Guest Reviews
- chantelm266 (10/5): Beautiful accommodation in beautiful surroundings - Our Host, Alison, was wonderful and completely made our stay. Very friendly and attentive. Bedroom was really nice. Breakfast was tasty and set us up for a day of lovely sightseeing around Lossiemouth, a beautiful location.
- peasty74 (10/5): Very enjoyable stay - Highly recommended , Accommodation food & hospitality was 1st class. By far our favourite stay of the past 8 weeks
We will definitely be returning in 2026
Well done Alison & Hugh
- Gary (9/5): Great location & fantastic property. - Lovely historic property in a fantastic location, very large and comfortable room, great breakfast.
- 14scorpio11 (10/5): Warm, welcoming and worth the trip - A completely lovely experience from our first step in the door to our last goodbye after a 2 night visit.
We met Hugh in passing, but Alison was our primary contact throughout the visit and was fantastic. Warm and friendly from the first hello to the last goodbye, knowledgeable and willing to help or advise on things to do in and around Lossiemouth, it was evident that our hosts loved their role and this helped to make the experience most enjoyable for us.
The House was beautifully presented, with hints to its ancestry proudly displayed around the property for any budding property historians to appreciate. See if you can spot the all the lovely tartan and the model of the House!
We were upgraded to a better room on arrival which was a wonderful surprise and our room was lovely. Overlooking the private garden around back where our hosts grow many of the produce used to create the lovely breakfasts we had each morning. Like apples? Try the homemade apple juice made form apples in the garden, it is delicious!
There was also homemade jams, preserves and marma-curd, made with fruits grown in the garden.
Warmly recommend for any one looking for a warm welcome and a chill experience.
- Brian (9/5): Very enjoyable short stay, would definitely visit again. - Great hosts, very friendly and helpful, really good breakfast and the location was perfect for us.
- Rawcliffelady (10/5): Lovely friendly place to stay - We stayed at Lossiemouth House for 2 nights, we were given a lovely welcome by Alison even checked in earlier than usual. Alison offered us an upgrade on our room as one had become available, it was a beautiful room larger than the one we had booked. Everything was spotlessly clean with everything you needed. The little touches like the homemade shortbread, bottle of water and cafetiere make it more special. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice made special by homemade juice and marmalade. I would definitely recommend this Hotel.
- lesleya2022 (10/5): Best weeks stay - I had the best week staying at Lossiemouth House. The hosts Ali & Hugh we so lovely and welcoming. The breakfasts were fabulous. So much choice with homemade jam, marmalade , applejuice.
My room was so comfortable. Everything I needed was there.
I will definitely stay again.
- Theresa (10/5): It was a lovely place to rest our heads as we were passing through and would most definitely stay again and take more ti - Alison was very friendly. Loved the style of the old building with all of its history. The rooms was very comfortable with period furniture but a modern bathroom with the absolute best shower and toiletries. The full Scottish breakfast was lovely and the apple juice, from the apples grown in their orchard, was to die for. The best I have EVER tasted. It is absolutely no reflection on the property but my elderly mum did find the circular staircase a bit daunting. Me -I loved it. Made me feel like I was living back in the era of the home.
- atuba2015 (10/5): Excellent bed and breakfast - Great accommodation, comfy rooms and immaculate. It’s an old and interesting property in a super location, just round the corner from the beach and close to restaurants. Alison and Hugh are lovely hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Varied breakfast menu and delicious food sourced locally. This was our second stay and we will definitely return.

- Wilma (9/5): - Convenient peaceful location, comfortable room and friendly, helpful and informative staff. Local knowledge is always appreciated As a person working in building construction most of my life I really loved your building but spiral stairs always present special concerns..especially for older people with luggage.
- Wilma (9/5): - The history of the building. The rooms & beds were clean & comfortable. The breakfast was delicious & plentiful. The fresh apple juice was amazing. The proximity to the beach and restaurants was very handy. The stairs could be a challenging time for some people.
- gardengal583 (10/5): Traveling to Scotland - We so enjoyed our stay at Lossiemouth House. Hugh and Allison are wonderful, warm hosts. The rooms are cozy, spotless and nicely appointed. We had tea and coffee in our room and delicious homemade shortbread upon our arrival. Breakfasts are delicious and they offer a nice variety of offerings for you to choose from. Hugh makes fresh juices and jams, not to mention amazing scrambled eggs - be sure to try. Allison is so helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, willing to assist and provide suggestions about town. If we have the opportunity to return to the area, we will defintely revisit this B&B.

