• Tina (9/5): It was convenient. The price was a little steep. - The attendant at the front desk rearranged our rooms so that we could be near our daughter. The restaurant was good. The rooms were clean and well decorated, not too worn. The price.
• Natalia (7/5): Good hotel, though with a few minor issues - The staff was very helpful and professional - there was a small issue with my room, as apparently using one of the plug sockets tripped the breakers and they fixed the issue quickly (I'd been offered a new room if it wasn't fixable). The room was generally comfortable and sizable, and with good amenities (I appreciated a decent selction of tea/coffee). It has a decent sized desk, which is useful for work travel. Mind you, the hotel is outside of the city, but it provides pretty much the only close accomodation choice for visiting Heriot Watt University (and the area is quite nice for walks and has decent connections to the city if needed). The hotel restaurant is quite uneven - while some positions on the menu are quite alright, I think I've had one of the most disappointing salads there (and it is the only catering choice within walking distance pretty much, given the location, aside from the Student Union pub). As much as I appreciate the helpful staff, the fact that the electrical outlet tripped the breakers is an issue that should be fixed. I also question the choice of glass doors to the bathroom - both because it may not be ideal if you're sharing the room, but also because the door was quite annoying to operate, with hinges making very loud cracking sounds.

• Maximillian (10/5): Clean and Excellent Facilities - The facilites was extremely well kept and clean. On site parking made it easy to travek to and from the city center. Bus stoo also very close by. The breakfast was always so simple and very good for the price. The gym is definitely amazing.

• M.M. (8/5): Fijne accommodatie, maar wel verder weg van centrum - Mooi, schoon hotel met ruime kamer en een uitstekend ontbijt. Er was weliswaar een bushalte dichtbij maar het centrum was best ver weg nog (30 min rijden). Ik dacht ook dat er een busverbinding was van en naar de luchthaven. Maar je moest eerst naar het centrum met de bus en dan overstappen op bus of tram. Al met al een reis van bijna 2 uur. Dus de bereikbaarheid van het hotel viel tegen.

• AmandaP73 (8/5): Lovely hotel - just one flaw…. - Lovely hotel set in the scenic grounds of Herriot Watt university with plenty of parking spaces. Nice and peaceful as well away from the city but with excellent transport links (bus stop outside of the hotel with buses to and from Edinburgh centre every 15 minutes). Staff were friendly, attentive and keen to help. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced, with a good selection at breakfast time. Rooms were stylish and very clean. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was modern and the air con was very effective. Why then didn’t I rate it 5 out of 5? Two words… bathroom door!!! I’m not sure who thought that frosted glass, with a 2cm gap, would be a good idea for a door to a room where privacy is essential. To make matters worse, the location of the mirror in the bedroom made it possible to see into the bathroom (I was in a twin room with a friend and made a point of sitting at the far end of the room, by the window, to afford her more privacy). As for using the loo for more than a pee… that just wasn’t going to happen! I noticed that the loos in the hotel foyer were very popular though… This hotel would easily score 5/5 if the bathroom doors were changed…. I hope the management bear that in mind if they’re planning a refurb.

Der Teppich im Zimmer war voll mit rote Flecken! Fleck von Rotwein, Fruchtsaft oder ähnliches! It is away from town but there is a bus stop a couple of minutes walk away with a bus about every 20 min. We had delicious fish and chips of a generous portion. Other items on the dinner menu were pricey for the quality. It seemed to me that they could have been pre-pared meals, from a bulk supplier, warmed up in the kitchen at restaurant prices. That made it feel like I couldn't give a good score on value for money.

Set on the campus of Heriot Watt university it might be convenient for coach tours and travelling groups but don’t expect to be fed well. The food is absolutely atrocious and overpriced.

• MF018 (2/5): Does not meet Marriott standards. Avoid - When we arrived our room was dirty, toilet dirt, seems someone have used the toilet. Also found pieces of nail cliped on the chair. I am platinum member and usually I get free breakfast and amenities. Nothing here. We were told that we got to pay an extra 2,5 pounds per person for breakfast. At the checkout they charge 25 pounds - was very convenient for the manager saying that the person that gave me this information was out. Typical scam. Marriott needs to audit these low level franchise.

• gillian (9/5): Fabulous hotel great family stay - Fabulous hotel, staff friendly and very comfortable stay. Very easy to catch a number 25 bus into Edinburgh city. Our family room was great size and had the bonus of a bath and separate shower too. Only thing i would say is the pillows were big and didn't find them very comfortable but bed was fab.

However, bus no. 25 and 35 direct to Edinburgh waverly centre, bus stop was 1 minute away by walk. Limited breakfast options. Same breakfast everyday. I stayed for 3 nights. The last breakfast was not good, fried eggs were not hot. I asked for Nutella the grumpy lady said we are out of stock. Mind sharing the Nutella was there the previous days. How come a brand name like Marriott could run out of Nutella??!! Strange. Limited vegetarian food options
• Antonio Luengo Bravo (8/5): Lluny però comfortable - Les instal·lacions i servei estaven molt bé. És agradable i bonic. L'esmorzar era molt bo i molt complet. És car. No té serveis com gimnàs, piscina o sauna. És lluny del centre. El que t'estalvies d'una banda, t'ho gastes en taxi. Això sí, hi ha l'opció d'agafar un autobús allà mateix que triga uns 45 minuts a arribar al centre de la ciutat.

No había ventilación en la habitación y baño y encima con moqueta, había que abrir la puerta de entrada pero claro sin nada de corriente porque no había ventanas.Pusimos la TV y sólo tenían seleccionado el idioma inglés,no te daban la opción de poder cambiar a otro idioma.

• Paul (1/5): Avoid this hotel - NOTHING Leak in the ceiling dripping water all night on Saturday morning I was to the reception and let them now by making even a picture of it! All I received was " thanks for letting me know " NOTHING We ask on Saturday morning for the room to be clean , changing of the sheets, changing of towels and a refill of tea and coffee unfortunately we didn't get any of this so I guess the Room Service is not available for work on weekends Not mentioning that we end up to a local shop to buy toilet paper Thanks PS : Dear Marriot I think you need to buy some toilet brush aswell ! I don't know about the rest of the rooms toilets if they had one but my ( room 426 ) definitely didn't have one

• Alan (10/5): Nice hotel, clean and comfortable bed - Comfortable bed, spacious room, clean, only downside the toilet area, not sure why they design the walls with so much glass, yes it’s opaque but my family all commented they were uncomfortable using the facilities 😟 Restaurant is more than adequate and staff are very helpful, all in all we still stay there, parking is free with so much spaces, well done the Courtyard 👏👏👏 The Shower room, to much glass walls, the water pressure in the shower could stronger
