• Peter (10/5): Perfect place for a pit stop - Perfect location, nestled at the end of the road by a beautiful beach, cozy place where you can feel like at home. My first experience of a hostel, and I think I started with the best. James who was the host or manager was lovely, very helpful and clearly passionate about his job. He is a real asset to this place. Only stayed one night

• Slateman (10/5): Now My Heaven on Earth!! - I was intending to stay here just one night but due to incoming Storm David, I was forced to stay two more nights to sit it out. I was doing the NC500 on my Electric MTB. Great decision! What an absolutely fabulous stay with hostel hosts James, Mellissa and Skye the Border Collie! I met so many other guests during the three days. Cosy, log-burner, very comfortable lounge, great, clean and private bunk rooms, and good facilities overall. Great breakfast. £6.50. Option of meals provided to cook yourself at £8.50. Had a great Cicken curry, rice and nan! The Achmelvich Scottish Hamlet is heaven on earth. Lovely beaches to explore and great views of the mountains behind! Thanks to the warm hospitality of James and his team, I will definitely return again and maybe again! Nothing not to like at less than £30 per person a night.

• Gina (8/5): A fantastic spot to hide out at up by Achmelvich Bay. - Amazing location just 2 minutes off the beach. Secluded. Small hostel so not too busy. Spacious and clean kitchen. Friendly staff. A few things to be aware of: there is limited cell service and no WiFi so do your planning in advance; the twin room is very small - not ideal for lots of luggage!
• Ercolani (10/5): - Professional and friendly staff, optimal organization of room and shower, beautiful dining/relax room. Very good view and atmosphere. I really liked the shelf idea: you can put something on the shelf and put a label on it if it's yours or you can leave something for others just for free. And everyone was extremely kind, even the guests. I don't usually leave feedback but this one really deserved it. No Wi-Fi but I don't use it a lot in hostels.

• XTtracer (10/5): TOP - in allen Belangen - Eine absolut wunderschön gelegene und super eingerichtete Jugendherberge. Alles vom Allerbesten. Ganz besonders erwähnenswert ist James, der zusammen mit Catherine die Unterkunft unterhält. Sehr hilfsbereit und flexibel, sehr engagiert und total sympathisch. Solche Gastgeber findet man selten. Alles in Allem eine der besten und gastfreundlichsten Unterkünfte, welche wir während unserer dreiwöchigen Motorradreise durch Schottland erleben durften. TOP!
• Margaret (10/5): Unbeatable Location and Hospitality Combined - This hostel is a real gem, just a few minutes’ walk from a stunning beach. The facilities are excellent, with a well-equipped kitchen and a cosy communal area complete with a fire and warm lighting that made it feel so inviting. We especially appreciated the large boiling water machine, which meant we could always have a hot drink on hand and the delicious left over coffee. The beds were comfortable, with duvets that kept us warm through the night. There’s also a great collection of books to dip into during downtime. James, the manager, was exceptionally helpful and genuinely caring, even giving us peace of mind when we dealt with our first ever tick bite! His hospitality made the place feel like home. We also loved meeting his friendly dog Skye, who added to the welcoming atmosphere. Altogether, it was a perfect mix of location, comfort, and hospitality – highly recommended. A wet room would be useful for guests arriving on motorbikes.

The youth hostel is small but well equipped and the couple running it were so nice. The car park can get really busy on a hot day. If your expecting a 5 star hotel, this is not for you.

• Alexandra (9/5): - The person who greeted us was so friendly and made us feel very welcome. Accommodation spotlessly clean and had a nice shared kitchen area which was well equipped. Showers and toilets super clean. Bedding so comfy, the duvet was incredible. I also liked that each bunk bed had its own section of room and curtain to give a bit of privacy. So close to the beach!

• Lopez Jimenez (10/5): Moment suspendue..0 - Un lieu magique, un peu isolé, accessible après de longues petites routes. L’ambiance y est conviviale et chaleureuse un vrai coup de cœur. Rien à redire ! Après plusieurs jours de bivouac, ce confort a été pour nous un véritable repos bien mérité. 😊

• Matthew (10/5): A fantastic gem - An overnight stay at a lovely location. Great facilities and a nice private space behind a partition curtain. The nearby amenities are also excellent. A small shop for essentials and a fish and chip takeaway, both of which are very reasonably priced, to say they have monopoly of the immediate area. One of the nicest hostels I have stayed in for location and nearby amenities.

Achmelvich offre delle spiagge surreali ma avere un posto dove soggiornare nel mio viaggio a tappe (in bicicletta) mi ha reso tutto ancora più bello. Staff simpatico e gentile che si è offerto di darmi anche gli asciugamani gratuitamente. Ovviamente la posizione none

• Stanley (8/5): Nice Experience in a lovely Hostel by the Beach - First time in a hostel and it was a pleasant experience. Bunkbeds in a segregated Dorm style room but enough privacy. Good toilets and showers and communal area with cooking facilities. And just a 5 minute stroll to the beach. Easy Parking. Nothing except the weather was not kind to us.

• Karolina (7/5): A simple, scenic stay with good vibes — perfect for budget travellers who care more about the experience than luxury. - This is definitely a no-frills, budget-friendly hostel — don’t expect luxury. The room was basic and a bit tired. That said, the atmosphere totally made up for it. The hosts were super friendly, and the overall vibe was laid-back and welcoming. Best of all, the views from the property were absolutely breathtaking — a true highlight of the stay. Not ideal if you're after comfort or style

• Joanna (10/5): Get away from it all here - Lovely setting near a gorgeous beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Stewart advised us about a local beauty spot for a walk and we really enjoyed it. We wouldn't have found it otherwise. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable room and clean facilities.

Hostel: nice common area, well set up sleeping space: separated cabins for 2 people- so you can stay as a couple or as us: mother and son in a separate cabin area. Beds are comfy and duvet was heavy and comfy as well. You can meet sunset outside on the bench overlooking the sea. The cellular reception is poor ( was known in advance as it is explicitly said in advertising)
• David (9/5): Hostel on one of Scotlands’s best beaches - The location is stunning. Literally 5 minute walk from the beaches. Stewart was excellent as staff, even letting me back in the room when I locked myself out! Very kind, friendly and sociable which helped make the experience memorable; especially meeting the other hostel guests. No wifi at the hostel was weirdly enough, a feature. I loved disconnecting and seeing how the world kept turning even if I didn’t check my instagram for a while.
• Debbie (10/5): Absolutely smashing - Absolutely loved it. Bit out of the way but was worth it . The lack of signal and WiFi was refreshing and the rest of our group agreed however if that is important for you personally I would avoid booking. The lady working (Lauren) was an absolute gem and very welcoming and chatty. We played a game of cards in the communal area with other guests before retreating to our room for an excellent nights sleep in clean and comfy bedding. I can’t recommend enough. We all can’t wait to come back again on future adventures around the beautiful local surroundings.
