- Emily (8/5): easy low-key stay in fulton market. - loved the simple but very well laid out rooms - lots of shelves and places to hang things. also LOVE that the windows open. that for me is huge. Ditto the coffee shop downstairs. Staff was terrific. As was the location - so many good restaurants nearby. We meant to use the gym but never did but we did peek in and it is a pretty decent size for a hotel gym and love that they have pelotons! would have loved a better breakfast option on the weekend. full brunch didn't start til 11 and we are early risers so all that was available were some pretty basic things at the cafe. prices were VERY high on the weekend. I loved my simple low-key room but it should NOT have been almost $600/night!

- Voyager48629765772 (10/5): A Hidden Gem in Chicago with Impeccable Design and Genuine Hospitality - I absolutely adored this place. The vibe was spot on, relaxed, genuine, and thoughtfully curated. The staff were fantastic, friendly in a real, unforced way that made the whole experience feel welcoming rather than scripted. The room was immaculately clean, which immediately stood out. I especially loved the full length desk built along a wall of windows overlooking the city lights. It was such a great touch, whether you are working or just taking it all in. Even the small details impressed me, like the mattress being fully encased and the bed’s simple, elevated design that made it feel both more comfortable and visibly clean. You could actually see underneath it, which added to the sense of care and cleanliness. Location wise, it could not have been better. It is in a great area that feels calm and not overly busy, yet still close to everything. It is right across from major companies and just around the corner from Fulton Market. This place easily exceeds any of the major hotel chains I have stayed at in Chicago. I would go back without hesitation.
- Mari9 (6/5): Great Location, Basic Accommodations - The Emily Hotel is perfectly situated in the West Loop of Chicago, walkable to many shops and restaurants. It’s in a great location. The hotel itself is clean and they offer valet parking. I booked an accessible standard king room (by mistake). The room was clean but very basic. There was a stocked mini fridge and a coffee pot in the room, as well as a safe and close steamer. The carpet felt industrial and was not plush. The king size mattress sat on a metal frame with no boxspring. The bathroom sink was outside the bathroom and small. It could have used a shelf underneath for a couple’s toiletries. The bathroom had a shower that was accessible for a wheelchair and a toilet. Even though there was a closet with plenty of space, there were no drawers to use. I thought this may have been because it’s an accessible room but going through photos on their website, I noticed the sink was outside the bathroom for other rooms offered. There’s a coffee shop on the first floor as well as a restaurant and bar. The bar had a fantastic bourbon selection. The staff at the hotel was friendly and engaging. I had a bad fall in the room hurt my knee, badly cutting it in three places. Because it was late at night there were no pharmacies open, but the front desk staff gave my husband antiseptic cream and plenty of bandages. They offered to take me to the hospital as well. I chose Emily because it was a three minute walk from a fundraising event I was attending last weekend in the area. All in all, I would stay here again just for the location if I had another event in the West Loop or visiting our kids who live in the West Loop even though it’s pretty bare bones basic. I wouldn’t consider it a luxury boutique hotel, though. I stay in Chicago quite often in the theater district at a couple of boutique hotels and this one would be the bottom of the list of hotels I’ve frequented.

- CarrsPDX (10/5): Mod youthful vibes. - The service was excellent from the check in staff to the bartender to the housekeeping staff, all 5 stars. The rooms are very modern and simple - they don’t look like typical luxury: plywood and metal rack details, but they are very comfortable. We’re in our retirement years so I was curious how the youthful rooms would feel and I was not disappointed. The bed and linens were top quality, the toiletries are a favorite brand: Malin + Goetz. Rather than the horrible in-room coffee of many hotels, they had coffee “tea” bags for steeping with a stylish electric kettle. Our room had the unfortunate view of the rooftop HVAC system, but we didn’t spend much time there because the neighborhood is so vibrant with fun activities and dining options. If I could suggest any improvements, I’d ask for a dresser of some sort for unpacking rumpled clothing (small closet, few hangers) and upgrade to Nespresso Pixie coffee makers.

The halls are concrete and anyone walking down them will wake you up every time throughout the night. The rooms look right into the Google office so there is no privacy. The decor looks like a low budget industrial hostel. The lattes at the coffee bar leave a lot to be desired—their special in mid-March is still a pumpkin spice latte they’ve featured since late September. I would highly recommend any other spot in Fulton Market.