It is a beautiful very comfortable building which kept us warm despite sub zero temperatures. The bathroom is state of the art and the bed was supremely comfortable.
The breakfast ( full Scottish ) was as good as you would expect from two professional chefs. We will certainly return. The presence of an excellent fish restaurant only 200m away is a huge bonus. ( Catch 79)

- tonye601 (10/5): Excellent Hosts, very enjoyable stay. - From the minute I arrived I felt welcomed. I met Hugh the owner on arrival, shown around the property and to my room, very impressed to say the least. The room was very inviting, plenty of light, absolutely spotless, and the bed was so comfortable, too comfortable really as I slept solid for 8 hours. The bathroom for my room was massive, with a bath and seperate shower, again very clean and inviting. In the mornings the breakfast was amazing, full fry up, with plenty of other choices available.
Lossiemouth House is within 2 min walk of the beach and the local pubs. I would strongly recommend this property for your accomodation needs when visiting. Thanks Alison & Hugh.
- Amber (10/5): - Alison and Hugh are superb hosts and went out of their way to make us feel át home'in their beautiful house in Lossiemouth. Further, they were both so helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed Hugh's cooking! We couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. - shaz4473 (10/5): Return visit, another excellent stay!!! - We stayed for 1 night in June 2023. The experience we had then decided us to book for 2 nights this year to explore the area as our 1st visit was to get my car serviced in the area and we were short of time. Review dated June 23 on trip advisor.
On arrival a warm welcome from Alison before making our way to the same room as before, a twin with dual aspect windows and en-suite. The room was fresh, bright, airy and had ample cupboard space(both hanging and drawers). A lovely tea /coffee tray with home made shortbread.
Lovely en-suite with a good water pressure in the shower.
Very comfortable beds, we both enjoyed a great sleep both nights.
Breakfast, once again 10 out of 10. Homemade produce - apple juice, rhubarb and ginger compote, marmacurd!! , strawberry and vanilla jam, berry compote and can't miss out the tattie scones!! Best porridge ever! Excellent cooked breakfast and omelettes.
A house with great history ( a novelty going up and down the turret to our bedroom) and a couple that take a lot of pride in sharing their home.
We look forward to visiting again Alison and Hugh.
PS. lots to explore nearby eg. Logie Steading, Brodie Castle and grounds, Findhorn eco village, if lucky a fly past by a Typhoon jet, numerous garden centres plus cafes!! Nearly forgetting stunning East Beach and West beach. Excellent fish dishes at Catch 79 Lossiemouth
- William (10/5): Exceptional - Alison and Hugh were the perfect hosts, very approachable and friendly. Hugh's 'full English Breakfast, was the best I have ever tasted.Home made apple juice and home made jam! Room 6 was perfect. Nothing!
- valeriemairy52 (10/5): Welcoming comfort - Very comfortable, secure and clean rooms. Warm welcome and very tasty breakfasts; homemade jams and granola. - ValentinaF2175 (10/5): Very nice place to stay! - Original scottish b&b, beautiful rooms, the hosts are kind and friendly, very good breakfast and everything was in the way I love!

- Thomas (10/5): - Wonderful stay at Lossiemouth House, Allison and Hugh are great hosts.
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were very welcoming and the hotel accommodation is homely and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and our bathroom was particularly spacious. The tea and coffee making facilities were very good with fresh coffee and homemade shortbread. The breakfast was ordered the night before but there was plenty of choice and was the best we had had on our 10 day road trip in Scotland.
The property is ideally located being just a couple of minutes walk from the seafront and beach. There was also plenty of off road parking. All in all, highly recomnended and thanks to the hosts.
- Charlie (8/5): Very good -
- williammJ1217ZS (10/5): Totally wonderful experience. - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lossiemouth House. It felt like overnighting in a castle. The discussions with the hosts about the house were very interesting. The best advice we got was to walk just a few steps away to have dinner at the 1629 Salt Celler restaurant. The evening was made just magical when we began to question the wait staff about the salt celler structure, and go introduced to the owner who detailed his involvement and the history. Hugh told us how to get to Gordonston school, and as dedicated followers of The Crown series, we found that to be a highlight. Great spot to overnight.
- Barry (9/5): Superb - A close walk to the beach and town was really good.
The room was good and the breakfast was excellent, a big thank you. Nothing.
- Neil (10/5): Lossie Return - Wonderful friendly reception. Beautiful house with so much history. A fabulous breakfast set us up for the days travel.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (10/5): Excellent. - We loved our stay. Our hosts were very welcoming. The attention to detail much appreciated. The only downside was the bed, as it had little support.
- Susan (10/5): My daughter and I were only there for one night but it was enough time for us to decide we would defo use their facility - Family are so welcoming friendly very accommodating x Spotless very comfortable
Lovely breakfast
- Derek (10/5): Lossiemouth House is very comfortable and well appointed. Very happy to recommend. - Our room was very comfortable and larger than normal. The bathroom was also excellent. All facilities as expected. We received a friendly welcome. Breakfast was great with plenty of options. The location is good with the seafront and beaches nearby. All good really! Nothing to report.
- Valerie (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional as demonstrated by Alison. When there was an issue with our taxi Alison didn’t hesitate to give us a lift to - Lovely driveway with well maintained gardens. The building is beautiful. Our bedroom was gorgeous and the bathroom was stunning. Everything was also spotlessly clean. The tea and coffee facilities and homemade shortbread topped it off. Nothing at all everything was great.
- Cullen (9/5): A very pleasant homely stay. - Excellent stay with convivial hosts. Nothing
