In comparison to other hotel- the staff is not as helpful or friendly. Not much help with luggage forwarding, no one to greet you or ask if you need anything. However rooms were clean and amenities good.

- Otakar (10/5): Amazing experince, cannot recommend more. - This was an amazing experience we had in this hotel. Everything spotless, staff members very helpful and smiling all the time. Room spaciois, bed very comfortable, bathroom amazing. Location great, got off our shinkanzen train, the hotel is on the ground floor of the station (in Japan 1F); just follow Kintetsu line signs. Should we return back, this hotel will be our choice, cannot recommend more. All hotel rooms face the platforms, we were at the shinkansen platform and for me as a train enthusiast I could not wish for more. Although rooms are facing the platforms, you do not hear anything at all.

- Erica (8/5): - It was recommended I stay at this hotel due to its location in the Kyoto train station. While this may be convenient for others, I found it to be too stimulating & overwhelming to start and end my day. Additionally access to the hotel was confusing late at night although the staff did warn me it would be due to construction. Staff tried their best but language barrier was tough- I should have used google translate. I will say that the staff was very quick in responding to inquiries I made on Expedia and even left the hotel to try to find me when I was lost upon arrival. Room small yet comfortable, clean, tasteful & thoughtful decor with many amenities. Breakfast was vast but I think the price difference was $40 for breakfast so I wouldn’t choose it if that is the cost. Many thanks.

- Miranda (10/5): - It was good because it was in the train station, making it very convenient to access transportation. The hotel room was quite nice as well, featuring double sinks, tables and chairs, and comfy and easily accessible beds. However, to make a future stay more pleasant, I would suggest to provide much more food options at the breakfast buffet and for the sinks to be outside the bathroom rather than inside to make it easy for guests to wash their hands if someone is in the shower. Overall, I think that Miyako City Kintetsu Kyoto Station is a nice place to stay if you will be going out to explore the area often.

You need the subway because attractions around Kyoto are spread out. Lots of dining options in the station concourse. Reasonable cost and convenient.

- Theresa (8/5): Great location for those getting bullet train - We only stayed one night extremely basic room and small, but location is amazing as we were getting the bullet train to Tokyo next day. It’s right in the station were you get the bullet train.
- Richard (10/5): - Our stays are in the larger rooms which are at a higher rate because we will expend funds for the larger and more spacious rooms. Also our daily rates are based on bookings eight months earlier. Therefore, the rate for the room is less than booking one month prior to one’s stay.

- Andrew (10/5): - For a central location, in the heart of Kyoto, you'd be hard pressed to find better. Situated in the railway station itself, it offers everything you need for a convenient stop off point during transit, to a long weekend and beyond. The staff and facilities are excellent and, although my room wasn't that big, it had everything I needed. The free lounge voucher is a fantastic service, especially if you have a late onward journey on the day of departure. Breakfast offers a reasonable selection of food an drink. The location is stand out, being in the heard of the station, with all the amenities it has to offer. Fantastic!

- Steven (10/5): - Being literally inside Kyoto Station certainly has it's perks. It is extremely convenient as a home base for travelling around Kyoto. If its raining you can still hop onto a train or bus without feeling a drop. Plenty of food, shopping, a few temples and the Kyoto Tower are all within a few blocks. I will definitely stay again if I'm ever back in Kyoto!

- Gabino (10/5): Kyoto best location - My wife and I had a delightful 3 days in Kyoto and had a lot to do with the Hotel accommodations. We will highly recommended also for all the benefits of being there at the Train Station at the tip of your fingers. Great restaurants, High End stores and next to the Hop on Hop Off depot. It was a pleasure.

- Cierwen (10/5): - The hotel is right at the Station giving easy access to trains and the excellent shopping and restaurant mall, including a convenience store that stocked milk labelled as low fat and tea bags of black tea for an Aussie style tea guzzler. The hotel also had a rule that housekeeping would not enter your room unless you gave them permission by way of one of three different magnetic cards on the door. A great way to protect privacy. They needed a fourth for please empty the rubbish bins, so that towels didn't need to be replaced and beds remade every time you needed your bins emptied, but that is a minor issue.

Located actually inside of the train station, you couldn't want for better conveniences and so quiet, you'd never guess that there were trains & thousands of people passing by! - SENG-CHEE (10/5): - The best parts about my hotel room? really strong shower - my expensive Rome room had a really pathetic one warm toilet seats - 👍 kettle - you’ll be surprised how many places don’t have one or one that’s as powerful and keeps warm buckwheat pillow - very firm but oddly comfy good spread at breakfast housekeeping is very thorough and clean - this is something you can’t take for grant bad parts? Well language is still a challenge, I know they are trying but it was not easy especially when I wanted a ride to the airport with a proper infant seat I’m ok with the sound from the trains and it’s really soft, lulled me to sleep actually but some might be very particular all in all, good value for the price I paid a few months back a solid 8/10 or more
- Sin Yi Jeremy (8/5): - It is super near the kyoto station, but it took us quite some time to find the right direction. Room is typical Japanese hotel small size. Still ok for us. Bed pillow is small. Bed might be hard for some. Complimentary breakfast is ok. We ate once only because we need the stomach for kyoto food on other days.

