• MaWe60 (8/5): Hostel stay - Rob yhe warden was great, I could sit in the lounge to warm up before check on. Everything was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable. As there was not much locally in restaurants I opted for a dinner at the hostel. It was a good portion and tasty. Breakfast was good too. The dorms were mixed which I hadn't been aware of when booking. A separate female dorm could easily be provided as 4 dorms for 8 people. Also needed better working earplugs - 4 out if 8 snoring doesn't make for a good night's sleep sadly. There was just one female shower and it was difficult to put clothes in a dry space and get dressed. It was cramped.

• Todd (8/5): Perfect for a 1 night stay on our North Coast 500 adventure. - Friendly and helpful staff, comfy beds and good location. Pub up the road that served decent food. Smoo Caves and local beaches. Very thin walls so a little noisy at times.
• Magdalena (10/5): - I had a wonderful stay at Durness Youth Hostel during stormy weekend. It’s a very atmospheric and charming place, 10/10. The staff were extremely kind and welcoming, making me feel comfortable from the start. The kitchen is well equipped, and the common area with a fireplace is especially warm and inviting – perfect for relaxing when the weather is horrible. The location is great, just a few steps from Smoo Cave. I would definitely recommend it!

Shower and toilets were not in the best condition and I was told there was no parking there - when I checked in, got told to use the freer parking!

• Javier (9/5): Wonderful little hostel - Staff (Rob at the time) was attentive and helpful. The location is superb and the place was clean and tidy. It's an ideal base to explore the north west of Scotland. Limited car park, male shower not having a working lock, booking reduced one night by a system error (not the hostel fault)

My bunk bed specifically seemed super loose - was sooo squeaky any time I moved. And one shower for 12 girls isn’t ideal but i guess it’s a hostel so you manage.

Despite being down the hill from the main village, there was quite a lot to do and see. Also, I was quite happy to just chill out in the common areas as it was very relaxed. Great kitchen facilities.

• Lisa Gorgi (10/5): Stupendo ostello, semplice e in mezzo alla natura - Ostello super pulito e ben equipaggiato in mezzo alla natura, sulle scogliere di Durness. La posizione di questa ostello era davvero fantastica, fuori c'erano le caprette che giravano e a pochi minuti a piedi si arriva alla bellissima spiaggia selvaggia di Durness. Abbiamo trovato tutto molto pulito, la cucina era ben equipaggiata e spaziosa, con un bel salottino annesso per rilassarsi. Belle anche le camerate, con dei letti davvero comodi. I bagni piccoli ma li abbiamo trovati super puliti e perfettamente funzionanti. Abbiamo apprezzato anche la cordialità della persona alla reception, con cui abbiamo chiacchierato molto piacevolmente. Peccato aver fatto qui solo una notte.
