Guest Reviews
- Pam (5/5): - The hotel is very old and could use some upgrades.
- Nick (10/5): Friendly staff - Accidentally the motel was bookable while it was still closed for the season. We called when we arrived and they booked us another motel for the night, all good and friendly
- Carolyn (7/5): Our stay was fine, regardless. - Need more blankets, luckily we travel with an extra one.
Bathrooms, while clean, are uncomfortably small.
- Lisa (10/5): - Water pressure in shower could be better
- Ron (9/5): - couldn't find breakfast, however.
- ELISABETH (10/5): Très propre et accueillant. - L’aspect rétro. L’accueil. Les conseils pour aller manger chez Brady’s. (Qui est super !)
- Martin (10/5): C’était super - La localisation près de tout , restaurants , boutique , bars. La propreté , les employés souriants Rien
- shaun (8/5): -
- Lucille (8/5): We would stay there again in the future. - We liked the proximity to the downtown area. Air conditioning was fine. Cleaniliness was great. The shower is too small and outdated. Not enough water pressure.
- Susan (1/5): Could not recommend less. - The staff member working the counter when we left was very nice There was hair in the shower, musty smell. The walls are so thin that we could hear the full conversation of the couple that came into their room loudly at 0200 and the neighbor on the other side coughing. The hard no refund policy is quite telling of quality. We left a day early because we were unable to get any sleep the first night thanks to the shared wall with a very loud couple in the middle of the night.
- Anette (5/5): - Günstige Lage, nett altmodisch, Blumen etc. außen, Kaffee, Kühlschrank etc. in der Rezeption Rezeption unbesetzt, Zimmer sehr klein, Betten unbequem, Bad ungeheizt und z.T. schlecht funktionierend
- Mark (8/5): Great place. Staff very nice - Close to everything in Boothbay.
Walked almost everywhere Stayed in the room with all the steps up to room
- Ed (9/5): -
- Joe (6/5): - Truely 50s motel. The room was in good condition, but no place for open luggage. Not enough leg room to sit on the toilet, had to sit at an angle. Ran out of hot water.
Also, checked in after 5PM. Note on office to use PIN and open lock-box to get room key. Did not have PIN, called number on office door, mailbox full, sent 3 text messages with no response. Finally got lock-box from another room occupant. After further checking, found that I did get a text message from the motel earlier with the PIN code.
- Rachael (8/5): - Very nice little place. Charming and quaint. Very close to town and the harbor. If I return to Boothbay in the future I will certainly stay at Mid Town again.
- PHILLIPS (10/5): - classic 50's motel-- simple, but well preserved, with good management and helpful staff.
- Marion (5/5): Change Motel Owner - in die Jahre gekommen - - Bathroom - Personal check in .. noise -- in die Jahre gekommen..
- JANIS (6/5): - The room was clean and area quiet. However the room was very small and if you’re a large or tall person you probably don’t fit in the shower and if you sit on toilet your knees will hit the wall. Staff pleasant.
- floyd (8/5): - Small bathroom
- Vezina (10/5): - Staff were great and rooms were clean and comfortable! Close to downtown and price was right! Toilet was too low.
- Tia (10/5): - Only issue is that the walls are very thin and you can hear the people next to having a conversation and snoring etc.
- Emily (10/5): - A quick walk to the restaurants and shops
- AnaRita (5/5): - The bathroom was so small. They could make improvements that would make a huge difference. The carpet was dated and smelly which made us not feel comfortable or that the room was clean even though they had cleaned it well.
- Kristine (6/5): - Bathroom floor was sticky
- Theresa (9/5): NA - NA NA
- Janet (6/5): - I would have liked to see a human in the office at some point during the day. When I rang the bell on the desk, there was no response. One of the cleaning staff was very helpful, and resolved 2 issues I found with the room. The bathroom was sub-par. Tiny. The shower is the size of one in a small RV. Best thing about the place was the location.
- Beckie (10/5): - Rooms and bath are small but perfectly acceptable and cozy. Real 50’s motel feel.
- Michelle (10/5): 50s motel - This motel was perfect for our stay. The room was small but charming. Coffee is available in the office which they keep open for guests and the trolly stops at the motel and will take you on a guided tour of the area or just save you some walking. The shower is very small and I recommend you bring your own soap but other than that this place is perfect for a romantic get away to Boothbay
- Robin (10/5): -
- Paul (6/5): - Paper thin walls, loud heater. Bed was good.
