Guest Reviews
- Matthew (8/5): Beautiful place to stay if you have a larger family, or enjoying with extended family. - Location is great. It has some of the best snorkeling we have seen in Vanuatu. The place was clean and tidy and comfortable. It is very well maintained considering the elements of Vanuatu and difficulties obtaining parts and materials. It has a nice sized solar system to keep you powered up. The outdoor area near the ocean is lovely. Aklid was very lovely to talk to and she helped out when we asked. It doesn't take long to get to the accommodation. The pet parrot, Penny, was excellent entertainment for our kids and they loved to play with her. There were sufficient towels for swimming and showering and sufficient bedding. Overall this is a lovely place and I would definitely recommend it for large families wanting a place where kids can play, swim, relax and enjoy the island. Starlink internet is provided - Excellent for those who want or need to stay connected. I am not writing the below to complain, it is mainly to bring it to the attention of the owners for the benefit of tourists visiting our lovely country of Vanuatu.
No tea or coffee supplied. It was good that we know Vanuatu well due to us living here, so we always take our own. There was a small amount of sugar, and oil but no salt. For the price of the accommodation, it would be nice if there was tea, coffee and salt. Other accommodation that we have stayed at where you need to take your own supplies have provided some basic tea, coffee, sugar, salt, oil and sometimes basic herbs and spices. There is a roller blind on the main bedroom doorway instead of a door which doesn't make your room feel very private as it is right next to the living room and main door. There was only one spare roll of toilet paper in the building. When we went to ask for more toilet paper, Aklid and Tony had gone out. Luckily I saw some toilet paper just inside the storage room beside the managers house. The gas bottle for the BBQ was empty, thankfully at the house closest to the ocean there was a full gas bottle at the bbq there. We had to plunge the shower in the ensuite. The oven is very tricky to light and Tony knew that you had to hold the gas knob in for a long time. Tony sat and held the knob the first night for 20 minutes, and the second night I held it for 5? Perhaps Tony only had to hold it for 5 minutes on the first night, who knows. To improve I would suggest the following:
Provide at least tea, coffee and salt. (along with the existing oil and sugar)
Supply a cork screw for wine (luckily the single bedroom house had one we could use)
Ensure there is sufficient toilet paper for the stay.
Ensure the gas bottle for bbq has gas, with a spare.
Have a proper door on the main bedroom.
- Annette Garae (8/5): - It was serene and beauitiful.
Beautiful flowers around ans just the peace and quiet when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of town
- Katarina (10/5): Paradise - Very secluded place, but very beautiful.
The house was well equiped and has everything you need.
Make sure you bring food from main island, as there’s no shops on Aore.
Place was so peaceful and the water is beautiful. Snorkelling was amazing.
Aklid is amazing, she’s very caring and will
answer all your questions.
- Laura (10/5): We had a very relaxing time. Our host was very welcoming, kind and helpful. - The property was well maintained. The garden that encloses the outdoor area is beautiful and vast grass area beautifully manicured.
The kitchen is well equipped.
- Claudio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charles (5/5): Passable - House had 2 toilets, with hot warm and lighting. Fridge and stove were also available. The alfresco area for dinner was lovely.
Aklida the caretaker was very friendly.
She took us to the local market first before There was a mouse in the wall of the kitchen which scratched all night. There were multiple pre-existing holes in the wall for the mouse to come into the house.
When the holes were blocked the mouse chewed through the gas hose.
The 2nd bed (sofa bed) is located in the kitchen area. No blinds in the kitchen/2nd bedroom.
No blinds in the bathroom.
The location is extremely windy, limited access to the beach and water activities. It is also extremely remote, so unable to walk around.
Kayaks and bicycles were mentioned however bicycles were broken and it was too windy to kayak.
Prices for transport were not accurate as per email from the host.
Price for taxi from airport to the wharf via supermarket was 3000vt.
Price for boat one way 1500vt.
- Jane (8/5): our stay would have been amazing but unfortunately the weather was terrible so we couldn’t do much, would like to return - the bungalow grounds and position were excellent nothing
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional - This is the perfect place to stay. At first, I was a bit disappointed it wasn't closer to the resort so we could walk there for meals, but it took me only moments to realise how wrong I was and this place was a hidden gem! This gorgeous spot has the most beautiful beachfront with some incredible snorkelling. It was just bliss. Getting to the resort for some of our meals was still accessible and easy, as our hosts could drop us off and pick us up for a small fee. I am so glad I brought over some food from the main island; I wish I had packed more because there were great cooking facilities! If you are bringing kids, make sure you bring some card games, soccer balls and other little things because you won't want to leave!
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic experience in a beautiful location
What a beautiful place to unwind. It felt like we had our own private waterfront where we could swim or snorkel while exploring the stunning coral reef. I couldn't believe how crystal clear the water was and what a perfect temperature it was. If we weren't in the water there was a lovely sheltered deck where we could sit and have drinks or eat while looking at the beautiful water views. Alternatively we could explore the gorgeous rain forests on the island without having to worry about snakes like we do in Australia. Our hosts were so friendly and accommodating. Lovely people who made us feel so welcome. We loved the bungalow we stayed in. We can't wait to come back although we will have to wait a few months as they are booked out for a bit. NIL
- Em (7/5): Great to unwind - The place is beautiful, well taken care of and very clean. Remote, nothing around at walking distance. Poor 3G coverage.
