- Raphael (9/5): -
- Robert (9/5): Easy stay, very cool artistic spaces, kind staff. - Beautiful, stylish and well-located Street noise a bit loud, but this is common in Oaxaca.
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Dayal (10/5): Fantastic 10/10! - Staff was very helpful and polite -- went above and beyond to ensure our stay was good. Location of the hotel was perfect as was walking distance to sites and restaurants. Room was exceptionally nice with our own private patio.
- Andreas (9/5): Wunderschönes B&B an zentraler Lage.
- Joe (9/5): Brilliant stay! Beautiful hotel with lovely staff and exceptional location - Great location, best breakfast we’ve had in Mexico, amazing staff, beautiful lobby/room, perfectly clean, nice and quiet.
- Ashley (10/5): - Stylish, comfortable hotel with delicious breakfast and friendly, helpful staff.
Rien
- Katy (9/5): Casa Carmen Reforma was a gorgeous, comfortable vacation abode, well located with lovely staff. - The location was terrific - we could walk everywhere. Architecturally and artistically, Casa Carmen was just beautiful; the son of the owner is a locally well-known artist and guests are privileged to live with the whimsical, dreamy art. The staff was exceptionally warm and responsive to needs. And the breakfasts were healthy and delicious; there was a menu with wonderful choices. The room was noisy with traffic and music on some nights, Saturday particularly. Dogs barked occasionally.
Rilassante, tutto molto curato, personale estremamente gentile e premuroso. La colazione fantastica.
- Federica (10/5): -
- Marina (9/5): -

- Terren Trott (10/5): - Amazing, kind and very helpful staff and beautiful property.
- Hazelynne (10/5): Charming boutique hotel - Located walking distance to all the main attractions without being too close to the busyness of the centre. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants, a supermarket and banks nearby.
The staff were very hospitable and the breakfast included was delicious. The room was spacious, clean and had a comfortable bed. Noise from the street can be loud for light sleepers but they give you ear plugs to drown it out.
- Young (10/5): Excellent stay - Excellent location, staff were very attentive and friendly and beautiful interiors You may want to bring ear plugs / loops as there can be some noise outside - but this is the fun (and point!) of Oaxaca
- Bettina (10/5): -

- Andrea (9/5): -
- JOSE (10/5): -
- Kathy (7/5): With the exception of the noise this is a fab place to stay in Oaxaca - The property was lovely, very stylish. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful We had a room on the street and it was extremely noisy
- Heidi (9/5): Perfect Oaxaca base - I cannot imagine a better base for my week long course in Oaxaca. Calle Reforma was the perfect location for me between the bustle of the city centre and the barrio of Jalatlaco where I was attending a course. Easily walkable and with so many wonderful places to visit closeby it's a great spot. My room was large, pristinely clean and comfortable and the staff went out of their way to look after me, including letting me have a quick, early breakfast on a couple of days when I need to get to class early. Gustavo and the team were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I'd return in a heart beat and highly recommend this beautiful oasis of calm.
- Shi (10/5): Amazing hotel with exceptional staff - Very attentive and kind staff. I really enjoyed the spacious and clean room .The free breakfast was a nice touch and they are able to bring it into the room, which was amazing. They always clean our place super well and replenish free bottles of water which is always appreciated after a long hot day. None
- Gerhard (10/5): Great location, comfortable rooms and friendly hepful staff - Great comfortable rooms, excellent value, nice breakfast and friendly staff Not really much not to like. We had an excellent stay. If I have to pick something to improve, perhaps the coffee cups on the room could be slightly larger from espresso cups so cream can be added
- Carissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (10/5): Excellent and private - Everything about this stay was perfect. I totally recommend for a calm retreat. The hotel is small so expect some level of noise.
- Lino (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yair (9/5): Superb -
- Jaclyn (10/5): Our first taste of Mexico—perfect - Great location with everything within walking distance, kind service, and modern decor – we loved our stay!
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): - Perfection! Great bed, beautiful space and so convenient. Lovely staff, yummy breakfast! Stay here!
- Virginia (8/5): Very good - Good location….
Small & perfect for our small travel group Steps to get to our room!!!
