Guest Reviews
- AAnnaaa (10/5): - My stay was absolutely amazing. It was the perfect place to relax, disconnect, and be in contact with nature while still having all our needs taken care of. They offer an all-inclusive package with 3 meals a day for 4,600 VT, which made everything super easy and stress free. The accomodation I did via Booking.com, the process was very straightforward, and they charged my card beforehand.
I also got to do two scuba dives during my stay, which made the experience even more special. Cost 17,000vt.
The setup on the island is simple but very well thought out. There is a main generator where you can charge your devices during the day, while the generators in the shacks run for about 3 hours each night. The shacks also have solar lights, and they provide candles, mosquito coils (which were amazing), and even a fireplace.
The dogs are absolutely lovely - they follow you around, guide you through the island, and make you feel safe and welcome.
Everyone there was incredibly kind. Linda and Samuel took care of everything and made sure my stay was perfect from beginning to end. They are genuinely lovely people. Before arriving, I was in contact with Marie via email, and she always replied very quickly, usually within just a couple of hours.
Vodafone SIM worked perfectly on the island - I was even able to join a Zoom call. They also have Wi-Fi that worked quite well throughout the day.
There’s plenty to do if you want, or you can simply relax. You can sunbathe, lie in the hammocks, enjoy the fireplace, kayak, snorkel, go for bushwalks, and just enjoy the beauty of Vanuatu.
For me, it was the perfect 2 nights / 3 days trip from Port Vila. I considered staying an extra night, but honestly, two nights felt like the ideal amount of time to fully relax and enjoy the island before returning refreshed.
They also offer transfers from anywhere in Port Vila for 4,000 VT, which made getting there very easy.
Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Vanuatu. There wasn't TOO much trash on the beach as I've seen in other islands but it could definetely be a bit cleaner...

- Michael (10/5): Jederzeit wieder - Die perfekte Unterkunft für Abenteurer . Mir hat alles and der Unterkunft gefallen Alles Top genau das was ich mir erhofft hatte an Unterkunft
- sophia (9/5): Fun adventure - This is a great location for an adventure island experience. The facilities are limited but that is because you are on a remote island and we think it added to our experience! The staff were delightful and looked after us very well! Just prepare for limited light and facilities.
- Tyler (10/5): Tranquil and peaceful - This was a gorgeous magical place to stay, It was indeed absolutely tranquil! The weather was not in my favour however i had a relaxing time reading and enjoying the tropical rain. The island is gorgeous and it’s such a pleasure to meander from place to place. The snorkeling is literally right there on the doorstep! Staff were so helpful and really did a fabulous job of making you feel welcome. The food was some of the best i had in vanuatu, very fresh plentiful and delicious. This isn’t an experience for everyone, there is inconveniences and discomfort. There is bugs everywhere, the facilities are basic. But i sought peace, tranquility and privacy- it was exactly what i got!

- Josie (8/5): - Unbeatable location - incredible snorkelling right at your door, so many turtles and we even saw a dugong! Staff are all so lovely and welcoming, and food was great. Fares could do with some repairs and updating.
- Lara (10/5): beautiful people and island , very good for a beach day - Beautiful island , so easy to just snorkel all day and relax . The dogs were basically our tour guides all day. The staff are the nicest people , they spoke, joked around and helped us all day, they even helped create a beautiful proposal that I will never forget , thank you so much Linda in particular !! The place is a little old, made in 1980-1990 I’m not sure , which was honestly fine for us, but maybe not for others. The shower pressure was only a sprinkle , but still useable
- Donna (10/5): Quite paradise - The quietness an location.
Wonderful staff that go far beyond to make guests very welcomed. Nothing
- Jade (8/5): Gorgeous stay! - You can’t beat the tranquility that this place provides, literally! Surrounded by reefs, all your snorkelling and diving needs are easily met. Great company kept with the three musketeer dogs, lovely Boots, Spotty and playful Mindi. Calm and gentle staff members meeting your needs and cheerful hellos, especially Mr Morris and Linda. The beaches are also incredible, with recommendation of spending some time at Fred’s Beach after a slightly challenging but great walk. The dogs will show you the way. The facilities are quite run down now, being our second time coming here. We completely appreciate the off-grid lifestyle, having lived this way the past three years, but this is quite rough. If you can look passed the basics though, not having a rubbish bin or simple broom to help keep the rooms clean, and just focus on the pure awesomeness of having such beautiful water at your doorstep, then I highly recommend. And also the general chilled lifestyle that it offers you for your stay.
