- Joanna (8/5): -
- JAMES (10/5): Great Inn with character, excellent and responsive staff - quiet facility, comfortable bed, and just enough amenities to make it feel like home! Nothing
- Freyfogle (10/5): We loved the Inn! It was such a unique B&B experience, and Todd was easy to communicate with! - We didn't make it to breakfast, but I'm sure it was great. -
- Daphne (10/5): Wonderful! - The inn had an incredible vibe. We really enjoyed all of the amenities like the cash bar and pool table. Our room was wonderful and check in was easy, even without the staff there. It was a bit of a walk to the nearest train, but the bus systems were great for the area. Great location if you want to do both French quarter and City Park
- BlackCatBelle (10/5): Wonderful Stay in Quirky and Charming Boutique Hotel - The inn is such a fun place to stay. It's been lovingly and thoughtfully turned into a boutique hotel bursting with charm and interest. It's located in a beautiful, quiet residential neighborhood in the Treme with several restaurants and cafes to walk to. We met one of the owners the morning after our stay and he was so sweet and chatted with us while we waited for our car. You can tell that this place is owned and run by locals who love the city and the history of the space. Room was clean and spacious. Shower had nice pressure. The tiniest complaint, but it's really just a side effect of the set up of the space. Most of the rooms on the ground floor surround a common hall. So, while you're in bed, you might be awakened by someone playing the piano or having a lively convo outside your door. Just something to be aware of but otherwise the place was so quiet and relaxing.
- Hesting (10/5): It was a great time, the people and place were amazing! - Todd was great!! My mom got really sick on the last few days of our trip and had to be hospitalized. Todd was so helpful, he easily extended our stay and offered any help he could.
The inn itself was great!! It was very comfortable, the amenities were amazing and the public areas perfect!!
The place and the people made a hard situation so much easier, it was great to comeback from the hospital to a nice warm bed, a good shower and the feeling of being safe even though I was by myself in a unfamiliar place. The ONLY thing that possibly could be better is, I wish there was a tv in the room. Not that we really would have used it much. There were tvs in the public areas. Mom and I would have loved a night in with a scary movie but it wasn’t needed.
- Steven (10/5): The best stay in NOLA I've ever had - This place was awesome-Todd was the best host and the property exceeded all of my expectations. I will definitely be back any time I stay in NOLA
- Aaron (10/5): - excellent property.... Well maintained and cared for..... Quiet, Cozy, Convenient and Priced Right!
Book It NOW!!!!!
- Reagen (10/5): One of the coolest experiences with the best host. - This property is absolutely AMAZING! Todd has done such a great job of restoring the building & making it something truly special. It will go down as one of my favorite places to stay. Todd is a great host and makes you feel very welcomed. When we told him where we were eating, he was concerned we wouldn’t be able to get in without a dress coat/suit jacket & even went out of his way to help find a suit jacket for my husband to borrow. You can’t walk to the French Quarter (Bourbon St). You will need to pay for an Uber or Lyft if you’re planning to visit downtown.

- Neil (8/5): - Unique property. Very well done but could do with a little more house keeping ie; fresh towels. If you want to stay somewhere different from the average hotel then you will not be disappointed!
Location just a little too far out if no car but with a 10 min walk and a streetcar pass all is good. Todd the owner is extremely helpful.
- Patrick (10/5): -
- Sheri (10/5): Enjoyable! - Owner was great and welcoming, very inviting space with many options of entertainment and relaxation!
- Marty (10/5): We were pleasantly surprised at how cool this place is! The facilities and decor were fascinating and just plain fun! - Beautiful, quirky, and fascinating place!
- Tim (10/5): Florida review4x4 - Todd was a fantastic host. Very friendly and gave us a list of places to go and eat. Told us the history of the building and people. Very unique place if you have a group that wants to get away for a weekend. Older section of town but fun to stay in. Shower takes a long time to warm up. 🥶
- Michael (10/5): - Truly unique experience in a classic NOLA neighborhood! Fantastic communication and staff.
Highly recommend this little gem!
- Cooper (8/5): - Loved the creative mix of old and new
- Chris (10/5): - One of the coolest properties we’ve ever stayed at
- Verna (9/5): Superb - It was a unique place filled with a collection of interesting pieces. The rooftop patio was beautiful. Although I didn't notice because I was in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, there was no tv in the room. The sofa and chairs in my room were ready to be replaced.
