- Hope (9/5): -
- Jill (10/5): Quick stay but so comfortable. - Owner was so helpful. I wish I had more time there to talk more. The house was lovely and next time I will take more time to look at the art and furniture pieces. Nothing really. It was a great visit.
- Gaby (10/5): - Everything about it is exceptional! From the minute we arrived we were greeted by George, mind you we were in the middle of a snowstorm looking for shelter! George and his wife Jean were amazing and very kind people and sheltered us with a warm and cozy room. We love it here it felt like home.
- Scott (10/5): We will be going back to visit family and will certainly stay at Silvershell again. - Highly recommend staying in this inn. The hosts are over and above accommodating and personable. The house itself is breath taking with New England charm and architecture. George and Jean take service to a new level The only disappointment was the weather.
- mark (9/5): The Innkeepers, George and his lovely wife Jean, could not have been more hospitable. - Staying at a house built in 1799 was awesome! We only stayed one night and regretted that we didn't have more time there.
- Rodney (10/5): Incredible experience in a beautiful home with awesome hosts! - George and Jean are delightful. Their house is very cozy. It has the charm of an old New England home and all the amenities, if not more, than a newer home. The beds were great. The hosts take great pride in taking care of their guests, from the reception to departure. Breakfast is something special, prepare to be impressed with your made to order breakfast. They take care of every detail! We look forward to returning! We have nothing to complain about.
- Enghong (10/5): Exceptional personalized service in a quaint yet elegantly decorated inn. George and his wife were very hospitable. Made - All sea related decorations in our top attic floor room with 4 beds. Even towels were all turquoise. The hosts went to great lengths to take our breakfast order, details down to the type of bread and it was delicious. Steps were quite steep but it can’t be helped.
- Fabienne (10/5): -
- Jack (10/5): Stay at this beautiful inn! - Everything I already checked as excellent I liked a lot. This is a beautiful inn in a great location. The grounds are very spacious and in warmer weather would be a nice hike, or just to sit on the patio or in the beautiful sunroom with its spectacular plants would be wonderful. The hosts are very personable and gracious. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and to feel welcome. I'm glad we got to stay in the room we had, the Garden Room. I'm not sure I/we could have shared a bathroom with another room. Our room was very comfortable and nicely furnished
- Christina (10/5): We hope to definitely come back. We felt so welcomed, the house and property were absolutely beautiful. The hosts were s - The owners George and Jeanie were the most wonderful hosts ever. We truly felt at home. Everything was clean and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. My son said it was the best pancakes he’s ever had! We couldn’t find a negative
- Stefano (10/5): Il miglior soggiorno durante il nostro viaggio negli USA - Bellissima tipica casa americana del New England, arredata splendidamente. Colazioni superlative. Posto imperdibile, a nostro giudizio. Nulla
- Kenneth (10/5): - Friendly host/hostess with good recommendations for local food/entertainment
- Pavlo (10/5): - Great hosts, absolutely beautiful house with amazing garden.
- Jane (10/5): -
- Verena (9/5): Superb - The bed and breakfast was absolutely wonderful. The two owners took such excellent care of us, and we wanted for nothing. We were only there for one night, so unfortunately we didn't have time to explore the area.
- Thuy-khue (10/5): George and Jean have amazing attention to detail and hosted an unforgettable stay. Highly recommend!! - The home is so unique and is a perfect getaway.
- Kimberly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nurul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eric (10/5): A perfect location surrounded by truly amazing hosts making our stay simply magical - The property was simply an amazing piece of art. Everything was kept perfectly well maintained all around. But above all that, the hosts, George and Jean went well beyond what would be expected to make our stay truly perfect. The attention to details is compare to none. If you are interested in history, George will embark you on a journey you will never forget. George and Jean have a beautiful story I a sure they’ll always be willing to share with anyone interested. We truly enjoyed every moment of our 2 night stay with them and can’t recommend it enough to anyone. This was well beyond our best expectations and are looking forward to coming back and enjoying another stay with George and Jean again soon.
- Dunn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Itamar (10/5): Unique inn with wonderful hosts - Unique property, wonderful hosts and great breakfast. Thank you George and Jean, even though our stay was brief it was beautifully memorable!
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tao (10/5): This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. An old couple, very decent. - This time I am accompanying my children for an interview at a U.S. college. I will take my family on a trip next time.
- Mirjam (10/5): Extraodenary good. And I am looking forward to the next visit. - It was the coziest and most comfortable inn I have ever stayed at. And more, Jean and George, the two owers, made it a home away from home.- warmhearted and caring, with very interesting conversations. The breakfast was outstanding, as well. (Best pancakes ever). There was nothing we did not like.