Unfortunately, though it gives you an option for the meal packages as an extra, you actually don’t have any other choice but to participate in the meals (which were delicious!). But as another visitor mentioned in their review, perhaps just including it in the price saves on the additional payment at the end of stay, meaning a trip to the office in Port Vila and extra time wasted. Also, hopefully you don’t have dietary requirements, as even though I pre-prepared by informing them I was vegetarian, this was obviously not relayed to the chef, Douglas. For the second time..
Definitely be quite pro-active if you are wanting to do something! Otherwise enjoy the chill pace.
Lastly, poor Boots has been around for a number of years, as we met her in 2019. She was fit as anything then, and still has the same enthusiasm, but is quite uncomfortable for a number of reasons. Overly long nails, arthritis through her body and an uncomfortable skin, which all three seemed to struggle with through the day. I totally get the ‘island way’ and all that, but Owen (owner) is aware of her and yet all that was said is, she’s not in a good way (as we arrived on the island). She’s such a sweet girl, but yes, not in a good way. Thankfully Mr Morris seems to care for them, but he can only do what he can do. Perhaps the owners could have a bit of compassion and get them seen to? Including Spotty who has possibly had puppies recently? But also struggling with skin issues.
- Amy (1/5): NOT THE PLACE TO STAY if you are the slightest bit handicapped. - Nice camp-feeling location NOT HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE despite it saying so in the ad. Steps into the bathroom. Crab holes dotting the paths making it difficult to walk with a cane or walker.
- Chris (7/5): Our stay in the rustic huts was fun! Communal meals with other travellers was a highlight. Can recommend the walk across - Fantastic location. Snorkelling from the front of the bungalow was great. Peaceful location. The rustic huts were fine, exactly what we were expecting. The amount of rubbish in the bush around the huts was disappointing. The resort needs a general tidy-up of rubbish in the bushes and along the beachfront as it washes in. This wasn’t bad, but just looked untidy. We tidied up around our hut and it took about 20 minutes. Would not take long for a tidy up of the resort area.
- LLUIS Mª (10/5): Estància fantàstica. Alerta el preu que dona BOOKING dons la web del Ressort es molt mes barata. - Illa perfecta i allotjament perfecta.
- Jade (10/5): - The staff were amazing and felt like family. I was so grateful for their care, laughter and all the little things they do to help guests. The food was really yummy- best I had at any of the resorts. The snorkling was peaceful and so enjoyable. I loved my hammock too which the lovely Linda got for me as I have some health issues and how can I forget the beautiful "fur staff- mindi, boots and spots. Leaving! Haha
- Garcia (10/5): Absolutely amazing and peaceful - Best place in Vanuatu for rustic lovers
- tamsin (3/5): -
- Julia (9/5): Most amazing location, exceptional staff and perfect place to unwind - Most amazing location, exceptional staff and perfect place to unwind and dive under Vanuatu
- Natalia (10/5): Lovely stay - It was an absolutely amazing stay at Tranquility. Staying in the wilderness in a very comfortable bungalow. There’s electricity available for the short time, but just enough to charge your devices. Also there is solar lights available in the evening. And the hosts are the most lovely people!
- Lauren (9/5): - The people made the stay amazing. So well looked after and beautiful conversations. The beautiful dogs make the trip feel like home. The snorkelling off your front door step is unparalleled. The island rubbish is hard to ignore.
- Barry (8/5): - The peaceful location
Friendly staff
- Layla (10/5): -
- Naho (9/5): The best location - Quiet and nice place just in front of the water with beautiful coral reefs and turtles!
