Guest Reviews
- Anthony (8/5): - Lovely pub setting with very friendly locals. The room had everything you would need and more: small fridge, microwave, good selection of coffe/tea/water. Clean.
- Gareth (6/5): - No hairdryer .Antiquated shower (but nice n hot).Bed 6 out of 10 but all in all convienient for our visit.
- Michael john (10/5): - Superb service thanks and for making me feel welcome
- June (6/5): - no comment
- Jill (10/5): - Perfect for our one night stay. We will be back. Thank you.
- Terence (10/5): Friendly pub - Lovely accommodation pub very friendly
- Caroline (8/5): - The en suite bedroom was clean with all mod cons. outside the old coaching inn itself.Parking outside door. Service friendly but breakfast unavailable. Good value.
- David (2/5): I'd rather have slept in a tent - The room was cold and the inadequaste heater wasnt powerful enough.
There was a continual pumping noise all night - possibly from the pipes?
The toilet was that close to the wash basin, you struggled to get on it
The walls were that thin, you could hear the person next door farting
The only good point was the wifi worked well
Certainyly not worth £79
- Steven (10/5): - Very nice stay near to the British motor museum which we were visiting the next day. Would stay again if in the area
- Thomas (10/5): - For the money, this place was very good (not quite excellent but there is no 'very good' category).
It had a small fridge, microwave, en suite, smartish TV, comfy bed (foam mattress) and a supply of tea & coffee.
Space was adequate for two. Décor fine.
It was quite noisy on Friday night because the adjacent pub beer garden was well populated due to fine weather. Saturday night was less noisy. Also a small car park was just outside the only window which needed to be open due to temperature. The fridge sounded like a jet passing overhead but I got used to it.
I had no control over the shower head which liberally filled the shower room floor with water until I had mastered the shower curtain (the sort that sticks to you!) As for the staff, I spoke with one person once. Very friendly and informative. However, the soaking wet shower mat was missed by the cleaner and the decaff coffee not replenished. Very minor. Service otherwise was very good and I expect assistance would have been provided if I'd asked, but that wasn't necessary.
Unfortunately, breakfast was not available at the establishment (and the breakfast at the recommended Gilk's Garage café was, I felt, very expensive).
Overall, I was really pleased with the place. Nice village/town with pubs, chippy, post office, Co-op, church, café, etc.. Useful facilities were provided in the room. Car parked alongside. Relatively cheap.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good room comfortable bedeasy check in and out
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Dusty everywhere (even the pillows and sheets), floor needed hoovering too. Blind at window broken so people could see in and floodlight coming through all night as well as noisy from pub. Towel rail with bits broken off and burning hot with no way to switch off! Needs a good clean and refurbishing. No breakfast included - unlike advertised. The staff member was pleasant.
- Jaqui (4/5): u poor - Rooms needed updating and quite muddled furniture, toilet seat broken, no WiFi as wrong code in room, booked with breakfast no breakfast facilities no milk in rooms
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice friendly place with very good food. Situated in a very nice village.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good rooms with great bathroom facilities - totally recommend.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Stable.barn conversion. Rooms not rt angles so bed diagnl in room. Beams lots of cobwebs. Well stocked and clean linen. Bathroom needs refurb. Esp. Reskim bodged walls and old broken and holed tiles. Shower good. Dodgy mat. Curtain leaks with mould and stain.
Worst is noise. Walls not insul. And thin. Heard neighb. Snoring sneeze and cough. Front door side by side opened 2 plus 3 times in evening with staff coming back explag no breakfast available cos of refurb to pub and recent taking over.
This was not told to us. We were reimbursed a tenner. Did not use the pub.
This place is better suited to horses.
