- Lisa (10/5): - We stayed in the Brambles, Back Porch. Such a beautiful property in the Redwoods. The units are so clean and nice they appear to be very new. Dinner at Wickson's was wonderful our first night. The second night we ordered a pizza from there and took it back and ate at a table outside among the trees. Yogurts, juice, apples, granola in the kitchen for breakfast and snacks.
- Andrew (10/5): Magical, Romantic Garden Retreat in Wine Country - My girlfriend and I had an absolutely magical stay in the "Kitchen" room (stylishly converted from the owners' spacious home years ago to double the number of rooms available at this incredible boutique property). The Madrones is a perfect getaway destination, with truly special rose gardens, sitting areas, a delicious gourmet onsite restaurant (Wickson), two lovely onsite wine tasting rooms (Long Meadow Ranch and Wentworth Vineyards), a deluxe dispensary (The Bohemian Chemist) with a spacious adjoining Consumption Lounge patio (including cornhole!), a large, expertly curated, super-cool gift shop, and a pervasive healing-decompression vibe throughout the property. Plus, the owners and entire staff are the sort of interesting, big-hearted folks that team to create an over-the-top YESSS experience! & it's also close to the restaurants and other amenities in the cute towns of Boonville and Philo, as well as the beautiful Hendy Woods State Park for redwoods hiking etc, and next door to the AMAZING Goldeneye pinots winery -- + not far at all from the Roederer Estate for upscale bubbly times. Five thumbs up, WAY up!

Simply perfect for exploring Anderson Valley and state parks nearby. I wish that heating worked as night were pretty cold, but we managed refreshing mornings.

The patio and room have a marvelous view of the redwoods and small meadow. The Wickson granola and baked goods were delicious and we appreciated having fresh fruit daily. - Karen (10/5): - This place is magical. While the main building (with an excellent restaurant) is stately and unique, we stayed at The Brambles in a redwood grove. Being from Santa Cruz, weâre used to redwoods, but these treesâespecially the Pachydermâare amazing. The combination of Steam Punk and farmhouse decor is whimsical and delightful. The Front Door rooms are spacious and lovely. Our only tiny suggestion is that the shower heads are cleaned of hard water build up frequently. The shower flow came down like needles until we scraped some of the deposits off. Other than thatâ6 stars. Weâll be back!

If only the restaurant was open more since there was limited availability throughout the town for dinner. The garden area was wonderful and a great place to enjoy an early morning coffee.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Love place in great location - Lovely place in the heart of Anderson Valley. We were there over a holiday, and all our interactions with staff were by text. They said housekeeping and other staff would be returning the day after the holiday, but they never did. Theyâd left enough towels, but we ran out of coffee and didnât have any other housekeeping, which would be fine if weâd had a heads up. But itâs also quite expensive for what ultimately felt like a home rental.

The building, the rose garden, the tasting rooms, restaurant, the guest rooms, and furniture were all beautiful. The bedding and sheets were so cozy. The yogurt, muffins, and amentity setup were perfect. The bathroom was a great size with a really big tub and good lighting along with wonderful EO toiletries. My complaint is that the bed and pillows were some of the least comfortable that Iâve ever slept on, so those need some updating. Stay here and head to the garden with a book and wonderful picnic and you wonât regret it.

- Stephanie (10/5): An Amazing Place to Stay! - Our trip to Anderson Valley was brought to a whole other level when we arrived at The Brambles. The design, nature and people make this place stand out from any other place we have traveled to. Our little cabin was amongst redwoods, the space was perfectly designed, cozy, clean and stocked with goodies to eat for breakfast. The Anderson Valley is an amazing place to travel to for the experience of wine country but also for the redwoods, valleys, and just picturesque landscape everywhere you go. We will only ever stay here on future visits, highly recommend!

