Guest Reviews
- adhusny (8/5): Entrance of Bar Harbor - The hotel is located at the entrance to Bar Harbour, just a 5-minute drive from the centre. The rooms were at a reasonable price and clean, and the parking was ok. Anyway, I was so Happy because Bar Harbour is Lovely.
- Daniel (6/5): Loved the location. - Location to town and park. Beds were comfortable. Parking was very limited. No microwave in room. Housekeeping was slow to deliver towels. Took several requests.
- Wendy (4/5): - Close to ferry Very old and needs updating
- Wendy (1/5): We didn’t stay because they gave our room to someone else. - Just the free coffee available with French vanilla creamer When we checked in, we went up to our room on the second floor that only has steps. There was someone in the room. We had to go back down the steps with all of our stuff and go to the front desk. They then had to change us to a different hotel.
- Jerome (10/5): -
- Penny (5/5): - Keurig, nice TV, checkin clerk was very good, checkout clerk good Bathroom not clean, pillows horrible, difficult to describe how bad the pillows were. Carpet torn up, no microwave, very dingy
- Susan (5/5): It was a place for sleep, what we were able to get. - Breakfast was lousy. Rooms have paper thin walls. Other guests were hollering and screaming all night. Miserable experience. Staff was lovely. Room was crowded. Get rid of the desk. Need to have some sort of quiet time.
- Andrzej (8/5): -
- Irene (5/5): slept well except for some noise from upstairs room. would stay again. - room: bed was comfortable, staff was pleasant, breakfast was ok but nothing special, location was great for our needs. Carpet needs a cleaning it was gross, curtains need to be rehung they were crooked on top.
- Ambar (8/5): -
- Jennifer (7/5): -
- Renée-Claude (6/5): Paysage et atmosphère américaine - Le paysage trop de touristes
- Jack (10/5): -
- Melissa (5/5): - The location and complimentary breakfast. Our hot water in our sink was not working and did not work for the 2-day stay.
- Karin (5/5): -
- Clementine (10/5): Good - The room was larger than I thought. I thought I was getting a basic room but it was much nicer than expected. Very expensive. No taxi service to the downtown area, walked 2 miles before I could get taxi.
- Richard (7/5): -
- Alan (1/5): Terrible!!! The best way to not have these problems is not to rent at this location. - Not much. The location was good. Breakfast came from the refrigeration section of Costco. The first room they gave us had molded carpet and the stench of mold. The second room seemed Ok as far as the smell, but it was still a wreck. She said she didn't have the authority to refund what had been paid through Booking. It was late, and they said they were sold out and this was the only room left. So we decided to tough it out and stay. What a mistake! We had noticed in our earlier inspection that the lamp shades had been destroyed. (Photo 1 & 2). The air conditioner, which was used for heat didn't work. I found that a good smack, like a Jackie Gleason skit, would make it turn on. The smell from the air conditioner was concerning. It didn't smell like clean air, but like what you smell while emptying a vacuum. Upon additional inspection it looked like the filter behind the front panel had never been changed or cleaned. (Photos #6 & 7). The bathroom door felt like the bottom half was hollow and was starting to get dry rot. (Photo #5).The carpet had several holes in it. (Photos #2, 3 & 4). Between the wood boards in the bathroom floor it look like black mold was growing from under the boards. (Photo #1). The mattress on the bed was concave and if you turned over, you rolled back into the valley. After complaining the next morning we were moved to another room for the second night, which was acceptable, but your mother would have taken issue with the room. The cleaning staff identified with our complaint, but the GM didn't seem to care. We understand this is not a brand new hotel, but we weren't expecting it to be filthy. I am surprised Wyndham would allow this operator to carry the Wyndham flag.
- Gladys (7/5): - We could walk to Bus to go to town One of the rooms was shabby. The rooms were dark and there was no real lobby. The only place to sit outside of the room was directly outside the door to room. That was not a positive experience. There was no lobby to sit in.
- roger (5/5): -
- Katherine (4/5): - Location is great; very convenient. The price is ok for the area. You get what you pay for.
Staff were all very nice. While things seemed clean, the room had a very musty smell. Housekeeping tried to cover it with cleaning products. Maybe the filters needed to be changed on the old heat/AC system? The system was either on or off, constantly blowing air. Everything in the room felt very worn.