- Doug (10/5): - Fabulous proper “old time pub” friendly staff and customers. Sadly the weekend we stayed was the last for the pub as it is being changed into a tapas bar. What a shame.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location. Quiet. Good reception and very clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room itself was very nice, but as it was adjoined to a pub, the first night was very noisy with pub goers partying.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good value. Lovely staff. Especially Sandy who made us all a fab freshly cooked breakfast. Unlimited orange juice and tea!! Amazing value. Will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - First time at the establishment and really enjoyed it the room very nice and comfortable and the staff are extremely friendly service and the food was excellent
- Rhonnie (8/5): - Lovely place with some rowdy customers at the pub.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room grubby. Sticky on bedside unit, had to wash it off before we could put anything on it.
Bedding stained.
Carpet needed hoovering.
- Diana (6/5): Pub with potential but drawbacks. - Room is across courtyard from pub, so I hoped it would be quiet. However, Saturday night the pub stays open late, till midnight I think - there were two lots of noisy parties returning from the pub and this kept me awake till about one in the morning.
There is no double glazing on the window either. Also there is a strong spotlight nearby in the courtyard on all night, and as there are no curtains, only plastic blinds, this is disturbing.
As i was attending my friend's mum's funeral on the Monday, I did not want any more disturbed nights, so did not stay
last two nights, but stayed with my friend instead. !
The staff however very helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location in a lovely little village. Easy access to places like Stratford and Warwick. Room was a good size but could do with a bit of TLC. Housekeeping seemed to be lacking, room was a bit dusty when we arrived and the next day housekeeping had been in but not done much, didn't even make the beds. Beds were comfortable and clean. Bathroom was good size, shower was good but the cubical was a bit high up. The shower curtain failed to keep water in the shower. There were also some cobwebs in both parts of the room. On arrival we were asked if we wanted breakfast each day and were asked what time we wanted it. When we got there, it was not a set menu we were just asked what we wanted, I think I would have preferred a menu but this is just personal preference. The breakfast was lovely on all 3 days. Also at check-in we were told just shout if you need anything but we're not told what to do during the night when the pub was closed. In the room it did have what to do in event of a fire. Even though the rooms were next to the pub it was quite quiet. The only night we had some noise was Friday but all was quiet by 10:30pm. Overall the stay was plesent.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Gave a false impression of what facilities they were advising there was no restaurant room was basic
- Ian (8/5): - Friendly staff, pretty clean but a little 'tired' room and bathroom - shower curtain allowed water to leak on the tiled floor (even when careful).
Great English breakfast. Overall good value.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Chose it for the location. Didn’t let us know beforehand that they couldn’t supply evening meal, chef problems
- Verified traveler (10/5): - nice welcome room value for m9ney haf livley stay thankyou
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There were no evening/lunchtime meals as advertised. Despite making the booking with breakfast included was told that this would be an additional £5 per person per day ( this was not charged as the booking stated included). The room was clean but the bathroom could have been better. There was no facility for coffee at the bar as the machine was broken. The room had no wardrobe space for hanging clothes.
- Paul (4/5): Could do better - On arrival we were ask to pay even though we had paid on line, we had to show our booking form to prove we had paid, we were also ask to pay £5 a head extra each day for breakfast even though our booking form said that breakfast was free.. we were told that they had changed their ruling on the 1st June and the Hotel.com had not updated their site, the room was adequate, but We had a very disturbed nights sleep due to the room having light blinds (our room 4 also had a broken blind with one vertical strip missing) when the light in the yard is left on all night kept me awake until I eventually slept with the pillows at the bottom of the bed so that the light didn't disturb me( it was that light that I could get across the room in the middle of the night without light for the bathroom)...the bathroom was overdue for a refurb with the shower base having holes in the bottom and fittings by the sink where either a shelf or cup holder should have been, the light above the sink had no tube in it, all in all a poor stay and memorable for the wrong reasons i.e an empty durex wrapper in the top drawer of the bedside cabinet.
- Glyn (8/5): Great stay - Comfortable rooms in keeping with the price. Friendly staff who aimed to please.
