- Cheryl (5/5): Basic, budget but clean & tidy. Good enough for 1 night. - It was conveniently located and easy to find. It has a large comfortable lounge area and secure cycle storage. The breakfast price was £6.50 for a bit of toast & cereal, no hot food available, which I thought was expensive.

Location good in a sense that in the center of Port Charlotte with it's services nearby (restaurants, shop, distillery). Town itself also very cozy and pleasant. Room itself was ok. Enjoyed my stay here a lot! Nothing really. Quite far from the ferries but that was ok.

- Susanne (10/5): Traumhafte Tage auf Islay - Reinkommen, wohlfühlen: Das Hostel ist sehr gemütlich, bequeme Betten, tolle Duschen, sehr saubere Toiletten, die Küche extrem gut und praktisch ausgestattet, mit Meerblick beim Abspülen :-). Der Aufenthaltsraum ist kuschelig, es gibt unendlich viel Infomaterial, Fotobücher, Spiele zum Leihen. Direkt vorm Hostel eine schöne Sandbucht, daneben die zerklüftete Felsküste mit spektakulären Wasserspielen, je nach Gezeiten - ein Naturspielplatz für (größere) Kinder! Die Herbergseltern Lorna und Karl sind fantastisch: freundlich, hilfsbereit, super organisiert und trotzdem immer Zeit für ein kurzes Gespräch plus hilfreiche Tipps. Wir kommen wieder und dann bleiben wir länger! Es war alles super.

Une mention particulière en plus pour le tri des déchets, avec même un compost, et l'incitation à la réutilisation des sachets ou objets laissés par d'autres voyageurs. De plus, nos hôtes, Luna et Karl (désolée, pas certaine de l'orthographe) sont attentionnés, à l'écoute et plein de bons conseils. Merci à eux d'avoir pu rendre ce séjour si hors normes ! Grâce à eux, tous les voyageurs étaient attentifs les uns aux autres, avec une ambiance bienveillante et respectueuse. Merci !

- Karen (10/5): - The staff are angels on earth! Karl helped me fix a ferry/bus schedule problem and saved me from being stranded across the island in the dark. Lorna saved me from another transportation oversight I made, connecting me with a taxi driver that kept me on schedule. Without them my whole trip to Islay would have been a disaster, but instead, it was wonderful! Oh, and the hostel is lovely, clean, informative, and peaceful.

I also met a Frenchman who was staying in the bed above me who I stayed with in a hostel in Australia when I lived there. Nothing , except for a couple of heavy snorers which made it difficult to get to sleep, though when you are staying in a dorm it is to be expected.

Le service du petit déjeuner est d'un très bon rapport qualité / prix et nous avons pu le prendre le second jour sans l'avoir réservé. La présence de lavabos dans les chambres est un plus. Les sanitaires sont propres et les douches très bien conçues.

Great views from the kitchen and hostel overlooking the beach and lighthouse. Lovely and accommodating staff. Comfortable common room for a big group. Rooms were cold, but there was a heater that could be turned on. It was difficult to negotiate this with others in the room.