- Kathy-Jo (10/5): Timeless - THANK YOU!! I enjoyed my stay. This time it was only one day, but next time it will be longer. The staff was very friendly and polite. The room was clean and fresh scent. It would be awesome if there were small refrigerators in the rooms.
I LOVE the atmosphere and the timeless charm. Thank you for not making it modern and commercialized.
I am looking forward to my next stay.
- Kathleen (8/5): Stay in Boothbay Harbor - We had a small and comfortable room that was decorated in 50’s style. Room was pet friendly and there was a nice space to walk her on the property. Would stay there again. It was reasonably priced for the area and walking distance to shops and restaurants.
- Nancy (6/5): 50s Motel - It was interesting.
- Valerie (4/5): Mid-town is not even MID! - Property is very dated with old colonial style furniture, though my king bed was super comfy. No refrigerator in the room. The tiny shower stall in the tiny bathroom had a horribly stained, moldy shower curtain which I had to ask twice for a replacement. I’m pretty sure the staff would not tolerate such a shower curtain in their home, still it seemed like an excessive request. Then the bathroom sink plumbing failed and I spent 3 of my precious vacation hours waiting for a plumber (they insisted I be present) only to be moved to another motel they own in the area since the sink issue could not be resolved. I ended up just cutting my vacation short. It was very unpleasant and I do not recommend this motel. The manager was very defensive about issues instead of admitting it was not up to par.
- Mary Ann (8/5): - Clean, quaint, close to downtown. Very retro feel, staff very nice. Good price. Would stay again.
- Nancy (6/5): - Cheap and easy. Could use bathroom updates
- Don (10/5): - Affordable and close
- theresa (5/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): - Cute 1950's vibe!
- Richard Edward (10/5): Perfectly suitable - Great location Decent accommodations N/A
- Elizabeth (6/5): It was real shame that we had such problems getting into the property and thought that we’d be sleeping in the car. Beca - The property was in a good location and although the room and bathroom were small, it was very comfortable and quiet with very convenient parking. We arrived within check-in hours but there was no one at the desk and we had no means of getting into our room. We arrive at 8.15pm and weren’t able to get into our room until 10.15pm and that was only because we met a bar tender in the town who knew that the owner owned 2 other properties in the town, so we were able to speak to someone FINALLy and be given the access code.
There was an emergency phone number which we phoned numerous times and the message box was full.
There manage did NOT apologise at all for any of this stress and didn’t give us any sort of discount …..NOT good enough.
- Linda (7/5): Excellent location. Comfortable stay - Location, friendly staff, comfortable beds Small bathroom
- alexander (10/5): - The motel is small and beautiful. Love the rustic feel and
- Verified traveler (8/5): Location, location, location - Wonderful location - an easy walk to downtown Boothbay Harbor. Quaint, comfortable room with a good bed, towels, and - despite what some reviews have said - air conditioning. The bathroom is tiny as others have noted.
- Karen (6/5): - Nice 1950's theme outside with flowers and parking. 2 block walk into town. Check-in host was very nice. Nice king size bed.
Unfortunately the carpet was quite dirty and the room had an old smell like it had not had a thorough cleaning in a very long time. I would only stay again for the ability to walk into town.
- William (5/5): - No hot water
- lorraine (6/5): Good location - Location was in walking distance to center of town. Bathroom needs major updating. Very small. Toilet did not work well, always needed to flush several times. Shower stall extremely small. Water not hot enough.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - The motel was convenient to down.town.we loved getting up in the morning and walking down town to the stores and restaurants.thmotel was very old
- Maria (3/5): We would not recommend it and will not stay there again. - Convenient to town Compared to other options, it is not a good value. No continental breakfast, room not well cleaned, and staff not available to check in during normal check in time on a Saturday. The bathroom is awkwardly small. It felt really overpriced and was not an enjoyable stay. The new owner/ management company was not available when we tried to reach them.
- Tatia (10/5): - Quaint 1950’s motel in the heart of Boothbay Harbor! Close to everything, very walkable.
- Edward (6/5): - A very load tv playing until 1 am coming from the office area.
- Cyndi (10/5): - The owners continue the decades-old tradition of offering a quaint, comfortable motel with a 1950's feel, at very reasonable prices. The staff is always very friendly, accommodating, helpful in many ways. The location is superb, set within a minute or two walk from the center of Boothbay Harbor. Mid-Town Motel has become a cherished place for visitors who have been returning for years.
