It’s one of those places where you feel welcome from the very first second. The staff is genuinely kind and takes great care of the guests. Saubere, gepfegte Zimmer mit sehr bequemen Betten. Hervorragendes, abwechslungsreiche Frühstück (da wird mit nichts gespart), excellentes Abendessen. Großer Pool und schöne, weitläufige Gartenanlage mit mehreren lauschigen Plätzen zum entspannen.

Harald (7/5): Der Luxus ist die Lage - Einziger echter Luxus war die sehr ruhige Lage mit Aussicht. Die Hotelanlage mit ihren im großzügigen Garten verteilten Ruheoasen lädt zum Entspannen ein. Unser Zimmer 205 war ausreichend groß für 2 Personen mit Gepäck mit bequemen Betten. Großzügige Tiefgarage mit ausreichend Stellplätzen. Dem eigenen Anspruch an an Luxus Royal Retreat wird das Hotel nicht gerecht. Vom Standard-3* Frühstück mit zwei Marmeladen-Sorten über gewöhnungsbedürftige Menüabfolge, oft liebloser Zubereitung der manchmal nur lauwarmen Gerichte (die sonst heiß serviert werden), einfacher Speisenqualität bis hin zu fehlendem Service am Pool. An vielen Stellen ist Investitionsstau erkennbar. Es fehlte irgendwie Leben im Hotel, womit nicht lebhafte Gäste, sondern genügend aufmerksames Personal gemeint ist, was dem Gast ein gutes Gefühl vermittelt. Auch bei der Abreise zeigte niemand Interesse an unserem Feedback. Ach ja, kläffende Hunde am Pool und in den Fluren würden wir auch nicht in einem solchen Hotel erwarten.

Lesley (10/5): Beautiful relaxing retreat. - I chose this resort for the location and quality of the hotel…and didn’t disappoint. Perched high above the crowds of Maspalomas…is a very quiet and relaxing retreat. The staff are very accommodating and the restaurant food is very tasty…with special bbq nights etc… The restaurant attire was a little less formal than we had thought…but still very nice. Would like to return.

alina (10/5): Encanto y calidez en cada detalle - Este hotel, en medio de la montaña, es un refugio de paz absoluta. Solo se escuchan los pajaritos y se respira un silencio mágico. Los clientes, muy educados, respetan tu privacidad y tu espacio. Me sorprendió lo relajante que fue estar allí. Además, Oliver, el monitor de actividades, es excepcional: empieza las mañanas a las 8, con una energía contagiosa, y sus visitas al pueblito son un tesoro, llenas de conocimiento. Nadia, la camarera, es un encanto, siempre atenta, cariñosa, como el alma del lugar. Todo el personal, desde la recepción hasta los chicos de la plancha,fue excepcional. Solo pude estar dos días, pero volveré sin duda. Como critica constructiva , el desayuno y la cena del menú cerrado se me hicieron un poco cortos especialmente teniendo en cuenta lo que ofrece el resto del hotel. Está orientado al tipo de cliente alemán que lo visita. Enhorabuena por esta experiencia inolvidable! Las comidas deberían ser más memorables, con propuestas más exquisitas, algo que sorprenda.

Vi havde ikke bil, og havde ikke mulighed for at købe drikkevare, snacks osv. der er langt til nærmeste supermarked. Aftensmaden er meget fine dining, dette var lidt problematisk indimellem. Poolen var meget kold, boblebadet var heldigvis varmt. Synes opholdet er dyrt, taget alt i betragtning. Værelset var ret slidt, afløbet dårligt så badeværelset gulv blev helt overfyldt med vand.

Sylke (9/5): A most relaxing holiday. - Food was amazing. Staff were great: friendly and helpful. I need to single out Nadia, who was extra helpful, caring and proactive. She is truly outstanding. As is Enrique! The view is stunning. Location is peaceful. Aquarobics in the morning was brilliant, but could really happen more often than just once a week. Comfortable and spacious rooms. The property is beautiful and comfortable. Maintenance needs a bit of improvement: the curtain in our room was starting to come of the curtain rail; the fan in our bathroom made the most startling noise when starting up. The plants in the atrium needed to have the dead leaves picked out of them, the plants in the pool bar needed some TLC. A five star hotel that is just starting to need a bit of TLC and attention, especially for the price one pays.

Jean-Marc (9/5): Wonderful hotel with breathtaking view - Human size property with great facilities, wonderful view to the south coast and extremely friendly staff. Breakfast buffet as well as dinner were outstanding throughout. We can only highly recommend. At our arrival at the hotel we got the great surprise to be upgraded to room including also an all equipped living room … but with no view and all the noise and smell from the restaurant’s kitchen.

