Guest Reviews
- Tenzin (10/5): - Really enjoyed our stay at Whitewater Lodge, the service was amazing and rooms were clean. Would definitely come back for a stay.
- Nadejda (10/5): - Beautiful place to stay! Great staff and great cozy vibes.
- Mindy (10/5): - Nice view from the hot tub
Good breakfast
Friendly staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant Stay - Very cute, clean B&B with the friendliest staff members! No frills but quite comfortable, would recommend.
- Ian (10/5): - Property was exceptionally clean and all the staff were excellent. The only con was lack of closet space.
- Michael (10/5): - It was so clean and quaint. It had a beautiful yard with a hot tub overlooking the valley. They breakfast was so good and homemade. I will be going back!
- Caitlin (8/5): - Cute , cozy place , nice property - free breakfast which was good. No TVs in the rooms was the only downfall I’d say
- Susan (10/5): - Great breakfast buffet. The host made us a takeaway breakfast for the second day as we left very early.
- Robert (10/5): - Great location nice and quiet area. Awesome breakfast included. Helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely cozy cabin, with outdoor hot tub, very clean and perfect to rest after a hike day.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean, modern lodge. Friendly staff. The only downside are the very thin walls. You can hear your next door guest’s voice clearly, and bathroom noises.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It was a shocking experience; too many surprises. ! Ok, I will
Give the good items first. Fast check in, very nice girl at the front desk, who was very thorough and helpful. The lodge and our room were spotless, which is awesome during Covid 19, thank you for that.
I m not sure if the things now that i will complain about are a result of Covid 19 , so forgive me in advance. Heres the list :
No microwave in room or lounge ( common area ), No T.V. In the room, No food or drink allowed in room ; what if someone has to take medication during the night ! Seriously, not even a bottle of water allowed ! Last but most important, we went out to the car to get an item @ about 9 30 p.m., and the parking lot is blacker than the ace of spades ! Couldnt see a damn thing . How about some wild animal wondering around , you wont know what hit you ; more important, how about a female guest staying there on her own.! ! At least some kind of motion detector light mounted on a post . Sorry for this, but i really felt compelled to say a few things.
- April (10/5): Thumbs up 👍 👍 - Excellent place to stay but very much a lodge- perhaps more suited to guests coming for actual adventure and were up for socializing in the common areas- which is not a bad thing. We are not the target guest as we were briefly in and out over one night but we would probably stay again anyway. The room and lodge were beautiful, comfortable, and extremely clean. Staff very friendly over the phone and the bagged breakfast a nice touch.
- Cameron (6/5): Okay stay - The lodge grounds, condition of the lodge and cleanliness is very good. The rooms are small and minimalism is practiced which is okay. The rules of Covid took away some pleasure but that is not the owners fault. They did what they could for a brown bag breakfast however the muffin was not good at all. The out of the way cafe we went to for the complimentary coffee was ok. The coffee was great but seating etc was not so good. I'd be willing to give this establishment another try after Covid. It has potential.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Pro: Very clean. Appeared to be recently renovated and painted. Had a Common room with sitting area, tv, books, games.
Cons: no fridge, tv, safe, nor temperature control in room. No access to coffee nor ice. Breakfast included was a bagged Meal including an undercooked muffin, juice, granola bar, yogurt and orange. Bag did not include any utensils nor napkins. No local hot drinks but the breakfast bag had a coupon for coffee at a cafe 3.5 km away.
Hot tub closed due to COVID 19.
- Lynne (8/5): - The Lodge was in a very quiet area with 1 minute access to the trans Canada highway. The room was spotless no tv or USB charging points or coffee making facilities. Breakfast in the morning was a nice touch . White water rafting groups left from here upto the river area.
- Kim (10/5): - Beautiful property and very clean. The views were magnificent and the common room was well equipped. We will definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises.
- Sars (10/5): - This place was so cozy, peaceful and lovely.
Our stay was much to short.
The garden was wonderful, we were sad the hot tub wasn't open but can understand it was because of covid.
Our breakfast was also great and the coupon for a free coffee was a nice extra bonus.
Looking forward to visiting again in the future.
- Lynn (10/5): - I loved the setting, like a cabin in a park. Hot tub on the grounds. Simple rustic decor gives it a clean modern look. Immaculately clean. Loved that there were wood floors instead of stale smelling carpets. A wonderful comfortable common room with an amazing library and a tv. Breakfast was far superior than offered in most hotels. Would definitely recommend and return.
- Georges (10/5): - Well designed and decorated place with excellent breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Rooms were were very well kept, bed was extremely comfortable, staff were all very friendly and helpful, breakfast was excellent with both hot and cold options and fresh fruit. Hot tub overlooks the mountains! Nice common area with plenty of books and games. Whitewater rafting trips right from this lodge and close to Yoho and Glacier National Parks, 5 minutes to local restaurants. I highly recommend this property.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A lovely Lodge, decked out with beautiful attention to detail. It’s a historical building so very old and therefore sounds travels through the walls.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The best hotel that we stayed in the Canadian Rockies area. Everyone is so friendly and the place is absolutely adorable!!! It’s super clean and it’s the only place during my trip that I used the hotel towels (love the bleach smell). The breakfast is very delicious too. The only minor complaint is that the noise that the bathroom fan made was really loud and there wasn’t a separate switch, so it always turned on with the light. The room is rather small without TV or other fancy amenities, but they provide all those in the common area. But if that’s something that you care then this place is not for you.