- Susan (10/5): This is a perfect place to stay and area to explore and enjoy - I selected the Silver Shell Inn for a couple of days to getaway to have quiet time and to write my Christmas card at night. The Silver Shell Inn decor is exquisite. I stayed in the Garden Room and I felt like I was a princess in an England, while feeling so much at home at the same time. The room had a refrigerator, fresh water, full bath, and many options for seating including a desk for card writing. Jean was very accommodating the breakfast that she prepared and plated was delicious and exceeded expectations it should be in a cooking magazine (wish I took pictures). I am located 30 miles from Marion the area visited this area as a getaway to write my cards and explore Marion it is a quaint New England town. The property is beautiful it is about 2 miles into town, a nice safe walk, you can explore the area local eateries, and resturaunts. I was able to sit and enjoy the sunporch. The location is perfect if you are local or want to come to explore this wonderful area, it would be a great location to visit all the nearby attractions if you want to explore the area and surrounding areas driving to the Cape, or Boston. George and Jean are excellent host offering great suggestions for my stay. As you read you can see the Silver Shell Inn greatly exceeded my expectations, I was blessed to find this quaint location for my getaway and highly recommend it as a stay. Looking for reasons to go back to experience it during another season.
- Patricia (9/5): Superb - The owners were very friendly and personable. The house was stunning and very clean. Everything needed was present and accessible. A very nice breakfast of my choice was provided each morning and the food and service was excellent. There was nothing I didn't like. I would highly recommend this to anyone as a very nice, clean and welcoming place to stay
- Nicole (10/5): Heaven - absolutely loved it ! - The absolute BEST !! It was like a fairy tale - awesome breakfast , beautiful surroundings
Homemade delicous breakfast It was perfect
- Maryeliza (10/5): This is out 3rd stay and look forward to our next stay. - The hosts are welcoming and the inn is very comfortable and attractive. The breakfast is delicious too! No complaints.
- Janet (10/5): Perfection with the right touch of comfortable coziness. The owners were so wonderful and made our “wedding weekend” ext - It was clean & very charming. Loved all the personal details that welcomed you as you entered the door. Also, very quiet and restful. Absolutely nothing. It was impeccable and anyone who didn’t like it must not appreciate the full experience of staying at an actual inn run be real inn keepers.
- David (9/5): Staying with George and Jean was like being welcomed into the home of good old friends. - We can sum our experience up by saying that staying with George and Jean was like being welcomed into the home of old friends. Not a complaint, but at breakfast, even when done well, American bacon cannot compare to British bacon, but George appreciated that!
- Neil (10/5): A perfect place to stay with charming surroundings. - A beautiful location! Wonderful breakfast, George and Jean were wonderful hosts. Such a friendly family atmosphere, I wish we could have stayed longer. We both loved our stay, it was perfect for us. Marion is such a wonderful place to visit.
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfast
- Julie (10/5): Excellent; I wish I had more time. - So much charm , attention to detail , very clean and comfortable.
Delicious breakfast, warm welcoming hosts. I was in the large loft room ( would be great for families) but note the stairs are steep and if you are tall there are beams. Not a problem at all for me .
- Michael (10/5): Beautiful, peaceful and pleasant - The Silvershell Inn was a perfect place to overnight on our return from Martha’s Vineyard. The incredible decor, chock full of antiques, beautiful plants and family photos, was charming and beautiful. Jean and George were kind and funny, attentive and generous with their deep local knowledge. They clearly love Marion, and it was on their recommendation that we took some extra time to tour its historic town center. We highly recommend this stay!
- James (10/5): First time there won’t be our last - George& Jean where great hosts. They take pride in what they do.They where very information and they were very tentative to our needs. First class people and place. The back patio is unbelievably nice and relaxing
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - George and Jeannie are the most gracious accommodating hosts you could hope for. They were warm, helpful and caring. The property is beautiful, it has historic New England charm while still being immaculate and modern. Wonderful experience!!!
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were very kind and welcoming and the house and furnishings were just like from Homes and Country; very relaxing and comfortable and very clean! The breakfast included a delicious fruit salad, yogurt and granola and cooked breakfast which set us up for the day. The best air b & b we have stayed in the U.S. The location was also perfect for exploring the Cape area by car which was another bonus.
Thank you again George and Jean for a wonderful 4 night stay.. Nothing to add...just all good.
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional - Idyllic inn in a wonderful location. George and Jean were incredible hosts and the garden suite was beautiful. Very comfortable beds, delicious made to order breakfast, and the entire inn was picturesque and full of thoughtful details. Wish we could have stayed another night!
- Maja (10/5): Exceptional -
- Uwe (10/5): 10 of 10 all in all. Charming and brillant stay! - All excellent and brilliant maintained by fantastic hosts, Jean and George! Overwhelming decorated and equipped almost like a charming museum. Breakfast was excellent and served as individually selected and from finest quality. Interaction with the hosts and other guests were a delightful detail and well appreciated by us. Lovely garden and orchard around the historic house. Lots of restaurants in the near surrounding and a good location to explore the south east of Massachusetts. Stringent recommendation to be a guest in Jean`s and George`s house ! It is half a mile to the interstate. Trucks could be heard by people with the ears of a bobcat. Thats not a real critisism. Only a remark. We had fine and calm nights.