- Grace (8/5): - The hotel was clean, in a central location, and offered great amenities, especially for young adults. The hotel restaurant and bar had a nice crowd but weren't overcrowded. The room was perfectly comfortable with ample space for two people. While sparsely decorated, the Bluetooth speaker was a nice touch, and the robes were comfortable. The air conditioner was finicky and turned off in the middle of the night. The coffee bar was oddly stocked, but otherwise we loved it.
- md270 (10/5): Just Perfect - Very Impressed with this hotel. The lobby is very classy looking and a great place to wait for others or have a cocktail. My daughter recently used this hotel for her wedding guests. The team coordinated everything - creating the booking block and space for the first look. That all worked out great. We did have a few hiccups with the room, but the staff responded quickly to resolve it. I do wish the beds were a true queen (felt like a double). Sink area is small but I thought it worked well wit the shelves. It is in a great location, walking distance to many restaurants and bars. I would definitely recommend!

- annhC3229UU (4/5): Bad air - Location was good. Room was disappointing - small bathroom sink with only 1 mirror - hard for a couple to share when getting ready for a wedding. Limited storage space and no decent lounge chair. Dinner on Friday (chicken sandwich) was inedible. Saturday night there was a problem with the A/C in 3 rooms. The Engineer came up right away and got it working. He left and 15 minutes later it broke again. He came back and we noticed that the air filter to the unit was filthy. Front desk offered to move us to another room but it was after midnight and we had 2 rooms (family) next to each other. The excuse for the lack of a/c was due to weather. Both of our rooms and another friend’s room (different floors) had no a/c. There were some other friends that had no problems with their A/C - so the excuse of weather did NOT ring true. Staff was pleasant and apologized but I would not stay here again! The room was very stuffy without any air flowing. Opening a window to get fresh air just allowed the noise from traffic and the train (a block away) to keep us awake the remainder of the night. It was a toasty 73 degrees - not ideal sleeping temp.

- BackPacker607685 (10/5): Cozy and Confortable with Great Amenities! - Our stay at The Emily Hotel was perfect. We had an 18 hour layover in Chicago and snagged a great last minute rate. The hotel was in the Fulton Market District one block off of Fulton which is loaded with great restaurants and bars. The room was spacious and so comfortable! We love the industrial design, the well stocked mini bar, plush towels and robes and great bathroom products! We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels in Chicago and this is now one of our favorites if not our favorite stay! Great coffee shop downstairs as well. Definitely coming back.

Guests were loud walking down the hallway at 2 am and again around 2:30 am. A very drunk guest woke me up before 5 am and was arguing with a staff member. I ended up only getting 3 hours of sleep so have been a zombie all day. We were in town for our daughter's engagement and will find a quieter venue the next time we stay in the city. - Carey (10/5): Simple luxury at an affordable price! - This was our first Christmas trip to Chicago and we needed to find a hotel that was close to where our kids live. The Emily fit the bill perfectly! The location in the West Loop/Fulton Market was really fun - lots of restaurants, bars and shopping are very close by. The hotel is lovely and the room - a deluxe king - was very nice. I did find the bed to be a bit too firm for my liking and had a dickens of a time trying to get the room cool enough for a good night's sleep. Despite those two hiccups, I would still recommend this lovely hotel to all travelers coming to the West Loop/Fulton Market area. Beds a bit on the firm side.

It was annoying to keep doing the wifi for each day you were there. The wifi should work for all they time you are there without having to keep updating it.

The only downside was that there wasn’t a fridge or a microwave in the room, which I didn’t love. Other than that, everything was great. They even provided a complimentary umbrella and a robe, which was a really nice touch. The bathroom, though, was hands down my favorite part I absolutely loved it.

Frankie took great care of us he was welcoming, attentive, and really went above and beyond. The hotel vibe is awesome, the room was outstanding, and everything was spotless. The location is super walkable to lots of great spots, and valet was fast and friendly. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town and hopefully stay longer to enjoy even more of what the hotel has to offer.