- David (10/5): Golden stay - We loved this place. Breakfast was awesome. Based ourselves here to take daily trips.
- Allen (8/5): - Retirement vacation
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, quiet. Great opportunity to meet other people or keep to oneself. No air conditioning in the room but we were fortunate that the night cooled off. Amazing breakfast provided
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Whitewater Lodge was the coziest and friendliest place on our trip! Everything from the staff to the breakfast and the den room at the end of the hall were absolutely perfect. I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone!
- RShaun (6/5): - The place has been recently renovated and is lovely and clean. The young staff is friendly and welcoming. However, the rooms are very small and sparsely appointed. TV down the hall in the common lounge. I’d stay again, but would recommend to friends only with some caveats. We’ve been spoiled over the years I guess.
- Gary (8/5): - accomodation was good as well as the breakfast next morning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I wasn't sure about how I'd feel about sharing a common room with other people because I am shy and reserved. It actually ended up being my favourite part of the experience. I felt like I was at home.
- JimT (8/5): - The room was very small, and didn't have a TV. However, they had a nice common room with a TV, and books and games. The grounds are well-kept and attractive. A good breakfast, with hot food, was included. Very friendly staff. Checking in after 8 PM appears to be an issue.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really simple yet elegant decor. Common sitting area was really nice to enjoy a tea with a view as you visit with other interesting people.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It staff is vary friendly and helpful. For instance after you check in they take you to your room and point out what you need to know. Very clean and quiet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The adult aspect was nice, the rooms simply furnished, the lodge was immaculate and the breakfast spectacular! Thank you
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay whenever I am in Golden I will use the Whitewater Lodge again Very clean and nicely appointed.
P.W.
- Michael (4/5): Not so Golden - Initial impressions were good, but:
1. The walls are so thin that we were kept awake by the normal speaking of the folks in the next room.
2. The furnishings are minimal. There is no desk at which to write. A box of facial tissues would be a normal expectation that was not met.
- Trevor (10/5): Fantastic! - Fantastic Stay! Clean rooms, great staff, ideal location. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely Lodge - We had a lovely stay at Whitewater lodge. The lodge is beautifully furnished, beds are extremely comfortable, lovely linen. Breakfast was very generous with freshly made frittatas, bagels fruit etc.
The owners were away when we stayed but their father Ron was a wonderful generous host whose advice and genuine interest was greatly valued.
- JohnD (8/5): - Nice hot tub,good view
Room was very warm, breakfast was enjoyable
- Arlene (10/5): Perfect in every way - One of the most beautiful lodges I have stayed in - quality of the lodge was absolutely amazing. Furnishings and finishing touches made it feel like home. Breakfast was home made every day and cannot be faulted in any way. The room was comfortable and clean. Ron made sure everything and everyone was happy and gave help with ideas on what to do and where to go if you needed them. In the evening guests sat in the lounge, exchanged stories of their outings and relaxed chatting to each other. I would gladly return to this place again and again. Thanks to Ron and his staff for a wonderful stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Expensive for a sparse room. - Very clean but sparsely furnished room. No wardrobe or drawers on the bedside table. Car parking was spacious. Breakfast was good but we were told to get there between 8 and 8.15am which was a bit early in our opinion. We thought the hotel was expensive for what we got.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was great, the bed very comfortable, the property was fantastic. Breakfast was yummy. Only addition I would make would be to have a clock radio in the bedroom. Would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very cute bed and breakfast lodge. The garden is a piece of art. The whole place is super clean. Wish we could stay here for longer. The only thing to note is the bedroom door is not sound proofed at all. You can hear people talking in their rooms from the hallway.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Felt a bit more like a college dorm, wasn't necessarily bad or good but I did feel like the value wasn't there for what the rate was.
- John (8/5): Small but niece and friendly - When we drove up the place didn't look like much.....right off the highway before you get into Golden but when we went inside we were pleasantly surprised. Everything was new, the rooms were clean but spars...no tv, alarm clock or phone but who needs that stuff today with a smart phone. Internet was free and worked fine. Breakfast was included in the price and was served in the private part of the building. It was substantial and good. There was a hot tub out side but didn't use it. Only problem was the hot water temperature varied, so be careful. We would stay again.
- Daniel (10/5): Well appointed lodge - Really nicely done lodge in an old wildlife museum. Great breakfast included.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Gold in the Hills - The owners are the best. Rooms are perfect for the fourteen and up age group specified but are designed for the bare necessities. Group room made up for lack of space. Breakfast was very nice and the property handles the separation of the rafting groups from the lodge quite well.
- Ren (10/5): Whitewater Lodge - Very clean and quite lodge. Very good service. Excellent breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Ryan and Carmen were wonderful hosts. The homemade breakfast was so yummy! We felt right at home and wished we could have stayed longer. The property is well maintained and the decor is adorable. Very clean and updated. Next time we visit we will bring the family and do some rafting on the Kicking Horse river.
- Laddie (8/5): Nice lodge, but over overpriced for what you get - The lodge has a great rustic feel in particular the common room where there is a welcoming artificial log fire, free coffee, games and a library, all making for a nice evening of relaxation and chatting with other guests. The main criticisms we had were the rooms are very basic with no drawers and cupboards, nor a single coat hanger for clothes. In addition, the central heating was turned on despite the cold weather and the walls are paper thin where we could hear everything in the adjacent rooms, not to mention noise from early morning white water rafters assembling outside. Overall, the lodge is okay for an overnight stay.
