Guest Reviews
- Manja (8/5): - Ein tolles Naturerlebnis! Bungalow auf dem Hügel inmitten der Natur ohne Schickimicki. Sehr preiswert.
Die Familie kümmerte sich um das Wohl der Gäste. Der Bungi war einfach, aber sauber.
Unser Bungi hatte Meerblick.
- Edward (7/5): Nice and quiet - Its a hut with a bed and a bathroom it was exactly what I wanted and its excellent value, no frills no air con but the fan does the job. Also no fridge but I didnt expect one Its up a steep hill which isnt a knock just be warned

- Peter (9/5): Don't tell anyone! - Fantastic location on top of a hill in the jungle. Brilliant people. Very primitive bamboo hut accommodation, which was just perfect for me. Monkeys on the roof, monitor lizards outside at night, only tigers and elephants missing. Not for city softies. Obviously the lack of air conditioning, carpets, pristine bed linen, rolls royce pick-ups and Michelin starred restaurants.

- Marius (10/5): Great bungalows up in the forest feeling the ocean breeze, great value for money, 3 Min down to the beach - Nice location up the hill in sweet bungalows with nice terraces. No wifi in the rooms
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (7/5): Good -
- Karen (10/5): I wish I could’ve stayed longer! - This place was SO relaxing and wonderful. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean waves was soothing and I wish I could’ve stayed longer! The lady that checked me in was so lovely 😊 The wifi didn’t work, but I didn’t come to a small island to sit in the internet the whole time so it was ok!
- Mariana (2/5): Amazing view, but beware of rats - The view from one of the bungalows was amazing (not all of them), and the place was very quiet. It’s close to the beach, but you need to go down many steps, and part of the path is not well maintained. It’s a good option if you’re looking for a true jungle experience — including no hot water and air-con. It was not advertised that there’s no proper ceiling, so animals can get into the rooms. A rat woke me up during the night in my bedroom, and another guest told me rats had eaten his food and damaged his bag. I ended up leaving on the second night and was not refunded for the unused night.
- Ceciliac83 (9/5): Superb - The location to me was the best, you feel like you are in the middle of the jungle and you have the beach just down the bungalow. I was there on the low season and I was the only one, so peaceful! Great view on the sea l, you can just chill on the hammock in your terrace, listen to the sound of the sea and feel in complete peace.
The bungalow are simple but with everything you need and there are a lot of monkeys on the area that pass by sometimes. I loved it
The owner is really nice and always friendly and available to help. I would definitely repeat. To me was not a problem but yes, to reach the beach you have to do quite a few stares, and back up. Just to worn people on this. But the quietness of the place for me was worth the effort.
- Leroy-winston (10/5): Simply great - Simply great, great bungalow, great island, great host, great time.
- Stefan (10/5): Tranquil, easy time on koh Jum.. will be back! - Loved it so much! Easy beach access but still in nature. Friendly staff, wish I was there now! I loved it all!
- Lauren (9/5): A nice get away! - Loved being in the jungle and being able to hear the sea at night! Very rustic, which is my preference. Given the location, I was not comfortable going out after dark (up a rough hill). But I did love the location, so was sure to go to dinner early!
- Helen (10/5): We loved our time here & would definitely go back, given the opportunity - The Ocean view bungalow was amazing. I would definitely book this again. Lod, the owner, was really lovely. The “ocean view” a bit limited by trees, but this is not a problem, as such a lovely setting. Beware of monkeys & mice - don’t store food in your bungalow
- Helen (7/5): We loved it overall, a great experience - The ambience - feels really like you are in the Jungle! Lod, the owner, is lovely. Excellent value for money. The Ocean View Bungalow was the best! Up quite a hill - and down again to get to the beach! The wild animals also a challenge- don’t leave anything out as monkeys & mice are on the rampage!
- Jonas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Irmtraud (6/5): If you like it the rough way... - The location is pretty, if you don't mind stairs (we didn't), and down there is one of the most beautiful beaches of Ko Jhum.
The owner was very friendly, nice and helpful, she speaks good English. If you buy the ferry ticket from her, she will give you a free ride to the pier! Breakfast was good (the girl did not speak one word of English!), no lunch or dinner available. Well, the huts are not very well maintained and they are really basic and small. There is not even one cussion to sit on the veranda, not one glass... The bed is comfy and pleasant.
And: you better don't keep any eatables in your hut, if you don't want to enjoy some company during the night...
- Seweryn (5/5): Passable -
- Fiona (7/5): Nice location, nice staff, enjoyed our stay - The staff are very helpful. The breakfast is welcomed as there is no kettle or fridge in room, though a short walk down to either the road or the beach and you can find other food establishments. Lots of steep steps down to the beach, great but slightly difficult access really to a nice and quiet and long beach with calm warm water. The monkeys were fun to watch but naughty and would take things from balconies if guests left anything out, so had to be vigilant.