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional - It's an old police/jail.........automatically awesome! The authenticity of the building is breathtaking! The New Orleans style and history...it's all there!!! The host was gracious and kind. I didn't like that I had to leave!!!! 😊
- Audrey (10/5): - Todd’s place was really homey with a lot of history. It was clean and felt like a home away from home. Todd was an awesome host!
- Leah (10/5): Book it! - Everything about this place is amazing. The history all over the place is beautiful. Todd is so nice and an amazing host! I will definitely book here again in the future.
- Charbel (9/5): Superb -
- Lauren (10/5): Amazing will stay there again - Friendly staff, great accommodations, great hospitality, loved learning the history of the building Nothing
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- MATHEW (8/5): Get locked away in this New Orleans hotel - What a beautiful and unique property! The room was very comfortable, the decor and condition of the historical building were exceptional. The owner trusts his guests which is fantastic, with an honor bar/fridge and open kitchen. We had issues with the front door security which required us to call him several nights in a rolw. Thank god for Facetime, he was able to walk us through the process (which was different than on the instruction pad). I would have given the place give stars across the board except we never had linen service/room cleaning that we could tell. We got towels upon request, but that was because the maid service was in the building at the time. These are small things though, and we will stay there again!
- Muhib (10/5): Hidden gem! - Amazingly restored property and the stay is truly unique.
- Sarel (9/5): Superb -
- Pierre (10/5): - This place is all right, all right, all right! The Old Jail is a gem, if you like original old buildings you’re in it for a treat! The Police Jail has a lot old charm and character, situated in Tremé / LaFitte neighborhood. Go to breakfast or brunch to Leo’s Bread or Flour Mood! Walkable distance to New Orleans Streetcars on Canal Street or take the city bus just around the corner! -Pierre
- Jessica (10/5): - Such an incredible place to stay. Todd was so personable and insightful, cannot wait to come back. Bed was incredibly comfortable and room was sparkling clean.
- Tyson (10/5): Wonderful place to stay - Great place. Great service.
- Michelle (9/5): Superb -
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional - The uniqueness of the Inn made it an absolutely gem. There were four of us visiting New Orleans and we LOVED our rooms. Todd was onsite to ensure that we had everything we needed and was kind enough to drive us to brunch one morning.
Definitely my favorite place to stay of the many times I've visited, New Orleans!
- Smith (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was excellent. Made to feel extremely welcome from our first contact with host, Todd. Facilities were great. Access to the kitchen. Communal areas were very comfortable. Really enjoyed the roof terrace as a chill out space after exploring the local area. Really friendly bar (Skeeta Brewery) a short walk away. Also, Flour Moon bagel cafe is good for breakfast. Would highly recommend Inn at the Jail House.
- Jacques (10/5): Exceptional -
- Will (10/5): - Really cool and unique place in a good area!
- Jeanne (10/5): Great stay! Cool place! - The Inn is really cool! Love the history, architecture and bed was very comfortable. Communication was great.
The neighborhood seemed a little sketchy, but as we pulled up to park and once inside we gave it no thought. We drove everywhere we went anyway.
- Christian (10/5): Best place to explore New Orleans and its people. - Staying at the Inn at the Old Jail in Tremé was an experience unlike any other. From the moment we arrived, the unique charm of the place was palpable, with each room telling a story of its rich history. The shared kitchen was fully equipped, making it feel like a home away from home, while the living room and roof terrace offered comfortable spaces to relax and take in the city vibes.
Parking was a breeze, which is a rare find in New Orleans, adding to the ease of our stay.
Located in the heart of Tremé, just next to the vibrant French Quarter, the inn's location couldn't be more perfect. The 30-minute walk to the French Quarters was always an adventure, allowing us to soak in the local culture and scenery.
For those looking to immerse themselves in the true spirit of New Orleans, the Inn at the Old Jail is the place to be.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional - The hospitality.
- Mollie (10/5): - We loved our stay at the Old Jail, what a place! Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we come back to New Orleans, which I'm sure we will!
