Philippe (10/5): - Ce bungalow, le plus en hauteur, est très agréable avec une terrasse équipée de mobilier et hamac d’où on a une vue fantastique sur la moitié de l’ile et la mer au loin. On est vraiment récompensé de la montée des nombreux escaliers... Chambre spacieuse avec très grand lit, moustiquaire et ventilateur au plafond. Coin cuisine pratique avec couverts, mini réfrigérateur et machine à café. Salle de bain bien équipée et douche fonctionelle. Bon wifi. Luis est un hôte attentif et très arrangeant. Plages et centre à 15 minutes à pied. Merci pour ce bel hébergement ayant bonifié notre séjour à Holbox. Peut-être que l'on pourrait avoir un peu plus de meuble de rangement dans la chambre

I loved giving her cuddles and belly rubs. The host Luis is fantastic! Always available if you need anything and he takes such good care of everything.i appreciate how quiet and relaxing my stay was. Hans - Juergen (8/5): Einfache Unterkunft, sonst nichts! - Da fällt mir gar nicht viel ein. Die Lage ist o.k.. Ca. 5 Minuten zu Fuß zur Innenstadt und 20 - 30 Minuten bis zum Cocos Beach. Die Anlage ist soweit gepflegt, die Zimmer sind sauber. Alles in allen solider Durchschnitt. Mit den Fotos bei der Buchung ist das so eine Sache. Es sieht alles immer ganz nett aus, bis man die Unterkunft wirklich sieht. Mein erster Eindruck war 'in die Jahre gekommen', nicht sehr wohnlich, simpel, bloß kein Teil zu viel. Die Couch war fleckig, der Küchenteil (alles ein Zimmer) lieblos ausgestattet und der Waschtisch so weit nach hinten versetzt, das man sich nicht richtig waschen kann. Das Bett hatte simple (saubere) Laken. Der Check-In war unpersönlich. Man muss sein Gepäck selbst über eine steile Treppe in die 2. Etage tragen und das Wichtigste für den Vermieter war als erstes sofort die zusätzlichen Gebühren zu kassieren ( Wichtig: beim Vorweisen des Fähr-Tickets wird es etwas billiger, also nicht wegscheißen). Das alles ist für manche verwirrend. Ein paar Bocken Englisch (oder -Selbstkritik- Spanisch) wären da sicher von Vorteil. Die Terrasse, die für uns sehr wichtig ist, bestand aus einer kleinen Ecke mit harten Holzstühlen und Zugang zur nächsten höheren Etage. Mein Tipp: Oberste Etage wählen, da ist eine größere Terrasse, und keiner stapft vorbei. Manchen Leuten ist das alles egal, die sollen sich in Casa Sofia wohlfühlen. Wir würden Casa Sofia nicht mehr buchen.
Kayra (10/5): - This was probably the best stay on our whole Mexico trip! To begin with, the entire property is beautiful, designed in harmony with the surrounding nature. Our rooms were spacious, airy, extremely clean (there is meticulous room service every day), and the beds are very comfy. We found the location to be ideal - just ten minutes walking from the "center" and thus away from the noise. Super peaceful days and nights. Absolutely worth it. I would come back here anytime. There is nothing I dislike truly.

Claudia (10/5): - Casa Sofia is a great place to stay in Holbox. The room is beautiful and spacious, very cleaned and nicely decorated. Luis was a perfect host, he was very welcoming and gave us a lot of info and suggestions. The room is slighty outside the center (which is though reachable with max 5-10 min by foot) and for this reason is very quiet, which is fantastic. Highly recommended!

Xardiff (10/5): Rajski nocleg na rajskiej wyspie - Cudowny styl Boho, całość obiektu ma spójny styl, który idealnie pasuje do pobytu na tej pięknej wyspie. Nasz bungalow był bardzo dobrze usytuowany, wszędzie było blisko, okolica cicha, z dala od imprezowej części wyspy. Bardzo miły gospodarz, który chętnie porozmawia i wyjaśni jak się mają sprawy na wyspie i co warto zrobić, na czego nie. Polecamy brać pokoje typu bungalow, lub te na wyższych piętrach. Sprzątanie jest codziennie co akurat nam nie do końca odpowiada, bo nie było wymagane, a mieliśmy podejrzenia, że ktoś niestety zaglądał do sejfu. Jednak traktujemy to jako bo odosobniony incydent.