- Verified traveler (4/5): - We had a mixup in our reservations - somehow the wrong month was reserved for our stay. It was IMPOSSIBLE to communicate with the staff at Madeones. They donât publish a phone number, nor email. They did text me at one point but responded only once to me and that took two days. Even Expedia could not get in touch with them. Looks like a nice place, but totally lacking in rudimentary customer service.
- Jason (10/5): The best place to stay in the Anderson Valley! - Our stay at the Madrones was outstanding in every regard! It was recommended to us by some local residents as the nicest property in the Anderson Valley, and I can see why they felt this way. The grounds are well-maintained and the guest quarters are part of a larger entertainment and retail complex with shops and wine tasting rooms. It is very convenient to the other sites in the Anderson Valley, including wineries and state parks. The room itself was spacious, clean, with excellent amenities, such as high thread-count linens, premium toiletries, and light refreshments provided in the suite. The staff was very proactive about communicating with us ahead of the stay to make sure all arrangements were convenient and to our liking. It was really excellent customer service. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area!
- Roderick (4/5): Good property; not so good experience. - Booked this place to break up my return trip to San Francisco from the redwoods. Said it had dining there. Arrived at 5 pm to find a locked office and sign saying, âback in a few minutesâ. Another guest and I shivered outside for 10 minutes before the clerk came back. She confronted there was a restaurant on premises but offered no further Information. Luckily I checked the information sheet in the room, which showed only an independent pizza restaurant on the premises, with a listed closing time less than half an hour away, at 6 PM. I called the restaurant âs number and found out theyâre technically open till eight, but often run out of food. what? Given that the next nearest restaurant is 8 miles away, I changed my dining plans and went early. Good restaurant, good people, no problem there, but if I had waited til a normal dining time Iâd have gone hungry. Room was clean and spacious; no problem there. But the toilet backed up at bedtime, and calling the hotel number just got a message saying the office is only open from 10-6. If I needed anything I should text. I waited til morning not knowing whether I might wake someone up with a late text. Needed to use toilet in morning and texted, by the time I left more than an hour later, no one had shown up. Bottom line: nice property; poor service and poor communication.
- Peter (10/5): - We stayed in Faller's Cabin, a historic building a short distance from the main resort. It was quiet, rustic, and beautifully decorated.
- Wendy (10/5): - We arrived late, but the inkeepers texted us with "Self-Check-In" procedures. We loved the "Fallers" cabin! It was the perfect amount of space, and the furnishings were top notch! I read other reviews about traffic noise, and there was a little, but nothing that bad. The cabin is close to the road, but perhaps because it was autumn, there was less traffic. A huge advantage over traditional hotel rooms, was the fact that the HVAC system was overhead, and very quiet. It was operated via a remote, and warmed up the space quickly.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Enchanting - Fabulous fabulous room. Family trip Seattle to San Fran & found this gem on the way to Napa. Arrived late - it was dark except for this enchanting Spanish villa lit up with strung patio bulbs. Wonderful approach. Had worked out a self check in & it went off without a hitch. We were blow away by the room with the vaulted ceiling and iron work on the French doors which overlooked the vineyard. Coffee, fruit, muffins & juice were stocked to get us started in the morning. It was divine!

The area was so relaxing and our accommodations were above and beyond our expectations. Would stay there (longer next time) again without hesitation. Theyâve got it going!
- mizrenz (8/5): THE MADRONES - The Modrones is a lovely boutique hotel located in the heart of the Andersen Valley. It is surrounded by vineyards and some of the most bucolic scenery. The hotel entrance is quietly tucked away and can be missed if you don't look for signs. They have several wineries on the property and a restaurant. Based on the price I was expecting a bite more luxurious rooms but I wasn't disappointed either. I'd definitely would consider coming back but staying in another room.

It was beautiful and clean and in a great location for wine tasting.The beds and pillows were SO comfortable! We enjoyed the tasting rooms they have on site and the restaurant Stone & Embers was AMAZING! We loved their garden area where we were able to sit and eat our snacks and drink our bubbly in the sun... and their complimentary breakfast snacks waiting for us in our room refrigerator were a really nice treat! Will definitely stay again.