You can join the boat for snorkeling for free and swim in the beautiful sea! I saw turtles almost every time, and almost saw a dugong, which a staff who joined me saw, but I missed unfortunately. Hot shower was not available
- Flora (10/5): -
- David (9/5): Basic bungalow set-up. So don’t expect the Grand Budapest Hotel. But the location and staff are unreal. And the food was -
- Barnaby (7/5): - Although this place was run down and very rustic, as a camp out on a remote island it was great. Staff were excellent and personable. Lots of adventures to be had. Beds were good and Fale a peaceful way to sleep. Tough walk to Fred's Beach is a must. Amazing place.... Good snorkeling out front if you hunt around. Staff built a fire on the beach one night which was great. They made sure coffee was ready early which I appreciated. Enjoyed our stay very much. ( Myself and 13 yr old daughter). While we were there it was a bit hard to organise boat trips or get advice on good ways to spend the day. Had to be persistent and fend for ourselves a bit. Paddle boards, kayaks, snorkeling gear and beach furniture all pretty tired and rough. Still enjoyed the experience but this could be improved.
- Mehdi (10/5): Un bout de paradis! - Emplacement exceptionnel
Chaque bungalow a sa propre mini-plage
Sensation d’isolement et de calme
Gentillesse du personnel
Flexibilité de l’organisation
Super site de plongée et snorkeling
- Rebecca (7/5): Relaxing, great location beach front and snorkeling, wonderful staff - This is an Eco place to stay, the food was great, staff were amazing and made you feel so welcome. The fare are as described and suitable for this. Snorkeling right outside off your beach! I would stay again. Availability of wine - there appeared not to be any. But you can bring your own.
- Zina (9/5): -
- roddie (10/5): Beats all expectations - the time was amazing - staff was great, only slightly beaten out by the amazing location - - but you should know what you are going to Only thought would be, adding price of the food, it's not really an option to not be part of the food package, as such, should be included in the overall price
- Mark (10/5): A perfect place to relax, explore, and reset - Just an incredible escape - beautiful location, wonderful staff, STUNNING landscape, check out Fred's Beach for sure. A rare opportunity to unplug and come back to nature/real life - I really appreciated the generator electricity, allowed me to focus on the environment/myself - snorkeling, diving, hanging out in the hammock and/or collecting firewood to light a fire each night! The staff were so friendly and know the island inside out, and I loved the dogs (and all the wildlife!) It was an incredibly authentic and relaxing trip. Shower can be temperamental, but there's always an outdoor one or the ocean!
- Ross (8/5): Great for a nice local experience, with few people around, very relaxing and quiet, with beautiful s -
- Andrew (7/5): Great place to enjoy the surrounding reef and get away from world. - Amazing location, ability to snorkel and kayak right from the front door of the accommodation. Lack of power and lighting which I was expecting to a certain extent as power is provided by generators that run periodically but these weren’t always run as planned and power wasn’t available in room due to an issue.
- Shaun (9/5): -
- Julie (7/5): Camping style in a bungalow on a peaceful and idyllic island location. - Camping style in a bungalow on a peaceful and idyllic island location.
We paid for 3 meals a day, we found them healthy and filling.
“Fred’s Beach” is worth the walk and snorkelling.
Staff are wonderful. Be prepared for cold showers and take Mosquito spray.
Bedding wasn’t great, didn’t feel clean. Need pillows and pillow covers, not cushions.
Would have liked a broom in our room - but can ask for the bungalow to be cleaned.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Williams (9/5): Superb - This place is magical, staff were wonderful, it is a real paradise Take some of your own water, and mosquito repellent spray
- Jackson (10/5): 10/10 highly recommend for a genuine Vanuatu experience. - Amazing location for a true sense of island life. Stayed 3 nights with partner and enjoyed snorkelling everyday and scuba diving, we were lucky to spot a dugong. The staff ensured our every need was met, food was fantastic considering the remote location Everything was awesome about this place.
- Olivia (8/5): Very good -
- Donna (10/5): - If u want peace an quiet go here.
Its rustic bungalows are awesome look out to the ocean from your bed.
The staff are great.
Can't wait to go back to try their diving trips
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - It is a place where you can really find peace and tranquility and conect with nature.
- Leah (10/5): This is the experience you will remember the most vividly from your whole trip - 1- The dogs! They act as ‘tour guides’ and they take their jobs very seriously. They’re so clever and so lovely.
2- The location. It’s resplendent. Indescribable. Isolated and beautiful beyond comprehension.
3- The staff. Thomas was wonderful and helpful and his veggie curry was delicious.