The atmosphere overall is very relaxed and you are a short walk away from the city center and the noise. The only small improvement I can think of is to have a plug and/or small light at both ends of the bed

David (10/5): Memorable, comfortable, secure and inviting! - Luis was warm, very helpful with recommending tour operators, reserving taxi service and generally just a perfect host! The room was large, with windows on four sides providing great air circulation, we never used the A/C. The patio/balcony was large and private. Everything was clean and tastefully decorated. We put great use to the kitchen/fridge area. The location was perfect for us, close to the beach and center but off the main drag a bit, so much quieter.

Les rideaux black out c'est génial. Juste assez loin, juste assez proche! Plancher de béton donc on entend tout à l'étage supérieur.

We had the king sized bed room, all the way up top and the views did not disappoint. Loved the rooftop terrace with hammock and table to sit at. The room was really lovely, it included: fridge, sink, coffee maker as well. The shower was so fun, the water comes out of a big conch shell! The owner Luis was super friendly and was always available for recommendations with things like bicycle or beach recos! There’s also a beautiful, friendly kitty that hangs around the hotel and she’ll definitely add a little extra happy to your day :) The hotel is close to everything really, such as the popular brunch spot Mr. Happy! Susie (7/5): Nice place - Fairly new construction, very clean. Excellent staff and Luis the owner was kind and knowledgeable of the area. Lacked amenities, no pool, jacuzzi, no nice garden area to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The outdoor furniture looked very nice but wasn’t that comfortable and had a security camera looking down on us. Indoors was very nice but lacked a place to sit. IE, a bistro table and two chairs would have been amazing. A microwave, corkscrew and bottle opener would also help.
Anna (5/5): Meh - Okay property friendly staff We were not able to make it to the island for our first night . We had ferry tickets but after travelling for three hours to the ferry, our ferry trip was cancelled due to high winds. Every hotel was fully booked in Chiquila and we had to make a costly trip to Cancun at 9pm and scramble to find somewhere to stay. After discussing this with fellow stranded travels who told us that their hotels we very understanding and accommodating, we explain our dilemma to Luis and requested to adjust our reservation and stay an additional too nights at Sofia. He refused to accommodate our request. We were disappointed by his customer service. Additionally, our wifi did not work for two days which was an issue as I required wifi to work remotely.

Il est aussi très réactif si vous avez des soucis (les chats du voisin étaient entrés dans mon logement et il est venu les faire sortir, il a également mis rapidement du produit pour les insectes qui rongeaient le bois du lit) Les rideaux ne sont pas occultants et une bouilloire serait un plus

Marceau (5/5): - Large room. Cleaning services every day. Holbox had a big storm before our trip, and the whole island was swamped. Although I know it’s not casa Sofia’s fault, it should be specified that it is necessary to walk in puddles in order to access downtown or to take a taxi. When we talked to the host about it, we got told that it was what it was, and didn’t get offered any solution, when many hotels are in the sidewalk zone and are not confronted to those problems. In addition, be aware that there’s hot water for one shower only in the room.
Maikel (10/5): Lovely stay on the island - Luis is super kind and always offers to help. The room is very clean and spacious. The bed is big and comfortable. The shower pressure is the best we had so far in Mexico. The outside seating is also very nice and because of the fridge in the room we could do a nice breakfast setting. Also, the housecat is very cute. The AC is perfect. It’s a 10 min walk to the beach/city, but that’s something we knew beforehand. We liked everything!

Fabrizia (7/5): Un piacevole soggiorno a Holbox! - La struttura è molto carina, ben curata e pulita. La stanza con terrazza al quarto piano è davvero tipica e ha una bella vista. Avendo preso la stanza con la terrazza il sole batteva morto forte ed il tetto di legno non isolava pur avendo le finestre tutte chiuse e il condizionatore la notte faceva molto caldo. Inoltre per la stessa ragione si sentivano molto i rumori esterni di animali, motori, musica ecc. Non so per quale motivo sia stato abbassato al minimo il frigo mentre avevamo dello yogurt dentro. Ian (9/5): Amazing! - We had a great time staying at Casa Sophia! Communication with the owner via WhatsApp is good and the manager Luis is very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and very clean and looked just like the pictures on booking. The area is quiet and peaceful and located outside of the busy centre. We originally booked for 5 nights but decided to travel to Holbox earlier and it was no problem for us to book an extra night. Casa Sophia was a lovely ending from 3 weeks travelling in Mexico. We would definitely recommend staying here if you don’t mind a 15 min walk to the centre and beach! Nothing!