- Joonas (8/5): If you like nature, you like this place. - Short walk down the hill was the beach, the nature was all around, we saw monkeys, geckos and other animals around the house. The staff was very helpful and the location was excellent. The hike up the hill was good for our health. When sleeping in the bungalow, you started to vibe with the nature. I slept well in there and our sleep schedule started to follow the sun. Wake up early and go to sleep early. This is not for people, who need all the comforts of modern life, but good for those who want to reset their sleep patterns for example. The animals came in sometimes. The hike up the hill was good for our health, but bit much after a long day. :)
- Markus (9/5): Just perfect , I got what I paid for.... - Everything is just perfect here Nothing
- Deborah (10/5): Perfect ! - We absolutely loved our stay at Good Morning Bungalow ! It was perfectly located, the owner Lod was so lovely and helpful. We wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend this spot on Koh Jum.
- Martin (9/5): Superb -
- Maria (4/5): Disappointing -
- Catherine (8/5): Beautiful experience, a little remote but enjoyable - Beautiful experience away from the craziness of other islands, we really enjoyed our stay here. Close to the beach and if you rent a motorbike, close to other amenities on the island.
Clean, big bathrooms, close to nature.
Host was accommodating. A little difficult to get to, and no breakfast which meant we had to leave every morning, do not go in jellyfish season or you will be stuck for places to swim!
- Nothstein (1/5): Third world living conditions. - Practically nobody else there. Absolutely decrepit conditions. Minimal sea view.through trees. Treacherous long walk down to beach or road. No restaurant or snack shop. Tap water smells like kitchen trash. Trash burning a daily occurrence. Monkeys and stray dogs another daily annoyance. More or less like camping. Mosquitos, centipedes, ants. flies, and everything else. Found a snakes skin hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom. No fresh towels ever offered.
- Juha (10/5): Exceptional - It was perfect and quiet place to relax. Nothing bad to say
- Grace (8/5): Relaxing - The bungalow had a lovely balcony overlooking the jungle Very basic bathroom that did begin to smell
- Aronis (8/5): Very good -
- Lothar (8/5): All in all a good place to be and relax. And also there are only 4 cabins the staff is always ready to prepare food and - Nice Brise. Rustic with no Aircon, which we like. Good value, but you have to manage 140 stair risers to go up and down to the beach, where you have nice beach restaurants. This gives you the necessary daily cardio excessive. It is on the hill, edge of a cliff, but the view to the ocean is mostly blocked by big trees, but that’s nature.
- Janet (10/5): Exceptional - The bungalows were comfortable, clean, on the beach , staff were so sweet and organised anything you needed. I loved staying here. I recommend ❤️ Everything was great 😃!!!
- Joyce (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the accommodation and the monkeys coming to visit. At night there was no light to see the steps to the accommodation.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - such an amazing friendly and welcoming staff ! really felt welcomed :)
- Tiffany (7/5): Good - ended up booking at another bungalow for the night even though we’d already paid for this one
- Tiffany (7/5): wild monkeys on bungalow roof and all around the staircase down to beach - basic bungalows at the top of the hill with partial view of ocean. washroom is open top so it has plenty of aeration. steep climb of stairs down to beach. path is not lit so make sure you bring a light if you walk it at night. entrance to stairway from beach is very difficult to find at night.
- Molly (8/5): Beautiful, friendly, jungle, beach. - I loved it at good morning Bungalow, and being right in the jungle. My hut was right opposite a mosque, so the morning prayer woke me every morning at 05:20. Other rooms weren't as loud though.
- Francesca (9/5): Superb -
- Christopher (6/5): Fabulous experience - Quiet, secluded, close to beach and village. Super friendly host. A real jungle experience! Difficult access, primitive facilities.
- Sylwia (10/5): Perfect place to enjoy the pure nature and nice host. - The view was perfect.
They had a moskito protection over the bed.
Animals came in the night and we woke up with a big lizard on the ceilings :)
- Simon (9/5): Idilic Island Life near to good restaurants and shops - The property on arrival was spotless. Its location in Tingrai is perfect as it is central for both ends of the island. There are numerous authentic Thai restaurants in walking distance from the bungalows.
I had a Bungalow looking towards the sea and I think it was worth it as you can also enjoy time spotting the monkeys in the trees in front of your bungalow.
There is a short walk up to hill to the property and another short walk down the steps to the sea although the sea approach steps are quite steep.
This property and also the island in general are quite basic; it is rustic as is the island but there are a good selection of restaurants, stalls selling food, small authentic shops and a good minimart not far away.