Take mosquito repellent (Aeroguard) You have to experience a bit of discomfort but if you are aware and are willing to do that, you’ll have the best stay of your whole trip
- Reece (5/5): Extremely basic, run-down electricity free lodge. Overpriced for what is on offer but staff try hard - Very run-down and low maintenance. I was the only guest during my stay. I got very sick and needed hospitalisation. Poor food choices.
- Nicola (6/5): Snorkeling 10/10, Food & staff 7/10, bungalows/toilets beach bush camping style - Location is 10/10 beautiful reef/forest at your doorstep
Staff is super friendly but lacks a resort manager and basic hospitality training. Facility is heavily run down, both reception, bungalows, common areas need full renovation and probably new investors / new management. There’s no efforts towards offering any sort of activities while there would be plenty of options as the location/island is stunning. Should really invest in promoting a sustainable dive center/turism and activities such as island tours/fishing/indigineous cultural experience. Also investing in a waste management structure.
- Benjamin (8/5): Cool “off the grid” experience in a pristine island location. - Amazing remote location and very friendly staff! The dogs were also very helpful with showing us around the Island. I recommend going on a 1 hour trek to Fred’s Beach, as the dogs know the way through the jungle. Be aware that it is quite a primitive accomodation and lots of mosquitoes. However, a great experience if you want to go a bit “off the grid” and experience the proper island life. We were lucky that we met a friendly British couple who gave us recommendations on what to do on the island, the staff could potentially have informed better on these things (but, I’m sure if you ask they will be very helpful). Also be aware that the price for meals and drinks might differ from what it says when you book, so there could be an extra charge at the end of your stay. I recommend asking about this when you book, and bring some extra cash.
- Magdalena (10/5): Exceptional - Beautifully located cottages, the island is very quiet, safe and friendly. The whole staff is very helpful, they are really loved people. Thomas took care of our comfort the best and we are very grateful for this kindness and support.. Linda and Douglas and the rest of the wonderful crew made our stay amazing. There are also 3 wonderful dogs that accompanied us throughout the stay. The people dogs and the island made an amazing impression. Thank you. Houses require investment.
- Yanay (9/5): Love them all I will ba buck - Amazing place 4 diving
- Leo (8/5): Very good -
- Natasha (7/5): Great off grid experience, amazing staff but accommodations need serious cleaning and TLC. - The staff, location and food was amazing. I read the reviews before I booked so I knew to expect run down rooms which they are. If you want off grid experience this is for you. Staff biggest asset both on island and in town. Food was fabulous. Location wonderful. Great transfer service from town and back. You can also do day trips if that is more your jam. They turn generator on 2 times a day once in the morning and once in the afternoon so you can charge devices just need to confirm with staff when. I just kept my stuff plugged in so they charged even if I wasn't there Like everyone else says the rooms are well overdue for some TLC. I enjoy off grid seclusion but when you are paying a high price I expect cleanliness as a bare minimum. This would be a very quick and easy way to improve the customer experience. While I was there the water was a bit choppy and the visibility wasn't fantastic but still got in and had a snorkel every day.
- Hannah (8/5): Very good -
- Kathy (8/5): Very good -
- Lucy (4/5): Exceedingly disappointing - Stunning island in a beautiful area, it could be absolutely amazing. Diving was excellent but once again the boat and kit all needed an upgrade. The gentleman in charge, was lovely and helpful, but could only do so much - we were the only people staying there and not sure how many other go. The dogs were lovely and escorted us everywhere not ever leaving our side even when we went into the water snorkelling or on the kayaks! Unfortunately the "resort" in the closest sense of the word is run down, dilapidated and in much need of some love and $$. Renovations going on and noise and mess. The food was good but minimal and there was nothing else to eat, so my 16 yr old son was constantly starving. You could not take your own food and were given rationed breakfast, lunch and dinner, nowhere to even purchase anything else... The resort was covered in litter, we picked up bags and bags full, so sad with so much marine life around. Which I'm sure won't be the case for too much longer. Exceedingly expensive and charged "extra" for everything. Not exactly value for me, or commensurate with the state of the accomodation.
- Nakieta (10/5): - Amazing! Highly recommend for anyone that wants a getaway where you can switch off and enjoy being in the nature. Stuff very friendly and helpful. If you want to see turtles scuba diving or snorkelling go here.