Breakfast selection was minimal and all prepackaged stuff (granola bars, danish, etc). We walked in and walked back out. Didn't bother getting anything.
- Robert (7/5): - Too expensive.
- Hans (8/5): - 2 nights oke Far away from citycenter
There is a shuttle every half hour
Last one leaves 9pm from the center
No taxi's
- Stewart (10/5): It was enjoyable. - Loved the location. We were able to walk all over Bar Harbor. The tv location. Preferred to be able to lay in bed to watch tv.
- Michael (4/5): -
- Southridgeshannon (8/5): You Get What You Pay For - So this was a very economical choice of accommodation in Bar Harbor so we weren’t expecting any frills. Add in the free breakfast and it’s a good deal for the price with a fabulous view. It’s directly across from the ferry to Nova Scotia and not far from Acadia.
My only two complaints are the sheets felt like paper, very low quality and hardly any of our outlets worked. Only one side of the bedside lamp plugs worked and there was an outlet by the door that had something still broken off inside. A little dangerous.
Just a side note for my fellow travelers that stay above other guests on top floor, please do not jump around like you’re wearing steel toe boots all hours of the day and night. This isn’t anything to do with the hotel and I’m not rating them for this. They can’t help when their guests are jerks. I’m not even sure how in such a small room you make it sound like you’re doing lime dancing for hours without a break. Be good neighbors to your fellow travelers. Just saying…
- Benito Varela (7/5): Good - NA NA
- Naguit (5/5): Average Hotel - Breakfast was less than average. When the items ran out (e.g., boiled eggs, sausage egg sandwich, etc.) weren't replenished although there were still lot of guests in the dining area and still early (8:00 am) in the morning.
- Paula (10/5): Staff was super friendly and the hotel was very clean! - Very clean Beautiful views and short drive to downtown
- Joanna (7/5): Clean. Easy check-in,free simple breakfast - Clean, comfortable bed High price for proximity to main village.
- Kathryn (10/5): - very clean and comfortable
- jessicag123456 (4/5): Nice but wouldn't be 1st pick - Location is nice, hotel room needs updated especially the bathroom. Room was a little smaller than a typical hotel room we had a king bed.
- Michael (4/5): - Super noisy rooms with single pane glass on a busy road. I suggest sleeping with ear plugs.
Would not stay here again, very expensive for what you get.
- David (10/5): - Clean with comfortable bed. Bathroom was spacious and had a safe, stubbled floor in the shower. Breakfast was provided and gave us a great start to the day. Parking was tight.
- Clark (9/5): - Location and nice cozy beds
- Victoria (6/5): - Property is very dated. Mold in bathroom.
- Kimberly (6/5): - Just very run down. Tears in the carpet.
Areas of the walls that needed painting. Bathroom was not super clean.
But the staff was lovely.
For a 1-night stay, it worked.
- Felecia (2/5): - Not worth the cost! Mold everywhere
- Linda (6/5): - The room was ok, comfy beds; however the parking was absolutely terrible! The parking lot was so full of cars we had to park in an unauthorized zone but staff told us it was ok would not get towed away. To pull out of the parking lot you need to roll your window down to listen for cars coming as the hotel is just after a curve so pulling out of parking lot is very unsafe because you can't see cars coming at 50 miles an hour around the curve.
- Barb (10/5): Would stay here again if I get to come back. - Close to town and the views. Great price.
- Sandra (8/5): - Excellent and friendly staff.
- Jamie (10/5): - Very clean and beautiful sunrise views. Walkable to downtown. Kind staff and good vibes all around
- Christina (8/5): - Staff was pleasant.
Had to drive for any activities.
- Douglas (10/5): - Room was clean, staff wonderful, great view.
- Nuttaporn (6/5): -
- johninlbm (2/5): This Place is gross - bottom of the barrel - Carpets were filthy, whole room stunk, several bugs were crawling on ceiling. Room was extremely worn out. Beyond washing carpets and spraying the whole building for pests... I would recommend either fixing up the whole place or lower customer expectations and price (it wasn't even as good as a typical Motel 6). It was just disgusting. At almost $300/night it was a complete rip off - I truly felt that I was being taken advantage of.
