Couldn’t work out why the gas log fire wouldn’t come in again? Timer pushed?
- Shelley (10/5): A Perfect Country Getaway - Fairbank House is truly elite. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a generous hamper filled with beautiful local produce — such a thoughtful touch that immediately made us feel welcome. The home itself strikes the perfect balance between stunning period charm and modern comfort. Every detail has been considered, from the fairy lights and bug zappers outside to the well-equipped BBQ and outdoor area — ideal for relaxed evenings.
Inside, the three spacious bedrooms were beautifully styled with plush bedding, and the bathrooms were equally lovely. Every amenity you could possibly need was provided, making our stay incredibly comfortable. Communication with Jamie was seamless — friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout.
Maldon is one of Victoria’s best-kept secrets — full of character and charm, with plenty to explore. And with Castlemaine, Kyneton, Daylesford, Bendigo, and Mount Macedon all nearby, it’s the perfect base for a regional escape.
We couldn’t fault our stay and would absolutely return. Highly recommend!

- Emma (10/5): Exceptional property, everything you could possibly need - 15 out of 10!!!! - Absolutely everything - from the comfy beds in every room, to the incredibly generous hamper of goodies on arrival this is an exceptional property. 15 out of 10!!!! Fairbank House was the most exceptional whole-house accommodation we have ever booked for a group. The hamper of local provisions provided by the hosts was unbelievably generous and incredibly tasty - with bread, cheese, wine, biscuits, chocolates, cider, fruit, veg and more! It was truly fabulous. The four of us had the most exceptional time and the house was so wonderfully comfortable, warm and snuggly on a cold winter weekend. Thank you so much for all the care and attention to detail. The little extras make a weekend away enjoyable and easy to lean into. Tea, coffee, all the extras in the fridge, comfy beds, fresh juice, a gorgeous garden to wander about in and loads of local things to do if we felt like leaving our special home from home. Thank you so much for making our little holiday so special, we really appreciated every little detail and could see how much care had been taken. We have already started to recommend Fairbank House to everyone we know!
- Graham (10/5): Fantastic venue for a weekend break. - Everything was beautifully clean & well presented. Goods left for breakfast & snacks were delicious and over and above what we were expecting. Nothing
- John (9/5): Exceptional property that totally suited three elderly gentlemen in our 70's. - That the three of us had our own bedroom and bathroom.
Ample rooms and furnishings to give us options for relaxing and finding privacy outside of bedrooms.
Terrific gardens and again options for relaxing outdoors, although not really used as our stay was in winter.
Great goodies left in fridge and kitchen table! The only thing that I found could be improved is the next to bed power points for phone charging.
- Lynette (10/5): It was perfect. We’ll be back! - A beautiful home, warm, cosy, with everything we needed and more. And the food provided was such a generous welcome surprise. Definitely a 10/10.
- Ratcliffe (10/5): Had a great time at Fairbank House and would definitely recommend to others - Great location, comfortable home, friendly host and gave good resources for local attractions. Welcome hamper was really lovely touch.
- Tracy (10/5): We couldn’t have asked for more - highly recommend x - Fairbank is a beautiful house with a very homely feel.

- Dianne (9/5): Our imaginary Victorian terrace home filled with lavish comforts and surprises. We keep coming back! - Everytime we stay at Fairbank for Easter, we look forward to the generous hamper left in the kitchen for us. We like to think that we are the owners, even if it is only for three nights. Supreme comfort and homeliness. Perfect for couples who don't sleep together, families and friends. Our favourite room is the lounge room with gas open fire place. You will never get cold here, as there is also central heating. There are two spacious bedrooms with their own ensuites and one double bedroom.
Our dog and cat loved the gardens impeccably manicured and in fall bloom. The front terrace is perfect to sit and watch the world go by with a glass of the complimentary red wine. Jamie the host gives the best personalised service. He is so easy to contact and puts his heart into making sure everything is perfect for his guests. Being Baby Boomers we did take some time to work the TV and streaming service. Is there an easier way?
Automatic front gates would make driving in and out easier.
- Helen (10/5): Highly recommended. - Our Host Jamie suggested we should not bring much up in the way of foodstuff as there was a generous hamper of local produce provided. He was not wrong. Such a generously loaded fridge of quality local cheeses, bacon, eggs, bread, butter, tomatoes, strawberries, wine and biscuits etc...
The house was so spacious, comfortable and beautifully appointed. Beds were super comfy. Jamie's communication throughout our stay was very professional.
- Michael (10/5): All in all we were very happy and would gladly stay with them again. - The hamper was exceptional. More sockets in the bedroom would be nice. I use a Cpap machine and had to unplug the bedside lamp in order to hook it up. I'd also suggest putting in some sockets that have built-in USB ports.
- Annette (10/5): A great place to regenerate the soul in a beautiful environment. - A beautiful, well maintained house with wonderfully manicured garden. The home was walking distance to the main street, cafes, shops and local attractions. The host communication was excellent and he had provided some local produce for our arrival. The facilities in the home were excellent, nespresso coffee machine (and lots of pods), juicer, barbecue, just to name a few. The weather was excellent and we were able to enjoy relaxing on the front verandah and the outdoor covered pergola at the side of the home. Nil
- Gary (9/5): A superbly presented period house and gorgeous gardens were perfect for our short getaway - Supplies were excellent and exceeded expectations There was nothing we didn't like
- Helen (10/5): Perfect get away full of relaxation, local history, food and wine. - This house and the garden were stunning. It was presently beautifully and respectfully showed off its heritage. We were greeted with a hamper of local foods and drinks, it was way beyond what we were expecting. Perfect location, friendly locals and so much to see and do in the area. We will definitely be returning, we can’t recommend highly enough.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amanda (10/5): Everyone was delighted! - The spacious entertainment areas. Cosy and relaxing. impeccably clean.
- Stocks (10/5): Excellent. - Beautiful house and garden. Very clean, comfortable beds, great heating and a wonderful welcome hamper left for us.
- Jillian (10/5): Beautiful house, great facilities, warm and welcoming in charming Maldon. - Beautiful house surrounded by lovely gardens. Great facilities, very comfortable and welcoming. Highly recommended we will be back.
- Cheryl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (10/5): Lovely cosy weekend with friends - Very well stocked provisions and pantry Nil
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely house, convenient goldfields hub - Lovely property, renovated (but not "restored") to high standard but modern electricals (great wifi, TV) and kitchen/baths. Spacious home, multiple eating areas, quiet street, and with a terrific host. Maldon is a charming small town and well-located to see the goldfields area. Only downside is there are only a couple of places in the town proper to dine out (Castlemaine is close). But a great place with all creature comforts.