Ebbs (10/5): A Perfect Solo Retreat at Casa Sofia! - I absolutely loved everything about my stay at Casa Sofia. From the moment I arrived, Luis made me feel so welcome. He’s incredibly friendly and helpful, which added a personal touch to the whole experience. The atmosphere was exactly what I needed for my relaxing solo trip: peaceful, quiet, and serene. It felt like a hidden oasis where I could truly unwind. The bedroom was spacious and beautifully kept, and the bed? Pure heaven. The mattress and pillows were super comfy, and the bedsheets smelled amazing—such a small detail, but it made every night feel luxurious. I slept like a baby every single night. If you're looking for a tranquil escape with warm hospitality and cozy comfort, Casa Sofia is the place. I’ll definitely be back! Nothing, everything was great!

Christina (9/5): Good choice for an affordable stay on Holbox - The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, the room was a good size with a fan and aircon and fly screens. The shower was nice. I liked the decor. 10 mins walk to the harbour and similar time to the closest beach. Could have done with cleaning on Sunday as well because of the sand/ insects/ need to empty bins.

I can recommend a local family restaurant called Antojitos Paulita that is closeby The location is a bit off, but that also means that it's quiet. So it depends on what you're looking for. It was just a 10 min walk to the more busy part of town.

The owner Luis is wonderful, who was very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Casa Sofia is very clean and felt like home during my stay. I would highly recommend to folks looking for excellent value for your money.

Lauren (10/5): Exceptional - Casa Sofia is an absolute gem on Isla Holbox! The rooms are beautifully decorated and so comfortable. Luis is an excellent host - he was really kind and helpful and checked in to make sure everything was going well with my stay. The location is also really good, very close to everything but in a nice quiet spot. I would definitely stay here again and would absolutely recommend it! Nothing! I wish I could have stayed longer!

Harvey (9/5): very nice - it is a very nice place with a wonderful few. the Apartment well equipped and has a beautiful caribic charme. luis is very nice and helpful. we absolute would recomment it and stay again there. kitcjen equipment could be a litte more (hotplate, pan). but only if you would like to cook. fridge and coffeemaker is very good.

Andrew (9/5): Stylish and very good value - Modest but with a real design sense. A comfortable bed, lots of hot water, and a good fan and air conditioner. Clean and well maintained. The proprietor was very helpful. It is a 10 minute walk to the beach and 15 minutes to the center of the town.
Rose (10/5): Best place - This was one of our favourite stays in Mexico! It’s the perfect place for an island stay like Holbox. First of all, the rooms look better than in the photos. Real charming and well maintained! Second, Luis is a real good host with great communication. He shared some good restaurant recommendations and got lots of other tips or things he can arrange for you. Definitely recommend staying here if you want a more authentic island vibe!

John (10/5): A gem on Holbox - Excellent stay! We loved design of the spacious room, lots of light, comfy bed, and tasteful decor featuring conch shells. Daily cleaning, helpful host. Location was close enough to the beach and town center, but far enough away to be out of the noise. The kitchen could be a little better equipped.
Alexander (10/5): Exceptional - If you decided to come to Holbox and went into all the trouble of getting there - just book Casa Sofia (one less thing to think about). It’s a fantastic place, a little walk from main activities and noise, a true paradise. Amazing staff, Luis (the owner) is really taking care of things, super friendly, kind and there to help or advice. Honestly, if I could - I would rate it 100/10 as it was one of the best stays for us in recent travels. Look no further and book the place. Truly nothing

Bathroom was huge and the shell add the shower head was very nice addition The location is fine for me, and meant it was quiet but it can be a bit tricky walking if you're not that able. A pool / hangout/ bar area would be a nice addition
Erik (9/5): Superb - Luis is the perfect host, checking in with everyone before arrival. The room (Star room) is great, plenty of space and a very comfy bed. Very comfortable place to stay, if not a bit far from the town square. (This didn’t influence rating of Casa Sofia): just be advised that almost all streets around the accommodation are flooded, some with green water (sewage according to two locals). Plenty of raccoons around there. Hope that this gets solved, though some argued that there’s hidden interests to keep the roads in this condition (such as the taxi drivers). Town square still accessible by foot, but takes around 8 mins longer.