- Christine (10/5): - This is one of the coolest places to stay in NOLA. They did an excellent job preserving the history of the jail house with thoughtful details and fun decor throughout the inn. The common area is spacious and welcoming like a big house, beautiful kitchen area, lots of tables and seats 3 pianos and occasional musicians popping on to play a tune. The roof deck is wonderful for enjoying a beverage and some chill time. The 20min walk to the French Quarter and charming. Todd our host is the best and will give you great recs. We'd definitely come back to stay at the Jail House!
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Todd was great. Loved the building, his display of books and badges. We would love to stay there again. Im sorry we moved our rental car.
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional - Todd is a great host. Super friendly and full of information.
- Jessika (10/5): Exceptional - Todd was a wonderful host. Everything was perfect!
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- Donald (10/5): Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in a fabulously restored historic building. - Very characterful with interesting history. Todd was most hospitable. Nothing to dislike.
- Anna (10/5): Cool and historic property, highly recommended! - Such an amazing place. A truly unique experience. We enjoyed everything about the Old Jail - the historic athmosphere, the cool interior and the hospitality. We got excellent recommendations for eating and music from Todd, who is the most perfect host. We’d definitely stay here again.
- Ron (10/5): A truly unique property that I will always stay at when I visit NOLA! - The property was very cool. A lot of interesting history. The staff was so friendly and helpful. It was kind of like living in my own, but much more cool home. About a 20 minute walk to the French Quarter. Also, close to French Street for the music scene. Seemed like a nice enough neighborhood. I felt safe. Great walking trails nearby and Tulane is a short walk away. I like a really dark room to sack out in after staying out late, but there were not black out curtains on the windows, but that was my only minor complaint.
- Paul (10/5): If you want to experience the real New Orleans you need to stay here. - The authenticity. A proper step back in time
Loved the whole arrangement.
The location was perfect.
Advice on where to go was great.
Facilities were perfect.
Hospitality was second to none.
Thanks. No complaints
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Interesting decor. Homey appeal. Loved the common spaces with a shared kitchen. Great place to mingle with other travelers. It is not within walking distance of the touristy French Quarter but we wanted that. Everything is a short Uber ride away. Enjoyed the roof top deck. Todd was an excellent host. Loved everything.
- Anonymous (10/5): The Old Jail was so cute and comfortable! Todd was also amazing to work with and gave us great recommendations for place -
- Ben (10/5): Perfect score on almost all fronts, especially charm, style and architectural details. - Unique, historical renovation. Communal kitchen, fridges and inviting social space indoor and outdoors to find a nook of your own to enjoy some food and drink. Pillows could use an upgrade.
- Sheila (9/5): A unique experience, highly recommended! - The stories behind it, a truly unique accommodation!
Todd is great, made sure to check up on the guests before their arrival, gave me a tour around the building, I got to see some other rooms, and he gave tons of great recommendations.
Everything’s super clean and tidy, guests are free to help themselves to things in the pantry and drinks in the fridge.
It is a unique and cool experience! It is away from touristy places, might be a plus for some actually, it’s not really a bad thing just a reminder for first timers that it could be of inconvenience.
- Kimberly (10/5): Exceptional - The location was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. It was an amazing experience. It was very clean. Bed was so comfortable. If you get the chance to stay here, do it!!!! Nothing. The stay was perfect.
- Martina (10/5): We definitely would stay there again and recommend this for an unforgettable stay in New Orleans! - This is such an amazing place! We just loved everything about it! Everything is very spacious and clean! There is a large kitchen with free coffee, fruit and sweets! Todd is an absolute outstanding host with a lot of great recommendations, very friendly and caring! The rooftop terrace is unbelievable! We rather stayed there at night than going to a bar. The neighborhood is very safe. There was nothing that we did not like
- Krista (8/5): - The building itself is beautiful, and has amazing historical charm. The host is very accommodating and friendly. However, it is advertised that there is a breakfast. There was coffee, and bananas. But there was no breakfast to speak of. So that was a bit of a disappointment. We were warned by our taxi driver that the area was not safe to walk around. The area did appear a bit run down. However, I couldn’t say for sure about the safety as we did not walk around we took an Uber everywhere.
- Andy (10/5): Amazeballs!! - This is one of the most unique hotels we've ever stayed at!