- Pitcher (3/5): Poor - Being left on the beach for an hour before being shown my room, not having an on site payment options
- Nikki (10/5): This was the most amazing holiday location we have ever visited, and did not want to leave. - Amazing location, so peaceful. Nothing, perfect holiday location for anyone wanting peace, quiet and beauty.
- David (7/5): Good -
- Alexander (10/5): A great inexpensive place to spend a few days. - The bungalows are separated by bushes, which provides privacy.
There is a socket for charging. The Internet is caught through a cellular connection.
Magnificent beaches and a walk to the other shore of the island. null
- Alanna (6/5): Jungle hut accommodation on a tropical island - The food was great - I am in awe of what the chef, Douglas, was able to create in a small galley kitchen powered for a short amount of time by a generator. Delicious and great portions.
I loved the huts on the private beach, each with their own separate toilet&shower hut.
The beds were great. Drinking water was replenished daily and I never ran out. Drink prices were reasonable when compared to other places in Vanuatu.
The people were fabulous - a massive thank you to the delightful Linda who took me snorkelling, she was full of energy and was really fun to be around.
The paths were clearly marked and easy to walk on, they were raked over regularly so they remained well kept.
I relaxed, snorkelled, relaxed again, did a bunch of reading while sunning myself.
It's important to note that you should take reef shoes as the beaches are coral so will hurt if you don't have them. Information on what to do on the island once we got there was not exactly abundant. Normally I would have researched this myself but this booking was a last-minute one to replace the holiday I had planned in Tanna but couldn't get to.
There were dive suits but no one mentioned going diving.
There was a walk to a secluded beach but I only knew about that from another traveller - apparently they can give you a packed lunch to take with you and you get one of the dogs to show you the way, no one on the island mentioned it until I said I had already tried to get there but had to turn back as it was a really difficult and painful walk for me - I have had bad knee surgery and climbing over massive tree roots and in and through rocks.
I also had a problem with rats getting into the hut. There are heaps of repairs around the resort that need to be made, one of them is the deterioration of the woven reeds in Fare2, the hut I stayed in. After the first night, one of the dogs took it upon itself to sleep right at the opening and so prevented the rats from coming in again. I know it's a jungle island and wildlife is to be expected, but the accommodation needs to be maintained.
- Chris (8/5): - Very relaxed atmosphere, a pity about the mosquitoes.
- Sharon (4/5): - Way over-priced for what it is.
Run down.
Not that “Tranquil” when a heap of dogs camp right outside your accommodation and bark their heads off numerous times in the night, and mice get into your stuff.
Not that “Eco” with rubbish everywhere, so many dogs, mice and rats, diesel generator, solar lights that only work during the day.
Staff were lovely tho. Food and wine were good.
- Morwenna (8/5): Beautiful tranquil spot perfect for relaxing - Really enjoyed our stay here! Cosy hut with a view out to the beautiful water edge. Staff were friendly and helpful and we had tasty sustaining meals. Diving was amazing! Saw hawksbill turtles and so many kinds of fish and corals. Could’ve been cleaner in the shower/bathrooms as a minor improvement.
- kasper (10/5): Escape civilization - absolutely amazing to get away from civilization. snorkel, dive and enjoy the peace and quiet. Mr Thomas and his team are amazing host!
- Holly (8/5): Wan naesfala ples - The staff were helpful and engaging. Special shout out to Taso for the delicious meals. Moso is beautiful and I enjoyed the snorkelling trip out to Owen's Beach. The resort has a very relaxed vibe, and the amenities reflect that. It was fun to sponsor and name a turtle. It was very hot at night and a fan would've been welcome to help me sleep (though I appreciate this may not be possible on solar power).
- Valentin (10/5): A true, out of the ordinary, experience to be done at least once. - A true experience, although not for everyone. Staying in a traditional fare is a must do for those that are not afraid to trade comfort for something truly special. Everyone on the island is very friendly and ready to help at all times, you have SUP boards, snorkeling gear and kayaks for free, diving at your doorstep, a turtle sanctuary and a beautiful island to explore.
