- Dave (6/5): Very small room, but close to Tokyo station - Room was very small & the included breakfast was only prewrapped rolls & a breakfast sandwich that you could microwave to heat it up. There is no lobby or breakfast area to eat or hang out, so you have to bring your coffee & breakfast back to your room to eat it. The hotel is very close to the train station, so that's a big plus.

- chunchongbeh (6/5): Tiny but very strategically located - Out of so many Toyoko Inn, this is one of the hardest outlet to book, and the room is very small(some how).
It is conveniently located opposite Tokyo Station, not far from Daimaru Departmental Store and Shangri-La Tokyo.
It is also close to the Airport Bus stop.
The breakfast place and selection is one of the tinest and simplest of all Toyoko Inn.
I still score 3 for this hotel due to it's superb location.
- angielmo (6/5): Bad Service unlike other branches - I frequently use this chain whenever I go to Japan. Rooms were always clean and staff were friendly too. Breakfast had a good spread and delicious (I usually stay at the Ikebukuro branch in Tokyo).
Decided to try out this hotel as it is near the airport shuttle to the airport and was disappointed. The lobby was small and there were no tables and chairs like the other branches. You will have to stand to have your breakfast if you want as the spread is pathetic.
Also unlike the other branches whom will keep your suitcases if you have a future reservation, this one doesn't. Staff were unfriendly and not willing to help.
Price is also higher than the other Toyoko Inns as it is near Tokyo Station. Great location though with plenty of food options around the hotel.
- fairysky (6/5): Tiny interesting business hotel in Tokyo's prime spot - First and foremost, please read my title very carefully, I specifically mentioned "business hotel", so to speak, any patrons coming here trying to use this as a vacation stay need to expect some compromise. In fact, this hotel is slightly different from almost all other Toyoko-Inn due to its space constraint. Unlike other Toyoko-Inn, although breakfast is still provided free of charge, this hotel barely has a lobby, as such, diners will have to eat their breakfast STANDING, which is not abnormal in Japan's culture anyway. in addition, they have lesser breakfast variety too.
Next, the hotel only keeps your luggage for the day ONLY, no overnight. Like I said, space constraint, period. I was trying to keep my luggage there overnight, just so I can get out of town for a day and back, but found out the hard way. The receptionist politely explained to me in simple English, that the hotel simply doesn't have space. I can apprehend the rationale behind, as any deposit luggage will have to be placed along the already very congested lobby. If you take a look at the building layout, you can understand, it's a tiny "I" block hide in an alley squeeze in-between other buildings, making full use of Tokyo's scarce landscape, and this hotel is the nearest Toyoko-Inn from Tokyo station, within minutes of walking. As such, the price is slightly higher than their other franchise, but still drastically cheaper than other hotels around the area nonetheless.
Common facilities wise, the hotel try to accommodate as much as possible as per their usual corporate layout, again expect some compromise. There is only 1 lift, 1 washing machine plus dryer, 1 common laptop, 1 microwave oven, along with the usual vending machine, ice machine, all squeeze within the tiny lobby. I'm not being sarcastic, but it's amazing how they did that really, the Japanese truly master the art in space optimisation! Room wise, expect it to be a bit tinier, and I could hardly find space to open my luggage from the economy double room I booked, I eventually opened it on the bed, but all usual Toyoko-Inn amenities are available, including TV, fridge, and a bath tub!
Toyoko-Inn is basically a business hotel chain, but this particular hotel here truly exemplifies being a true business hotel, in the sense purely for overnight stay without much luggage. Like I said, expect some compromise if you are using it as a vacation stay. This hotel is relatively new, and due to its prime location and price, it's selling like hot cakes. By the way, it's hidden in an alley way, so do your homework before going there for the first time, it may be a bit difficult to spot.
In conclusion, this is the tiniest Toyoko-Inn I have ever seen, but to me, it's an eye-opener.
- 458utey (6/5): Really disappointed - I mention clearly in the website reservation that 2 of my kids under 12 years old will be joining in the same room and clearly stated in hotel policy that they can stay together with the parents but the hotel don't mention clearly how many guess can stay in each room. I book double room with the condition 2 adult and 2 children in the same room and the website reservation go smoothly and it happen when we arrive the policy for the double room is only for 3 person .
We arrive at night with 2 of our hungry kids and request that we can stay for only one night in the double room with additional charge of the single room since that the only room available at that night. We try to negotiate for 1 hours and the staff only sent us to another hotel that make us should go up early in the morning to comeback check in and run to catch our train at Tokyo station. This really disappointed me
The hotel must give the full information for the occupancy policy in each room and each toyoko inn hotel to avoid the miss communication after the guess arrive in the hotel. For your infomation we don't have any difficulty when we stay in Toyoko inn Toyama and Toyoko inn Kyoto with same booking condition.
- janl714 (4/5): service was bad, manager can't communicate in English - I stayed for 4 nights and my hairstyle tool was fallen down and broken, i complained to front desk and request to talk to manager. Never request any compensate. However, the manager wrote me a Japanese letter which I totally don't understand to apologize without seeing me. Reason is manager can't speak English. Problem did not resolve just inform me the cleaning staff have not touch my personal belongings. So poor service i encounter in any hotel worldwide. Can't believe this is Japan service.
