The Lensbury is currently undergoing an exciting improvement program which includes a renovation to our main restaurant and bar. During these works, and while these spaces are closed, disruption will be kept to a minimum, with breakfast and dinner served in our recently refurbished Dunbar Lounge during this time.Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. - Kathleen (7/5): Overall good however, bottled water in the rooms would and should be provided give the price of the - Breakfast was good due to renovations we ate in the members bar Booked in Feb/march indicating that the Friday reservation in the restaurant was for a birthday. I contacted the hotel a week before our stay to increase from 3 to 4 people, had a bit of an issue with changing this as reception advised me to speak to reservations which I tried to do but was ping ponged back to reception who advised me to call reservations after 09:30. I did this to then be hung up on by the gentleman on the phone! I called reception and spoke to William who was incredibly helpful and altered the reservation. I contacted the restaurant to inform them of a 4th guest for dinner and was told all was ok, to receive an email on the Wednesday that there were renovations taking place and that we would be dining in the members bar, which was fine until we saw it. It’s not what I booked or expected so we booked elsewhere, luckily we were able to do this at such short notice, and cancelled this reservation. To be told that in the evening the bar would be decorated and look very different was initially encouraging however, popping a lamp on the table did not meet with expectations for a birthday celebration. A little disappointed with the lack of communication from the hotel.

- Jennifer (10/5): - A beyond exceptional choice for breakfast, and very enjoyable. Also, the staff were very professional and helpful too, a real credit to the hotel. Also, the reception staff were excellent, particularly William and a young lady that kindly provided me with more coffee and milk for my room when I asked. Overall, the staff were amazing. My room was kept absolutely immaculate and cleaned so very well. Thank you. Finally, when I called the hotel to confirm my online booking and that my payment had been received, I spoke to a very helpful lady who politely confirmed this for me (I am note sure of her name but she had a Scottish accent); The pillows were very flat and not particularly comfortable at all.

We were also made to feel very welcome at the restaurant for her special dinner. Nothing much - the main thing is that there is a refurbishment taking place, but it did not impact us.

What stood out most was the staff - every single person we interacted with was welcoming, respectful, and genuinely enthusiastic about making our stay special. William (hope I got the name right) checked us in, and honestly, that first interaction set the tone for the entire visit. He was incredibly resourceful, thoughtful, and went above and beyond to help make the stay especially memorable for my wife and me. You could tell he truly cared about creating a great experience. The restaurant staff were equally fantastic - Saaed, Gabriel, and another lovely member of staff whose name I unfortunately can’t remember (Zu***? - she was so good with our baby!!)- all of them were warm, attentive, and brought such positive energy throughout our meals. Service felt personal without ever being overbearing. One area of the grounds was undergoing repairs during our visit, but the team communicated this well in advance and managed expectations professionally, which we really appreciated. The grounds themselves are excellent and have everything you could want for a relaxing stay - beautiful riverside surroundings, great leisure facilities, lovely walking areas, and an atmosphere that feels peaceful, vibrant, welcoming. The room we stayed in was a very good size. Beds comfortable. Overall, this is one of those places where the people genuinely make the experience unforgettable. - Marilyn (4/5): - Been before and had a great experience, but when we booked this time we had no idea about the extensive renovation work being carried out, until booking was confirmed and we couldn't cancel. The location is wonderful. Only members lounge open and for meals only, so no where to sit in the evening other than our bedroom. This had very poor lighting and 2 not working. Beds comfortable but very old and flat pillows and duvets. Only 2 plain tea bags....1 each.

- Whittle (10/5): All in all was a lovely place to stay and in a great location, would definitely recommend to others - The staff were very friendly and accomodating, due to a mix up with the booking system we ended up in a twin room rather than the booked double, they were quick and happy to rectify the mistake and gave us a new room. Also provided us with plates and cutlery for our food in our room which was very much appreciated. The grounds were lovely and well kept, was especially nice to walk down by the river and have a sit on the bench by the weir at sunset. I wouldnt say it is a dislike but I was a little disappointed/surprised that there was no room service available.
- Peter (4/5): Disappointing considering the cost - For the amount per night I expect good quality. Airconditioning did not work while it was 20+ degrees on the top floor. The room was a lot smaller than on the images. They did offer to change rooms the next day but that did not fix the first night, in the end (after asking for it) we got a single free breakfast worth about 5% of the total price.