- Cosamano (8/5): We enjoyed our visit to Boothbay. The hotel was really close to everything. - Mid-Town Motel was in a good location and walking distance to the harbor. The room was very small but clean. The office had a refrigerator and coffee maker and was open 24 hours to use any of these appliances. The housekeeper was very nice and always smiling.
- Ann (10/5): - Clean, very friendly staff and great location. The bathroom was small but clean. Walkable to town for restaurants and our boat tour. Never had to worry about parking.
- Heather (6/5): - Room is cute and location is convenient. Room service was nonexistent, we asked for new towels, the girl smiles and nods to me. We go out for the day and come back, she emptied the trash, that was it.
The shower pressure was horrendous!!
The beds are comfortable.
- Stephen (10/5): - It was convenient to downtown. I loved sitting on the porch It was a perfect getaway
- Michele (6/5): - The motel was very walkable to everything. Bed was comfy and check-in/out was super easy. Room was clean but dated and did have a musty smell. Bathroom was tiny & shower had no pressure.
- Koch (10/5): Love it.will be back next year - This was our third annual stay. It’s close to downtown and to the boatyard where we have activities. It’s a simple place that is spotless! The shower stalls are tight for a chubby person such as I.
- Daniel (5/5): Good enough for two nights. - Good location. Friendly staff when they were around. TV was user friendly. Didn't care for community fridge and coffee. Phone booth size shower. A lot of money for bare bones motel.
- donna (10/5): - Very comfortable great location. We walked to everything.
- Amanda (9/5): Superb -
- Brittany (5/5): Passable -
- Deborah (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (8/5): My Stay at Mid-Town - Pros: Room was clean and comfortable. Good bed and pillows. Great location to downtown Boothbay and harbor. Quiet at night, good for sleeping.
Cons: Shower drained slowly. The water backed up to about 3/4" of an inch. Also, when I went to close the curtains, some sort of trim piece fell off.
- Teresa (10/5): - Cute retro motel within walking distance of the harbor !
- Dawn (10/5): - Great location quaint and clean.we. Will stay there again!!!!!!
- Michelina (10/5): We would 100% book here again. The staff was polite and friendly. Location was fantastic! And the bed was super comfort - I loved the location of the property! Super close to the shops and restaurants that we walked everywhere and didn’t have to worry about parking The shower was fairly small and the bottom lining was coming undone
- wendy (8/5): - It was very close to everything.
Walls very very thin and you could hear the people in the next room.
- Mark (10/5): - Management was wonderful and accommodating. Easy walk into town. Clean and well maintained. Highly recommend. Will stay again.
- Jennifer (10/5): Wonderful and cozy. - We loved the simplicity of the motel, the location, and the access to the office refridgerator and ice machine. Staff was wonderful. We'd definitely stay there again.
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Elaine (8/5): - Excellent location to all there is to do in Boothbay Harbor. Easy check-in. Easy parking.
1950’s hotel feel with everything you would expect from a hotel today. This being said, the bathroom is very small. A larger person may find it challenging.
- Cecelia (10/5): Quiet motel, easy walking to Harbor, restaurants and shopping. The bed was very comfortable!! - A classic 1950s ‘Route 66’ kind of motel.
Easy check-in, good location very accommodating host. Trusting Bathroom small with no counter space but expected in this type of motel
- Craig (8/5): - Cute, classic 50s hotel. Very clean very friendly service. We particularly loved having detailed written information regarding restaurants events everything you could possibly want to know about the area. We would definitely stay here again.
- Eric (8/5): - A quaint 50's demure setting.
The rooms were SO clean and had been updated, but still had the 50's warmth. Housekeeper gave us excellent advice for dining and things to do. Thank you!!
- Kathleen (10/5): - Pleasant, comfortable, accommodating and clean
- Gloria (10/5): Super clean, great location - The bed No tea, just coffee
- Emily (10/5): - We loved our stay here! Everything was clean and cute and so close to everything!!!
- Mark (10/5): - This was a great hotel for walking Boothbay. Great access to town. The bridge across the bay was a short distance and made for a good way to get around. Very clean, as well as being quiet, there was no street noise. The hotel is as advertised, back to the 50's. Bathroom was very small and needs some updating, but very workable. Great weekend stay!
- Suzanne (10/5): - Our stay was lovely, we look forward to our next stay there.
- William (6/5): - Clean
- Patrick (8/5): - Mid-town Motel was totally fine for my purpose: an economical place to sleep while in Boothbay Harbor for a wedding. People who are looking for a hotel/motel that has amenities or is a comfortable place to hang out will be disappointed. It in conveniently located to Boothbay attractions.