- Keith (10/5): Great place to stay. - The Inn at the Old Jail is exactly what it says. A fantastic place to stay with authentic feel and original features.
Todd our host was brilliant and very knowledgeable about the history of the building plus gave us very useful information about what to do and where to eat etc.
We could not really fault this place to stay with its quirky feel and historical vent which includes various memorabilia from its past use.
- Chad (10/5): one of a kind history - truly one of a kind property that has been immaculately restored. it’s part museum and part hotel with gorgeous decor and fantastic finishes everywhere. Todd was awesome and even booked some happy hour musicians for Friday night. Would strongly recommend this for anyone visiting since it’s a great location and a historic experience in one
- Vanblargan (7/5): Nostalgic - Everything! Well except what I didn't like. But this place is so unique and quaint. The rooftop deck is a great place to have morning coffee or an evening cocktail. The children yelling/screaming/crying and running around at 8 in the morning
- CHARLES (10/5): - The Inn at the Old Jail is a unique historic botique hotel, with tremendous character and charm. The host of the Inn is very knowledgeable about New Orleans and makes you feel like a guest in his home! We had a wonderful time in New Orleans and wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else next time we visit!
- John (10/5): Exceptional - First-class experience. The Inn at the Old Jail is an absolutely delightful place to stay that is only exceeded by the tremendous and incomparable hospitality afforded by Todd, the on-site manager. Gracious, accommodating, and a fountain of knowledge about the city and its music/food/entertainment scenes, Todd was undoubtedly the best guide and host I have ever experienced traveling. The Inn itself is an immensely comfortable and friendly establishment that doubles as a fascinating museum. Most importantly, the Inn functions within its community and not apart from it. Easy access to all New Orleans has to offer. Do yourself a favor and stay here. Nothing.
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional - Todd, he was awesome! He gave us good spots to eat and great places to visit. The place smelled very good and was clean. The set up and decor was very cool. Definitely will stay again!
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Todd (10/5): Exceptional - very unique place to stay filled with history. Todd was a great host and we will be back. nothing
- Shannon (10/5): - Very nice place to stay. Not the normal "hotel". It is beautiful inside and just the history behind the Inn. If we ever come back I would definitely stay here again.
I could see where parking could be an issue as it is in a residential area. We were lucky and parked right out front.
- Gallaway (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (10/5): we would heavily consider rebooking when we return to visit again - I loved staying at the property bc it was different and social media worthy. the windows get condensation that was dripping from the window on to the bed, but I don’t blame the host. he can’t control that unless he moved the bed away from the windows.
- Astrid (10/5): Exceptional - Good location in walking distance to French Quarter, very nice rooms and facilities and Todd is the best and friendliest host ever! Unfortunately it is a bit noisy.
- S (10/5): Exceptional - The building is amazing - so much history and it is appropriately decorated. Breakfast isn't served, but there are various cereals, fruit, milk, coffee, tea, etc. that is available. There is a shared kitchen that can be used, which makes it convenient to bring home left overs.
- Laura (10/5): - Cool, neat venue in an old jail, double Queen bed room was spacious! Todd, the owner was so sweet and responded quickly to any need and gave us a tour of the place to boot! Very nice that there’s a kitchen downstairs with cereal, dishes, snacks available and fridge to store drinks and leftovers! Parking was right in front, it is located in a newer part of Treme’ being redeveloped to be safer, we felt safe at that location but be careful any part of NOLA!
- Shpetim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joe (10/5): todd was great. the place is wonderful. - very unique lovely place
- Ctnomads (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dionna (10/5): Exceptional -
- david (10/5): - Everything was unique at this property and it’s a true gem! We appreciate the hospitality!
- Morgan (10/5): Beautiful stay in a history-rich environment! - Beautiful location, super friendly and helpful staff, great value!
- Nadine (10/5): Highly recommend this Inn. The owner, Todd, is an excellent host. - There was always fresh fruit, cereal, coffee and water available. For any other food needs we had to go off property or bring items in and prepare them ourselves. There's a fully functional kitchen available to guests. There are good restaurants within walking distance. Also there's a corner store nearby and a Whole Foods about 5 mins away.