Awkward room layout with door almost hitting the bed and you have to sqeeze into the room, but then there is enough space on the other side of the bed. Extremely visible wear and tear on the furniture. TV could be replaced for a newer model. Poor wifi connection.

Playing football in the evening inside and jumping all over the sofas and being very noisy. - Peter (1/5): Beschämend für ein solches Hotel trotz Zusage einer Rückerstattung dies nicht zu machen! - Es wurde ca. 2 Tage vorher angekündigt, dass im Hotel Umbauarbeiten stattfinden. Bei der Anreise konnte festgestellt werden, dass das gesamte Erdgeschoss von Bauarbeiten betroffen war und entsprechender Baulärm herrschte! Auf Nachfrage wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass die Bauarbeiten auch über die Osterfeiertag andauern würden! Eine ruhigen Aufenthalt im Kreise der Familie, die wir dorthin eingeladen hatten war nicht möglich! Aufgrund diesen Umständen entschlossen wir uns den Aufenthalt zu stornieren! Uns wurde vom Hotel zugesichert, dass das nach Absprache mit Booking.com durchgeführt werden kann. Eine Entschädigung ist bis zum heutigen Tag nicht erfolgt!!!

- Tony (7/5): Overall, generally happy with the cleanliness and size of room but the lack of value and options to book food (breakfast - The room was spacious and included a fridge, coffee machine and plenty of storage. The requirement to book breakfast for every night of your stay, no option to book for one or two of our three nights. This was extremely disappointing as one of the days we had to leave early for the London Marathon and didn’t have time for breakfast. I also think for the price we paid that breakfast should’ve been included, the room rate alone wasn’t great value. The noise level of the renovations were also a negative. I don’t recall being told the scale of this work when booking, but only later informed when it seemed too late to change our plans.

- Ayman (9/5): Beautiful, fun filled & relaxing adventure! - We loved this hotel. Extremely family friendly, from the swimming pools to the amazing soft play to the outdoor playground. We were so impressed with the facilities to accommodate our children. The staff were all so friendly & welcoming. Spa facilities were clean & relaxing. The garden is stunning. We were so relaxed, and this would appeal to those without children too. Definitely recommend. so close to the river side too, with a little nature walk nearby. The mattresses were quite uncomfortable unfortunately.

Hotel was undergoing renovation but was very well flagged in advance. Breakfast was served in the lounge which was lovely - and nice food The rooms are functional, clean, but need a refresh and the bed was fine but not the most comfortable
- Bronia (4/5): Avoid until fully refurbished - Location and hotel were superb. Food and staff were seriously below expectations. The hotel is under refurbishment, not due to end until September yet the hotel is still open fully. This results in everyone trying to squeeze into a small Dunbar lounge for meals. Completely chaotic and staff want you in and out. Free for all between the staff as to which tables they serve so every 30 seconds you have a different staff member coming up to you asking if you want anything else / trying to clear tables. They want you in and out for meals within 30 mins. It's a complete joke. Meals were below expectations for even a 3 star hotel. I'm sure a travelodge would offer better quality. Two of our group had pizza one eve and it resembled a deep pan frozen pizza from a budget supermarket. Breakfast items are cheap, low quality. Food, staff

- Natalie (8/5): I am an Interior Designer and I do look forward to staying again to see the finished refurbishment. - It felt safe for a single lady to stay in, despite the hotel size. My room was warm with thick curtains, great for my early night and the single bed was large and comfortable. The en-suite was spacious and pleasant. The staff were great, particularly in the spa; Jodie did the best stone massage and was lovely. I also was also impressed by the waitresses in the lounge and the cleaning staff who were very obliging. I understand that the hotel is going under a refurbishment but, my room was a weird layout. The en suite shower room was spacious and pleasant for a single room, but the corridor space to get to it had a big window with no blind behind the curtain. When I returned to go to bed it gave me a surprise as I was undressing walking to the bathroom particularly as the window was waste level. There were no places to unpack your bag into, apart from a small hanging space; some shelves in the wardrobe would have been good. There were no sockets near the bed but plenty in the room and it had a very noisy radiator and creaking floor board. I’m sure this will be sorted when refurbished. One other thing; it was strange that the spa didn’t have a jacuzzi!