- Alexandra (6/5): Pleasant - Location is great for walking into town. Dog friendly. Shower did not drain. Not a lot of amenities in the room. Bathroom is definitely tiny. If you’re tall it will be a struggle.
- lisa (8/5): - This has been a wonderful stay. Although, this facility isn’t anything upscale, it IS clean, safe, and convenient. The owners are friendly and helpful. Love the location. I’d stay again
- Michael (8/5): - Exactly as advertised! 1950’s with all expected details a bit dated by current standard. Clean. Nicely appointed. Super-comfortable king bed with luxury feel linens and pillows. Bath linens and supplies on par for today. Would happily return. Walking to town and leaving the car behind was a real bonus!
- Kat (10/5): - We loved our stay so very much!!! We slept so well and felt safe & Secure. We loved how we could have a drink and walk back to our room easily. We hope to stay again some time and we will tell our friends for sure!!!
- Anna Maria (10/5): - We loved how management kept the original character intact whilst renovating.
- Cristin (10/5): - Such a lovely surprise to find high end bedding, towels and toiletries in this sweet, unassuming motel ! Yes, it's "old" but very well maintained, clean and comfortable. I haven't slept so well when travelling in a very long time, I should have asked about the pillows and mattress so I can sleep that well at home. The owner was also very kind and friendly when I popped in to brew a coffee in the morning. So convenient within walking distance of the entire downtown. We will return anytime we visit Boothbay Harbor !!
- Andrea (10/5): - Every was clean
- Salina (10/5): - This place was perfect! It was so quaint and like stepping back in time. The grounds are beautiful! The (free) parking is right outside your door. The bed and linens are so comfortable! The staff is so, so friendly! The location could not be better. I stayed 2 nights. Once I parked, I didnt drive until I checked out. The center of town is only 2-3 blocks away, a short, easy, 3-minute walk. I will absolutely stay here again! I loved it!!!
- Debra (8/5): - The bathroom was very small, especially for my very tall husband (think knees to wall). It lacked counter space for shaving kit and makeup bag.
- Paulette (9/5): Superb -
- jennifer (8/5): - The property was clean and conveniently located. The manager contacted me the day before my stay to let me know of water leakage in my reserved room. She asked if it was OK that she give me a different room, which i appreciated.
- Janice (8/5): Vintage, clean, convenient - I enjoyed my stay at the Mid-town Motel. Charming appearance on the outside of each room. The room was intentionally vintage, but also clean and comfortable. The shower was very small and could use some updating. I didn't like having to go to the office for coffee, microwave, fridge (especially the coffee!), but they had nice appliances in the office. Easy walk to Boothbay Harbor.
- Brian (10/5): - very unique.
- Stephanie (10/5): Great unique motel - The stay was awesome. The room was very clean and so cool! Loved the way it was restored to the old 1950’s style. The owner was so kind and helpful. Great stay. We would definitely come again.
- Debra (8/5): - I appreciate the 60’ vibe of the motel and how walkable it is to everything in Boothbay Harbor. Check in and out was very easy and convenient as well as the parking. The beds and bedding were very nice.
The only thing about the motel I didn’t like was that it has an old musty smell.
- Margaret (8/5): - The owner/manager was v helpful & friendly during reservations, answering all my questions. She also provides a nice list of restaurants as well as a city map.
This motel is what it says it is: a retro, 1960's no frills, roadside motel. I wanted a reasonably-priced motel within walking distance of the harbor as I was going on a boat trip & didn't want to hassle with parking in a Maine tourist town in summer & this motel has a great location, just uphill from the harbor.
The 2-twin bed room was sparkling clean but still had a slight musty smell but it was not offensive, sort of a "old house" smell.. The small bathroom was fine for me as I'm petite but a large person might find it confining/awkward. There are no refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms but guests are allowed to use the refrigerator/freezer, coffee machine & microwave in the office that is left open 24/7. The motel/grounds are small so this wasn't really a big inconvenience.
About my only complaint is the thin walls between rooms. I lucked out my first night & had quiet neighbors but the 2nd night, loud snoring next door woke me up & even with a white noise machine plus ear plugs, it was hard to block it out but I'm a v light sleeper.
I would consider staying here again as it was more reasonably-priced for the area & it was great not to have to hassle with parking, much of which was $10/day or more.
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional - We Loved it was walking distance to the shops in Boothbay.. The staff was excellent.
- Jennifer (10/5): Location! Clean! Happy. - Our go to stay whenever we are in Boothbay !
5 min walk to everything!