- Chhiring (2/5): - If you don’t have a car, don’t stay at this place.
- Alyssa Conroy (9/5): -
- Dave (4/5): - Place is too close to the road. Road noise through night. Not enough parking spacing for rooms. Had to park far from out room each night. Had a truck backed up to our door. At 4:00a.m. a car comes into lot. Someone gets out, starts truck and leaves. Truck most likely should not have been on site. Door is wood, not easy to open and close. Not vent in the bath. Could here people walking on the floor above.
- Katie (6/5): - Room was spacious and clean, fairly dated. On Eden street and the Bar Harbor Bus stop was across the street
- Cheryl (8/5): - Our room was very clean for our 2 night stay. It is a roadside hotel, but the noise during the night was minimal. Short driving distance to downtown Bar Harbor or to Acadia. Staff was professional and helpful.
- Randy (4/5): - very old property, clean but not very good amenities at all.
- Dirk (6/5): - Carpet needs updating not sure how clean. Room did have view of the water.
- Russell (10/5): - Needs a little painting
- Gilbert (7/5): -
- Robert (10/5): - ?
- Christina (8/5): - We got an upgrade to place across the street. It was very nice
- Earl Edward (6/5): - Coffee maker didn’t work
- Karen (8/5): - Convenient parking and close driving distance to shops & such. A fine place to stay for a quick dip in and out as you’re passing through.
- Janet (8/5): - Breakfast food was often not available and coffee machine was unbelievably slow and not enough room to sit
- Kyli (6/5): -
- Pam (6/5): - Our room wasn't serviced after our first night, not sure why. But after the 2nd night, they did so that was good. Thx!
- Wendee (7/5): Enjoyable - Close to bar harbor and Acadia The parking was impossible
- Moran (9/5): - The hotel was overbooked, and I was upgraded to a sister facility closer to town, which was a spa.And it was really beautiful The spa overcharged me. They gave me a bill with one rate. And my credit card was charged a separate rate and I will need to take care of the overcharge when I return home
- Benoit (8/5): - We were upgraded from the days inn. So nicer hotel and beautiful view
- Neil (2/5): - Property only had upstairs rooms - NO ELEVATOR - They assigned us an upstairs room. We are both over 70 years old and had to haul luggage up 2 flights of stairs.
The lack of an elevator was never mentioned in the advertising nor reservation process with Expedia. Major problem.
- Michelle (10/5): - The room is very spacious.
- Linda (10/5): - Very close to entrance to Acadia . Across from the ferry to Nova scotia.
- John (8/5): - Clean, quiet, and safe.
- Susan (7/5): Quiet well run - Staff great Old rooms need updating
- Julie (10/5): -
- Teresa (2/5): - We DID NOT STAY. A friend I was traveling with has asthma. The quality of the air was not good for her. The humidifier was moldy(in the back), the air conditioner was an old one that was barely putting out air. The room was damp and musty. The guy at front desk was WONDERFUL and even tried switching rooms—BUT the second room was the same.
- Michael (6/5): - Manager very helpful Tired. Needed an upgrade.
- Eileen (3/5): -
- Lynda (6/5): Convenient location but wouldn’t stay with them again. - Property was close to town and convenient to the park Room was damp and smelly. Bathroom needs an upgrade badly. Cleanliness in main room was mediocre.
- Catherine (4/5): - The view of the harbor was nice. Traffic outside the hotel was too much. Not worth the cost
- Pura (7/5): -
- Kathryn (6/5): - Seemed expensive for a very old property. Old mattresses that were lumpy and hard with only a metal frame - no box springs, no support. Room itself was clean but stairway and area around ice machine were dirty. Very difficult getting out of parking lot as the hotel is right on a turn on the main (very busy) road. Would not stay here again, even though the staff was lovely and helpful.
- SHERRYLL (2/5): - Run down, I would not stay here again.
- Rodney (10/5): Nice enjoyable trip - Great location We liked it
- Jesse (10/5): - Was a great stay and not too pricey. Room was clean and spacious. Not too far from downown, but there is free bus rides for the Common Green every half hour, and a stop right across from the entrance. Very quiet, even though we were on the first floor, and both levels were full.