- Ricardo (7/5): nice and simple getaway location - great location. awesome diving and snorkeling right off the resort. awesome to see the turtles value for money. I understand the concept of a simple accommodation (no electricity, no water), but it should come with a simple accommodation price.
- Hanna (10/5): Wonderful, peaceful oasis not far from Port Vila - the perfect place to kick back 3-5 days. - Wonderful, peaceful oasis not far from Port Vila. Marie in town and then Thomas and Douglas on the island made the stay memorable. I felt looked after. Diving with Jerry was fun, even has a not experienced Open Water Padi. The trek across the island to Fred's, a cute Robinson Crusoe beach, was relaxing. I stayed in fare 3 and it was stunning with lots of air flow, a hammock to chill and always fresh flowers for decoration to make you feel like you are in paradise. The food was plenty and carefully decorated. The perfect place to kick back 3-5 days. Nothing
- Madelaine (10/5): Incredible, can't wait to go back - The whole experience was incredible, from the food to the view and all the bits in-between. Everyone was lovely and welcoming, including the dogs who look out for you as well on the walks around the island.
- Jackie (10/5): A truly, unique, private experience. - The private beach outside our fare with a fire setup was very cool. The walk across the island to Fred’s Beach was fantastic, beautiful beach and great snorkelling. The staff were really lovely and super helpful. The location was awesome. Nothing
- Mgb (7/5): Good -
- Arohalee22 (8/5): Very good -
- Stephen (10/5): Great low key resort. - Low key resort, great for getting away from the crowds. Snorkeling and beaches easy to get to. Really enjoyed the local dog ‘boots’ taking us to a remote beach nearby. Nothing
- Matthewac (9/5): A spartan retreat on a stunning little island. - Moso island is lovely, and this place the perfect retreat there for kayaking, hiking and snorkeling/diving. The kitchen provides ample and tasty food, and the staff are kind and helpful. Still recovering from the last cyclone, the cottages require a healthy injection of funds for repairs and upgrades. That process has begun, but one gets the sense it will take some time. Considering the above, it is a bit over-priced.
- Iveta (8/5): Moso Island, perfect stay - Beautiful quiet place. Part of island only for few guests from resort. Perfectl beach on other side of island, 50mins walk. Food was tasty and we have enough. Friendly dogs. Be prepared for lot of spiders, i don't like them but it is price for stay close to the jungle with nice view to see :)
- Martin (9/5): Superb - Gorgeous peaceful island. Great snorkeling. Relaxed atmosphere. Very casual. The only thing we didn't like was the amount of plastic litter lying around.
It was very off putting.
- Jenise (10/5): the real Bonnie Doon - Tranquility, serenity, peace. This is the real Bonnie Doon.
30 minute ride from airport, 15 minute boat ride to island, then peace.
Dolphins, dugongs, turtles, fish and coral galore. Straight out from your Bure or within a short walk. No car noise, no street lights, only sounds is from other guests or the lapping ocean. Thick black nights = maximum star gazing.
Take the time to get to Fred’s Beach. It is spec-tac-ular. Ask the kitchen for a picnic lunch as you’ll need to spend hours there. 75 minute hike, private beach, crystal clear water, deep coral, little cave to explore. You won't want to leave. The best part is the tour guide, Boots the dog. She will take you there, stay with you and guide you back (take some water for her as there’s no fresh water and she won't leave until you’re done.).
There is nothing luxurious about the living quarters at this resort, it is very basic. Do not come here if you’re a sook. 4 hours of electricity, 1 wifi hot spot, dinner is placed in front of you and it’s that or nothing (which removes all the thinking about meals and you’ll be famished). Lots of walking and sightseeing or you can chill out in a hammock. Reef shoes and a torch are a must.
One highlight is attending meals with the other guests and comparing what you’ve each discovered over the day. Some great connections made. Diving can be arranged twice a day, snorkelling and sunshine all day.
The staff are gentle, kind, hardworking and will do whatever they can to make your stay better. Be kind to them, bring them gifts as they deserve all the love.
