Guest Reviews
- Rosalyn (8/5): Beautiful location, great for golfers , average for families - Beautiful location Slow service due to golf event
- Caroline (10/5): Excellent. - The staff were excellent: friendly, efficient and super-helpful.
- du Toit (9/5): Charming and elegant boutique hotel in glorious Sussex setting with great food and wime - The Hotel is a beautifully decorated boutique hotel on an idyllic golf course/wine estate in West Sussex. The location is a little rural, but was perfect for our needs. The staff were incredibly helpful an friendly, the bar is well stocked and the breakfast was great. Our room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable.
We loved that breakfast was included in the price. The shower didn't maintain a steady temperature and kept bouncing from warm to cold. The rooms are small, but not uncomfortably so.
Not much else to complain about.
- Volker (10/5): Tolles, ruhiges Landhotel. - Sehr geräumiges Zimmer, großes und helles Bad. Sehr aufmerksames, herzliches Personal.
Alles perfekt
- Kate (10/5): Complete relaxation - value, views, and vineyards - What a find! We've stayed here twice this year and love the wine, food and friendly staff. The rooms are lovely with gorgeous views of the golf course, and the beds very comfortable. Already booked our next stay.
- Anita (8/5): Had a lovely time and would happily stay here again if in the area. - We had to leave very early for a trip to Knepp Estate and the kitchen kindly prepared a breakfast for us to take with us. The Staff were so friendly and helpful for the whole stay. We didnt dislike anything but some kind of bar that ran later into the evening would have been good.
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): - We enjoyed the wine tasting with friendly young host Harry who was knoweldgable. Good supper and excellent fruit salad and eggs ben. for breakfast. Great views over adjacent golf course. Nobody at reception on check in and given a number to call which didn't answer. After that we found a nice lady in the restaurant who helped. Art not to our taste - even it the owner likes it! Overal could be much more stylish - entrance area shabby. Confusing as theres another hotel close by under same name with garden walks etc (we now understand booked up and more expensive). Website did not make it clear which was which.
- adam (10/5): Such a relaxing weekend - Everything. It was a real treat staying there That we couldn’t stay longer
- Alan (9/5): Relaxing - Location and staff were amazing

- Paula (10/5): -
- Linda (8/5): - Breakfast very good, staff excellent Room very small and cramped and dark
- Gordon (9/5): -
- Robert (10/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): Ok but nothing special - Car park Small room. No one on reception so had to go and find someone to check in. More catered for golfers than general guests
- JANE (10/5): -
- Hendrik Johannes (10/5): - Friendly well trained staff
- John (5/5): Very comfortable bed but other areas lacking. - Unique for the UK to have vineyard and tasting room. Bedroom had infestation of ladybirds. Breakfast not served till 8.30, too late for my schedule.
- Jane (10/5): -
- SHARON (9/5): - The room was beautifully decorated, bed and pillows very comfortable and the bathroom was very large with big walk in shower and separate roll top bath. Lovely view of the golf course. Very quiet.
Breakfast was delicious and all the staff very friendly and helpful. Will most definitely stay here again. Expected bathrobes and slippers to be provided in a hotel of this quality. Otherwise, everything else was great.
- Beth (10/5): Worth your money, plus some! - Amazing service, beautiful setting, tastefully decorated, great amenities and wonderful staff. Nothing
- William (10/5): -
- Gabriele (10/5): Very nice cosy place and great staff - Amazing place in a beautiful golf course Not much at all
- Lindsey (10/5): Excellent - Lovely rooms, excellent staff, great views and the breakfast was 10/10 There was a function on and therefore we couldn’t have a drink in the bar. We had to go out to a pub. We would have liked to of experienced the wines they had on offer and maybe something to eat. If they had another little bar area for the guests that would be wonderful.
- Marica (10/5): Comfy and cosy country stay - The bed was the comfiest bed I've slept on. The bathroom facilities were excellent. Our room was extremely cosy and classic but with modern touches. Nothing
- Jack (10/5): Beautiful place and the staff really looked after us and made us feel welcome - Brilliant experience in every aspect Couldn't fault anything
- Michael (10/5): -
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Hugh (10/5): Just great; more than we could have hoped for. - Staff just so helpful, nice people, knew the history, committed to their roles and the place.
Food excellent, and the wine flights an excellent idea.
