- Zaoxin (10/5): -
- Nancy (9/5): Highly recommended as it is near restaurant and slopes. - Good and delicious western and Japanese breakfast , nice spacious accommodations. The plus point is the Onsen in the property and the great views from the window from our bedroom
- Sabrina (9/5): Authentic, relaxing stay with outstanding service - Fantastic traditional Japanese accommodation with super friendly staff and perfect service. The rooms are simply furnished, but cozy and equipped with everything you need. Everything was exceptionally clean, and the daily onsen was wonderfully relaxing, even without a shower in the room.
Outstanding traditional breakfast and dinner, convenient parking, and a superb location with beautiful views, perfect for skiing and visiting Nozawa Onsen. Nothing
- jack (7/5): great place to rest if you are skiing near nozawa - breakfast was good, available in japanese/western style. views from the room/lounge was good. location is just 15mins drive from nozawa onsen town. counter staff was not polite, especially in the evening/end of the day.
- Nathan (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Such a kind staff always willing to help with our needs. - The central location made Alpen Plaza perfect for us. We were able to walk to the nearby Togari Onsen ski area, or, using our rental car drive to nearby ski resorts of Nozawa Onsen, Madarao and Myoko.
- Charmion (9/5): Thank you for having us at your family hotel. We enjoyed the view, - The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The beds were really comfy and the onsen relaxing.
Very close to the ski lifts. Nothing
- Alice (9/5): Amazing! Very satisfied! - The onsen shower room was so beautiful! Our room was really spacious and had a TV so we could watch the Olympics! The staff were so accommodating! They even made us some fried rice and French fries on request. There is a good ramen restaurant nearby. It took a little while to get to the nozawa onsen ski resort. Only like two buses a day a think. Too bad there isn’t an earlier bus. Then bus left around 9:30am and we arrived at the ski resort around 10:10am. I thought the dinner was very similar every night. We wished we had only done 1 or 2 nights of dinner there and then eaten something else the other nights.
- Alice (9/5): Amazing! Relaxing. Perfect. - Super clean, pretty convenient, relaxing, nice games to play, a clean onsen. A little farther from the nozawa onsen slopes than I was expecting. Dinner was very similar every night.
- Carson (10/5): Welcoming atmosphere and relaxing onsen. - The front desk was incredibly helpful and spoke english well. Friendly and welcoming. The onsen was very relaxing and enjoyable. They also included a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
- Arielle (9/5): - The location was great. The rooms were nice. Breakfast was amazing, and the staff was so friendly. Such a nice touch to have the new year mochi making experience, it was definitely a highlight! Honestly there wasn't anything to not like. The bathroom was maybe a bit cold, but otherwise clean and no issues.
- Joseph (10/5): -
- Jeff (10/5): - Helpful informative staff willing to gonout of their way for you. Exquisite views from common lounge. Room to dry snow gear. Short stroll to many local eating venues. Togari is a little difficult to navigate to and feom with intermittent bus schedules so chat to staff before arriving or when leaving.
- Elba (7/5): -

- Nicholas (10/5): Family friendly, affordable, comfortable - My family of 6 spent 11 nights here mainly because it was half the price of other accomodation in places like Nozawa Onsen
It was comfortable and the hot onsen bath was so soothing after a days skiing
Having a car is a must as you can drive to so many other ski resorts which are up to 45 minutes drive away
Togari onsen ski resort is a nice little resort too and very cheap and fun
The breakfast here was a traditional Japanese affair with fish, rice, miso soup, egg, little filled dough things which I forget the name but was delicious. Really gave us a full belly which was perfect fuel for a days skiing
They also accommodated us with our request for more western breakfast on other days
We also brought in our own konbini dinners as they have a microwave and hot water to use Really can’t think of much other than the shared onsen, but that’s just a part of Japanese bathhouses so no big deal
- Morten Andre (9/5): Modern and clean rooms, great views and staff! - We had a great time with Taka and his team!
Great room with a fantastic view, and our own new toilet in the room.
The bed was fantastic.
Taka was very helpful regarding transportation and shipping of bags to the airport when checking out.
Drying facilities for ski gear was superb and the Onsen clean and warm.
Thank you!