The new manager, Evante, has some great ideas for small improvements – like the bonfire! A great evening for everyone. Hopefully she’ll be given some leash unlike other past managers who have burnt out inside 2 years. FYI – she loves talking about horror movies and we happened across a dolls head on one of our walks. We may or may not have scared the crap out of her by putting it on the well. Pure gold! Love you, Evante. The major downside for us was seeing how the owner (Owen) and his best buddy (Stan) treated the local staff members. Rude, obnoxious, tight, unappreciative, belittling, penny-pinching, smug old dudes. Any suggestions or variations are denied just because they don’t like change. No repairs or upkeep has been done in years. The staff work 12+ hour days and some stay on the premises. No amenities allowed, half the roof blown off and they’re permitted to eat whatever the dogs don’t and some bread. I do not joke. Early one morning, Stan called out that a light had been left on at our Bure overnight and he was coming down to turn it off. I replied that we were still sleeping (1 woman, 2 children), he then ENTERED OUR ROOM to turn the light off. When confronted, both he and the owner justified his actions as being totally acceptable. Like, what now? Again, I do not joke or embellish. If this is how they’re treating paying guests, imagine how they’re treating staff! I can think of many 4 lettered words appropriate for these two Australian people.
- Jacinda (10/5): - Tranquility was just perfect. Everything from the transfers to and from Port Vila to the delicious meals and very hospitable staff and locals. There is so much to see and do right at your door step. We particularly loved the snorkelling and small day hikes to different reefs. We loved it and most certainly will be back. Thank you
- Arttu (9/5): Superb - Superb tasting meals were conjured in the jungle. The house reef was quite nice with moray eels, turtles, sea snakes, puffers and the usual reef fish. Healthy corals are always a joy. Water for drinking did not really do the trick for pampered taste buds.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Totally relaxing with enough adventure when you wanted it. Our host were wonderful and the food was great everyone so lovely
- Keelin (10/5): Exceptional - Had a wonderful stay at tranquility for the weekend. Many hours spent snorkelling, paddle boarding and kayaking. Some beautiful reef and the water was loaded with turtles. The food was yummy and such a luxury to have breakfast lunch and dinner cooked for you. Maddie and Finn were very welcoming and friendly and gave us plenty of advice on what to do. Would highly recommend a visit.
- david (2/5): - Setting bungalow positions and coral reef were excellent. Staff were friendly, but the bungalows were dilapidated rundown with zero maintenance and I could not recommend this place to anybody to stay overnight.
- Kingydav (8/5): A true wilderness experience, basic but unspoilt. - So relaxing! snorkelling and kayaking was great. The local chef was skilful and creative. Eating area facilitated meeting other guests. Coffee was great. Need to replace the mattresses on the bed, and new pillows. Larger mosquito net would make it easier to avoid contacting it and being bitten through the net. Fare 7 could do with cleaning up the access to beach in front of the cabin.
- Joanne (2/5): Couldnt stay due to fear of getting a disease here. But so much potential if some care went into the - Location was lovely. If the accommodation had been clean and not so run down, we would have stayed the night Hut was in bad repair, not safe from mosquitoes. Very unclean, ensuite was filthy dirty
- Charlotte (4/5): Disappointing - Beautiful setting. Diving was good and felt in good hands with Maree and Finn as my dive guides. Basic things were lacking eg had to ask for toilet roll and soap, no shower head, no hot water. No cushions on wooden sun loungers so limited options for relaxation. No fan in room - very hot at night. No secure lock on room. Expected more for $ paid.
- Aimore (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (8/5): Great Eco resort- snorkelling was amazing - Great Eco resort, very environmentally friendly - great turtle rescue, amazing snorkeling right in front of the villas, staff are great - super friendly and happy to assist - boat ride over daily if needed & bus to town, great atmosphere The owners need to spend money on fixing lots of items, i understand covid has made income minimal last few years, but basic upgrades on the resort are needed, shower heads corroded, more water sprayed over wall, toilet seat was bad, mould smell to room as moisture holds to side wall of villa, bed was good size but mattress was a foot short, so either our pillows fell off or our feet hung over, the sheets needed proper washing, stains were not great
Really expected to Dive each day as its a dive resort, left as they were all booked, so no point in staying
- Pui (7/5): overall good experience. expect lots of insects so bring plenty of insect repellent - lovely and attentive staff. decent food and snorkeling. bed was not comfy and mosquito net had big holes but staff had it replaced straight away.