Only familiar with premium twin rooms which are spacious enough two larger suitcases. We use Kyoto as a base hotel ( t to 10 nights) and our trip is 20 over the past 20 years.

Breakfast buffet was good with some variety day to day, but much of it does not change. Little pricey at 1800yen, but only $12USD with exchange rate at the time. Plenty of food option around hotel in the station. No restaurants in the hotel, except breakfast buffet.
- Joanne (10/5): Convenient to station - We booked this location primarily because we thought we might be using it as a base while traveling to other areas. We did not end up doing that. If was relatively far from the tourist sights, so we rented bicycles. This worked our fairly well. If you stay here, don't neglect checking out the new station that faces north, and go to the sky gallery. Beautiful view and cool light shows.
- Richard (10/5): - Liked-location, spacious for premium twin at 214 square feet), layout of the room is excellent, rate if reserved 8 months in advance is reasonable, three elevators, windows and shades to exterior, spacious seating in lobby, very smart to shift entrance and exit to front desk depending on time and demand, voices for room make up/cleaning and speed is excellent, and card security for elevator. Dislikes - luggage forwarding service is below average, staff fluency in other languages is limited, and consider tighter security for elevator card.

The sleeping arrangement was extremely uncomfortable and resulted in sleep deprivation. Understandably the mattresses in Japan are hard but in this hotel the mattresses were extremely hard. Back pain and tiredness during our stay at Kyoto. Also very small room which was a minor thing. Positive side, close to the JR line.

- Robert (8/5): Good Location Bad Service - The location is perfect as it was situated in the Kyoto Train Station however the staff was not very helpful mainly because they were not able to speak or understand English. Communication was a problem. As an example, the check-in line was long and the receptionist was not too friendly as he tried to process you out quickly. He couldn't answer questions and kept saying sorry but really didn't mean it.

- Mark (10/5): - Very convenient for rail services and surprisingly quiet considering the location. Decent size rooms for a major city in Japan within a railway station. Beds are firm. Lovely calm and quiet atmosphere as you enter the hotel. Professional and helpful staff. Excellent buffet breakfast with a whole range of Japanese and European choices.

- Linda (8/5): - Not sure how to rate property exactly because room was a bit small but workable for 2 people. Closet space was very small and there was no dresser to put underwear, socks, etc. in. It works but I am in general use to a hotel room that has a little bit more space and with a dresser. Hotel was very reasonably priced and included breakfast. Staff very kind and helpful. Hotel is very soundproof because I couldn’t hear the racket going on outside the window with all the rail trains coming and going. Not use to sound effects while using the toilet or the warm toilet cover.
- Jasmine (6/5): - The receptionist who checked us in was fantastic, very professional and friendly, and the electronic check in system was fast and efficient. We had issues trying to contact reception from our room after that though - they just wouldn't pick up the phone for ages until eventually they finally did and then they couldn't understand our request, so we had to go to reception and ask in person. We couldn't purchase breakfast coupons to eat in their restaurant unless we had chosen the breakfast option when booking our room- something to take note of if you plan to have breakfast here. The room was an ok size but there was no room to sit and eat at a small table - the bathroom was a fairly decent size however, and there were plenty of toiletries available if required, of which they restocked every time something was used. We loved the cleaning staff - they were so friendly, always saying good morning, and thank you - an older lady who was perhaps the manager of the cleaning team, was a real joy and a total asset to the hotel, she always had us smiling whenever we crossed paths with her. The hotel itself is in the actual train station which can get very busy, but is fantastic to catch trains here there and everywhere. There are also a plethora of shops and different eateries. I'd say this is the perfect hotel for the avid traveller who does not want to spend a lot of time in a hotel room and wants to get out exploring all day every day- it will fulfil these needs.
- Chris (10/5): - The only issues I had were an additional Kyoto tax that had to be paid separately from my booking here on Expedia. I believe it was $1.58 (approx. ¥200) which I could have paid in cash but the staff were trying to offload much of the check-in process to their all in one automated device which didn't take cash. Annoying as I was tired and wanted to get to my room and lie down. A coupon for a free drink in the lounge from 1 to 5pm was included but I was staying for only 1 night. Checkin was at 3pm and checkout was at 11am so I missed my 2hr window. Similarly, there is a strange practice of having to book a ticket to the next day's breakfast at the front desk which wasn't quite explained to me but when I attempted to get a ticket on the day a lovely young lady at the front desk ran to the lounge and got a ticket from breakfast staff ran back to the front desk and sold me the ticket so I could eat. A quick mention during my 3 weeks in Japan every hotel had trainees on staff. My guess is this was all part of a hiring phase as Japan opening up was fairly recent. Take my criticisms with that in mind. The room was great by japanese hotels in this price range. The bed was a real mattress and despite being a little firmer than I like and being next to the 2nd busiest railway station in Japan, pretty quiet.