- Stephanie (10/5): I was treated like family. I’ll be back for sure! -
- Patricia (8/5): Very good - Location
- Ann (10/5): This Inn is a gem! - Beautifully furnished, spotless Inn with warm, engaging hosts, and delicious, home cooked breakfast. The antique furnishings and decor were in pristine condition, elegant and comfortable.
- Carol (7/5): The Inn is lovingly cared for by the very accommodating hosts. - Delicious and generous breakfast. It exceeded my expectations. I wish I had more time to spend and for the weather to have been better. I wasn't able to access the beautiful yard and patio.
- Brown (10/5): Absolutely wonderful! - The Colonial style of the house appealed to us and we were not disappointed. The rooms were beautifully furnished and decorated with family antiques and portraits. I fell in love with each room that I walked into and wished that I our stay was much longer than planned. We were given the Marion Family Suite which was on the third floor. It was more room than we needed, but we loved every inch of it. The owners exuded warmth and friendliness, and eagerly shared their family history with us. In the morning they served us a breakfast "made to order"consisting of an abundant serving of freshly cut fruit, followed by eggs to order, bacon or sausage, toast or muffins, a choice of juices, coffee or tea. All prepared by George and his lovely wife. We also love that it's near the water and located in the Historic town of Marion. This Inn is a true gem if you want to trully relax and maybe explore the area, and then return to the cozy comfort of Silvershell Inn and their lovely sunporch or outside patio. The only drawback were the stairs to the rooms. Happy that we can still handle stairs and as long as that isn't a problem, this Inn is a treasure trove of NewEngland history and charm.
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceptional - Charming
- Klaus (10/5): Felt like home - Individual Breakfast lovingly prepared by the host. This was so much different and BETTER than the average buffet in an average chain hotel

Old-school, personal hospitality.
- Jane (10/5): A wonderful experience with charming hosts. - Our family (2 adults, 2 teens, and and an 11 year-old) had a wonderful experience staying at Jean and George's beautiful and charming B&B. They offered us a variety of choices for breakfast. It was cooked and prepared very well and was beautifully served. The house was spotless, with lovely decorations and detail throughout, and our room and beds were comfortable. We stayed in the suite at the top of the house. Each kid had their own bed, plus we had a comfortable sofa, table, and chairs where we could relax. Jean and George were so friendly, kind and helpful and looked after us so well. We also enjoyed visiting Marion, walking on the beach, and eating dinner at Brew Fish (which was within walking distance and served excellent food). We enjoyed all of it. We only had time to stay for one night on this visit. Hopefully we will have more time the next time!
- Robert (8/5): Pleasant stay - Pleasant environment Breakfast

- Jun (10/5): I will never forget Gorge and Jeans, they are so nice, the breakfast prepared on early morning, kids loved so much! We w -
- Salvatore (10/5): Honeymoon at" Silvershell Inn" - Let me tell you about a beautiful found treasure. First was marrying my beautiful wife, second was meeting our hosts George and Jean on the same day. Proprietors of "Silvershell Inn": Built in 1799, it reflects the patriotic and historical spirit of Americana. All wrapped into a cozy and welcoming atmosphere of a Bed and Breakfast.
Being a history buff, I was amazed with the pristine shape of the 3 acre property. Truly lovely and breathtaking. The house is abounding with appropriate era antique furnishings. All were in impeccable shape and decorated very nicely. Our suite rooms were a colonial and French Lafayette room. As close as you can get to time traveling into the past. But without the era clothes and language. And with all the modern conveniences of home. What a wonderful experience.
Breakfast was exceptional, hot, delicious and served timely. Choices were pre ordered before arrival. George and Jean were very friendly, also very attentive to our needs. Felt like family. Above and beyond really great people. Very easy to talk with, and very informative. Gave us a pass to go to a beautiful private beach. Named Silvershell Beach. What a coincidence.
Marion is a beautiful, small town with friendly people. We also visited a local church for Sunday mass. With amazing worship songs and many musical ( Organ) instruments. The Pastor Eric was a very sincere and good Preacher. We felt at home visiting and fellowshipping with the members. We will be back to this quaint town, and staying longer at the Silvershell Inn. An amazing experience...
Salvatore &Terri Pergola I wish when I booked this one night honeymoon stay, that we booked several more nights. It was like staying with a family you like, and don't want to part with...
- Ronghui (10/5): A wonderful experience at Silvershell Inn - We stayed at the Silvershell for 4 days. I can honestly say it is a pleasant and special experience.
The home is clean, safe and comfortable with the bonus of free parking and excellent location. The garden behind the house is very impressive .You can tell how much care and attention George, the owner, has put into the place. George and Caroline are great to chat with and ask for recommendations. We really enjoy our stay here! Thank you for the raspberry ice cream and the warm talk we had. We would come back again and highly recommend this place. Hope the family all the best !

- Beth (9/5): Lovely old house decorated with the innkeepers extensive, impressive antique collection - Excellent breakfast which we were requested to select in advance, by telephone with the innkeeper, unusual but ensuring that we had just what we wanted. The room was quiet and we slept great; we were the only guests in the house that night. Jean and George were extremely friendly and conversational, a pleasure to meet them.