To enjoy the island to its full I would hire a scooter as I did from the owner who was extremely helpful and very friendly. There is a fridge to keep you any food you buy cool at the entrance.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend if you want a back to basics and no frills place in an authentic Thai bungalow and I absolutely loved the back to basics friendly island life. The sunrises, sunsets, beaches and island life are incredible Nothing really.
Air con would be nice but is not suited to property as a wooden bungalow and each one has a fan.
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place fabulous people
- Tina (10/5): Lod is the best host and it is a beautiful place to stay! - It is great located! Beach, jungle and village.
- Daniel (6/5): Great views and seclusion but lack of peace of mind - great location close to restaurants and some shops
beautiful view the room wasn’t clean - lots of dust everywhere and spill marks
it wasn’t monkey proof - i had things taken by monkeys even though i locked doors and windows
after requesting a fix of the large gaps between the wall and ceiling, i was told it would be done and it never was tended too
i was offered cleaning, so i agreed to it - nobody came to clean
the bungalows are partially made of falling apart asbestos
Lod is a lovely host although she should stick to her word when confirming she will take care of something.
Generally the place feels unreliable.
- Marius (10/5): Exceptional - Everything A water boiler could be installed. Sometimes warm shower feels good even in Thailand
- Klicakn (10/5): Exceptional - This Is an accomodation just like it was before 20 years on Thailand. Authentic bungalows with just necessities. No warm water, bed with mosquito net , you don't need more when you are done there. The place is generally clean , but it needs a little bit tiding up. Especially that stairs to the beach. Probably it's already taken care of because I was there in beginning of season.
All of that little things that could bother you, you forget it when you get down to the beach. Maybe the best part of the whole island. You'll be hypnotized by some of the most beautiful sunsets in your life. Nothing. You just can't beat the price/what you get ratio with this one.
All the best Lud.
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional - One of the nicest places I have stayed in Thailand. The owners Lod and her husband are such lovely people.
I had booked for 4 nights but stayed a week. Lod cooked every night, mostly fish that her husband had caught that day. The barracuda green curry and barracuda with garlic pepper were fantastic.
I rented a scooter from Lod and she sorted out my onward travel. She took me to the boat when departing and picked me up when I arrived.
It was cool watching the monkeys around the place, they keep their distance, have the odd play on the bungalow roof but they go away if you clap your hands.
There is a mosque in the village but it's pretty low key and hardly audible over the sound of the sea.
The steps down to the beach are fine, if you have fitness issues then you just walk down the drive and walk around to the beach.
The beach is one of the nicest on the island with ample bars and restaurants. You can sit with a cocktail and watch the sun set over Koh Phi Phi. You can see the sunrise from the bungalows also.
So, my sister Lod. Thank you so much for this amazing stay. You and Tuna are such lovely people. You make a lovely couple.
I will be back one day for sure. Choc dee khap.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - Nice bungalow with a beautiful view on the jungle/ocean. Lod was very helpful throughout my stay and she cooked a delicious dinner with a freshly caught barracuda from her husband. I am deffinitely coming back one day.
- Reinhold (6/5): Overall a good stay. Facilities at the bungalows were more rustic than expected but we understand. - A quiet stay on a lovely island. The owner , Lod. Was friendly and helpful, fixing various issues as they arose. She also arranged our transfer to Koh Lanta. There’s a terrific cooking school at Pah’s Restaurant at Ban Koh Jum. The nearby restaurant, Halal, was excellent. Facilities at the bungalows were in need of upgrades. No food on site, although that was what had been previously positively reviewed. No wi fi. The steps leading to the beach could be swept, to reduce the chance of slipping. One section of the path was sloping, and dangerously slippery after any rain (I did actually suffer a heavy fall, luckily only left with aches and bruises).
- Maija (5/5): Passable - Incredibly kind host who was helpful with directions, bringing bags up the hill, and overall just a lovely person. I wish I had liked the place just because she was so wonderful. The location is also beautiful and some cool wind comes up over the hill, if you have strong knees the walk to the beach is very rewarding. I decided to leave without staying the two nights I had booked because I kept finding small spiders in my bed and felt I could not cool down enough in the room to sleep (the days were reaching 40 C with nights 28 C at best, and one small fan was not enough). Also, asking 500 BHT for 1 day of scooter rental is awfully expensive, and it was off season. I found a rental for 150 baht down the road. There was also nowhere to boil water for coffee or anything in the ‘kitchen’ or basic utensils of any kind.
- Evelyn (9/5): Perfect secluded easy-going lifestyle. - I loved every moment of my stay at Good Morning Bungalow. I had initially booked for 3 nights and quickly extended it to 6 (I’m even thinking of coming back). I felt at home on this island, largely due to Lod. She was very welcoming and kind, offering great insight into the area and checking in with me regularly. She also offered to cook me food as I was there during low season and there wasn’t many places around. I gladly took up this offer and the food was delicious.