- Stewart (3/5): Underwhelming - The Staff were wonderful and location great The room, the dirty extractor , the shower tray and sink not emptying until sometime after. No mention was made before booking that the hotel was undergoing extensive refurbishments , the breakfast/Ding room and bar inclusive was small and didn’t accommodate everyone well and disabled packing spaces are extremely few let alone any other guests parking. I’ve stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions around 10 years ago and it was wonderful then but now I’m afraid to say that regardless of the refurbishments going on! It’s poor including the minimal menu. Ps when asking for eggs on toast I was told they’d bring me the eggs BUT I’d have to go and get my own toast and put the eggs on it!!!!! I didn’t realise I was in a weatherspoons ? But they even give you breakfast arranged well. And when I asked for mayonnaise! It came in sachets?? Not in a pot … for a supposed higher regarded hotel ??? It’s appalling.

- 90e80b5dda5c7211b14125918b89ebdb (8/5): A lovely weekend supported by attentive staff - Location, facilities, staff, quality of food and service. The positive is the bar and restaurant is undergoing a major renovation programme, but this did result in queues developing for breakfast and at times limited space during the evening in the members area that is being used as temporary provision. The staff were great in seeking to manage this challenge so it’s not so much about not liking this, more about this does add a different dynamic to a stay compared to our previous experiences at the hotel. Looking forward to coming back and seeing the new bar and restaurant.

Thank you!!! - The overall setting of the Lensbury alongside the Thames and it’s close proximity to Teddington town centre and Bushy Park. A minor observation but car parking spaces appeared to be limited slightly.

The whole of the first floor under construction! No breakfast area ? The whole of the restaurant and breakfast area closed ! NO mention of this when booking ? That was a real disappointment but to add insult to injury the breakfast was moved again to a conference area miles away from the main area and in a sterile uninviting area with conference candidates everywhere !! The staff were also very off ? Not their normal selves. The reception staff were particularly rude and I would not mind a conversation with the manger before I ad this to an online review. As above

- 337fcf7e38627009e63499a6f7375331 (3/5): Terrible as it was our honeymoon - Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally lodge a serious complaint regarding my recent stay at your hotel, which fell far below acceptable standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and guest care. During our stay, my husband and I were exposed to conditions that were not only unpleasant but also harmful. Both of us have since developed dermatitis, which we strongly believe is a direct result of the unsanitary environment within your premises. This is completely unacceptable and raises significant concerns about your hygiene protocols. Furthermore, we encountered multiple instances of poor cleanliness throughout the room. The water glasses provided were visibly dirty, making it clear they had not been properly cleaned or replaced. The floors were heavily stained, contributing to an overall sense of neglect and disregard for basic housekeeping standards. These are not minor oversights—they represent a fundamental failure to maintain a safe and clean environment for guests. We have taken photographic evidence documenting all of these issues, including the dirty glasses, stained floors, and other concerning conditions. This evidence clearly supports the seriousness of our complaint. Given the circumstances, we find it entirely unreasonable to have been charged for such an experience. We are therefore requesting a full refund for our stay. Anything less would not adequately reflect the inconvenience, discomfort, and health impact we have endured. Please treat this matter with the urgency it deserves. If we do not receive a satisfactory response within a reasonable timeframe, we will have no hesitation in escalating this complaint further and sharing our experience through appropriate consumer channels. - Keith (6/5): Disappointing - but I would stay again looking for improvements after the dining area refurbishment has been completed. - The actual site and grounds. The main dining room was being refurbished and we had to eat in the spa lounge. We were not informed of this when we booked. The selection of food for dinner was limited and what we actually ate was disappointing. We also had to book a time for breakfast which was a nuisance. Our bedroom was facing tennis courts and really noisy fans or air conditioning units were very irritating as we sleep with the window open. Our room was right above an outdoor terrace where wedding guests celebrating kept us awake until after midnight.