- Joyce (10/5): - Great location. Helpful staff.
- Julie (6/5): - Easy check in but I had asked in advance for a room with a water view. Never got a response. Upon check in I was told the type of room I booked did not have a water view. Would’ve been nice to know that in advance… I would’ve changed to a king bed. We were putting the worst room on the property (very end, windows looked out over a column, bushes, and trash bins (10 feet in front of us). Beds were comfy but I wouldn’t stay there again based on the lack of communication.
- John (2/5): - I booked this hotel online an hour before arrival as we are just driving and stopping where we end for the day. Expedia’s site said two rooms available pictures stating ocean views with balcony and continental breakfast. Upon arrival the girl at the desk said no rooms available all booked. Then transferred our room to the Regency across the street first floor facing the parking lot had to keep shades drawn to stop headlights shining in all night. Breakfast was additional. Will never go to this Days Inn as they did the same too us a year ago. Expedia should do something about this problem if they are full it should state no rooms available.
- hui (8/5): - the room is small
- Mailin (8/5): - Had a good experience. Friendly staff and clean room. Close to downtown.
- DANIELA (10/5): - Loved the proximity to Acadia National Park visitor center. The amenities and staff were excellent and very helpful. What we did not like was the limited amount of parking spaces that, at night, were mostly occupied. Luckily, the staff was helpful in finding alternative ways of parking. Overall, an excellent experience. Recomand.
- Lauren (6/5): - Room was very humid, despite keeping the AC on and the window open. No fan in the bathroom so showers left the bathroom very humid and moist. Very tight quarters, even getting in the door was a squeeze.
- thomas j (4/5): - Very disappointed with staff. Breakfast was not as pictured. No real cooked food. Prepared packaged food, ran out of coffee cups, knives and other items. No one at the front desk most of the time. No egg or meat dishes, toast, waffles or pancakes like Best Western! We certainly will not recommend Days Inn to anyone. We will choose Best Western always! A partial refund should be given to guest since we had to go to a restaurant for a healthy substancial breakfast! Please respond!
- Anne (10/5): - We were actually sent from the Days Inn to the Holiday Inn across the street so they could accommodate our early check in and king bed requests. That was much appreciated!
- Carmen (10/5): Great location, beautiful view, nice rooms, and friendly staff. I would recommend - The location was beautiful and had a great view. The breakfast was good, always stocked, and had something for everyone in my family. The rooms were nice and clean. All the staff was very accommodating and I really appreciated that they allowed us print the park passes at the hotel. The proximity to the shopping center and the national park was great. If they cleaned the rooms every day, not every other day.
- Alan (5/5): Adequate budget friendly accommodations - Reason price for the area. Old, small rooms. Bit run down
- emoryluceb (2/5): Very Disappointed, Expected Better - An overpriced, older, shabby motel, on a busy street, with the worst cheap assortment of "breakfast" foods I've ever seen in any motel or hotel.
- Ramona (8/5): Would stay there again. - This is an older hotel but well maintained. We stayed 4 nights and our room was clean and comfortable. The location was great. Close to Bar Harbor but away from the traffic congestion. We looked out our front window at the bay.
- Elizabeth (5/5): - Staff was friendly. The room was very old. Looked like it had not been remodeled in many years . Over priced for shabby old motel.
- kaitlin (8/5): - Good location. Good value
- Simone (4/5): Overpriced and disappointing. - Location good for Acadia and bar harbour town Rooms are very old, dark and tired. Too much furniture crammed in and tiny bathrooms.
Ran out of cups, knives and most of the food offerings at breakfast.
- Carolyn (7/5): -
- Walter (10/5): - We were so happy with our stay. This property is only 10 minutes by car to Acadia National Park. It is also convenient to catching the free shuttle bus to and from downtown Bar Harbor (bus stop is right across the street). It is only a short, half-mile walk to the downtown area. So many great restaurants and shopping, and beautiful sights to see in Bar Harbor! The hotel breakfast was excellent. Lots of delicious and healthy choices to fuel up for hikes in nearby Acadia National Park. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and all the staff we interacted with were friendly, helpful, and professional.
- John (8/5): - Convenient to get to Town or National Park, on free bus route. walkable to town.
Property is getting long in the tooth.