Das Personal ist Weltklasse und man fühlt sich wirklich wie im siebten Himmel. Perfekt um den Alltagsstress zu vergessen! Mir fällt absolut nichts ein!
Thomas (10/5): Entspannung pur abseits des Mainstreams - Das Personal ist super freundlich aber nicht aufdringlich. Obwohl ich hier geschäftlich unterwegs war, konnte ich ein paar Stunden in den Urlaub eintauchen, und mich von dem leckeren Essen verwöhnen lassen. Die netten Menschen vom Hotel lesen einem quasi die Wünsche von den Augen ab. Im ersten Zimmer funktionierte die Klimaanlage meines Erachtens nicht ordentlich. Dies sind Dinge die passieren können. Mir wurde sofort ein anderes Zimmer gegeben. Dies ist für mich kein Grund etwas schlechter zu bewerten, eher im Gegenteil. Dies zeigt mir, dass der Kunde wertgeschätzt und ernst genommen wird, und es unterstreicht den hohen Qualitätsanspruch welchen die Betreiber an sich selbst haben. Vielen Dank, dass Ihr mir so herzlich ein paar schöne Stunden bereitet habt. Das nächste mal komme ich mit meiner Frau um diesen bezaubernden Ort in Ruhe zu genießen, und einen Blick auf die Fachmännisch und Liebevoll zusammengestellte Weinkarte zu werfen. Kate (9/5): Amazing, quiet, stunningly located, beautiful hotel. Fab staff too. Truly relaxing. - Super breakfast with wide range of food and super eggs freshly cooked however wanted. Amazing pool area and views. 3 nights half board saw 3 very different types of meal. One "Spanish" (but did wonder why this was special as it is the Canaries!), one BBQ based, one with several choices. The quiet and peaceful feel of it. Everything so great. Only thing was our room being hot at the end of March, causing trouble sleeping. But. On departure I expressed that the air-conditioning didn't seem to work well. I was told I should have told reception straight away. They were still in winter mode, so only heating was on, not Aircon. They could have changed it for us. So it was our fault, not theirs really.
Lodge12 (9/5): Relaxing, comfortable, delicious food and wonderful staff. - If you want peace and quiet, this is the hotel for you. It has all the ingredients for a relaxing holiday away from the crowds in beautiful surroundings. The staff were exceptional making sure you had everything you needed without being intrusive. A special shout out for Nadia and Damien in the restaurant and Begonia on reception. We have no complaints.

The breakfast buffet was really good (only thing missing was a really great coffee). We had fab weather in February (25 degrees and not a cloud in the sky) with no wind whilst it was quite strong winds down by the ocean. If you're looking for a few calm days away on Gran Canaria, this is your place.

Verified traveler (6/5): Nice place but won’t be rushing back. - Relaxing stay in a pretty location but over priced for what it is. Vegetarian food options are limited. Spa options are also very limited as staff not available all the time. Daily activities include one activity per day so one morning so yoga, one morning is a walk etc - these are not available everyday which is misleading in the advertising. Water only provided on day 1 and after that you are charged which is ridiculous given the base per night cost. Most of the staff are very nice but the cleaning service was erratic and far below the standards that one would expect at this price point. You need a car for accessibility if you are going to venture out. Nice place but won’t be rushing back.

The night we were there it was a BBQ but the steaks were poor quality and cooked on a hot plate not a BBQ - perhaps we just made poor choices - although that does not forgive the sides of overcooked broccoli and boiled potatoes!

While the staff addressed the noise after our complaint, it would be best to schedule such tasks during less disruptive times. Ilya (7/5): Check it out carefully before booking - The staff were extremely helpful and kind. They fixed everything and tried to accommodate for every need. It’s on top of a hill, in a very quiet area with great views. The pool was great. Hotel needs major renovation to be a 9.2 on booking.com! It’s ideal for people who want to run away into a mega-quiet and isolated place and not being disturbed. The place is extremely far from all the attractions. No way to get anywhere without driving a car for at least 20min. Very limited options for breakfast and dinner. We ended up having dinner elsewhere although we booked half-board.

Great relaxed ambiance to the hotel, and staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast superb. Evening meals were good, although not outstanding. As it is called 'Royal Retreat' I think we were hoping for an added level of opulence, but no complaints, it was a very enjoyable stay and we will probably return.

Neil (10/5): A little piece of paradise - Superb hotel. Fantastic service delivered by all the team. Friendly, attentive, nothings too much trouble. We were on first name terms with many of them. Great location. In the hills so very peaceful, with breathtaking mountain and sea views, but within easy reach of Maspalomas and the surrounding areas. Food was excellent. Fresh, tasty and well presented. We enjoyed everything that was served, pretty impressive as we stayed for 9 days. Breakfast was equally enjoyable. The restaurant service was unsurprisingly first class as well. The hotel lays on a range of daily activities, most of which are free. We particularly enjoyed the yoga, and the gym has panoramic sea views. Just a great place for a relaxing holiday in the sun. Being British we’d have liked tea and coffee making facilities in our room. Other than that given the opportunity we’d have stayed longer.

Even though the hotel is located quite far from the beach and main streets, but it provided so many services: tracking tours, massages, cinema, yoga, gym, tennis, pinning and many others, so we did not have time for burning our backs under the sun. The staff was very friendly and helped to find best fit for our needs. Nadya, who worked as wine guide, helped a lot to find best matches for our dining sets. Very enjoyable stay with excellent view and services.

Angie (10/5): A real oasis nestled amongst stunning scenery - The staff are absolutely amazing. It is like staying with good friends. They are obviously very happy working there and take pride in this beautiful hotel. They always take time for a chat. The hotel itself is very lovely. An amazing infinity pool with jacuzzi, everything spotlessly clean. There is also an open fire to sit comfortably around when the evenings get a bit chilly. The food was excellent. Nothing more you could need for the breakfast with friendly Sarah making sure you had everything you needed and even supplying extra cushions for me. Lunch also great and the evening meals were very very good, especially the barbecues of different cuts of meat and lovely fresh fish. Cannot fault it! I found the double bed too large and not a fan of two beds together to make one. A mattress topper may have helped. The rooms were enormous but the bathrooms out of proportion as they could have been much larger and included a bath tub. I also enjoy hotels with coffee and tea facilities in your room. There was plenty of space to have this but they didn’t.

The hotel and location are beautiful, and peaceful - only a short drive to the coast, but away from the crowds. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The yoga and other fitness sessions were great, and the pool is lovely (big enough to swim in properly too). There was a slightly unpleasant smell around the lower terrace at times. More vegetables at dinner would have been appreciated.
