The property’s reception opening hours are: 08:00 to 20:00. Late check-in is available until midnight/24:00. Please let the property know your expected time of arrival, in advance, using the special request box when booking or using the contact details found on the booking confirmation.
Please note that there is a 3.5% charge when you pay with a Visa or MasterCard.

- Alba (9/5): - Al estar por NZ conduciendo un coche dudé mucho en qué hostel escoger para estar cerca del centro y poderme mover sin tocarlo y a la vez no tener que pagar un parking de pago y fue una perfecta elección! En menos de 10mins estás en el centro caminando y hay parking gratuito en las calles de alrededor del hostel. El personal siempre fue muy amable y es de agradecer 🤗 Creo que se podría mejorar fácilmente la social area y hacerla más acogedora con alguna lámpara con luz más tenue.

Man musste extra eine App runterladen, weil jeder einzelne Raum in diesem Hostel nur mit App zu öffnen war. Das Personal war die meiste Zeit nicht aufzufinden und auch nicht besonders hilfreich.

The bathrooms are very tight for communal living. It wasnt too pleasant trying to move around people in a 2.5 m 2 room that houses 2 toilets 2 showers and 2 wash basins. Especially when youre trying to clean your teeth when someone steps out of a toilet cubicle after a number 2. Pretty yuk..

- Svenja (7/5): Alright for the price tag - The location is convenient and easy to find. The rooms are big enough, yet feel private and cozy. The check in process with no staff available is theoretically easy, but the app that opens all doors is annoying to use. The confirmation email also never arrived. So all in all it took me 20-25 minutes to check in and open the door. And then somehow I only got the door codes for the men’s bathroom even though my name and profile clearly state that I’m female. Luckily some other guests helped me out because again, so staff was available.

Access to room is via a phone app. If we did not want to download said app, we could receive a code - HOWEVER we would not receive a refund if the code no longer worked. I.e. if you are locked out of your room due the code changing (which they warned us can happen if their app updates) you would NOT receive a refund even though that is not your fault or within your control!
- Sharon (5/5): Don’t have high expectations - I booked a private room. I did not realize that it didn’t have a bathroom. Probably my fault for not reading the fine print. However, you have to go outside to get to the bathroom. It is not like it is down a hall. We booked two nights and ended up leaving after the first night. It was really expensive but there was nothing reasonably priced in Queenstown. It was the only thing we could find under $200 US a night

Restroom required walking a distance outside and using a door code each time. Doors only opened to phone app codes or long numeric codes. Spa areas closed early in eves or weren't open. No staff/assistance available after 8:30 pm No place to dry wet towel or clothing.

- Tahlia (7/5): - The location was fantastic and the place itself is good! Facilities were clean, bed was comfy and slept well and people are so welcoming and easygoing! Great for a stay in Queenstown! Unfortunately we had some issues for a late check in. The link sent to activate the key did not work. Thankfully some friendly hostel stayers showed us a QR code that helped it work and everything went smoothly from there for check in. The floor is quite creaky.

Checking in with the app was confusing... The room codes are too long so you always have to bring your phone everywhere with you. It would be nice to have a hotel type key or easier codes. Also would be nice to have a shelf, at least on the top bunk.

Dirty socks hanging from every hook in the room right next to the beds. Maybe the long term guests should all be together? Check in was bizarre. It should be noted that you are required to have ID to set up GOKI. I had my hands full with all my belongings and thought it would be simpler since I had arranged the app before hand. Change the app to say the letter name of the bed not a number. The lights from the beds filter through from the bottom. The person sleeping below me had the light on all night and this lit up my bed too. The shower had cold water at 6:30 pm and the reflective ceiling did not make me feel safe.

- Ayushi (7/5): Bunkers are the major priority but couldn't meet expectations. - Staff and vibe of the place was friendly. Kitchen was great. Bunkers were not comfortable for the person sleeping on lower birth as you only could sleep. There is no space to sit or move your head properly. Have to be super careful while going to sleep to make sure you won't hurt your head. And room was bit smelly, may be due to other people's things or socks. And no proper ventilation.

- Marco & Diane (8/5): Prima verblijf voor goede prijs - Het moet vanaf 9 uur stil zijn. Helemaal goed. Prima douches en schoon. We hadden een 3 persoons kamer. Deze was een beetje warm. Vooral omdat ramen niet echt open bleven staan en het rolgordijn irritant ging klapperen.

- Bruno (6/5): - Very close to the city center, shops and supermarkets. The sauna and jacuzzi are free, it was perfect after day hiking and exploring. The upstairs bathroom was mostly empty which made me feel like a private bathroom sometimes. The shared kitchen has a lot of utensils and pans. You can rent a bike for 10 NZD and it works perfectly The mattress in our room was not very good, it almost felt like it was broken. Since our room was on the backside on top where the fumes from the kitchen would go out, there was always a lot of food smell. The room was facing the sun the whole day, so it'd get quite warm at night. At night there's also a very loud noise which seems to be some kind of generator. There's only a terrible ceiling lamp with a light that wakes up the dead. The price doesn't make sense for this kind of place. I've paid less for rooms with private bathroom

- Nadja (8/5): - We absolutely loved our stay at Black Sheep Backpackers. The staff always was very helpful, especially when we arrived after 8 p.m. and couldn’t get into our room. With some of the staff still being around at that time we figured out how to set-up the Goki app to enter our room. The kitchen and bathrooms got deep cleaned at least once a day, so usually everything was pretty clean. The room had a little window we could open and there was even a fridge. The kitchen is very spacious and there’s pretty much all you need for cooking and meal prep. The amenities are superb - we especially loved the sauna! The location is awesome too. Within a short walk you’re in Queenstown Garden, in the park and in the town centre. You can also start the hike to Queenstown hill from here.

- Daniel (7/5): Good location, friendly staff. Private room no air con and shared bathrooms are small :) - Location is great. The private room has no air conditioning. If you open the windows you end up with mosquito city as I found out the hard way. The showers are small and in direct next to toilet so it's not great but it's part of backpacking!