Beautiful sunny afternoon, and evening; view out over golf course, into the distance, while enjoying the sparking wine flight, just magical. Had a minor issue with the shower, but staff on duty were so helpful, and found good alternative solution.
- Darryl (9/5): Relaxing nothing to much trouble - Solitude excellent service and breakfast
- Jem (8/5): Great location with views over the pretty golf course. - Lovely quiet and peaceful stay. Great location for what we wanted.
Very friendly, helpful, pleasant and polite staff. Had a problem with a radiator resulting in a need to change rooms. Staff were extremely apologetic and helpful in relocating us.
- Ian (10/5): A great stay, just one night (before our son’s wedding) but the hotel was great and the staff fantastic. - Classic old hotel in a lovely location. Rooms were very comfortable.
- Katie (8/5): - The room was amazing The food wasn’t great
- David (8/5): Easy & comfortable with a neíce view from the breakfast table. - Friendly and efficient reception, the only thing missing was a comfy chair in the bedroom. I'm 5' 10'' and the fixed shower head was too low in the bathroom, i.e. below my head height. This also made it pretty difficult to use the moveable shower head. Better to just remove the fixed one.
- Nick (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Lovely setting. High standard of property
- Daniela (10/5): -
- karel (9/5): -
- Simpson (10/5): -
- Tracey (10/5): Very enjoyable, luxurious establishment wonderful surrounds and comfort. - All the food was amazing. The rooms were spotlessly clean. Harry who was there to meet us on reception was exceptional, very professional and friendly. We stayed for work purposes but would stay here for pleasure also. I was so impressed i have passed the details to work colleagues. To be honest i cannot find fault. Everything was to our liking and in good order, even the menus were very good.
- Pravi (10/5): -
- caroline (10/5): Perfect - Beautiful spot with great staff who couldn’t be more helpful.
- Theresa (5/5): Disappointed overall - dated and needs updating/care - Nice location
It was warm/heated. Bedrooms were good size. Very dated and needs updating. No toilet/sink upstairs with 3 bedrooms. No hot water in the 1 en-suite bathroom. TV didn't work. Radio didn't work. Door handle in downstairs toilet HS issue - hand got trapped. Carpets grubby/Worn and walks paint peeling everywhere.
- Georgina (10/5): -
- Deborah (10/5): -
- Domini (7/5): Lovely location with good food and friendly staff. The room allocated was small and the bed was too narrow for a comfort - Location and food Very small room and bed.
- Rosielk (8/5): - We liked the Oak Room - tastefully done and although on the ground floor, we heard very little noise from the corridor.
I had requested that room before we arrived,as it was my husband's birthday. The hotel generously gave us a bottle of bubbly in an ice bucket in our room and offered to bag it up if we didn't drink it in the room - that was so nice and the member of staff who showed us to our room was very welcoming.
Breakfast was well cooked and with quality ingredients. The noise of machinery or an engine before 8 am outside or window. This could have been part of the maintenance of the grounds or golf course. A bit early and a drawback of the lovely Oak Room!
- Marcus (10/5): -
- Idong (9/5): Perfectly peaceful getaway! - Breakfast was divine. Wine flight was a treat. Most importantly the staff were lovely. Thank you Jo, Harry and Harry. Looking forward to returning next year!
- Christins (10/5): -
- Philip (10/5): Loved the stay. Loved the hotel and the staff. Just a shame about the heating - Fantastic full English breakfast. Great staff Poor heating in the room. Bathroom never warmed up and room never really became acceptably warm despite two requests to turn heating on/up
- Alex (10/5): - Staff were excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great vineyard tour, great food, and fantastic wine! It is slightly confusing when looking online as to what activities are held where.
- Karen (10/5): - We loved everything 💜 Nothing
- Theresa (10/5): Will return - Treated nicely on arrival (wedding night)
- Samuel (10/5): -
- Lesley (9/5): -
- Mike (10/5): -
- Sue (10/5): Excellent in every way, Thank you so much - Beautiful place, bedroom was so nice, I have mobility issues and was given a free upgrade, it was exceptional, Everywhere is so clean, Well Done to the Cleaners, We had the continental breakfast and it was really very nice, the staff could not do enough for you, the lady at breakfast was a delight chatty and very helpful, Then a lovely handsome young man, bought us over a drink and was so nice and had a chat he had just returned from a holiday in Cefulu, he is a keeper, you have some very conscientious staff, we loved our stay, and would definitely come back if we are in the area again. This Hotel comes highly recommended. Nothing
- Anthony (10/5): This was a delightful place in all respects for a stop over on a journey. - Excellent. We had the oats and the eggs royale. Perfectly cooked. The only issue was that the eggs were served at the same time as the oats; it should have been separate. Nothing comes to mind.