- Daisy (6/5): Lovely space/location, noisy room (at least the one I stayed in) and not great service. - Excellent location, beautiful rooms Extremely noisy room - right next to the street - dogs barking, trucks and construction sounds throughout the night, no offer made to address this, they said it was out of their control, which i understand but future customers should understand that as a deep sleeper, i truly could not sleep more than a few minutes at a time, for three nights in a row which was miserable. They also confirmed multiple times that someone could pick us up early in the morning to get to the hotel and the car didn't show up. When we asked them to call to check, the car was running 25 minutes late which might have made us miss the airplane.
- Alexandra (10/5): Great stay! - Great location. Really nice style/aesthetic. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast too! Pretty well insulated from noise from the street too (I'm very sensitive to noise at night and didn't have any trouble sleeping). Pillows were quite thin and not very comfortable.
- Silvia (10/5): Wonderful! Highly recommend - Beautiful house, decorated with stunning paintings and crafts. Location was great, and staff very kind and helpful. Since the hotel only have four rooms it’s very intimate and nice.
- Dirk (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guillaume (8/5): Great place , will come back - Great design with outdoor/indoor , breakfast , location Staff is good but they could get a real concierge maybe
- Andrew (10/5): Perfect Oaxaca Hotel - Gorgeous hotel, perfect location, friendly and helpful staff & yummy breakfast!
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alejandra (10/5): Lovely stay - Service, attention and quality in the room
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Very helpful staff
Delicious breakfast
Stylish amenities
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Great staff and very cool facility. The location was between the square and the entertainment district making it easy to go either direction.
- David (7/5): Stylish but with shortcomings - Clean modern room with nice terrace - walking distance to the city centre and other colourful neighbourhoods. Great breakfast - especially the grasshopper omelette. Very welcome Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker - No heating in the rooms. Other guests also mentioned how uncomfortably cold the rooms were (at least in December) in what are essentially concrete boxes (standard Oaxacan architecture) Couldn’t understand why there wasn’t an electric heater available if the air-con unit only cooled.
- Outdoor bathtub is a nice touch but took well over an hour to fill up
- You had to get dressed and go downstairs to order breakfast every day - would have been better to order the night before
- No lighting outside upstairs room to be able to lock and unlock door
- Was harassed every time I saw any staff to pay for the room from the moment I arrived. It was all they were interested in when they had my credit card details and you can’t leave the tiny hotel without anyone noticing. Didn’t feel any sense of care just wanting my money
- Kristen (10/5): Exceptional - Casa Carmen was perfection; from the stylish Mexican aesthetic, to the excellent service, to the delicious breakfast! The location was within walking distance of all the city sights we wanted to see. The bed was comfy and the room was spotless. I would definitely stay again. Street noise and barking dogs could be heard in the night, but ear plugs were provided, so it was no big deal.
- Morgan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Virginija (10/5): Great Gem in Oaxaca - We lived in a suite which was spacious and well equipped with basically everything we needed. We really loved the terrace and we enjoyed our breakfast there. It was great private island. We loved the bathtub in the terrace! Their bed is incredibly comfortable! The pillows too. The staff and services were amazing! We were so well taken care of! I also like their take on sustainability. It is a very boutique hotel, only 4 rooms and they do fantastic job to take care of guests the best they can. A few things just to keep in mind: there are very few outlets in the room, so for multiple devices plan the charging :)
Also there is a club outside and on Saturdays it goes until 2 AM. However hotel provides ear plugs to help the guests.
- Mirijam (9/5): Beautiful hotel, friendly staff and perfect breakfast - Perfect room, very friendly staff and perfect breakfast options. They really go the extra mile to make the stay most comfortable. If you arrive by car, this might be important:
The only thing I didn‘t like is that on booking it says they offer parking but they don‘t. They recommend parking places near the hotel but they are soooo pricy and we paid over 100€ for 2 nights parking. So this is the only downside when coming by car
- Yi (10/5): Exceptional - Staff and service just top notch. Great decor and comfortable room with artistic touch everywhere
- Colleen (10/5): We had a great stay. Great breakfast and location. - The location and the staff were fabulous. The mattress was a little hard.
- FERNANDO (8/5): - Casa Carmen is beatiful. The nido suite is nice
The only con I can say is that they should soundproof it because it's close to the street, early morning you can hear cars there is also a lot of dogs barking at night...