The building itself is cool especially if you are a fan of history and preservations/renovations. It's about a 10 minute drive from the craziness of Bourbon St, which was perfect for us. Very quiet area, but close enough to the more raucous activities when you want that. Uber is a great and easy way to get around. It wasn't a problem for us, because we booked 2 adjacent rooms and were on the same schedule as our friends next door, but the walls are a bit thin so we could hear our friends next door talking on the phone etc. If, for example, the guests staying next to us were up late and being loud, while we were trying to sleep it would not have been great.
- Ann (8/5): Very good -
- Lisa (10/5): it was great - location was great everything was great
- Kelsey (10/5): - I can’t say enough good things about the Inn! The Innkeeper, Todd, was awesome! He took us on a tour of the Inn sharing all the buildings history. I enjoyed seeing all the antiques throughout the Inn. The neighborhood was quiet and away from the crowds, but only a 10 minute drive from all the action of New Orleans. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. I highly recommend this place. I will stay here again the next time I’m in town.
- David (10/5): - Very unique spot. Owner was very attentive to your needs and always making sure you are armed with information as you head out into the streets of NOLA.
- Andrea (10/5): Fantastic! - We had an amazing stay! Todd was a terrific host who was really attentive to our comfort and took time to get to know us. He gave great advice on places to visit and to eat. We loved the tour of this incredible, historic building, which is stunning. We highly recommend pausing each morning to enjoy coffee on the rooftop deck! We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay.
- Patricia (10/5): - Absolutely wonderful host! Welcoming, offered great recommendations and made us feel right at home!
- ROBYN (10/5): - Lovely place to stay, with very thoughtful innkeepers! Highly recommend
- Patrick (10/5): - The property is full of rich history. The owners are very sweet and accommodating and helpful.
- Pamela (10/5): - Slightly off the beaten path but worth it.
Owners take pride in the property and show it.
Common areas are extremely clean, very functional and thematically appropriate.
Bed was comfy with great pillows. Owners provide water bottles and snacks.
Would have to take me away in handcuffs to stay somewhere else.
Just a very cool place at a reasonable price.
Would stay again!
As for the tour!
- Phillip (10/5): - We had a terrific time and the Inn was fantastic.
- Ann (10/5): - The property was beautifully renovated. Love the deck on the back of the property!!!
- paul (10/5): Get away from the craziness of Bourbon St - Beautifully appointed Inn in Treme that was restored by Liz and Raul. Great place to stay if you want to be away from the rat race of Bourbon street and want to learn more about the local color of New Orleans. Walking distance to historic local eateries (Dokie Chase, Willie Mae's Scotch House, Parkway bakery), it's about a half hour walk to Bourbon St.
- Emily (10/5): - The owners are amazingly sweet and accommodating, and the property is unique and in a quiet area that's still walkable to the French Quarter or other tourist-heavy areas.
- Catherine Mie (10/5): - Liz and Raul are incredible hosts! They are so warm and go above and beyond to ensure your stay is the best possible experience! The inn is absolutely beautiful. I can’t believe I found this gem. Highly recommended if you want to immerse yourself in history and authentic New Orleans.
- Jen (10/5): Can’t Be Beat - I cannot say enough good things about Inn at the Ild Jail. I have stayed all over NOLA for years and it was by far the most comfortable and inviting lodging yet. I actually asked for a referral for the mattress! Will definitely be back to Liz and Co. Best hosts around!
- Jordan (10/5): - We loved this property so much and it’s so unique. Liz is amazing and knows so much about the area and the history of the jail. I was so impressed when we got there. The rooms are pretty big, bathrooms are clean and the beds are so comfy.
On a side note we are both military and left them with a patch from our MAJCOM. They have an awesome showcase of memorabilia for front line works and we wanted to add to it.
- Michael (10/5): - amazing history and amazing owners
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owners, Liz and Raul, were so incredibly welcoming, it felt like we were visiting old friends! This is a very unique and important restoration that was obviously a labor of love. The bed was super comfortable, and the fully-stocked commercial-grade kitchen was very convenient. There is a large, beautiful deck attached that was very relaxing in the later, cooler hours of late July in New Orleans. We will definitely be staying at the Inn at the Old Jail the next time we visit New Orleans, which we try to do every year. So much history is contained in this Old Jail, and we received a full tour with details of the restoration. We highly recommend the Inn at the Old Jail!