- The view from my room was beautiful.
- The staffs are all friendly and I got a lot of help from them.
- Jorge (10/5): -
- Riley (10/5): - We had a fantastic stay at Alpen Plaza. Taka especially was extremely helpful and accommodating, going out of his way to organize transportation for my partner and I to visit the snow monkey park.
Highly recommend for your stay in Togari. Very comfortable, cozy and traditional stay. Will be back!
- Si An (9/5): Cosy and convenient stay, good base for the ski resorts in the area. - Cozy accoms with all you need to be comfortable. Taka san and his team were all welcoming and helpful which helped us a lot on our trip. The included breakfast and dinner options were great as well and provided ease of mind as we didn't have to source our own food.
5mins on foot away from Togari Ski Resort and a short drive to Nozawa as well. Would be a good and affordable base if you drive! The pillows could be fluffier/more supportive!

- h (10/5): Fantastisch - Super fijn Medewerkers waren top
- Tomassino (10/5): -
- Thi Trang Ngan (9/5): Best part of my stay was the view, the breakfast and the hospitality. It is a small regional area but it was worthwhile -
- Nikolai (10/5): We didn’t expect much based on the affordable price of the accommodation but the stay exceeded all our expectations! - During our late February stay, while skiing near Nozawa Onsen, we found this charming hotel to be the highlight of our 9-day journey through Japan. The exceptional hospitality of the staff truly stood out—they were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond on several occasions. They graciously accommodated our request to switch from Japanese to European breakfasts and even resolved an unexpected car issue for us. We are deeply grateful for their kindness and dedication, which made our stay so memorable.
Taka is the best manager ever! Clean, quiet, 100% authentic. You can enjoy for free in-built onsen and rent (no costs) a traditional Japanese pajamas.

- Shannon (10/5): We felt like part of the family staying at Alpen Plaza - We had such a lovely time at Alpen Plaza. Alpen Plaza is family run and feels a bit like a home stay. With our boisterous four year old it was perfect and he loved the Play Room. The room was very spacious and the Onsen the perfect way to end a day of being on the slopes. Thanks for having us Taka and family.

- Sarah (10/5): Fantastic hotel , lovely staff and fantastic food! - This hotel was perfect! Absolutely fantastic local Japanese breakfast and dinner served beautifully. The location is great a short walk to the lift station.
Lifts passes can be purchased on site along with rentals etc meaning you can be on the slopes immediately.
The hotel has a lovely Onsen too!
We will be back ! Thank you for amazing service to the wonderful family and staff.

