, easy walks in nature, plenty birds, outdoor and indoor facilities, exceptionally great staff, most certainly one of the best stays we've experienced with wi-fi for working online in a piece of heaven. No privacy on patio and hot-tub, guests or staff walk around close by in full view
- Etienne (8/5): While Oak Cottage has it all, we might consider a tent next time ... just for kicks - Did not have breakfast. Liked attention to equipment detail in the cottage, e.g. cutlery, braai equipment and general kitchen needs. Loved the tub, but found the wood pricy, especially in such "wood-rich" surroundings. Parking presented a bit of a challenge to turn one's vehicle ... basic paving would be a welcome improvement. Otherwise beautiful shade under the fig tree!