We had dinner at the Hotel which was nice but menu very limited.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Hotel was first class, and the Owner/Manager was extremely helpful and friendly, and couldn't have been a better host for Guests.
Loved this hotel!
- Ian (2/5): Poor standards - I was here the same time last year and enjoyed a breakfast at 7.30 Sunday morning,so this year no chance till 8.am,so too late for me,so I had a breakfast for my tea on the Saturday evening so at least I got one,the rooms are pretty bad as you can hear the next doors breathing, and switches on and off, also in the bathroom,if you sit on the loo,you are nursing the sink,no joke who ever did these are proper cow boys, and I didn’t have the chance to get another place I was too late,so next year I will not be here, too expensive for a bad time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff very nice and room very clean and very comfortable
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Historically good building
Shame about the lack of updating and wardrobe.
Bathroom bit shabby. Bed very old.
Should apply for lottery money for updating such a lovely old place.
Shouldn’t let these places down they are a credit to the village. Staff very helpful and polite. Great breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent service. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Great food, evening and breakfast. The live music in the bar was great. Couldn't fault the stay.
- ray (8/5): - The room was clean and warm, as was the bathroom. Shower produced hot water , breakfast was good and the staff were polite.
- David (10/5): Lovely old coaching inn with reasonable rooms and - Great server at breakfast made us feel welcome.
The design of the bathroom would make it difficult to use for people whose smallest.dimension exceeds 16in/40cm
People over 6ft might find it difficult to fit their knee under the sink when using the WC.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was in the converted stables ( I presume) in a courtyard behind the pub. Room was fine, nothing fancy. On the Friday night I stayed, the pub's clientele got a little noisy and were easy to hear from the room. So maybe not ideal for families or those who retire early.
- Darren (6/5): Very dirty and noisy - Very dirty rooms. Room was not cleaned properly after the last guest had stayed there.
A lot of noise from the pub with people outside the rooms drinking and shouting until very late.
Wouldn’t recommend staying here
Staff were good though
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Small room...very uncomfortabe bed.....very thin walls
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good breakfast showers not operational staff unwilling to resolve
- Richard (10/5): Great country pub and hotel **** - This hotel/pub is in a great location and a great place to explore the local area, Staff are great and the food was fantastic, Accommodation was lovely and just overall what you would expect from a lovely countryside pub, Will defiantly be using it again,
- Richard (10/5): Great place and lovely food - Fantastic place and really friendly with great food and staff that really make your stay a pleasure,
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is lovely! The pub so modern but cosy and the room is gorgeous!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I found the hotel quirky and very quaint. As I suspected, I was in a converted stable! Very cosy.
- Sarah (10/5): - Lovely friendly pub/hotel. Very comfortable room and lovely great value evening meal. Great breakfast too. Would happily stay again. Very good value for money.
- Dinesh (4/5): Hotel in a small Village and out of no where. - One light in bathroom not working, most cheapest toilet papers. There were approx 5/7 rooms out side in open car parking, for brake fast you have to go to in a pub through open car park, no matter what the weather - Rain, Snow or dry 😐
I would never return back.
- hms (6/5): Nice room, shame about the en-suite - The room was fine but the en-suite was in need of a complete re-fit
- Gary (8/5): A good stay and easy to recommend. - Very easy to find and with a large car park. I checked in late at about 9pm. Check in was good friendly staff explained the wifi and breakfast times. My room was across from the main building in a small block. Spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable, a shame one of the pillow covers was torn, but 4 quality pillows were supplied. The bathroom was supplied with quality toiletries, a good shower with plenty of hot water. There was some noise from the bar late on Saturday night, but nothing that disturbed my excellent nights sleep. Breakfast was great, quality ingredients cooked fresh served with an excellent coffee.
Overall a good experience and excellent value.
- Shelly (10/5): Wonderful stay at The Swan - A wonderful stay at The Swan. Clean comfortable and friendly. Lovely food and cooked breakfast. Perfect will be returning soon.
