Peter (4/5): - Very old/outdated and need of some serious repairs and refurbishment. No table or lounge type chairs. Bathroom hand basin was very damaged. Bathroom fan could not be turned off so ran all day/night. Holes in walls and covered with sticky paper. Beds were comfortable and shower was good. I would not ever stay here again. Cost us $180.00 per night for three adults which would have been ok if the unit had been at an acceptable level condition.!!!

Rosalien (10/5): Just Amazing 👏 - Fron the time we pulled up to book in we were greeted with smiles and the mist friendliest staff. Just amazing and she made it her point to know me by first name bassist love that. Although their is major constructions going on we still loved our stay 1st ones to sleep in those beds 😁 and were so comfortable. Everything was brand new ✨️ water was super hot, over all loved our 4 night stay cost was really good to and the brought in extra chairs for my guests i didn't even ask🫠. Just amazing i so will recommend family and friends to stay there. Thank you staff at Aotea Lodge Poriura absolutely loved our stay and all guys hospitality 5 stars 🌟 all the way😀.

The property is in dire need of some ongoing maintenance ,ie walls where fixtures have been moved have holes in , carpet and mats ragged in places ,entry doors and windows to rooms have not been cleaned since goodness’s knows when .

Could be a super motel if managment tidy up little things like removing carpet stains, cleaned up walls and paint falling off the bathroom ceiling. Other than this place was really clean.

Four days ago I contacted Wotif to return the money they charged me - to date and after two emails Wotif has not responded. I have issues with both the accommodation provider and Wotif

Verified traveler (4/5): - This is the second review I have made on Aotea Lodge. We were very disappointed with the standard of cleanliness and the lack of basic maintenance we noted in unit 304. I was unable to bring the deficits to the attention of management until the day we left (we had a two night stay). Management were very apologetic about the state of the room and offered us a partial refund which we accepted. Management assured us that they would attend to the problems.

There was no toilet paper, bath chipped with hair in it and a white tail spider on the wall.bedcovers were sheets with no valance, a chair was dirty and the room smelled on arrival. We were happy to pay the rate but the facility was crapp. The restaurant was closed, however the pool we could use considering the cleanliness of the room we did not use it. Would not recommend at all.

Told that they had just done a spring clean. We stayed 2 days days. They cleaned unit after one day. Maggots still there when we left. Killed 3 spiders in the unit of the first day. No bread and butter plates in the cupboard. One coffee cup cracked and leaked coffee. Went to office to get another one which was also dirty. Iron had wires showing through the cord. Place was old and dated

The staggered height of each section of units provided an element of privacy even though there were many units in the complex. The proximity to Aotea Lagoon was perfect for the playground and walks with our granddaughter.

Restaurant appeared to be closed and area around the pool a bit unloved...didn't feel like this area was used very often.

Verified traveler (4/5): - I wouldn't return. I travel a lot for work and I thought this was overpriced. The room smelt terrible, so musty. Unfortunately a smelly room gives the impression of being dirty. I don't think it was dirty but the smell was very offputting. I would have paid $90 to stay here, not the $165 I was charged.

On the upside the bedroom area was in better condition & beds were comfortable but the bathroom was a serious let down.

Dave (6/5): - It's an older place, and looking a little tired, although the staff look like they are trying to do it up. It worked for my family, as we wanted to be close to town but not in it for a few days, and this is only 20 minutes drive from the waterfront. It's also much cheaper than the CBD and has free parking. The Aotea Lagoon across the road has a great playground and splash pad for younger children. On the other hand, the pool closed at 6pm, which annoyed my children, particularly after arriving at 5.30 on the first day. The restaurant was never open, apparently due to a conference that I never saw. That didnt bother me, but might bother others. The wifi worked intermittently the first night, which was an issue for my teenager, but they fixed it by the second night.

l (4/5): - Nice enough for a one night stay, room and bathroom were mostly clean, however everything looked tired and dated and the room smelt musty, There were mould spots on the bathroom ceiling and the bath was permanently stained. For the $ per night we expected a more modern environment especially where the motel is situated. Staff were very friendly.

Verified traveler (4/5): needs revamp and staff training - Room wasn’t ready on check in at 1700 as the owners sister had been living in it. I had asked for an early check in of 1300 which was agreed on but due to traffic etc I decided to get changed at the venue. Lucky I had as there was no room available. Signs outside display a cafe and food from $20 Mon-Fri but there is no cafe and the coffee machine is broken and has been for a long time apparently. I only stayed there as it is close to the police college. These owners have the monopoly for accommodation being only 200m down the road from the police college and that Police graduations are happening nearly every 5weeks. Police meetings, courses and seminars are happening all the time and use this motel to accommodate. The owners require to spend some money on the place and make it worth the $180 a night stay.

Eva Joel (6/5): A disappointing experience. - Disappointed that we were not taken to our room, just shown on map. It was dark, hard to find, and the outside light was not on. It was scary walking down the ramp or the steps in the dark. The heater had not been turned on, and once inside we had to feel our way around to find light switch. I had booked the room with a king bed, but the bedding was too small. The sheets came untucked, the electric blanket was so small that the control part was about a foot in from each side of the bed, which meant we were lying on them. Hard and uncomfortable. There was no bigger one available, and the man in the office said it was not worth getting a bigger one for just one bed. We took it off to get some more comfortable sleep. The duvet was also far too small. We had to turn it sideways to get some duvet each. Then it just made it to the sides of the bed! Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and the manager was not interested in our comments, and seemed very bored with the whole thing. Don't book the king room if you come here, as it is not worth the money.