I enjoyed the slow paced lifestyle on this island. The bungalow had everything I needed, a place to rest, shower and a desk on the balcony with an amazing view of the ocean. I spent a lot of my time writing there. Though there are many stairs to the beach, I enjoyed taking a slower pace on my way down. It allowed me to immerse myself fully.
Sunsets on the beach were incredible. I saw heaps of crabs, birds, monitors and monkeys. The monkeys were harmless and often acted as a wake up call in the morning, but I didn’t mind at all!
I enjoyed how secluded the bungalows were, hidden amount the trees, and the fact that this island is a great exercise in how to do nothing. Beach, relax, eat and rest. There’s not much I didn’t like.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - this place is amazing, possibly our favourite in all of south east Asia so far! Lod is an amazing host, she is so friendly and helpful and always a pleasure to deal with. we stayed in a bungalow with a sea view, which I would definitely recommend as the view into the jungle and Phi Phi islands beyond is stunning, and the breeze from the ocean helped keep us cool when the weather was very hot. I can’t recommend this place enough, it’s so peaceful we extended our stay but could honestly stay here forever, it’s paradise!
- Franzi (9/5): lovely stay for very good value, awesome food - Clean, basic bungalows, but they have everything you really need. Not too crowded, lovely and happy landlady, who is an excellent cook Tourists need to understand that monkeys are wild animals and shouldn’t be fed.
A normal fitness is required to get up the little hill and the steps towards the beach
- Chrissy (7/5): Good -
- Triin (9/5): Surrounded by wonderful nature - If you love living in the nature, its perfect! -
- Thomas (7/5): Good -
- Lorelei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Haj (9/5): Special location, wonderful owners
Special location, wonderful owners - We had a nice, somewhat older bungalow with seaview. Sitting on its porch and watching the sunset was a dream The bathroom was nice and very clean and everything worked fine. There was a big bed for 2 persons with very big sheets. The owner, Lod and her husband were super nice people who will help you with everything you ask them. The other personel helping in the restaurant are very nice too. No complaints. We rented a motorbike from Lod to visit the different beaches and places on Ko Jum Island. The island is a dream of tranquillity. Wonderfull still and not very different since we first stayed here 25 years ago. The resort is situated on a hill. We had a motorbike so for us, elderly, it was no problem reaching it. The beautiful
beach however can be reached by a steep very high concrete stairs. I found the descend dangerous and only used it once as i am not a stable walker... maybe for younger folks no problem. As said we opted for renting a motorbike to visit the beaches of which there are plenty on the island
- Valee (9/5): physical challenges - great view , value for money , super nice property owner and the staffs is just like a family . no air conditioning but there is no view that you can get in Koh Jum in my opinion other then this property . great view, super friendly staffs
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Isabel (7/5): remote basic quiet paradise island stay - very quiet and away from it all steep path up to the property
- Dan (10/5): Enjoy my peaceful time here . - Thé location , food and kindness of the owner . Not really .
- Noah (8/5): Very good - nice clean bungalow near the beach and easy to get to other places. host was really nice and helpful, rented us scooters and took us to the pier the way down the the beach is an adventure in itself and it’s easier to go by scooter. Monkeys also turned of the electricity during the storm
- Gaetane (8/5): Very good -
- Erik (8/5): Very good - Nice location with a good view. Take a bungalow with sea view, it’s worth it. The lady boss was very helpful and friendly. She drove us from and to the pier, even though we had to go very early. More comfortable chairs on the bungalow porch would be nice.
- Christopher (7/5): Good - The host,Lod picked us up from the taxi drop off and took our luggage up to the bungalow at the top of the hill.
The bungalow was traditional, very simple with a fantastic forest view. It was super peaceful apart from the local mosque,
Having said that I have heard much worse callings to prayer in my time! There was no wifi, although Lod arranged a connection for us when we arrived for a few hours.the steps to the bungalow very steep. The walk down to the beach 300 + steps.
The local cafe Halal Foods had wifi which we used when eating their excellent food.
Mosquitoes and bugs are always a problem in the tropics, especially in the jungle, so repellant and mosquito coils at night are a must !
- Bjorn (5/5): Passable - when was raining was dripping on the bed
- Rosario (9/5): Superb -
- Marius (9/5): Superb - If you like wild nature and wanna escape civilization, that's the place. No luxury yet everything comfortable. Traditional thai bungallow. Right from your terace you can watch see, jungle, a gang of monkeys in the wild (watch for your belongings) and a dog sized monitor coming by time by time. Few people, bungallows are close yet nicely isolated. Nice and cheap fishing arranged by the place owners. The owners are very helpfull. Cold shower only. But when its hot, not so bad.
- Meg (9/5): Little piece of paradise - Beautiful peaceful location, very friendly owner and lovely beach right on your doorstep. great value for money. Shower was very weak