Their outstanding front desk and housekeeping staff helped retrieve my fiancé’s engagement ring that we accidentally left behind when we checked out of The Emily. - E1504OXbrianf (10/5): Quality hotel with fun rooftop bar. - Hotel is modern and the rooms have minimalist feel to them. Bed was great and the room size was fine for two people. No drawers, which i missed, but good closet and a wall system w some hooks on it that was helpful. Staff was also helpful and nice. Lobby bar and 7th floor bar were both enjoyable. Definitely don’t miss a trip to the 7th floor especially if weather is good. It’s a bit out of downtown so we used Uber to get around. Guinness brewery and Rose Mary are great walkable choices.

- B7574RDrickd (2/5): Disappointing - Inadequate bathroom ventilation. Bed sits too low. When it was discovered that our reservation was booked with parking, that we did not need, the front desk advisor made zero effort to rectify that. We will not stay here again.
- Amy (9/5): - Wonderful location, walkable to lots of restaurants and things to do. The room felt modern yet functional. They provided us with a crib and baby soap which we thought was a nice touch for those traveling with a baby!
- ernestinep2014 (10/5): A Perfect Refuge - I needed to extend my stay in Chicago for two days because my boyfriend was in the hospital and The Emily Hotel took us in. Do book early, because the last minute bookings are pricey, at least around Thanksgiving. The lobby at the Emily is light and airy and has a great coffee shop. The Fora restaurant there serves great food and the staff were very attentive and kind. Even though I was just waiting for an order, they seated me, brought me a small pitcher of water, and made me feel welcome. The front desk staff were friendly, efficient, and courteous. When I asked for some changes they cheerfully went out of their way to help -- they showed a great deal of kindness throughout my stay. The rooms are minimalist but have everything you need, and have a kind of open charm. I liked that the sink was outside the bathroom. It makes it easy for two people to get dressed or ready for bed. The rooms overlooking the next building could use a layer of sheers inside the curtains, but privacy was not a problem. I liked The Emily very much. It is simple and imaginative, very comfortable, and suffused with kindness.

- jameswH9049IX (10/5): Great hotel in an even better part of town - Nice hotel in the center of the West Loop. Between the hotel and the area if you’re bored it’s your fault. Nice bar and restaurant. Clean comfortable rooms. I’d definitely go back for a staycation or business trip.
- Drifter1500 (10/5): West loop, a new hotel, close to everything. Super efficient rooms - Great neighborhood full of top restaurants. A short walk into the loop for entertainment and the business district if that’s what you’re here for.
- benfZ1026HD (4/5): Better hotels in the area - Not 4 Star - This is a 4 Star hotel looking at the lobby and the restaurants but nothing else. The rooms are incredibly underwhelming. Cheaply done with no real interior design. The beds are without a doubt some of the worst for a hotel and the pillows the same. If you want a good hotel in this area I would go to the Hoxton nearby with similar pricing

- 959carriea (6/5): One Night Stay for a wedding - Honestly, downtown hotels are always expensive. But I have to say that the room was just ok for the price of the room for a single night stay. The bed wasn’t super comfortable, the shampoo and body wash etc was intense smelling, no fridge in the room, no good access to water to refill water bottles (they had canned water available in the room but it tasted strange), no fan in the bathroom, amenities were lacking overall. Likely wouldn’t stay here again.

- C1748SUstephent (2/5): Only reason why I stayed at the hotel was because our group had a room block. - The room smelled like vomit and cigarettes. I requested a room change and was told they were fully committed. The smell got worse when the AC kicked on. Also I had to request the shower gel get refilled.

- R1119BKshannono (10/5): Lovely weekend stay - The location of the hotel is great. The room was a good size, clean and although we were facing the street it was pretty quiet. We forgot toothpaste and the front desk was able to provide us with some. The rooftop bar was also great! Would definitely stay again.
- Jcorbett72 (10/5): Great option in West Loop - Had not stayed here since it was the Ace Hotel, and the room aesthetics have not changed (minimalist, good use of space, sink outside bathroom, cool vibe). But what struck me as better was how friendly the service was - from check-in/out to housekeeping to staff in the bar, everyone seemed happy to see us. We had a fun night in the rooftop lounge, which was very happening on a Friday but we easily found table to sit at and got drinks quickly. A great place to stay to enjoy the bars and amazing restaurants in this great Chicago neighborhood.