- Tanis (9/5): - Really lovely family, beautiful food.
- peaud (10/5): Amazing!!! - Everything. The manager was very nice and very helpful. Nothing
- Caroline (8/5): Basic but very clean accommodation with amazing hospitality and food in a picturesque town close to ski slopes. - The staff here went above and beyond to look after us all. Thank you so much.
The location is so close to the slopes and has the most amazing view. There is also a massive snow gear hire room and drying room downstairs.
The traditional breakfast was amazing! This property is older and not all the rooms have their own bathroom.
- Larry (9/5): - Very caring staff. Fantastic views and nice rooms
- Saina (8/5): -
- Cecilia (10/5): Overall we really enjoyed our stay. - We enjoyed the stay at this family owned hotel. Staff were incredibly attentive to our needs and very accommodating to other guests. We stayed here to ski at Nozawa Onsen and it was very close with a car (maybe 10-15 mins). It is also a 4 min walk to Togari Ski Resort and close to Liyama town so you can shop and explore around there too.
The food is lovely and traditional - we had breakfast and dinner half of the time we stayed, and there are a few restaurants around (walking distance). The dry room is large and very warm - clothes are pretty much guaranteed to dry overnight even on a snowy day. Nothing to call out, but just note that you will need to notify staff when you would like your room cleaned.
- Zhao (10/5): A very comfortable and cosy hotel, and very helping staff. The meal is exceptional. Will come back. - Very good breakfast and dinner served.
- Rose (9/5): Gorgeous stay in under-rated location! - Gorgeous accommodation in true Japanese style including tatame/futon sleeping arrangements. We were very comfortable and well looked after-Japanese breakfast was an experience in itself! Amazing views of the mountains and great location to the few local restaurants. Onsen on site was unexpected bonus! True highlight was the service though-Taka outdid himself with thoughtful assistance. That and the powder!!! The ladies onsen dressing room is beside the smoking room which meant you got smoked after you got clean…just borrow some traditional pyjamas and get glam in your room.
- Anthony (10/5): Fantastic - Best place I stayed during a three week trip all over Japan. Big family runs it and every detail is amazing. You’re treated like part of the family. The food is exceptional, it’s close to the slopes, the room is comfy, there’s an onsen on site. Just so good, everything. It was all good
- Catherine (10/5): Dinner Exceeded expectations and is totally value for money - Dinner was amazing
- kok leong (10/5): - Staff is super helpful and friendly
- Daniel (10/5): Our family had a fantastic stay at Togari. Awesome days riding on the hill finished with onsen back at the hotel. - Amazing hosts! Great location.
- Moe (10/5): Wow. A very hospitable hotel. - You cannot find more exceptional hosts. A family run hotel. They were very hospitable. The whole place was super clean. As breakfast and dinner were included in the price, they accommodated our special dietary needs without blinking an eye. We asked for an extra room when we arrived for our stay and they provided one at a very reasonable rate. When we were stranded at Nozowa Onsen(nearby town) one night, they came to pick us up. The food was exceptional. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. We preferred to have ensuites in the room but we had shared bathrooms and toilets that were super clean. This is however normal for this area of Japan. There is a basin in the room though. I do however understand that a small number of rooms have ensuites. Thank you Allen Plaza for your dedication to excellent guest services.
- Lawrence (10/5): A warm and beautifully maintained family-run Ryokan with delicious locally-sourced meals, a relaxing onsite onsen, postc - A true home away from home. This beautifully maintained, family-run Ryokan is the epitome of warmth and care, with a seamless blend of comfort and charm. Every detail feels thoughtfully curated, from the perfectly organized space to the exquisite meals that quickly became a highlight of our stay. Each dinner, particularly the Nabes crafted with locally farmed produce, was nothing short of delicious—a treat we eagerly anticipated daily.
The onsite onsen offered the perfect retreat after a day on the slopes, its tranquil waters a balm for the body and soul. And then there’s the lounge gallery—boasting breathtaking views of the mountains and sunrises so stunning they belong on a postcard.
Our routine became blissfully simple: ski, eat, sleep, onsen—and repeat as often as needed. It’s a solid 10/10 for us. Family-friendly and overflowing with genuine hospitality, it was an absolute delight for both us and the kids. Everything was perfect

- Donna (7/5): A cosy family inn that was comfortable and reasonably priced. Staff were helpful and friendly. - The location and proximity to snow fields and the price is good value. The Japanese breakfast provided was excellent. Facilities were starting to show their age.
- Sacha (10/5): Hidden Gem - Alpen Plaza review
Unforgettable experience. Gorgeous family run hotel in a great location. Think European ski lodge with a Japanese vibe. The rooms are spacious and immaculate. The sitting area has a huge window with outstanding views across the valley. Breakfast and dinner are included and are a sumptuous home cooked Japanese feast cooked by the matriarch of the house.
It has a cool traditional Onsen, just perfect for after a day of skiing.
Both sons speak excellent English and nothing is too much trouble for them to arrange.
I’m sure you’ll see little 5 yo Kai helping out the rest of the family or entertaining the guests!
The Togari Onsen ski field is 5 minutes walk away. They are extensive but with no crowds. No wait at all for any of the lifts.
Get to this accommodation and the ski field before the secret gets out.
I cannot praise it highly enough.
Lastly, I can’t understand their rating not being higher. I can only imagine that some might be looking for a more generic hotel experience rather than home cooked traditional meals and to be immersed in a Japanese Onsen experience. Nothing at all

- Marianne (9/5): - The food was healthy, delicious and plentiful! The rooms were warm and cozy. A small family run hotel, very clean with fresh and clean duvets. The price is a little high, but comparable to much of skiing hotels in japan.
- Raymond (10/5): Great place to stay for the value - This place was so amazingly friendly. Served very traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner meals, which was a very new thing to this American traveler. Ski resort was a 5 min walk from hotel. My sense of time was very slow but the hotel staff was so helpful by accommodating reminders for breakfast and dinner. Hotel view was very beautiful. I wish the drying room worked a bit better. I LOVED the individual little storage spots. But as far as drying out things, it is very slow. I snowboarded everyday while I stayed and every morning my clothing was still damp, not wet, but still damp and cold.