- Vladimir (9/5): Superb -
- Alexis (9/5): Probably discovered what my dream holiday is and I will return ! - This is not a resort for everyone but such a relaxing place.
I liked the calm, the fare (house) next to the water literally you walk 4m and you’re on your private beach and feet in water.
I liked the ocean sound during the night.
The staff has been amazing and what the owner did of this part of the island is just stunning.
If you want to be nearly secluded from the world for a time with just the nature and few staff and guest, then this will be your ideal destination.
Dive and snorkelling is amazing there. In short, I LOVED it 😊 I think food options for people with special dietary requirement has some room for progress 😊
Be careful of the Fare (house) structure. Sometimes, it is hidden behind roof leaves and you can bump into it if you do not pay attention.
- Snowdon (10/5): 1000% better than staying on the mainland! - The location was beautiful quiet, plenty to do and see, Free to use kayaks/Paddle boards and snorkeling gear. was great to go scuba diving with the friendly hosts and my partner learnt to scuba dive with them. The bed could have been more comfortable
- Pauline (10/5): A little gem to disconnect, explore and relax - Marie and Finn are, besides being talented and professional dive instructors, generous, kind, spontaneous and interesting people who made our experience memorable!
The fares have everything you need, are very private in such an idyllic surrounding - ocean at your doorstep and an absolutely stunning oceans views and sounds.
Gorgeous reef and dive sites, beautiful bush walks and beaches
Thomas and Douglas are the best chef in Vanuatu - mention special for the coconut crepes, they cooked lovely meals and looked after us well.
Best experience in Vanuatu - just the whole package of beautiful scenery, ocean at your doorstep, snorkelling, scubadiving, turtle sanctuary, Marie &
Finn and their team and the beautiful food. We will definitely come back and hoping to catch up somewhere in the world with Marie & Finn again - Nothing -
- Ben (10/5): In the top 5 places that I’ve ever stayed. - Everything — one of my favourite places I’ve ever stayed: the fares (huts) with the private patch of beach and lapping waves; walking barefoot along the sandy paths; the instructor-managers Fin & Marie; the dogs Spot, Boots, and Socks; the food and the catering staff Thomas and Douglas; diving in the incredible water; the various hikes around the island of Moso; Fred’s Beach… exceptional. Nothing.
- Petra (8/5): Very good - Beautiful nature and friendly people working there 😊 spiders but that’s nature
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Tranquility is a beautiful, relaxing base to explore the island. The bungalows are clean and situated on private beaches. Hosts were warm, friendly and extremely helpful. Beautiful pups to keep you company during your stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful setting with fantastic snorkeling right outside your fare door.
The staff were friendly and helpful and it's a unique chance to see turtles up close in and out of the water.
- Lisa (10/5): A very special experience - This is definitely not a 5 star resort, but we enjoyed it so much more than our posh resort we stayed at next in Port Vila. That resort was still good of course, but compared to the serenity and privacy we enjoyed at Tranquillity Island Resort - we wish we had chosen to stay here longer.
We chose the traditional style 'fare' so as to fully enjoy the ambience of our surroundings - the beach just steps away, and any neighbouring guests enjoying their own piece of paradise in total seclusion - once we had all deviated from the main track where the endangered juvenile Coconut Crabs were encouraged to feed and could be seen in the evenings.
Our room was basic (as we expected) and very comfortable, although we spent most of our time on our balcony enjoying the view. We opted for the full meal package, and was not at all disappointed with the fresh and tasty meals this provided for us, and we certainly never went hungry. In fact the food was delicious, and we fell madly in love with the coffee they had - not caring at all that they had to use powdered milk.
The managers, Sun and Joe, were always lovely and helpful, and their passion for caring for the environment was obvious. All the staff were great, and always had big happy smiles.
A wonderful place to snorkel or dive (they have their own dive facilities), walk along the beach or inland, or just chill out and do nothing at all. Our personal highlight had to be releasing a Hawksbill Turtle as part of their conservation program.
- J Wisby (10/5): Lovely few nights - Tranquility was a lovely simple resort. The room was comfortable and had everything you needed. The food was slightly expensive, but is comparable to Port Vila. Joe and Sun were excellent hosts and made the experience easy and enjoyable. I would recommend this resort for a few nights away from the busy city.