- Lukas (8/5): Great hotel in Chicago - Nice, clean and in a very good neighbourhood Rooms are spacious and overall very comfortable. M&G products in the shower are a great touch! Rather pricey and none of the bars/restaurants were available due to numerous private events. Sort of defeats the purpose of hotel bar/restaurant
- reginatV5189NM (8/5): Weekend in Chicago - The hotel was decorated well. The room was very nice. We did appreciate the coffee and the tea and the housekeeping after our first night which was unexpected. There was a party though Saturday night down in the restaurant and we could hear it up in our room on the fifth floor around the corner. There must not be any insulation in the place.
- Yves (10/5): - It is very close to the L trains, and the staff on Thursday evening warmly welcomed me. The interior of the hotel is probably one of the best among the boutique hotels in town! The room was very clean and comfortable, and there was a very cute little radio in the room.

This hotel is way overpriced. valet took 25 min. for $80 a night quicker service when no one else is waiting would have been appreciated. Other places in the $700 range a night are far more worth it! Do not recommend

- jhohfeler (6/5): Rooms are new but not very functional - The rooms may be updated and fresh, however, there is no place to store clothing—-other than a closet with a hanging rod and high shelf. There was a metal rack on the wall with a couple of hooks to use. No furniture/drawers to store socks, underwear or sweaters. None! I was forced to live out of my suitcase. Why should I have to do that? In the bathroom, no place to hang towels, so I had to leave them on the floor. Also, lighting was poor in the room. Reading a book was not possible.

- 215minam (2/5): Budget downmarket hotel - Awful hotel trying to be trendy. Most rooms stank if cigarettes. I had a view of a brick wall and trash cans. The hallways were filthy. The sinks are in the bedrooms. Would never stay here again.
- justinwD6988GL (6/5): Ugly room, harsh lighting, lots of machine noise, but a technically functional room - Room is painted dark, the decoration is spartan to say the least, the lighting is harsh (very cheap LEDs against dark surfaces is a recipe for eye strain), the room decor is just really uninviting from start to finish. There isn't even a chair, really - like there's a crappy little metal chair but it isn't pleasant to sit in. I didn't care for the mattress, although that's a personal preference. The HVAC unit is so loud it woke me up when it turned on in the middle of the night. Start to finish I'm really just not a fan. In fairness, the staff was incredibly pleasant and friendly, the room was very clean, the shower worked, etc. I wouldn't absolutely avoid staying here again, but it would not be my preference

- Kristin (7/5): Flott beliggenhet, men bråk fra aircondition. - Fin beliggenhet i kult område med god metrotilgang til sentrum. Grei standard på rommet. Veldig mye bråk fra aircondition anlegget. Aggregatene sto i bakgården utenfor rommene og bråkte så mye at det hindret nattesøvnen. Vi fikk nytt rom pga dette, men nesten like mye støy der. I det nye rommet bråkte også det innvendige anlegget. Kun middels bra muligheter for frokost på hotellet, men mange bra steder i nabolaget. Noe sliten standard på rommene, harde senger.

- Peter (9/5): Well located smart hotel, excellent base for exploring the city. - Smart hotel with clean rooms, decent coffee bags in room, coffee shop below and in a nice area for food/drink/shopping and access to the city centre and airport. Quite a bit of fri/sat night street noise - so bring earplugs.

- Katie (8/5): - Love the Emily! Only small complaint was the couch was not really that comfy for a third person to sleep on. Upgraded to a bigger room since we had three and it wasn’t that great. Plus no door to the shower area.
- zeenaOZC35 (2/5): Disappointed - I think this hotel could have been nice, I was really excited to stay but left very disappointed. My room was hardly touched by housekeeping any of the days I was there. Someone left the window open and I didn’t realize this until 3 nights in bc I had the curtain closed. This should never have happened and it’s unnerving that this isn’t being checked in between guests. The room was super loud and now I know why- it’s bc I was listening to a massive rooftop compressor all night long. This place could be nice- but they need to actually start to care about their guests.
- 386kristenj (6/5): Beautiful hotel, great staff, lacking room. - The hotel is beautiful and the staff are top notch! The room was not comfortable, and we stayed in the loft suite. The toilet paper was so thin, the room was so dark it was almost impossible to see anything, there were no doors in the bathroom and shower. The bed was rock hard and very uncomfortable. The plywood counter was cheaply done and buckling. One of three tiny drawers was broken. The other three we just cubby holes, and impossible to store in. We won't stay again if all the other rooms are the same.