- Arbaroon (8/5): Convenient and cost effective - This branch of Toyoko Inn is really new and very conveniently located in a street just opposite Tokyo Station on the yaesu side, about 5 minutes walk.
Our economy double room was really small, barely accommodated the double bed, as most Toyoko Inn are, but still comfortable and clean and with all the usual amenities e.g. night gowns, tooth brushes, face mask, slippers, kettle, tea bags.
Our window faced the side wall of another building just few feet away, lucky that that building had no windows.
The bath tub was wider with lower side walls than the older versions. We really appreciated the rain shower!!! TV was also a bit larger.
The lobby and breakfast space was small with few stools, but the onigiris and miso soup were delicious as usual. Some improvement on coffee quality.
Really cost-effective!
- DYA717 (8/5): Very close to Tokyo station - Less than 5 minutes on foot. Turn left going out of the Yaesu North gate, cross the street and turn right on the 2nd narrow street. You’ll see the Toyoko Inn sign. This is a fairly new branch with everything being smallish, but comfortable. The lobby is small, serving the purposes of check-in, baggage storage and standup breakfast dining. This is a typical businessmen’s economy hotel, free WI-FI in rooms and also LAN cable connection, ample space for working on your computer, a huidifier machine is stored under the bed and hot water maker with a couple of packets of tea. Lots of restaurants, a lively place, great for walking around.
- diegoc752 (8/5): Fantastic location, small breakfast corner, even smaller lobby - A short walk away from the Yaesu North Exit on the eastern side of Tōkyō Station. Very convenient for those using the Shinkansen platforms; a bit less so for the conventional lines (although they’re not much further away). For the location, the prices are hard to beat - not surprising in a city-centre neighbourhood dominated by soaring five-star/luxury hotels.
The rooms are what one would expect from any Toyoko Inn: very small, but perfectly adequate and well maintained. Don’t expect a full closet (just a niche with hangers) and be prepared to spread out your luggage on the bed when unpacking or repacking - there’s precious little space to spare. No complaints from me, though; where Toyoko Inns are concerned (this one included) the tight acreage is a fair match to the reasonable prices.
A couple of things to point out, though. For one, the lobby is a bit of a tight squeeze, with barely a corridor’s worth of space between the front desk and the opposite wall. As one might imagine, this makes for crowding at peak check-in/out times and at breakfast (when guests walking to/from the lift have to pass through the same area to reach the breakfast corner).
And speaking of the breakfast corner: smallest I’ve seen in any Toyoko Inn. In fact, there’s no room for proper tables and chairs - just tall counter-style tables where one is expect to eat whilst standing shoulder-to-shoulder with fellow guests (not very many of whom can be accommodated at one time). The selection is also quite limited compared to other branches of the chain; just onigiri, Japanese pickles, miso soup, and a savoury side dish (along with coffee and juice). No bread, spreads, sausages, or eggs as I’ve seen elsewhere.
Overall, the fantastic location more than makes up for everything else, and I’m happy to recommend this hotel. But if you’re after a bit more breathing room - whether in the room or the public areas - you’d best be advised to look elsewhere, and pay quite a lot more.
- rp-yp (8/5): New hotel about three blocks from Tokyo Station. - Stayed one night and found the hotel to be comfortable and
close to the Yaesu North exit of Tokyo Station. See map for
this hotel and turn right at the street with the large red sign
Concept Labi. Hotel is on your right about half a block down.
There is convenience store on the corner one half block
further.
An amazing amount of restaurants are on various side streets
near the hotel.
The lobby, if you can call it that, is amazingly small. I did not
eat breakfast and I cannot imagine how it could be served in
such a small area.
Standard Toyoko Inn quality with 11 stories and one elevator.
Good value for Tokyo near the JR Station.
- chunchongbeh (6/5): Latest Toyoko-Inn in Tokyo - Stayed at this newly opened last night, before we continue our journey to other parts of Japan.
Selected this hotel is because of the price point and it's superb location. It is about 5 minutes walk from the stop of the 1,000 yen Be Transse bus from Narita Airport. Less than 2 minutes walk to Daimaru Departmental Store, and Toyko Station. You can basically walk to Maruichi/Ginza with ease.
This is a small hotel, even compared to Toyoko Inn's new hotels. The breakfast area is the smallest we have visited, just a small standing bar. The breakfast selection is also the simplest we have even seen since we stayed at Toyoko-Inn chain for more than 10 years. It has only selection of Japanese rice balls and miso soup. They have also packed in a room at the ground floor lobby.
Having said that, due to the superb location of the hotel, the guests can always have good breakfast outside.
A good choice for budget travellers.
- hkg2009hkg (10/5): Steps from Tokyo Station - Toyoko Inn's new location is just across the street from Tokyo Station and the Tokyo Shuttle's stop from the airport. Having just opened recently, I scored a rate of under 4000 yen (before tax) for a single room, which was clean and consistent with this chain's standards. Reception was friendly and spoke decent English. The breakfast area is very small though with only bar tables in light of the space limitations.
