- Linda (10/5): Great hotel - Everything All good
- Teid (6/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): - Nice evening meal Everything ok
- JERRY (9/5): Well located, nice room and good breakfast - Well located, friendly staff, nice clean room and great breakfast Bar was more of a restaurant than a bar.
- Graham (8/5): Great for an overnight - Breakfast was excellent
- Frances (8/5): Overnight stay en route north. - Position.
Cleanliness
Food
- Jim Simpson (9/5): Bang per buck in Moffat - We had a two room suite!
Huge space. N/A
- Martha (10/5): Excellent stay - Room was more like an apartment than just a room with separate access so not close to other rooms
Comfy armchairs, coffee table, fridge and lots of little extras like a bowl of chocolates, rea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, bottled water and proper milk.
Bathroom and shower were huge. Nothing we didn't like.
- Peter (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Walter (9/5): -
- Edward (10/5): I had a great stay, and would thoroughly recommend this hotel - Everything, from a smashing evening meal, a really nice and comfortable single room, a small fridge in room with fresh milk, soft drink and bottled water,,even a little dish of chocolates, and good beer in the Bar, plus a proper breakfast. Nothing it was really good
- Andrew (8/5): Great. - Arrival, quickly got the key and moved in. Nice, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere.
First stayed here 70 years ago, when Betty and Joe Mulvey had the place. Maybe my Dad was in the army with Joe. Has changed a bit. The toilet did not flush properly. Eventually found a bucket to add extra water to clear 'difficult' waste!
- diane (10/5): Absolutely excellent -
- Maggie (9/5): Lovely comfortable hotel - Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely quiet cottage at the back. Comfortable bed. Very spacious. Lovely breakfast. Problem with water pressure when we arrived but we were moved to a different room which solved the problem.
- Michael (9/5): -
- Stuart (7/5): Great hotel, great location, great food. If you want value for money, this place has got it. - Great location, right in the centre of the town. From the outside, it looks great, very appealing.
There is clearly a lot of history here, this has been an inn for centuries.
The room I had was spotlessly clean, more than adequate for my needs.
The bed was comfortable, I slept right through to my alarm, rare when I’m in unfamiliar surroundings.
The mini fridge, with jug of milk was a great touch, as was the pot of chocolates.
The food was plentiful and delicious, proper servings, hearty food, I was very impressed. The stairway to the rooms looked dated and worn, the carpet and paintwork looked tired and grubby..
The bar got noisy, there were four people, clearly inebriated, who were swearing, which isn’t what you expect when trying to eat your meal.
- Ian Michael (8/5): would stay there again - tasty dinner and breakfast
- Peter (8/5): - We had 2, which had a separate sitting room & bedroom, so more of a suite. Lots of space to spread out🙂. We also enjoyed the free parking right outside the front door. Nothing.
- Jonathan (10/5): Excellent value with good facilities - Clean and tidy the rooms had been refreshed and were adequate for my needs. Fridge in room with fresh milk and tea a coffee was a nice touch. Food was good and very reasonably priced.
This hotel offers excellent value for money and I would definitely recommend.
- mark (10/5): - Lovely people, lovely food
- Christopher (9/5): - Great location, excellent food, and allowed us to park our bikes in the beer garden. Nothing.

Good breakfast. Overall we were very impressed.
- Alun (8/5): Weekend in Moffatt - Good location and friendly staff. Good food including bar meals with great specials and an excellent cooked breakfast A little bit of street noise but only to be expected in the middle of town so only a minor point.
- John (10/5): The staff and facilities were second to none and the price was very reasonable - I stayed at the Balmoral as part of a Scottish coast to Coast bike ride. From the moment I booked, to my enquiries for storage for my bike,to my arrival and departure. The staff and facilities were exceptional. As I bike rider,I'm a bit precious as to the safety of my bike and it was very satisfying to see that my more of transport was looked after, well
My room was smallish, but had everything and more
The breakfast was epic, just what I needed for a long day in the saddle
A great stay and will definitely be back Nothing. My stay went without problem

You always get to meet the locals and you always feel welcome here. Food in local restaurant is always reasonably priced and piping hot; service is quick and they do an early breakfast too! The shower did deliver hot water, but not a great amount - I did manage though.