- Maisie (10/5): Comfortable and cosy with lovely views - Pretty clean and well presented Loved it all
- alexia (7/5): -
- Emma & Mark (10/5): - A very friendly welcome when we arrived and a lovely room. Beautiful surroundings and wonderful breakfast.
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional facilities with staff that go above and beyond! - The staff and the quality of the food/drink made the trip. The hotel/facilities were faultless, but the staff were exceptional. Always happy to help and always willing to make sure we had everything we needed. Hotels far and wide could benefit from the same training. Nothing. Everything was perfect.
- Lucas (10/5): Absolutely awesome! Would come again! - The Breakfast included was amazing and had many options to choose from. The rooms were great and the hotel itself was beautiful. The terrace overlooking the golf course was gorgeous and we even saw many of the herds of deer that come out at sunset!
- Rüdiger (9/5): Great hotel for a Golf vacation - Beautifil rooms, clean, new bathrooms, nice Restaurant No Lift available
- Anna (10/5): I booked the wine tour with dinner and an overnight stay for my husband's birthday. - Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked eggs and lovely big pot of tea. My husband had the full English while I enjoyed the smoked salmon bagel with avocado and poached eggs. It was all very good.
- steve (1/5): -
- Lucy (8/5): Relaxing overnight stay in quiet and comfortable surroundings - The breakfast offered a good selection of plated options cooked to order and catered for dietary requirements. The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating, particularly in allowing us a very late check out following our stay. There was an old contact lens on the floor of our room as well as some crumbs which looked like bourbon biscuits by one of the feet of the bed. The room was otherwise clean and extremely comfortable. The lack of availability of food in the evening (we stayed on a Monday) was a bit of a shame, but we were made aware of this on booking, phoned as a reminder a few days before our stay and provided with plates and cutlery to serve up food which we collected from a local takeaway, so we didn't go hungry!
- Lien (9/5): -
- Phil (10/5): Very special hotel for our 20th anniversary! - What an amazing place! Wished we’d booked here for two nights instead of another hotel. The room was stunning with an amazing view of the golf course. Fabulous roll topped bath in the room and walk in shower! The perfect way to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary! There was some bubbly chilling when we entered the room. It’s those touches that make this hotel so special. Great happy and welcoming staff and fabulous breakfast! Would love to come back. Thank you x

- Gerard (9/5): Superb - Very nice hotel. Very comfortable with staff extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast starts at 8.30am on Saturdays. We were expecting 7.30am to be the very latest. Disappointing...
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Britt (8/5): Very good -
- Jonathan (8/5): Beautiful location and friendly staff - Lovely view of the golf course and countryside from my room. Very cosy and quaint feel in my bedroom (although also modern enough). Very helpful manager/receptionist upon arrival and also in the morning at breakfast. Very nice staff.
Wonderful terrace for a drink - great for taking in the views. A large group arrived when I was having breakfast - I think the staff could have pre-empted/planned this a bit better, as I was alone and then suddenly surrounded by a group of about 40 men and a cacophony of noise while eating. They were apologetic, however, and offered me a takeway coffee when I left.
The receptionist was also apologetic about the lack of dining/restaurant facilities in the evening - the kitchen wasn't available and this isn't necessarily clear before you book. It wasn't a major issue, however, as you can also order takeway and the town is not that far by car.
- Bunkroombuddy (9/5): Superb -
- Obi (9/5): Excellent place to stay if playing golf and looking for an overnight start. Would highly recommend - Very comfortable. And nice

- Joanne (10/5): Would stay here again if ever in the area - Stayed a Thursday night (nice and peaceful) as we were in the area for our daughter's wedding the following day.
Beautifully decorated entrance hall/communal rooms with interesting artwork. Lovely staff.
Our superior room on first floor met our expectations and had views over the golf course (my husband a keen golfer so enjoyed watching the players teeing off early morning) Comfortable bed and good breakfast choices. can't think of any negatives