- Silvio (10/5): - This was our first time in Oaxaca and honestly the hotel exceeded our expectations, if you’re looking for a true boutique hotel experience, well this is it. From the attentive staff, to all the thoughtful amenities in our room. Our room was the Suite Amador and it was beautiful. If we ever go back to Oaxaca we’ll definitely be going back to this hotel.
- Gabriela (10/5): Hidden Gem in Oaxaca’s city center - We loved the personalized service provided by all the Staff, they were very attentive . The room was beautiful decorated and the breakfast just delicious. All was perfect
- Gaffney (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jaime (7/5): Beautiful boutique hotel - The rate offered for the transportation to the airport is outrageous. 3.5 times higher than a taxicab. Not quite a service to the guests, is it?
- Wing (10/5): Exceptional -
- Blake (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amy (10/5): Best boutique hotel in Oaxaca without a doubt! - Absolutely fabulous boutique hotel in Oaxaca. We stayed here for 5 nights on our honeymoon and couldn't have asked for a more perfect place. The hotel has only 4 rooms, two upstairs and two downstairs. The upstairs rooms are INCREDIBLE and both have a private patio with an outdoor bathtub. The breakfast is spectacular and served on the private patio. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! In fact, we'd come all the way back to Mexico just for this hotel! I honestly can't think of anything. Our stay was magificent.
- Alex (9/5): Top quality base from which to explore Oaxaca - With full time staff and only 4 rooms, we got a lot of excellent, prompt personal attention. The staff was exceedingly friendly and seeking to please. Breakfasts were outstanding too. Only downside was that we had rain during our visit, and the patio didn't drain well and had a large puddle.
- Thad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nathan (10/5): Amazing stay!!! - We loved our stay at Casa carmen reforma! Our room was "carmen" and it was amazing. Clean, nice, and felt so Chic! Having an outside bathtub on the patio was awesome. We use it a lot! We celebrated our anniversary there so it was super special. The staff made us feel at home. Especially Gustavo!! (Who we saw the most), but every employee was always helpful and nice. The breakfast was so good. We will definitely come back.! Nothing.
- Hugh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yorick (9/5): Relaxing and beautiful, but long people beware - The house is beautiful. It’s amazing. It looks like museum. Very architectural and with art. The room, bathroom and terrace were beautiful. Very tranquil and secluded. Very clean. Turndown service. Delicious breakfast.
The location is perfect. I thought it would be a walk to the center, but in actuality it’s in the center, but also close to other cool neighborhoods east and north. Couldn’t be better.
Some reviews mention street noise, but this didn’t bother us at all. Yes you can hear some cars driving on the road, but it’s not honking horns or like a highway. The outdoor terrace with the beautiful cactus was a very nice place to relax. Bed was advertised on booking as larger than 2 meters long and as extra large bed. That is important to me, and a reason to choose a property or not. But in actuality the bed was very short. I’m 1.93m and my feet were dangling fully outside of the bed. I had to sleep in a fetal position for five nights. The bed is the most important thing in a hotel. And I feel like this is false advertising, since they explicitly advertise the room with an extra long bed. My complaint about this wasn’t addressed at all during five nights. All communication stopped at that point.
There were so many closets, but so little closet space. They were very shallow, so we couldn’t store our bags in them and therefore our room was filled with our bags. Form over function.
Breakfast had to be ordered downstairs every day. There’s a phone in the room, but not a menu. This means you have to get up, shower, dress, go down and order. Then they’ll bring the breakfast up after 30 mins. It would be much more relaxing if you could order on a form the night before.
On Saturday there was a lot of loud noise from a party nearby. Other nights not.
Room was fairly small for the (steep) price. Nowhere near the advertised 51m2. The terrace was large though.
Because there is no bar, I was happy there is a stocked minibar. But at this room price they could have included that like many Mexican hotels do. The place has a kitchen and about five people just being there 24 hours a day doing nothing else but opening the door for you and serving breakfast. Why not let them bring drinks and snacks? It must be very boring for them as well to just hang around all day with no other purpose than to open the door when you ring the bell. (You can’t enter on your own). There are just four rooms with five staff members. This feels kind of awkward.
- German (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (10/5): Style + location + service - 10/10 all the way. Great neighborhood/location, perfect personnel, incredible room, delicious breakfast, amazing style, super cozy (only 4 rooms). Book it.
- Onyi (9/5): Superb -
